This lab is totally user unfriendly. There is no human contact in the waiting room. There is no way to reach them on the phone. Making appointments are required but they are weeks if not months to wait. I came as a walk in but I have no idea if I'm on a list. There is a wall between the lad and the eaiting room. No window. No humans. Just a pad on a pole. I hate this lab! read more

After trying to go to the Mowry location yesterday and being met with senseless service, long waits, and rude staff- it was the opposite from my impression here. Practically empty waiting room around 3pm on a weekday with a much smaller waiting room as well. Whole process was quick and easy. I had an appt that I made the night before. The phlebotomist who drew my blood was friendly and did great! Most painless experience yet. Barely felt the poke and he kept his hand super steady with each collection tube change. Sometimes resulting in a long wait, other times the lab never received my doctor's orders, or even not having the most gentle experience with getting the blood work. I am disabled and mobility challenged. My doctor ordered a lab test but I needed information from the lab. YOU CANNOT GET A LIVE BODY TO TALK TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. Damn ridiculous. Because they're too lazy to answer their phone. I can't get the information I need prior to going in. If I go in without the required information, I will have to make a second trip. It's very difficult for me to get there once let alone twice if I don't have the required paperwork or information and this is totally unacceptable. I don't like to leave negative reviews, but they must have some way for people to get in touch that need information not covered by their talking robots. read more

I'm not surprised this place has such low stars, in a word it is awful. My neurologist referred me here to get some tests done before my next appointment, so the paperwork and all of my information was pre-submitted well before my appointment. Yet, the tech, Marisela, who was extremely unprofessional and rude, tells me at my appointment that my insurance is not accepted. How is this information just being discovered when I'm checking in for my labs, after fasting for 12 hours plus taking time off from work. It literally makes no sense why due diligence isn't performed BEFORE an appointment so that a patient's time is respected and honored. If you have to go here for any reason, it's up to you to make sure the professionals have done their part so that your time isn't wasted with merely a shrug of dismissal. My family and I come here for routine blood work, and have never had any issues. I appreciate that they take appointments and also allow you to wait outside to be seen, to avoid cramming people into their waiting room. I like Quest Diagnostics a LOT better than Labcorp, which in my experience have rundown offices and are in dire need of an office space update. My advice for Quest: 1. Make an appointment 2. If you do a walk in, be prepared to wait in the mornings as there are many people who are fasting and in the office first thing to get their blood drawn 3. The two experts withdrew blood from me quickly and relatively painlessly. The wait is brief. Both times I was there, walk-in or apt, it didn't make much of a difference. Great location, my favorite Bay Area Quest location by far. Always fully staffed, very clean, early location to find, and always has available parking. Marcelina is Amazing!! I have very deep veins; therefore it is always difficult to withdraw blood in my arm. I had mastectomy in my breath. I can only withdraw blood on my left arm. Most nurses or technicians had to put the needle and dived in to search my vein. Usually they would have to poke me SEVERAL times before they find my vein. It was not only horribly painful; the worst were all the BLAMING from the nurses or he technicians. I have just had a bloodwork this morning in this location. It was amazingly quick like magic. Because it was super quick, there was no time to feel the pain!! I did not have appointment. I just walked in and had my service done very soon!! I will definitely comeback in the future. read more

I wish I could give them Zero stars .No one was at the front desk for questions and concerns the office had so many patients waiting for what ever needs were . I had a scheduled appointment , apparently some one in the rear said my Moms name was not on the form and had and she had and she could not find her on the kiosk .. I printed and screenshot like I always have for my mother and showed it to her . She gave some lame excuse were" Were running behind and I can read Thank you " apparently you cannot comprehend as well ! You can hear them giggling and laughing in the back than someone went on lunch as 2 more arrived back from lunch I was listening . "Why Why are 2 on lunch at the same time and the third Lady should have waited until the other 2 returned I I ALWAYS make my appointments normally in Sanleandro . Than some lady finally arrives and claims she cannot find the facsimile the Dr. Office confirmed she had already faxed over . But she shows me some Doctored up paper with My Moms first and last name on it but she claims it was a pregnancy request from Florida . That makes NO SENSE at all .. In the past, this clinic was efficient and I was able to make appointments quickly. But now I am trying for the second time to get a blood test. The first time for some reason the appointment confirmation did not go through. And when I got there, I was surprised that the front desk area was completely covered so that I couldn't ask for help unless one of people came out to call the next person. It is much more crowded than I ever remember it was. The second time I ensured that I got a confirmation along with an appointment . I ended up waiting for 25 minutes and when my name was called I was told by a rude worker that she does not have my paperwork from the doctor and requested that I get the paperwork next door. When I returned that same worker, who I told that I need to get back to work and I can't wait much longer anymore, told me that she can't take me because there was a person in line before me . I was pretty frustrated at this point because I was waiting for 40 minutes already up to this point. Thankfully, within 5 minutes, a friendly worker named Jason quickly got my blood test done. I am honestly disappointed at how inefficient this place has become. I get my blood drawn monthly for my Accutane acne medication and usually they do so well. But there was this new worker that I've never seen and she was so aggressive. She pulled the needle out too fast and at a wrong angle and tore open my vein. I now have a huge bruise and it hurt so bad for the whole day. They have the worst customer services in the world, tons of patients had super bad experience. Because of the insurance coverage and location. They don't have choices to move others, so they need to come back. I was at the waiting room after I checked in. Then I don't see my name on the screen, so I did it one more time after 15 minutes. It still didn't show up. So I waited at the door to see if there had anyone can help. When I saw someone, I asked the technician, he replied with a very unprofessional attitude. Seem like many patient asked questions, he was not supposed to answer your questions. There was no services at all, we are not expect a services like restaurant, retail store or others. Just a simple questions. They still don't willing to answer. it makes a lot of patients miss their best time to treat, because no appointments and even though they accept walk-in, it takes forever. They said you will be called, it takes 5-6 hours, but finally they told you that was not guaranteed. It shouldn't tell the wait time on the screen 30-60 minutes, but end up you waste your whole day. I would never recommend this place. Every time we've gone there they're always so cold look so bothered don't greet say hello or speak not nice at all; when I said on the sight says walk in okay that's not true. Was told wont be seen if don't make an appointment. Told them had a problem with the site. The black phlebotomist there replied no one else is having problems. Told can't be seen without appointment. Even though tried again and had problems with site. He could care less. Didn't offer any help or suggestions. I end up calling the number for my 87 yo aunty. We got there at 9:30 10:00; appointment available made was 3:30. He still hadn't asked if we got appointment. I had to ask if she could be seen earlier since were there. Only then he said have a seat. Today 10:17/22 returned for labs again. So sad they don't speak. Really cold office. Dread having to take my aunty there!!!!!! read more

Marcelina was Very unprofessional with walk-in customers. My mother and I arrived at 10:40a with one waiting before us. 4 appointments came in throughout the time we waiting and were treated. The last of which appointment was at 12p and at 11:45a they removed my mothers name from the board called my mother's name and then said never mind they will treat the 12p appointment before treating my mother and she would need to continue to wait. The staff member Marcelina told my mother it's the lunch hour and the policy here is appointment only. She gave me a stack of cards and said call and check when you call it says appointments only "Appointments are our policy" This was a very horrible experience for my mother after having a great hospital visit. The worst -- I will never use this company again. My Doctor ordered a full panel of tests. Quest forgot to perform one of the tests. They told me total cost of tests, and charged me $106. 3 months later, they sent me a bill for $344 -- completely ignoring the $106 I had already paid. I called Quest to deal with this, and the person I spoke to was an idiot, telling me "You weren't charged for the test we forgot to give you". So what? Now I have to contact my Healthcare company to try & straighten this out. I am seriously considering legal action. I don't have time for this BS. Do you? I've been over an hour for an APPOINTMENT at 1:30pm...what's the point of making an appointment if you're not going to be attended to when it's your appointment time. When they finally realized I had been sitting in front of reception for an hour they asked the guy, Joe, to check the email I sent, apparently I had misspelled something but you're going to wait over an hour and take walkins and other appointments when I had an appointment at 1:30??? I could hear them having a good time in the back while I wait having my time wasted. I'm a nurse and I understand the process, but this experience is ridiculous. Please do not patronize this business the customer service here is horrific. I arrived without an appointment at 1030 am. There is no receptionist and you have to check by using a kiosk. There is a sign on the kiosk advising that there is a 30-45 wait time for walk ins. The 3 people that were in the waiting room when I arrived were all now inside having their blood drawn. Approximately 10 minutes later, all 3 were finished and left. I sat alone in the waiting room for another 10 minutes, when another customer checked in. He was immediately admitted and he too had his blood drawn. Over the next hour, this pattern continued and it seemed very clear to me that they had no intention of ever drawing my blood. I'm guessing that during the numerous brakes that they had between appointments, these lazy employees had to check their cell phones at every opportunity. Finally after an hour of sitting and waiting I had had enough and asked an Indian male phlebotomist how much longer it was going to be. He asked me if I had an appointment, to which I responded no. Then the smart ass told me I should have made an appointment. I uttered a few choice were to him and left, NEVER to return. These people are HORRIBLE!!! read more

I went to the Quest, Castro Valley location about a week ago to have blood drawn. An older woman, rather short and a bit overweight, who had an accent (not sure where from) was the technician I had to deal with! Everything went fairly smooth, right up to when she got the blood in the tube.. She then put a small piece of gauze, folded over, and about one inch square over the needle hole. As usual, I started to put my finger on the gauze so she could put a piece of tape over it. Before I could press the gauze down with my finger, she suddenly grabbed the gauze. It fell on the armrest and smeared some blood on it. When I asked this woman what was wrong, she angrily snapped at me, telling me to just let her do her job. She then proceeded to put an enormous piece of gauze over that small needle hole. The piece of gauze was about 2 inches by 3 inches. It required an extra piece of tape just to hold it down. It was totally unnecessary to use that much gauze. The original piece, one inch square was all that was needed. There was still blood on the armrest, from when she dropped the first piece of gauze on it. I told her about it two or three times, and she said she would take care of it. We both walked out of the room (#3) at the same time and she still hadn't cleaned up the blood on the armrest. The hepatitis B virus had recently been detected in my blood, and it is transmitted to others through the blood! How dangerous could that be for the next person in the same chair? This woman was not only rude, but incompetent. Why would she suddenly grab a normal-sized piece of gauze, and replace it with a piece many times larger? When I got home and took that big piece of gauze off, there was one little blood spot on it! The one inch square piece would have done fine. I'm reporting that technician to one of the supervisors that deals with employee problems. she should be replaced! read more

THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE First off, I am not a newbie to having my blood drawn, and I have large enough arm veins that would make any phlebotomist smile. I have been here for two blood draws. Both experiences were aweful. Long wait regardless of who is in the room Rude customer service The two phlebotomists claim to be 'long term experienced' BUT forget it. They are both terrible. the last visit I had resulted in my arm swelling up with a huge knot at the draw site. Hurt like hell, and turned into a bruise that covered half of the inside of my arm. It's now been three weeks and although the knot is gone, the bruising still remains and my arm is still really sore. I see my doctor tomorrow for the face-to-face discussion of my bloodwork, and what has happened here. BOTTOM LINE - DON'T GO HERE !!! read more

There is one nurse here that really does not care about the patient at all. Three times I've had my blood drawn by her and three times she's caused some injury, mainly the way she pulls the needle out. She does not pull it out correctly and instead decides to life the needle upward while pulling it out causing a rip in the skin. Don't have the name of this nurse, but her hair is dyed blonde. Not sure why shes not taking her job seriously but I'd rather not get injured every time I come here. Everyone else there is very nice though, except for blonde lady. read more
