There is routinely a 40 min wait in a crowded, airless, small room and it is hard to get an appointment. They close sooner than their posted hours, since there's always a long, disgruntled line. I had a good experience going here for routine bloodwork for the first time. The staff were helpful & kind, they drew my blood in an expert fashion - no pain, quick stick. I came as a walk-in around 2PM on a Tuesday if that helps. It might be busier during other hours. For check-in, they have a kiosk to scan your ID (drivers license or other ID) and Insurance Card. It's easy to do, the instructions & animations to guide you were easy to follow. For parking, I parked in the designated lot for the medical center. This is where Maps will direct you if you enter the Colby Street address. From the parking lot, the move is to enter the glass doors that say 'building management'. The elevator or stairs up to the 1st floor where labcorp is located (there's no signage to indicate this is the door to access the stairs or elevator, but it is). Elevator is directly to the right upon entry through the glass doors. I will say parking was expensive - it cost $10 for the hour & 10 minutes I was there. But given the location so close to the emergency room, it's kind of unavoidable because finding street parking in the area would be miraculous. Next time I'll check if they validate. I notice this is one of those businesses that has a ton of 5-star reviews, and also a ton of 1-star reviews. This seems pretty common with places like this - labs, pharmacies, dmvs, places where people already don't want to be because they are zero fun and are sometimes understaffed, so if something goes wrong with paperwork or billing it's extra frustrating. So take my review with a grain of salt, and def read all the reviews before picking a Labcorp location. In my own experience though it was a good place to have my blood drawn. read more

I've come here 2x this year. Each time staff were professional and friendly. I hate needles and am always upfront about it. So glad they take that in consideration when drawing my blood. Make sure to make an appointment as they may not be able to see you as a walk-in. While I was there, at least 3 walk-in's appeared. The technician was very upfront about how many people they could see as their appointments were full and she was the only one there besides the receptionist. And yes, there was a note on the door saying appointments only today. I did overhear the receptionist telling people of other facilities they could go to. Nitemarish blood draw by "Trinity". Never had a bad experience with a blood draw in my 61 years. She put a tourniquet-like compression bandage on, plus she tied it below the needle stick area. I have a swollen, very sore vein with a hematoma and can't use my arm. Sloppy work, should not use those compression bandages (I don't care what the new protocol says, they should only be used for severe wounds or post-op or if there's excessive bleeding), and Trinity needs to practice her aim when wrapping. In the meantime, AVOID this place! And the other reviews are correct. The tall, white front desk guy is a d-bag. While I was waiting in the hallway, he showed up at 7:15 AM today without a mask, shut and locked the door behind him while he spread his germs inside until he came out and opened the door at 7:30 with his obligatory mask. My doctor ordered routine bloodwork and I chose this location specifically because it had better reviews than the Labcorps nearer me. I made an appointment for this morning, checked in from my car within 2 minutes of my appointment time and then waited 15 minutes without receiving a text. I left my car, walked the couple blocks over, waited while those in the queue registered and then scanned my code to see if that might result in getting called. After having waited 45 minutes past the appointment time, someone came out looking for the next person, I waylaid her, told her that I had an appointment 45 minutes ago and was still waiting. She communicated with the person on the desk, who then called my name. I told him that I'd had an appointment more than 45 minutes ago and I'd never received a text. He told me "I paged you over and over and over". I never received a text and while I had been waiting in person, my name was never called. I watched others who had appointments after me get called in. After waiting an hour and 10 minutes, I decided if I was not the next person called, I was leaving and would dispute the charge on my credit card. Fortunately, I was then called and told the phlebotomist that I'd had an appointment more than hour ago. She apologized and checked the record. She told me that they had never sent me a text, that they'd had someone faint and the desk person had to assist. I felt vindicated but frustrated that the desk person would not only lie to my face but also would not have taken the responsibility after he returned to the desk to go back and see who should have received a text in his absence. It's not clear that I would have ever been seen, unless I had brought it to their attention. If someone has an appointment, they should be served prior to later appointments. If there was a medical emergency preventing him from doing his job, just say so, instead of making something up to CYA and blame someone who followed procedure. I'm glad I got the straight scoop from the phlebotomist but the desk person needs training. And yes, I am not writing this hangry because I ate when I returned home to break my fast for the requisite 12 hours plus another 1.5 hours due to the delays. Based on my experience, there is no point in making an appointment and I will go someplace closer, if I need to do any further blood work. They may continue to experience others fainting on them if they run this business in such a slipshod fashion. read more

After a nasty visit to the Salano Labcorp I visited this location. First to where there is a LARGE sign for labcorp at the Telegraph address. We walked around the facility looking for the office and was advised by another office that they have moved. How about removing your sign??? The visit was easy and went well but, I question the closing at noon. What do the employees do after a half day at work?? The Labcorp company must try anything to save money as a priority which makes me feel unsafe. I don't like this attitude and wish there was another lab to use. I also noticed on the Salano Labcorp the (3) 5 star reviews from one customer. That will raise the rating level............... Labcorp is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau Association. According to the BBB website, Some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. To be accredited by BBB, a business must apply for accreditation and BBB must determine that the business meets BBB accreditation standards, which include a commitment to make a good faith effort to resolve any consumer complaints, This company obviously does not make any effort to resolve customer complaints!!! read more

The friendliest and fastest LabCorp I've been to yet. The receptionist had bunny ears on along with a great attitude! The phlebotomist was a pro. I was out in a jiffy. They open nice and early at 7:30 AM. I had no wait as a walk-in at 8. Still, it's a safer bet to make a reservation on the website. But you usually have to do so a few days in advance. If you drive, you'll probably have to pay at a meter or use the Alta Bates Hospital parking lot. At least you don't have to feed the meters until 9 AM. read more

All day we waited, and the doctor waited for the results, until finally we found out that this LabCorp "put it in the wrong bin" and it was in transit to a different lab to be done in a few days. This is a review for the lab on the second floor inside the altabates hospital. First I had forgotten my referral but I had a picture of it. I asked to have it printed from en email. They said that they don't have a printer linked to emails, that I have to scan it and fax it. So I had to find someone to go to my house, scan the paper and fax it. After that they sent me to the lab on the second floor. I was there with my baby. They took my baby and started prepping him for exams. I asked what they were doing since I was there for myself and not the baby as written in the famous referral. They apologized and asked me what I was there for. It was for a postpartum glucose test. They did not know which glucose solution to give me. One nurse said 50mg. So that is what they gave me. The nurse missed my vein the first time but after got it right. Two weeks later, after my doctor took one week to locate the result, I noticed that the paper with the result says 75mg of glucose. They gave me the wrong glucose solution and the test is not valid. I have to do it again. I don't think I will. read more

This is a horrible company to try to get service from. They do not answer the phone. They lie at 11:30 am saying they are closed for lunch (12 noon). They lie that they will send patients' lab results. They sent our prescribing MD only 1 of 3 pages of results for each of us and never responded despite requests to supply the full lab results reports. They lie saying they'd send our physician the full lab results--that was 2 months ago--nada sent. Their VM is full so forget leaving a message. II went to Labcorp at 3000 Colby in Berkeley for a blood test. I had an afternoon appointment and only had a 3-4 minute wait. The facility was clean, welcoming and comfortable with socially spaced seating in the waiting room. The staff were friendly, efficient, competent and professional. I have difficult veins but the phlebotomist had no trouble. Having read other reviews of Labcorp I was prepared for an unpleasant experience BUT I had a great experience. Next time I need a blood test I will go to the Labcorp on Colby Street. Also, I found parking on the street close to the lab, but there is also parking in the underground garage available for $2/hr. read more

After a horrible experience at the Lab Corp near Summit Hospital, my doctor suggested I use the one in her building. The phlebotomist was skillful and easy to work with. He even used special bandage tape that does not pull hairs when you remove it. I was able to make an appointment online so there was virtually no wait. The check in with insurance cards went quickly. The place is large enough for a comfortable waiting room and there is a parking lot just one building over (no validation, tho). read more

She took the time to prep and wait and figure out the right spot (instead of just going in and then having to repeat it like I'm used to). She was delightful, professional and only had to do it once! Went to the lab early on a Thursday without an appointment, and already there was a long line of patients. The waiting room was decently stocked and didn't have to stand in line for service. Signed in, sat down with a celebrity interview, and waited to be called when my turn came up. The friendly receptionist turned out to be the same staff member to draw blood. She immediately broke the ice with friendly banter. Within a few minutes we were joking and bonding over both having Oct birthdays and the sizable blood sample was taken with me barely noticing when it was over, so engrossed we were in finishing our conversation. My experience here was seamless. I walked in at 7:45 am without an appointment. I saw clear, concise signage on how and where to sign in. I was called to the desk about 7 mins later by one of the friendliest women I have ever met in my life. Check-in, again was seamless. She found my orders right away. Then she sent me to a room where the phlebotomist met me within seconds. He double-checked my orders and drew my blood. This is the most consistently amazing lab I've ever been too. I'm a really hard stick. The folks handling these needles are easy going, kind-hearted and lovely and get it one- every single time. It doesn't hurt, there's no fishing around and hoping for the best. Just quick one and done. In addition, they manage to keep their cool even when people come in who are angry they have to wait, or are unimaginably rude. As someone who did customer service for many years I can only admire their persistently pleasant customer service since I couldn't have pulled it off at my best (which wasn't terrible.) Terrible experience there. The two times I've been there it has only been one gentleman working and the reception area is full. Today he got upset with me because my address and health insurance information on file in the computer was not correct. How is that my fault? I always make sure my address and health insurance is correct when I can see it and it turns out it is probably my doctor's office fault. After he seemed so flustered and annoyed that he refused to answer any of my questions I had about blood work by saying, 'I don't know anything' and then he put the needle haphazardly in my arm and there was blood dripping down my arm.
