Michael from Cypress Critters & Pests was a great experience for a problem. We realized we had an animal in the house. I tried to contact other contractors, but Michael was the only one to respond immediately. He found a way to get on schedule asap. He completely an interior and exterior inspection, and found the hole in the softer area of the roof in minutes. He worked into the evening with absolute health and safety because he had to install the cage on the second story roof. He provided details to understand what we needed to do to catch the critter. Upon capture, he would be back to us asap with a gentle release. The cage was installed with quality around an 8 inch hole. Upon identifying that we were able to no longer have the animal in the house, Michael came back and performed excellent construction work to patch not only the hole, but the surrounding area . Overall, Michael's professionalism, quality of workmanship, responsiveness, fully transparent in explain all that needed to be done including cos that was reasonable, I made the right decision in hiring Michael's firm to handle a big problem. So, after my lengthy review detailing Cypress Critters' lack of response to my warranty request, they contacted me and let me know they all had COVID-19 and weren't able to respond to texts, emails, or Yelp requests over the previous week. However, they were all better and willing to take care of my warrantied work. Much to my delight, they showed up on Aug. 8th and installed a one way trap over the problem area. They also used quite a bit of that black styrofoam sealant I've heard so much about in other reviews but whatever, it shouldn't be up long right? After install, they told me they'd be back in a week (unless we called them earlier if a squirrel was caught in trap). Great. Well, today is Sep. 5th (Happy Labor Day!) and I haven't heard a damn thing from anyone at Cypress Critters in a month. Maybe they got monkey pox this time? Is Ebola still around? Maybe the plague. Whatever the case, I didn't care to hear anymore excuses or waste another minute trying to get in touch with this unprofessional business. So, I pulled out my ladder, tore off their trap, scraped off all the black styrofoam sealant I could, and dealt with it myself. I'm probably better off, considering some of the god-awful work I've seen in other reviews. 0 stars. I won't be using them again and good riddance. My one star still stands...Especially after the response from the "business owner." Whether a customer reaches out via telephone or email or website or text is neither here nor there. I sent a message with MY contact info in the wee hours of the morning as a courtesy due to the time. If it's a listed method of contact IMHO - it's just as valid as the next - ultimately my choice, no? Your website says someone would reply with 24 hours (never-mind your website also says you're available to respond 24/7) - which NEVER happened. I reached out in August... it's now October. My suggestion - if you don't want customers reaching out via your website (which I assume lands in the same email inbox you noted in your review response), then remove it from said website... ultimately, it's not the customer's responsibility to "hunt" your business down. I can guarantee you are never the only business on the list of potentials, so at the end of the day it's pretty simple - if you want my business - be kind enough to respond. Further - my "Elite" status has zero relevancy to the lack of customer service this company displayed - clearly evident from the owner's response to my initial review. So these guys are helping me with preventative maintenance on rodent and pest control - sealing garage (found a mouse there) and roof eaves and weep holes as well as checking for signs of anything along the way. They are professional and kind - a little old school, but in all the best ways! The gentleman, Pete, who comes out to do the HARD work - and it is HARD work - is caring for both humans and pests of all kinds. He is professional and respectful. He works fast and diligently. Best of all, he is super honest and will not stop until the job is done right. They are reasonably priced and they do not try to oversell!!! These guys are good people and they have my business longterm!! In terms of communication, they are a mom & pop shop (local business of people who care), but they are honest! They checked traps I put down and for any signs of rodent life, when they did not find anything - they said that I did not need traps at this time - that the preventative should do it! This is not a fancy franchise operation - they use text better than phone and send invoices by email. They are not perfect - no one is - but they acknowledge when they are wrong and fix it right away. One time, I did not notice an error in my invoice and they texted me to tell me the price was actually lower. They always respond to me and they show up - they always do better work than I anticipated. They quoted over the phone, stuck to the quote, did the work they showed me over the phone. They also showed me where my other exterior spray service has made some exterior staining on my brick and did not try to sell me on anything. They provide fast service at a fair price. We had all the access points for rodents blocked and put traps up in the attic. They came back to check traps often. We heard noises in the wall again. Once notified they were out right way. The trap had caught a large mouse, but they did find an entry point that was missed. They fixed that hole under warranty and we have had no other issues. After having a corner of my roof repaired recently by a handyman, I noticed a squirrel going in and out of the same corner of the roof. Many good Yelp reviews made me decide to contact Cypress Critters & Pests. Michael texted me back right away and squeezed me in his busy schedule and came to my house the next day. He got on a ladder and inspected the corner of the roof in question and found a gap under the roof tiles. He then took pictures of the gap and sent them to my phone so I could see them myself. I really liked how he was informative and explained everything including what exactly he was going to do to catch the squirrel and the cost. Since it was a late Saturday afternoon and getting dark, one of his crew members, Jerry, came to set up the trap the following Monday. What was amazing was that literally within an hour of setting up the trap, the squirrel was already caught in the cage! These guys really know what they are doing and I am extremely pleased with the results! So I've been friends with Michael on yelp for a while and have followed his checkins like he's followed mine. Well recently we have had a wasp problem and I was stumped on who to call because I didn't want to get raked over the coals by another "pest company". I remembered when I was being a tad stalkerish and checking out photos that he actually had a business! Sent him a message and he replied in something like 5 minutes. Was stupid fast. He worked with my schedule and even set up an appointment on a Sunday. The day we rest. And he's willing to come by because what's when I will be home. Great customer service. Once he got here he was super professional. Upon entry he and his wife threw on shoe covers and went around to check out the house. Showed me a few things that I didn't see previously (even during home inspection when we bought!) hadn't seen. So naturally now I'm paranoid. Have to look at my house closely now. Thanks for my extended paranoia now ;). He found the issue and he and his wife were in and out in around an hour. Nothing but professionalism and willingness to help me out. I'm glad I was able to meet him and super pleased with his work. If you need to have a critter removed or need anything else associated with pests give them a call. I came home Friday night and found a squirrel behind the refrigerator! Called Cypress Critters & Pests and they sent Brett out to capture this varmint. Brett squeezed behind my fridge and in seconds had this squirrel in a cage. Professional, courteous and a nice guy who knows exactly what he is doing. Brett pointed out several areas where the squirrel could have gotten in (keep in mind it was after 10 pm on a Friday night) and explained what drew him to where I found him. I called Michael first thing this AM for a possum that was behind a bush in our backyard that our dogs discovered. I knew something wasn't right when the possum didn't move for more than 24 hours. He and his wife came out and were able to secure the possum who was stuck under the fence. Low and behold she had 4-6 babies attached to her making her unable to scoot thru the whole under the fence. They brought her and the babies to the animal sanctuary to be checked out to make sure they were okay. I highly recommend this company for their work and compassion. Very reasonable. read more

I immediately began looking for someone, anyone to remove the unwanted guest(s). I called one company and left a message because they were closed and then I called Cypress Critters & Pests. Michael answered the phone right away. His genuine concern and knowledge was evident over the phone. He explained what he could and couldn't do and even sent videos of the process. On Friday 9/4 as promised he and his wife were at my house as scheduled at 2p. I on the other hand was not; but they began the work without hesitation. They located a second entry for my unwanted guest(s) and sealed it as well as setting a trap at primary entrance. Well this morning at 9a my first little interloper was captured on his way out for his morning run after a good day's rest... lol! Said he had written me in on the following week by mistake ans scheduled visit next day. Showed up several hours late (I had to leave so talked with my daughter) and said he would send a bid at once. Got it the next day. Were supposed to come do the work Saturday. Tech called in sick. Sunday. Car accident. Monday. No call no show. Did nt return texts or messages. When I finally made contact I got "Nobody showed up? Let me find out what happened and I will you back in a couple minutes." Called them about a wasp/bee problem. They came out, dusted the attic, sprayed around the house and knocked down the nests. Said it was likely the chimney though. Two weeks later I opened my choney flue and a large ball of the critters fell in my hand. I dealt with those, and contacted them to see about having them come check my chimney and get a quote. That was a month and a half ago and no response. The job they did was good, the advice they gave was 100% accurate, and the price on services rendered was very affordable, the follow-up suffered a bit, but they did follow-up and set everything good. Used for insect, spider, bug whatever treatment for new home. I was watching as the rep sprayed -- nothing was dying. He turned up the power to knock bugs down. I told him that bugs were still alive and crawling through whatever he used. He said it takes 1/2 hour for bugs to die. 1/2 hour later. Day later. Still alive and well. I think.. maybe the inside of the house was done okay -- IDK. I hadn't really seen much in the house before. Called (and text) back to have them come actually treat the courtyard area that rep said he "misted" but didn't spray -- for some reason. I have not been able to get a response. Said they would spray a perimeter. I didn't witness that -- maybe a couple feet from the back door was sprayed, but nothing in the front yard or sides. I paid $300. I don't know, the rep seemed to be doing his job. I just think the product they use is just not up to par. read more

I had some time on Christmas and found the company on Yelp with a lot of positive feedback, so I sent a message figuring I'd hear back in a few days. Later that day, the owner, Mike, called me back. I was amazed that he was checking his messages on Christmas and told him it could wait. He scheduled an appointment for Kyle to come to my house, which he did today. Kyle was on time and thoroughly check the area where I thought I'd seen termites. He looked around the entire foundation, and educated me what to look for, and how termites behave. He established that I didn't have termites, and didn't try to sell me something I didn't need. I will definitely consider having my house preventively treated for termites in the spring, and will definitely be calling Kyle. I wish I could give zero stars. This company came out and charged me $1065 on a new construction home. This fee was to cover all services associated with this issue for a year. Supposedly they wired peaks in the roof. I question whether or not that was even done as I have yet to see pictures. They laid 25 mouse traps in the attic and a 2 in the garage. They came back after several days and 4 mice were caught in glue traps that we personally laid. There were no mice in their traps. My contractor was in the attic and noticed that only 3 of their traps had bait. When I asked the technician about this, he stated that I must have a roach problem and that the roaches must have eaten the bait out of all the traps!!!! I knew this was not true and a way to get me to spend even more money. As a result, he then suggested that I hire them for insect control as well. The reality is, he did not bait many of the traps. Which is why nothing was caught in the traps they laid. After bringing this to his attention, he then put peanut butter in all of the traps. He was supposed to come back the following week and never showed. For the services they rendered, I was better off doing myself. I have left several voicemails for this company. They never answer the phone and after 4 months of calls, have never called me back. This was a complete and utter rip off! Don't do business with this company unless you have money to waste. They are clearly writing 5 star reviews themselves because their service has not even been close to subpar. Update: After I posted my one star review as well as another dissatisfied customer, they still have 5 stars. This company is the best when it comes to pest control. Their positive attitudes, and willingness to answer questions and ability to provide excellent service has made them the only option for our home and my husband's business. We had orkin for years and the guy never spotted the termites under the house and wouldn't do Anything about the possum we thought might be living under the house. Cypress pest control figured out how the possum was getting under the house and even found some of its hairs. They set a humane trap to try and catch the possum and and when we realized the possum wasn't under the house, they sealed up the possum hole along with all the other ways the critter could be getting under our house, they stopped the horrible fleas and they included a warranty that they have Been glad to uphold. For instance, recently the possum came back and made a new hole, because of the warranty they came back and fixed the hole and put out a possum trap and other traps for free. After a heavy rain we started noticing ants in our kitchen. As everyone knows ants are a nuisance... especially if they are carpenter ants! Concerned and worried about the foundation of our house we contacted cc&p to get them to our house asap. Mike came over and assessed the entire outside and kitchen. Apparently we had fire ants in our house. Yes we actually had an ant problem outside as well (had an old tree that was infested). Although we removed the tree, we still had ants outside. He gave us several options - quarterly or a single treatment. I opted for a single more expensive treatment because I can't be bothered to call every quarter. It took care of the problem (knock on wood) and I'm am pleased. Our second interaction with Cc&p was a preventative one, since a close relative who has a pest problem was coming to visit us for a couple of days. Mike, again, gave us several options and came in to treat our house. He also gave us specific instructions to follow. Once our guest left, we had mike back to check for potential critters. I don't typically post reviews on Yelp, but wanted to make sure I showed my appreciation for Mike. For the past year, we've had various animals moving in and out of our attic. Being afraid of what I'd find up there and the cost of fixing the issue I let it fester, thinking they'd move out then I'd fix it. A couple weeks ago, we started hearing scratching and crying in one of our walls, knowing it was likely a new family of raccoons, I decided to call Mike based on reviews from Yelp, google and other places. I wasn't disappointed, Mike was able to come out an hour after I called, he confirmed my fears, explained the issue, and gave me an estimate (which turned out to be exactly what I paid). He even took a quick trip in the attic and showed me the squirrel nest that had been built. We scheduled a time for him to come out, he fixed our soffits and set traps and checked in with us regularly. It looks like us going up into the attic scared the mom raccoon because it seems as if they moved out before the house was sealed up, which is great. In terms of cost, it wasn't as expensive as I was expecting, the major reason for any expense was me holding off for over a year to call someone.
