I wish I could say it's super easily available to make an appointment but it's not. However, walk in's usually come and go pretty quickly. Today was just an extraordinary day. Record-breaking for me in fact. But Jessie and the front desk staff member were really professional and friendly throughout the entire process. I'm grateful that my questions were answered willfully. In terms of speed of service, these guys have typically always been fine, in my experience. I've never made an appointment, have always been a walk-in, and am seen almost immediately. Very little wait time. No issue with cleanliness, either. The issue is, 100%, the disgruntled jerks they seem to exclusively hire. Whoever is behind the counter at any given time (usually an older white woman with glasses) is never, ever pleasant. Not even decent. Just these grumbling, unhappy people who foist their bad day -- which seems to be every day -- onto patients. And I get it -- just sitting in there this afternoon you had one guy who comes in, obliviously crashes right into the table next to the door, and doesn't move it back, and a patient who had to be told twice which room to go into. People don't listen and they have rotten attitudes. But unless they've demonstrated rudeness or stupidity, there's no reason to treat people poorly. So when I walked up this afternoon and saw a sign that read the following, I read it as, "this place is appointment-only except during a short period in the morning": "Effective 9/25 until further notice: Due to unforeseen event [typo on their part], San Leandro location will be appointment only with accepting walk-ins when time permits from 7:00-8:30 am." I'm an English major and a content marketer, meaning, I write for a living. Anyone with a basic grasp of English would likely read this as I stated above: appointment-only location except during this short window in the morning, if time permits. Well apparently their phlebotomist, the middle-aged Asian woman who always wears her hair in a ponytail, thinks their poor, typo-riddled writing is so sublime that confusion on my part was just me being either too lazy or stupid to read the whole sign. Because when I asked her if they're appointment-only, she snidely remarked that if I'd read the whole sign, I'd see that they're only appointment-only in the morning. Apparently, what they meant to write was that they're appointment-only from 7:00-8:30 am, with the ability to squeeze in walk-ins during that window only as time permits. Not hard to write unless you're more focused on making everyone around you as miserable as you. I was extremely close to reading the phlebotomist the riot act, but I don't need to get myself banned from a LabCorp so close to my house, which I need regularly. So I just made sure to give her back her attitude in spades the entire visit and wasn't nearly as nice to her as I usually am. She seemed to be picking up what I was putting down because she tried to be nicer in the end. Way too late to play that game with me.

It appears there is 1 single employee here doing everything. I'm writing this 2 hours into my time here and I still haven't seen anyone else that works here. When I was finally called back at 8:50, so 40min after my appointment time, I was told they had no record of the land my doctor ordered. So I had to go back and forth with phone calls and emails to sort that out. That was 30min ago. Labs have been sent and I'm still waiting because the 1 employee is with someone else now. She's clearly doing her best inside of horrible circumstances as well. Also, they send you into the bathroom to give a urine sample, there's a sign that instructs the proper hygiene and way to collect said sample - use wipes first. There are no wipes. This whole awful experience is a testament to the state of our crumbling healthcare system and how companies like quest don't care at all about patients but simply holding monopolies on making money off of us. Why was I not notified in advance that my lab order hadn't been received? Why is there only 1 person working in an entire lab? Why are there not basic hygiene supplies in a medical lab testing facility?

ZERO STARS! As with…read moremost of the other reviews this place is poorly staffed and run. It's always backed up with patients and the workers don't seem to want to do their work. While I was waiting, one of the "techs" left to get food. It's bad enough they had about 10 people, with appointments wait for a least an hour to get seen, then to have a worker leave just to get food and a drink. I would think they had snacks or brought their own to eat in the office. I had an appointment and wasn't called until an hour later. And there was a new person who couldn't get my blood, he asked another "tech" to try and she tried twice and still couldn't get it and she blew out one of my veins (see photo) on one of the tries. There's now a big swollen bruise on my hand. I just hope it goes away in a few days. After 3 attempts she says they aren't allowed to try any more and says I could try to go to another Quest to have them try, but they're all booked and I don't want to be waiting 3-4 hours not to be able to get my blood drawn. For all I know they screwed up on purpose. So I had to find an other way to get my blood drawn since I needed it for an appointment the next day. I strongly suggest going to the other Quest in the general area, Hayward or Castro Valley. And management really needs to look into this particular office.

It is a terrible idea.. given that this quest diagnostics is in the heart of Chinatown.. with many middle age folks to elderly seniors who have a barrier with the technology..... sure, you can switch the language to Chinese but... that doesn't work for everyone. Fortunately for me, I asked one of the technicians when she was getting someone when I needed help because I didn't bring the insurance card and it kept asking me to scan the card.. I had the insurance info on the referral sheet though. The technician helped me and said I have to press "no" to consent since I don't have it. Then, I checked in. SHE KNEW THAT.. BUT HOW IS ANYONE ELSE SUPPOSED TO??? Completely not her fault at all! She's probably had to STOP what she's doing and help so much people... I'll give the receptionist a 4.5/5, only because she didn't know how to spell a word and asked me to spell it out for her, I also had some time to think while waiting. My appointment was at 10:30 a.m., and I arrived at 9:58 a.m. It took me two minutes to check in very easy and straightforward. Although there was no one there, I had to wait until 10:30 a.m., and that's fine because I had nowhere to be. I did see the receptionist get up and help an elderly woman sign in. I've had my share of lousy lab experiences, but this one was surprisingly positive. My husband and I could not get the scanner to recognize our appointments, and though I wish they had an actual human in the waiting room for customer service (the reason not 5 stars), when I got the attention of the folks behind the closed (and locked) door to the lab area, I got friendly service to help get things on track manually. We were both seen within a reasonable amount of time from when were scheduled, and my phlebotomist, Michael, had a really nice way about him. He was happy to get me into a chair that reclines because I have anxiety; he got that needle in with zero pain; and he kept me talking and distracted through collecting 8 tubes of blood, though I'm glad I was in the reclining chair because I did feel woozy toward the last few tubes. I usually end up with some bruising the next day, but there's none, and my arm isn't sore. 5 stars for Michael and many thanks! :)
