To make small talk I asked the tech why they decided to become a phlebotomist and she said it was because she had a shopping addiction. Nice. She tries twice to get my vein but cannot find it and I'm starting to feel woozy. Then, she goes to get help and leaves me sitting with the needle partially in my arm. From viewing their website, there's 2-labs, 10101 or 10103 building. No signs on the 10101 building indicating there's a lab. Supposedly this lab opens at 7am, but with no signage, I couldn't figure out where it is. The 10103 building is the main hospital. When I went to the main desk, the security guard was sound asleep (seriously, sound asleep). After waking him, he tells me to go to the lower level. I go to the lower level and see nothing that looks like a lab. I'm getting pissed because I purposely tried to get here before 7am. When I return to the desk, I just start asking random employees who are arriving to work. A nurse ends up helping me. She informs the security guard that I need to first register and than go to the 2nd floor lab. While I'm registering, I ask that person about the 10101 lab. She tells me that it's a separate entity. I'm convinced that this is the one I wanted because to go to the one I'm at now, I have to register as a patient, which is a hassle. The 10103 lab opens at 7:30 am.

In terms of speed of service, these guys have typically always been fine, in my experience. I've never made an appointment, have always been a walk-in, and am seen almost immediately. Very little wait time. No issue with cleanliness, either. The issue is, 100%, the disgruntled jerks they seem to exclusively hire. Whoever is behind the counter at any given time (usually an older white woman with glasses) is never, ever pleasant. Not even decent. Just these grumbling, unhappy people who foist their bad day -- which seems to be every day -- onto patients. And I get it -- just sitting in there this afternoon you had one guy who comes in, obliviously crashes right into the table next to the door, and doesn't move it back, and a patient who had to be told twice which room to go into. People don't listen and they have rotten attitudes. But unless they've demonstrated rudeness or stupidity, there's no reason to treat people poorly. So when I walked up this afternoon and saw a sign that read the following, I read it as, "this place is appointment-only except during a short period in the morning": "Effective 9/25 until further notice: Due to unforeseen event [typo on their part], San Leandro location will be appointment only with accepting walk-ins when time permits from 7:00-8:30 am." I'm an English major and a content marketer, meaning, I write for a living. Anyone with a basic grasp of English would likely read this as I stated above: appointment-only location except during this short window in the morning, if time permits. Well apparently their phlebotomist, the middle-aged Asian woman who always wears her hair in a ponytail, thinks their poor, typo-riddled writing is so sublime that confusion on my part was just me being either too lazy or stupid to read the whole sign. Because when I asked her if they're appointment-only, she snidely remarked that if I'd read the whole sign, I'd see that they're only appointment-only in the morning. Apparently, what they meant to write was that they're appointment-only from 7:00-8:30 am, with the ability to squeeze in walk-ins during that window only as time permits. Not hard to write unless you're more focused on making everyone around you as miserable as you. I was extremely close to reading the phlebotomist the riot act, but I don't need to get myself banned from a LabCorp so close to my house, which I need regularly. So I just made sure to give her back her attitude in spades the entire visit and wasn't nearly as nice to her as I usually am. I went with an appointment at 9:45am on a Thursday I could have been in and out but I waited to have my blood drawn laying down so I waited 10 mins for the bed since there's only one. So I was out at 10:00am! They had a very clean waiting room and excellent staff! Well done Quest so happy I went with my gut and went to my closest Quest! ZERO STARS! As with…read moremost of the other reviews this place is poorly staffed and run. It's always backed up with patients and the workers don't seem to want to do their work. While I was waiting, one of the "techs" left to get food. It's bad enough they had about 10 people, with appointments wait for a least an hour to get seen, then to have a worker leave just to get food and a drink. I would think they had snacks or brought their own to eat in the office. I had an appointment and wasn't called until an hour later. And there was a new person who couldn't get my blood, he asked another "tech" to try and she tried twice and still couldn't get it and she blew out one of my veins (see photo) on one of the tries. There's now a big swollen bruise on my hand. I just hope it goes away in a few days. After 3 attempts she says they aren't allowed to try any more and says I could try to go to another Quest to have them try, but they're all booked and I don't want to be waiting 3-4 hours not to be able to get my blood drawn. For all I know they screwed up on purpose. So I had to find an other way to get my blood drawn since I needed it for an appointment the next day. I strongly suggest going to the other Quest in the general area, Hayward or Castro Valley. And management really needs to look into this particular office.

I was most interested in their classes so I joined with the membership offering the most benefits. I thought I'd have a variety of classes to take. On their site they offer regular HIIT type classes availablein the morning and evening, a daily morning 50+ class, their famous bootie class, step, and kickboxing. Their gym is an open space with a couple treadmills, bike, elliptical, and rower. They have hand weights, free weights, and machines. They have lockers and an accessible bathroom. They are in a commercial park with ample private parking. It's all available to women only. I went in to check out the space. The coach at the front desk was super friendly and answered all of my questions. I was able to tour alone. I left, needing time to consider the $299/mo commitment, $75 annual fee, and $100 cancellation fee. I decided to go for it. I had trouble getting signed up on the app, but was able to get set up on the website. The fee was prorated. When I attempted to book my first class, I couldn't find it available. I thought it must not be available that day. It turns out the site is outdated and they don't have a morning class anymore. I kind of kicked myself in hindsight. But, really, should I have needed to think to ask if their site is current? I dropped in for my first (evening, boo) class and I had to complete a few forms. The class was great. I got my xxx handed to me and that's exactly what I wanted. The class was small, maybe 8 of us, and the coach was great at correcting posture and encouraging us to get at it. I was looking forward to day 2. Only to find that the class was canceled but no notice was given. At the front desk the response was 'you should have received an email'. I admit, I was questioning my decision because someone had reviewed about classes being canceled. I did not heed her warning. I also learned that while they say it's okay to drop in, they prefer booking because then the coach knows to show. I was told if at least one member books, a coach will show. If no one's booked, they may not show. I'm really not good a committing in advance because I never know how my day will play out. There is a no-show fee and I didn't want to get stuck. Day 3 I (still) dropped in and got in class. Day 4, I was dismayed to find that even after booking this time, the coach didn't show. Front desk directed me to get warmed up on a treadmill. I hopped on and gave it 10 minutes. I said good-bye at the front desk and she was still trying to get a hold of the coach who she said just lives around the corner. I returned the next day and canceled. Funny, the front desk wasn't so friendly that time, and reminded me of what I was being charged and snidely added that I agreed to the fee when I signed up. A TON of money wasted. It's probably the worst decision I've made all year. They do a great job promoting themselves on IG. I do appreciate their collaboration with other small businesses to promote their products and services. This is only the second time I've given a 1-star review. I always try to offer something constructive. In this case, I'm at a a loss.
