Unsealed nail holes left after placement of trap

I used this company 3-4 years ago to deal w a potential raccoon. To this day I am still finding issues with their shoddy work. This includes 1) pieces of metal and nails in my gutters 2) holes in my roof and flashing from when they nailed down the cage and didn't patch and I have had water leakage that in order to fix involved replacing some shingles and flashing. Additionally they never came around to treat the attic and to check the rat traps. The owner also wanted all payment up front and DID NOT come by to inspect any work. He sent two kids that were clearly not licensed or trained in anything related to this job. This was BY FAR the worst service I have had by any Houston company. Please stay far away from this company.

I can't recommend them enough! Mike is sooo knowledgeable and made the whole process of having a raccoon in the attic actually pretty fun. He checked on us daily and it's obvious he is very passionate about what he does. I learned a lot and I think the price is extremely reasonable for how much work they do. I will be a regular for bug control as well now too!

Termites !!! Yuckkkkkkk.
Nat F.

My sister called me up to tell me that we have big problem. I thought to myself, "oh no, she is pregnant...again," but luckily, she just said "Bro, we have termites." I rushed home to check it out and I swear I have never seen anything so disgusting in my life. I am afraid of little bugs so I would rather have another niece or nephew knowing how expensive kids are than dealing with these little creatures. I didn't know who to call so naturally, I turned to Yelp. I sent out a message to all the local companies and Michael with Cypress Critters and Pests was the FIRST one to reach out. We talked on the phone briefly and let me tell you, this guy not only knows his stuff about bugs and critters but he sounds like a nice person. Obviously, being a good consumer, I had to shop around to get a better idea. Michael's quote to me was reasonable compared to these other guys who wanted to charge me a kidney for the same service. After 4-5 calls with other companies, I gave up, texted Michael to tell him, "Yo, come get these bugs. You are hired." He showed up super late the next morning because his previous appointment went over. However, unlike those cable guys who would make you wait until 8pm, both Michael AND his wife let me know via text message that he was running behind. The treatment was fast and effective. Michael found the source of these little termite dudes quickly and sprayed chemical all over them and around my house. He explained to me that the chemical is safe and would last up to ONE whole year. Overall, what a quick and easy way to get rid of bugs in your house, and I get to keep my kidney. Thank you Michael.

Mike and his family are great to work with with regard to pest control. I had a squirrel infestation on my roof under my solar panels. They took on a job that seemed like few wanted to tackle. They were always prompt and courteous, and would notify me prior to arrival. After a few trap events and removal, they also assisted in the highly compacted nest removal. I found the cost extremely reasonable. Cannot recommend more highly.

Key Take Aways - Fair Price He gave us an estimate based on the info I gave him on my home via text. After he came out and saw the size and scope of my home and garage, he increased the estimate slightly, but not by much. Based on the other estimates I got and the research I did, what he charged was fair. He also provided a one year warranty. - Work Product He secured all the potential points of entry. He put down traps and we caught a couple of field mice. He did mention that he left an opening behind the kitchen sink in case there were still mice in the walls to give them an exit route, but he left traps under the kitchen sink. Service/Warranty A few weeks later, I spotted a mouse inside the house (not under the kitchen sink). We called Ruben and he was very responsive. He came back out and laid some more traps and we caught the mouse (Ruben thinks it was a mouse that just got in, probably from leaving the back door open). After that, we were out of town for about a week and we returned, and found a dead mouse caught in Ruben's trap under the kitchen sink (remember, he left some openings so that any mice in the walls could get out). Ruben came out again and used some foam to close the remaining openings. He also recommended a spray to take out the smell of pheromones which might be attracting new mice (e.g. through the back door). I can say as of now, it appears the mouse problem has been eradicated. - Knowledge of Craft/Professionalism I have had so many questions about what a mouse can and cannot do. Ruben patiently answers all of my questions which has helped me navigate a very difficult situation. Ruben is the epitome of professionalism. He knows his craft and he executes his process flawlessly. He is customer focused and is very responsive and respectful. He did not use those scare tactics used by other companies (e.g "mice are responsible for this % of house fires, etc.) to scare me into action. I highly recommend that if you have a rodent problem, don't ignore it and call Ruben. You won't be disappointed and you won't be ripped off.

Tuesday morning, we heard a lot of noise in our house in Austin and after some quick looking around, we found the source of the noise -- a squirrel who'd gotten into our chimney and landed -- alive -- in our fireplace. Because of a fireplace screen, he wasn't going anywhere, but we needed him out. After calling a lot of people who couldn't come out that day or who wanted to create a long involved process of sending an "inspector" out, then sending someone out a few days later, I happened to find Urban Jungle while doing a Google search. We called them and they had someone out within an hour. When Will showed up, he came prepared with several kinds of traps because he said squirrels were especially sensitive to being picked up. Amazingly enough, once Will started trying to trap the squirrel, the squirrel ran right back up and out of the chimney. However, the next day, Will came back to seal off entry to the chimney. When it was all said and done, we paid a very reasonable price and Will did good work. Another benefit of Urban Jungle is that their staff all have degrees in wildlife biology or related fields. The additional education makes an obvious difference in both their knowledge and their professional demeanor, which was miles above the usual trapper or exterminator. Trust me, these are the ones you want to call if/when you have an animal in the house.

They warned me that they were a little more expensive than other companies, but they have a lifetime guarantee and fully stand by their work. I told them to come by to get a quote anyways. Jeff arrived today and investigated my entire house. I was fully expecting him to tell me there were rats and that he would have to do all this work in my home. Instead, he told me that he didn't find any evidence of rodents. I was a bit distracted with a conference call at work, but he told me he was in no rush as I was the last appointment of the day. As I was finishing up my call, he inspected the exterior of my home to see if there were any opportunities for rodents to get inside. He was so thorough that he even used his ladder to take a closer look at the roof. He let me know that my house was pretty well sealed (from previous owners), but there were a some minor spots that may require sealing. He was very honest and told me that it may be cheaper to have a roofer do the work. We then went up to the attic, and Jeff spent a good amount of time educating me on signs of rodent activity. He even went the extra mile to take a look at the HVAC ducting and water heater to find the source of the noise I've been hearing. While we ultimately couldn't get to the root of the problem, it was very reassuring to learn that it wasn't due to rodents. I absolutely commend Jeff for the thoroughness in his inspection, and honesty in his assessment. He has earned my trust, and subsequently my future business. I highly recommend reaching out to Omega if you have any suspicions of animal activity in your home.

My wife and myself had a great experience with The Restoration Attics…read more I got a total of three estimates before I decided to go with them to fix our rats in the garage and attic problem. Restoration Attics was the last company I found after I had already gotten the other two estimates. The other two companies I tried one was kind of rude and the other lied to me about a few things. But that was the other companies. Now let's talk about the good company. The Restoration Attics... The first time I spoke with them over the phone I got ahold of Ivan. Very pleasant person to speak with over the phone. Very knowledgeable and very patient with all the questions I had. For the initial inspection Ivan also came out. Very friendly and professional , explained everything to me, was very honest with me. My Dad worked in the pest and rodent control industry all his life until he retired, so I do have some limited knowledge about a few things with this rodent control stuff I've gleaned from him over the years. Everything Ivan told me checked out and he and all of his workers treated me and my wife with utmost dignity through out the whole process. Every interaction my wife and I have had with The Restoration Attics was great. Wonderful. I don't find many companies that make me feel this calm or at peace that I'm in good hands and being taken care of. The Restoration Attics are a sterling example of integrity. It's been a blessing to me and my family to have found this great company. I was initially nervous the first time they were going to come over to start work. But Ivan came and spoke with me before they started that day and he put my mind at ease about this matter they were taking care of for us. Kristian was the lead man at the job at my house. I don't know where Ivan finds his workers but man, Kristian is a great guy. Professional, hardworking, knowledgeable, answered my questions, and maintained a professional and approachable demeanor every time I interacted with him. Once exclusion was done I met Paul. He's the gentleman that would come check for rodents after the initial phase of the work. Easy going professional great guy. He also checked up on and did some more work on some finishing details with the exclusion and did the disinfecting the attic and garage work after the rest of the work was done. He did a lot of work and did a great job. I also met Eddie, hard working, friendly young man that did lots of work around my house to install the exclusion barrier. Eddie also came over for a few follow ups after all work was done. Rats are stubborn and will keep trying to find ways in. Eddie put this great chemical around places the rats would scratch at to try and get in. The rats really hate that chemical and would go other places instead. Eddie is awesome! Any concerns I had after the work was done was also attended to promptly. Ms. Stephanie the office manager is easy to get ahold of and friendly. When the rats did make attempts to come back into our attic, The Restoration Attics were literally out here usually the next day after I reported it to them, inspecting, and finding ways to keep our home protected. Their prices are fair and competitive. They do a ton of work for what they charge. I am impressed with how much work they did for us for the price they charged. Also Ivan gave me a great warranty on the work they did. If the rats come back during the warranty, these guys will be back at no charge to me. Ivan even mailed me a warranty certificate with his name signed on it for the amount of years he had agreed upon during the estimate. These people are about integrity. They've definitely earned my family's trust. Ivan initially told me they would go above and beyond what I expect when he came to offer me an estimate. He was right. They're a small company, but I put my money on them when compared to bigger companies for the services they offer. I highly recommend you do the same.

We live in a home built in 2021 near active construction and developed a rodent issue in the attic. After initially managing it with traps, the problem escalated when I noticed a strong odor on Monday, 4/27. We found significant droppings and urine staining in the attic, so I requested multiple estimates. Pest exclusion quotes ranged from $900-$1,850, and duct/insulation remediation ranged from $4,800-$7,800. I found Total Pest Elimination based on strong online reviews from yelp. On Wednesday, 4/29, I contacted Juan (the owner) for a written estimate. He sent Elli to inspect the attic; he attempted to locate the source of the odor and set traps but could not find the dead animal. I repeatedly followed up for the written estimate, which was not provided until the next day. My husband and I hired the company because they offered a single-scope solution, provided the lowest quote, and indicated they could start quickly. The total estimate was $6,600, and Juan stated the work would take a couple of days. Communication and scheduling were inconsistent from the start. On Thursday there was no proactive update; when I called, Juan said they would begin Friday, 5/1 at 9:00 a.m., and offered to send Elli Thursday evening to set traps. Elli arrived with Andrew, brought odor eliminators, set traps, and again searched unsuccessfully for the dead rodent. They confirmed they would start work at 9:00 a.m. the next morning. On Friday, 5/1, no one arrived at 9:00 a.m. At 9:22 a.m. I texted Juan and was told Andrew was "around the corner." Andrew arrived around 9:48 a.m. without supplies or direction and remained in the attic until about 12:30 p.m., when Juan arrived for the first time with minimal equipment (a small shop vacuum, bags, and paper to protect the entryway). Juan then requested 50% payment to purchase supplies, which had not been discussed in advance. Elli arrived after 2:00 p.m.; with limited equipment, they located and removed the dead rodent and then left. I was told they would return Saturday at 9:00 a.m. to complete the job. By this point I had paid $3,500, and I was relieved the odor was improving after the rodent was removed. A larger crew arrived Saturday and began removal work with two shop vacs, but the job was not completed. I was later told Sunday would not work, and that they would return Monday at 9:00 a.m. and finish by Tuesday at the latest. Late Sunday night (11:35 p.m.), Juan texted that he was trying to locate a machine to rent and would update me in the morning. As of Tuesday, the work still was not finished, and the team left approximately 10 large bags of old insulation at the curb despite my request to move them (my garage has been unusable throughout this process). It is now Wednesday; I have had to cancel appointments and stay home, which has disrupted my job search and daily schedule. I also want to clarify what was represented as included in the scope of work: closing all exclusions, setting traps, and returning weekly (four weeks) to remove any rodents caught. I was also told they could remove and replace all contaminated insulation and, once removed, sanitize the attic floor. That capability was not there. Juan arrived with only a small shop vacuum and suggested the crew shovel insulation out. He hired contract workers who said the proper machine and appropriate PPE were required, and there was no plan or containment (plastic sheeting), even though our attic access is inside the house--not in the garage--so containment is essential. The insulation "upgrade" conversation was also misleading: I was told I would need to pay an additional $1,500 to upgrade to fiberglass, but the insulation already in my attic was fiberglass (R-38). I asked for the same R-value to be replaced, but what was brought was the cheapest material available and did not match what we agreed to. As of May 7, I am out $3,500 and left with a major mess: dust throughout my house and garage, and my garage is still unusable. The workers who were in my home worked hard over the week, but they lacked leadership, proper supplies, and clear direction. I terminated Total Pest Elimination on May 6 and now must hire someone else to clean up and complete the attic work. Juan may do well with basic pest trapping but based on my experience I would be extremely cautious about hiring this company for exclusion or insulation/remediation work.

This week alone, I have rearranged my schedule and waited at home on three separate days with little to no proactive communication. Every update has required me to reach out first, and when I do, I often feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff simply by asking for information. Considering the significant investment I've made and the service expectations outlined during the sales process and in the agreement, I expected a much higher level of professionalism. Clear communication, confirmed appointment times, and follow through should be standard, not something the customer has to chase down. I do want to recognize Brandon because he has been great when it comes to the actual service. He has been professional, knowledgeable, and thorough while at my home. My frustration is not with him. It's with the overall communication and scheduling process. I simply wish the communication from the office was as proactive and reliable as the service Brandon provides. The work itself may ultimately resolve the issue, but the overall customer experience has been frustrating. Clients should not have to repeatedly follow up just to find out if a technician is coming. Over the series of experiences I've had, it was strangely somewhere in the middle. The positive side was that they were incredibly responsive. The customer service is on point and the attitude of their management is definitely a class act. I have no doubt this is a major driver for their most positive reviews and deservedly so. The part where I struggle is the mixed experiences from the various technicians that had come to one of my properties that had an ant, cockroach, and spider problem. The initial $160 was a bit higher than I expected, but a small price that I was willing to pay to rid the property of creepy crawlers. Jason and Servando (sp) extremely brief in their initial run of the place. Even after their treatment, I still saw plenty of spider action where it was clear were not that thorough. After explaining my situation to their staff, they assigned the manager at the time, Daniel, to come back and apply treatment the way he intended. He went nuclear with a whole host of sprays and was extremely thorough both inside and out. His work made a world of difference and there was very little bug activity for close to a year. He was thorough in his explanaition and super transparent with his approach. If every experience was this thorough I think I'd be more receptive to future service. He has unfortunately left the company. Typically they recommend treatment 3 to 4 months. The subsequent visits after my initial concerns were not charged, which I'm thankful for but should not have taken that many times just to get the desired result. It was close to $250 for carpet ant treatment, which felt out of my budget but was assured that the chemicals would be different than the standard ones used for treatment. I was presented with a 30 and 60-day warranty which is fine but not something I elected to go for this past time around. While I'm sure they've done stellar work for other households and other properties, I do wish that I was able to experience the same magic on a consistent basis.
