We recently moved back to Texas after having been gone for 6 years. We knew we wanted to search out our previous pest control company since we moved right back into our old neighborhood. Turns out they are still providing great service in our old community and we even have the same technician (Billy)! Not only did they quickly come to perform our first pest treatment but we soon discovered there were rats getting into the attic. Modern Pest Control Rodent Division to the rescue! They even knocked off some money off the hefty price of our exclusion because we were loyal former customers. The exclusion service they provided very soon after their first visit was thorough and I really believe we won't be dealing with rodents again for a long while. One of my favorite things about Modern Pest Control is the way they've always educated me on all the various parts of keeping creepy crawly critters away from our property, as well as the safety they ensure for our family. I signed up for their Modern Plus service which includes quarterly visits at a cost of $105 a quarter. The service was supposed to treat for ants, roaches, silverfish, crickets millipedes, pill bugs, and earwigs, as well as fleas, fire ants, and spiders. I had the service for exactly a year, so I did give this plenty of time before expecting results, but a year later I am still seeing ants, spiders, and silverfish within my home, and fire ants outside. The company is responsive to calls, and shows up as scheduled, but that means very little if there's no results for the service that I am paying for. I finally decided to call today to cancel before my next service, and the employee answering my call didn't even bother asking why I was canceling my service, so I guess they probably already know the reason. Instead, she tried to tell me that there will be a $75 cancelation fee, and asks if that can be charged to my card on file. Um... no. When I ask for a explanation on what the cancellation charge is for, she responds that I agreed to it when I agreed to my treatment plan. Only then did she pull up my account and notice that I had already been with them for a year, and then promptly agree to cancel my service. Overall, I'm surprised that they have such good ratings on Google, and feel like their Yelp rating is a more accurate representation of their quality of service. read more

I did extensive research on the rodent exclusion services I need and spent a lot of time researching companies to make sure I picked the right one. If anyone has had the misfortune of needing this service, you know it's *expensive* and the quality of work varies highly, but I'm ready to drop some money on someone who will do the job right. Due to the detailed website and glowing reviews on Google, I was already leaning towards using Modern Pest Control. However, I just had one of the most brash and disrespectful customer service interactions of my life. It's hard to convey how disrespectful and rude their representative Kevin was. He spoke down to me, constantly talked over and interrupted me, and literally told me "to tell you the truth, I don't even want to do this job" within a few sentences of meeting because I don't have an attic. He abruptly told me that he would do the work but wouldn't provide me with a warranty (versus saying "here is what our warranty is and there will be exclusions to your warranty because of x, y, z"). I tried to clarify asking specifically if they wouldn't guarantee their exclusion work and he explicitly said no and then later tried to backtrack that he didn't say that. Everything about his demeanor, tone, and wording made it very clear he didn't want to be here and was trying to talk me out of wanting to use their company. Thanks Kevin, you were successful. He also showed up an hour early and didn't call or text that he was on his way, which I would have absolutely been fine with had he shown any sort of basic sense of respect. read more

This place is great. When we moved in to our house in August, we notice a lot of bugs, I called them and they had somebody out the following morning...over the course of the next month, we continuously were picking up dead bug carcasses inside and out... (I called them back because of spider concerns, and immediately retreated area same day). It is now January, I have not seen a single bug inside or out (maybe something to do with time of year?) I bought my house in Katy in September of 2019. Now in May 2020 I get a "Renewal Notice" invoice of $140 addressed to "New Owner". Did the previous owner have an account with this company? Possibly, but Modern Pest Control has never contacted me for service, or came to my house to provide that service, under some prior contract - during the last 9 months that I've owned the house. I think they are simply fishing by sending me an invoice. Seeing if I'll just blindly send them a check. Shady! Shady! Shady! read more

5 solid stars. Use them quarterly for indoor and perimeter treatments for our house. We live in a green neighborhood where many bugs are present due to golf course and trees. After 3 years, no insects found inside our house. On off occasion one maybe found, but already dead. We hate roaches and there has not been a single one present. The bugs die as the try to cross the garage perimeter and don't make inside ever. They spray the whole front lawn and back including areas wasps may build a nest. They guarantee their work and come back for a re spray for free if any issues. Had fire ants be an issue outside several times. They came out and took care of the problem. They call ahead as a reminder and are prompt with schedule. Use them quarterly for best results. read more

Modern Pest took over a company that I had arranged an inside and out insect control. The problem I have is that Modern sends an email the evening before they will service the house. I cannot guarantee someone will be home the next morning. I end up paying for the inside and out service while Modern pest manages through short notice to provide the outside service. Lucky them for making the long dollar on the short service. If you're looking for short service pest control while and agreeing to pay for more, these are the people for you. read more

Very disappointed with the service. Had to call them out 3 times and after the 3 times there was no noticeable change in the amounts of bugs and spiders inside my home. Marcel and Jeff were extremely nice but unfortunately the service itself wasn't effective. I called to get a refund as the service wasn't cheap and it didn't work, they only offered refund of only 50% which was disappointing being that the service didn't work. You would think they would stand behind their service or refund you fully but... apparently not. read more

I have been a Modern Pest Control customer since early 1980's. They are a wonderful organization and the service we have received has been very good. They have provided service at the 4 homes we have lived in since the 80's. Presently we get the pest control service and the Sentricon Termite control system. I think it's worth the investment. Always treat the perimeter of home, garage and ask if we have any activity inside we want addressed. Check the attic a couple of times a year when it's cool. This one person complaining about being late 40 minutes I am not sure about. They are always on time. I get text and emails to remind about appointments. Jeff is one of the folks at Modern that has serviced my home since my 30 year old son was born. Jeff and the other techs are awesome. read more

I called MODERN PEST CONTROL to ask them the price for extermination of pests from my home on a quarterly basis (every 3 months). I was given a price, I decided to use them, I paid them in advance. The date came when their exterminator was to arrive and when he got here he asked me what the problem was. I told him that I've seen small roaches and that they may be German cockroaches. He immediately told me that the price would be triple the price I've already paid for him to cure that problem. I asked him to leave. That really made me mad. The question of pests should have been asked in the very beginning if prices change with different pests. My business is going elsewhere! read more

I just wanted to let you know how wonderful my tech Ronnie is and how pleased I am with your companies service. I had wasp attacking the my house the other day. I called and was scheduled for service right away. This morning when Ronnie arrived I was on the phone with a company I was having an issue with and it was not pretty. I had to stay on the call, this mess has been going on for several days and I was afraid that if I asked them to hold they would "disconnect" anyway Ronnie had to listen to me yelling on the phone and was just laughing and laughing. When I got off the call I gave him the short version and he took my mood from blood boiling to laughing. He is not only good at his job he is great for your company and customer relations! Oh he sprayed for the wasp, knocked down a mud dobber nest and even squished a spider for me while he was here. That's a big deal for a single gal! I don't know if you ever do anything to recognize when your employees go above and beyond but he is an asset to your company and should get an ada'boy! I was recommended to call Modern Pest Control in an emergency situation and am glad I did. Their office staff was helpful in explaining their quarterly service plans and answered all of my questions, and they could get someone out as early as the next day. Brian, the technician, arrived exactly at the quoted time and worked quickly. He was super friendly and helpful. He answered all my questions and wore covers on his shoes so as not to track stuff in the house. Glad I went with them - highly recommended! Note that their service plan doesn't cover all types of pests, similar to most other companies, and they give you a list of all covered insects before you sign. read more

I found this company online after my original bug people could not assist me in an emergency. I had bees starting a colony and some getting into my house so I needed someone quick. I called and Joseph was out early the next morning to take care of the situation. I will call upon them again if needed. Their price was the same as others in the area.
