Normally I'd never write a review for LabCorp, but years of dealing with their condescending employees sent my temper boiling over this afternoon. In terms of speed of service, these guys have typically always been fine, in my experience. I've never made an appointment, have always been a walk-in, and am seen almost immediately. Very little wait time. No issue with cleanliness, either. The issue is, 100%, the disgruntled jerks they seem to exclusively hire. Whoever is behind the counter at any given time (usually an older white woman with glasses) is never, ever pleasant. Not even decent. Just these grumbling, unhappy people who foist their bad day -- which seems to be every day -- onto patients. And I get it -- just sitting in there this afternoon you had one guy who comes in, obliviously crashes right into the table next to the door, and doesn't move it back, and a patient who had to be told twice which room to go into. People don't listen and they have rotten attitudes. But unless they've demonstrated rudeness or stupidity, there's no reason to treat people poorly. So when I walked up this afternoon and saw a sign that read the following, I read it as, "this place is appointment-only except during a short period in the morning": "Effective 9/25 until further notice: Due to unforeseen event [typo on their part], San Leandro location will be appointment only with accepting walk-ins when time permits from 7:00-8:30 am." I'm an English major and a content marketer, meaning, I write for a living. Anyone with a basic grasp of English would likely read this as I stated above: appointment-only location except during this short window in the morning, if time permits. Well apparently their phlebotomist, the middle-aged Asian woman who always wears her hair in a ponytail, thinks their poor, typo-riddled writing is so sublime that confusion on my part was just me being either too lazy or stupid to read the whole sign. Because when I asked her if they're appointment-only, she snidely remarked that if I'd read the whole sign, I'd see that they're only appointment-only in the morning. Apparently, what they meant to write was that they're appointment-only from 7:00-8:30 am, with the ability to squeeze in walk-ins during that window only as time permits. Not hard to write unless you're more focused on making everyone around you as miserable as you. I was extremely close to reading the phlebotomist the riot act, but I don't need to get myself banned from a LabCorp so close to my house, which I need regularly. So I just made sure to give her back her attitude in spades the entire visit and wasn't nearly as nice to her as I usually am. My last Labcorps experience was last month. Another exercise in futility reasoning with a condensing Labcorps staffer. I contacted my Stanford doctors and advised them that Labcorps in San Leandro were not representing any measure of professionalism or even common courtesy and actually hindering the Stanford doctors in treating their patients. Quest Diagnostics in the same building as Labcorps was the "polar opposite" of the "non service" . Went for to get a blood test done. I had booked an appointment earlier during the workweek, and thank goodness this place is open on Saturday! I booked my time slot for 8:45am, and once I came in and signed in on one of their sign-in machines, the front desk receptionist was quick to call me and get my insurance cared processed and have me pay for my appointment. Then, when I went back down to sit to wait to have my blood taken, I think I only sat for a minute before I was called by the phlebotomist to take my blood. The phlebotomist I had was really nice, and quick. I think I was only there for 5 minutes, and I was done and out the door! Since I used to be a phlebotomist myself, my one critique is that I could feel the needle in my arm during the blood draw, kind of like a dull stab if that makes sense. But at least he got the job done quickly, just two vials, and I was done. I even got to sit in the waiting room to eat my banana when I was done (I was fasting, and I wanted to eat as soon as my blood was drawn). Quick, clean, and convenient blood draw! read more

Zero stars. NO SIGNAGE on E. 14th anywhere. No signage on building. Barely any signage once you get inside building. Dirty waiting room with only 5 old, raggedy chairs. No instructions for using the scanning checkin. Rude front desk staff. Waiting room filled with people standing bc there is no room plus only 5 chairs. Bathroom also dirty. This is a LAB. THIS REVIEW IS FOR LABCORP CORPORATE AND THE CASTRO VALLEY OFFICE. I have no idea why Yelp! doesn't have a separate page for the Labcorp on Lake Chabot Rd. in Castro Valley, but it does not. Originally this review was just for LABCORP HEADQUARTERS, located in San Leandro (10930 Bigge St., San Leandro, CA 94577; 510-635-4555) and which evidently doesn't have the balls to put its corporate address & phone number up here as a separate entry so that patients can alert each other as to what a scummy corporation Labcorp is. But as for the past several visits, the staff at their CASTRO VALLEY location has been so rude and anti-social that I'm going to take some time to thank THEM as well. Let's start with corporate. It is impossible for patients to get through to the lab locations directly. Even Labcorp's corporate operators can't get through to the labs themselves--NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE!! Then there's the issue that corporate won't replace their small sign in front of their CASTRO VALLEY LOCATION, nor will they trim the "landscaping" (translated: dying bush or two) around the sign. (The zoning laws apparently prohibit decent-sized signage along this stretch of Lake Chabot Rd.) So if you're headed southbound on Lake Chabot Road, a dying shrub (as well as cars parked on the street) blocks what's left of their sign. And if you're coming northbound, YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO FIND THIS BUILDING because the sign has been bleached out by the sun (and has been for MONTHS now--today I actually WALKED right past the sign without realizing it was there--perhaps I should learn Braille?). Now let's get to the staff. Until about a year or so ago, the CASTRO VALLEY location used to have a nice friendly staff. It really doesn't take much: "Please." "Thank you." "Just a moment and I'll be right with you." "How are you today?" "Excuse me." With this group, it seems the very thought of being polite apparently evokes such dread and revulsion that I can only surmise the young women working here fear they will break out in a horrible itchy rash if they even tried being "warm" or "classy"... or (heaven forbid!!) Ok. I wouldn't usually write a review for something like LabCorp, but my experience today during these stressful covid times was so unabashedly positive in every single way that I feel compelled. I was able to easily make an appointment online, seeing what times were available on which days. After that I got an email with a link to confirmation details. I could either print that page out and bring it in to be scanned by the machine in the photo someone posted OR I could click a button on that page when I arrived but was in my car. I clicked on the confirmation button to check in from my vehicle and I got a text within seconds of checking in saying they were ready even though I was a couple of min early. I went in and no one was inside but employees. They greeted me in a friendly way and confirmed my info. They they sent me to room 1 and drew blood right away. I was inside for a total of less than 5 min. The only thing I touched was the door on the way in and out. They disinfect the rooms in between people. The employees were pleasant and wore masks. It was easy, smooth, fast, clean, and limited everyone's exposure as much as possible. Plus I could barely tell that the woman who drew the blood even stuck a needle in me. Labcorp - Castro Valley, the worst. They don't answer the phone nor do they return calls from messages left. I live less than a mile from away so I drove there only to find out they don't accept walk-ins. Instead they suggested I take my father-in-law to the San Ramon location (who oddly enough do take walk-ins.) Took my dad here for a blood test. The building is pretty big therefore you gotta look at the signs and see where you are going. I almost mistaken Quest Diagnostic as lab corps. Both are located in the same building and does the same work and both just down the hall from each other. Make sure you look at your papers or referral from the doctor! Once I've arrived in here I was a bit confused on what I needed to do. The Asian receptionist at the desk told me to check in with the kiosk machine on the right hand side. After that she instructed me on what I needed to do. The room is a little crammed so it was a bit hard to social distance. It is best to stand outside after you check in. Also, try to go as early as 8 am. They seem to be very crowded later the day. We were able to get our blood work done within 20 minutes. read more

My elderly mom came there a few months ago and she needed assistance with electronic check in due to her vision and other health problems, they refused to help her. I have been to at least 7 different Labcorps across San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley.. and this one is easily in the top 2 as far as comfort and courteousness of its employees. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about their efficiency. The relatively spacious waiting area offers a cooler, a hand sanitizer pump, 5 sets of 2 wall outlets, and 9 chairs with wooden armrests. The decor made me feel like I was in a scene from a movie set in suburbia, 1991.. but that's not uncommon throughout parts of the Bay Area. There were 3 people at this branch on a Wednesday morning and as at other Labcorp locations, at least 2 of them handled both the check-ins and blood draws. There are separate rooms for each patient and a restroom is also available within the Labcorp facility for collection of biological fluids or personal use. The friendly employees here will also explain in detail what's involved in your visit if you're doing something that involves more than a single blood draw like I was when I came here for the dreadful 4-draw glucose test. The glucose test requires a blood draw at timed intervals, mine were set for the following times based on my arrival: 8:46am, 9:17am (30mins after drinking the disgusting glucose drink), 9:46am, and 10:46am. My actual blood draws were at 8:46am, 9:22am, 10:02am, and 10:51am based on my phone, which uses network time. I sent myself a WhatsApp message right after each draw, since I didn't want to rely on their clocks. When I asked if I needed to wait until 11:02am for my last draw since the previous one was at 10:02am, they said that my last one was actually at 9:52 according to their computer, which apparently has a different time than all the other 3 clocks, none of which displayed the same time. REVIEWER # 24 I hate to write bad reviews but this one is totally necessary as I am absolutely disappointed in this LabCorp. I really thought the best of them when I walked in and gave then the benefit of the doubt, however, that changed once I noticed and seen how unprofessional staff could be. I was referred here as my doctor is literally two minutes walking from this lab. I was coming in to get my yearly lab work done and walked in at approximately 9:30AM. I was kindly greeted by the lovely Aisha. She checked me in and directed me to the bathroom so they can get a urine sample. I walked out shortly after and then was guided in the room to get my blood drawn and that was when the service went down after that. I sat in the lab room for over 20 minutes before Aisha came back in the room and stated that she was following up with my doctor about a "code" that was on my lab work and wanted to clarify more information. Okay, I thought to myself it wouldn't be that long because I just left my doctor and my doctor's office is pretty efficient in answering calls and responding in a timely manner. After 10 minutes of waiting some more, I was beginning to get frustrated and irritated. I began hearing another woman by the name of Maria talking to Aisha. (Mind you I am in the lab room and could hear their whole conversation from the small desk area that was facing the waiting room, so EVERYONE could hear them). Maria states to Aisha, "Well, if she knows we are verifying and doesn't mind waiting that is her problem. We can take the lab work that we have and if the doctor says it's not correct he can write another referral". OMG, did she really say that out loud! Okay, at that time, my blood pressure was HIGH. I began calling my doctor and demanded that they get this sorted out quickly, I was already waiting for over 45 minutes now and had over 5 people come in and out in no time (WHY WAS I NOT BEING SEEN). I headed back to the waiting room and kept asking Aisha what was the hold up. She kept putting the blame on my doctor that they weren't giving her the code they needed. I didn't understand why they couldn't walk over to the doctor's office or have ME walk back and get clarification, especially if they knew that we weren't getting nowhere with phone calls. I even called my doctor and they were able to answer and stated that LabCorp wasn't answering their phone. OMG! What a DAMN headache. By now, I have already been in LabCorp for an hour. What made me more upset and ticked me off was when Aisha begins putting my business out discussing codes and lab work over the phone in the open area of the waiting room. UMM, TOTALLY VIOLATING HIPAA!!!! She could have taken the call in another room NOT in front of people in the waiting room. She was saying my name and reading codes and telling my doctor that they don't do that code here and began reading the code that they are able to do. Damn, if I wanted everyone to know my business I could have just shouted out my information right there. After two hours of waiting for a dang code, I was finally called in to have the mouthy spanish woman, Maria draw my blood. She apologized then went on blaming my doctor for the code. I really wanted to give her a piece of my mind and tell them they put all my business out in front of all the patients. Mind you, I arrived at 9:30 and left at 11:30AM. I totally understand and know why they have low reviews! The staff here, Aisha and Maria, needs to be retrained to learn about the HIPAA rules because that was cruel and unacceptable for them to do that. DO NOT GO THERE. I went to this wretched place on October 23 for the labwork ordered by my doctor. I gave them a copy of my isurance card (United Healthcare), provided blood and urine sample. The lab technician said the results will be sent to the doctor's office in 2 weeks time. After about 3 weeks when I called the doctor's office, they said they have not received anything from labcorp. This center collected my sample but did not send it to the testing center. How pathetic. And they had the audacity to bill my insurance company for the testing. Essentially they billed the insurance company for the tests that were NOT done and I am left with no test results at the end of 3 weeks. read more

Their technique on blood draw is as painless as anywhere that I've gone to, and if you are friendly and give them respect, it will be returned 200%. You guys need to get it together, first Castro valley is no longer running on the door another patient was just there Friday and came to drop off her sample today (Tuesday) they never informed her about about the possible closure, so I had to call Hayward, Hayward told us we need to drop off sample to San Leandro we couldn't drop off to Hayward don't know if there is any truth to that since they are all lab Corp which is strange and for the inconvenience why shouldn't we be able to take it to any lab Corp since we already wasted time driving down to Castro valley, so I went to San Leandro like I was told Hayward told me they close @3:30 and it also says so online i am here in person and they were walking out the door at 2:55 and said they closed at 3. If you close at 3 fine no problem but at LEAST state this online there are older people who cannot drive and drive themselves to lab Corp and get the run around very poor communication skills,. A worker in the building came to up to the elderly lady and I standing infront of the San Leandro location door and I and told us they leave early that's not right they should have their hours fixed online to avoid this whole mess to begin with and clients always go to their rooms and ask the same question about hours of operation same with the Castro valley location there was NO sign at all saying if you came here to drop off a sample proceed to San Leandro I had to call Hayward. all we are trying to do is drop off the sample our doctor order and it's impossible to do so with these made up hours I left work early to drop off by 3:30 and got here @2:55 like it said online and like the Hayward office instructed me and told me they closed @3:30 oh yeah and by the way when you call the San Leandro office and press 2 for office hours it does state they close at 3:30 the number is 510-895-8466 and you press 2 for office hours from 7 am to 3:30 PM NOT 3 PM if you changed the hours this should be fixed online and on your phone directory to avoid future confusion I shouldn't have to waste my time and go to the location to see the sign they put a paper over that says 3:00 since people are fixing their schedules leaving work early like I did or finding rides to do drop offs weather they don't have a car or elderly waiting for caregiver or bus etc when I was walking out of the San Leandro building there were 2 elderly patients who were upset with the same issue at the door and I let them know there are wrong hours posted because they looked online and it said 3:30 so if this just happened right now I can imagine everyone else who is getting this misleading information. This lab is no better or worse than any I've been to in the Bay Area. They get you in and out with little fuss, and they didn't take forever to find my veins. And what is this nonsense other reviewers are claiming about how they must take your blood pressure every time before they draw blood? Nonsensical. I've had my blood drawn dozens of times in dozens of places and I've never had my bp taken first. They're not nurses. They're phlebotomists, you idiots. Furthermore, the front desk staff are primarily African American, and I find the tone and nature of many of these reviews to be so obviously racist: "I felt unsafe," "they're ignorant and uneducated," "she has a bad attitude." I had to visit the lab once again and the two previous visits have been a drag. The first two times, there was a white lady who seem she was in her living room with her wardrobe. She did not have a name tag, not wearing scrubs or a white coat. She basically was wearing a faded t-shirt and jeans. She was not friendly and bark at you when you simply asked a question. Today visit was much better. I was greeted by a friendly gentleman who seemed to enjoyed what he did. Knowing I had to be there 2 hrs, the staff reassure me that if I needed anything or if I felt sick to let them know. They seem to have improve their customer service and attitude to before. This lab is worse than most I went to while serving overseas as a foreign service officer in the third world. The staff (one person) was both impolite and uneducated. I presented my insurance cards and said this is probably on record. She said that Labcorp didn't keep records. I said all companies kerp records. She said hers did not. I immediately pounted out the filing cabinet there and wondered if it was empty. When I asked why my bllod pressure was not checked she said she wasn't trained in that. Every lab I have been to always checks blood pressure before vblood take. Not here. I had no qualms about telling everyone in the waiting area as I left that it was in their best interests never to go there again. I won't. read more

Arrived at 11:43 for my 11:45 appointment with no one at the desk to greet patients, I thought ok I'll just sign in as usual first then, 11:57 a woman (yes I refuse to use the word 'lady' as u read on) came out and said we're not taking any customers we're closing in 3mins then she just crossed off all the names on the sign in sheet, I said 'I guess making an appointment meant nothing to you guys' then she realized that too late, I walked right out I'm not going to take my chances to get my veins stabbed rudely by a person like her.
