I had 2 appointments at this location, both 1 week apart. While it's difficult getting an appointment (availability is usually 1+ week out from the date you're booking) it's well worth it! On both occasions I've arrived to my appointment and checked in 15 minutes prior as it recommends and I've been called back at my EXACT appointment time on both occasions. I've never had to wait past my appointment time. Check in is self serve on a kiosk (there's no employees / front desk to help) or you can check in on your phone via the text message they send to you. I've been in and out within 20 minutes both times (counting me arriving 15 minutes prior to my appt time) I had a great experience and will definitely return. read more

Great experience! Quick service. My appointment was scheduled for 3:40, I arrived 15 minutes prior (email recommended 10 minutes prior) I checked in immediately and sat down. There were 4 other people waiting already but the screen showed them as walk ins. I sat down and within 5 minutes I was called to the back (10 minutes prior to my appointment time) so I technically did not wait. I was in and out before my actual appointment time. 3:39 I was already out of the building. The staff were very kind and experienced. I didn't feel her poke me AT ALL. DO NOT walk-in here. I've been here an hour. When I got here, I was 4th in line for walk-ins. At one point, I was the only person in the waiting room. They will continue to service the appointments before walk-ins. After an hour and twenty minutes, I asked if they were still calling walk-ins. I was told that they would only call walk-ins when there were no appointments waiting. Here's a lesson on Capitalism kids. When medical care is profit driven, a corporate lab, like Quest, will never staff their sites adequately. The list had 6 appointments and Quest was over 30 minutes behind on them, meaning it's unlikely, with appointments constantly coming in, that a walk-in would ever be called. The monitor also said that 26 people had appointments scheduled within the next hour. So, I never got my blood drawn, and I had to pay for 2 hours of parking at $7/hr. Make an appointment. The staff is working as fast as they can, but management and their business decisions make it almost impossible to walk in. On another note, they close at friggin 5pm. This is a major US city. People work all 3 shifts; especially in this neighborhood, which surrounds a hospital. Again, profit driven healthcare is unlikely to have after hours options because more shifts means more overhead. read more

I went in for an appointment, made sure to come 10minutes before my appointment. When the time came for my appointment they didnt call me. Instead my name was removed from the waiting. As I ask the lady why they still havent called me 20 minutes after my appointment time was , she interrupted me and said no walk ins. With a nasty snarling attitude. Apparently appointment times mean nothing other than you'll be able to get in that day but not necessarily at the time you selected. The facilities are understaffed, causing one to wait over 30 minutes for something that only takes 5 minutes at Kaiser. There is no customer service staff to help you, as everything is done on a kiosk system. And at this specific facility, the woman working in the morning (short, heavier) was extremely rude to everyone. Even if people work here, it's pretty obvious they're only drawing blood from you both literally and figuratively. On top of this, the labs are expensive for out of pocket payers. Luckily Quest has a monopoly on this service so it's unlikely they need to nor will they change their MO. Have fun! read more

However, it became more difficult when staff allowed a man without an appointment to jump the 10 person line because he didn't want to wait. I just had my annual bloodwork taken at Quest Diagnostics on Webster Street in Oakland. I had made an appointment online last week which was easy, got a text this morning a few hours beforehand with a link to sign-in. The sign-in process was a bit off - when I got there, I tried using their screen but it didn't have my appointment in it so then I tried using the link in my text message. That said I was checked-in even though it asked for my location and there wasn't a place or a button to enter the information. This was a bit disconcerting since there aren't staff to check you in. Luckily, it worked because shortly after, the phlebotomist called my name. Andre, my phlebotomist, was outstanding! I am very anxious around needles and medical procedures. But when I mentioned this to him, he asked if there was anything he could do to help me. I just asked for a cold paper towel and for him to take the least amount of blood necessary for the requested tests. He was just so kind, patient, and calming. The most non communicative office ever. Brother made an appointment but it didn't come through so we are walk in. An hour wait while folks move at snails pace here. Personally, I go to Lab Corp at a hospital and it's never a long wait and no appointment needed. They could learn a lesson from LabCorp who will text you so you can wait outside or in your car since there are on 5 chairs in here. Even though we are here, they will take an appointment before us when there is only one person waiting. My mom has to fast also. So we did the walk in, have waited and finally told that we also needed to check in. Argh!!!!! Absolutely the stupidest system. And how does this work for folks who are not English literate? I knocked on the locked door but they didn't answer. I tried calling but the phone number they offered was wrong. There was a urine test ordered along with the bloodwork and they act coy.... did you know the doctor ordered a urine sample? No Well they want a urine sample. Sign here to authorize (but the MD ordered it). Next thing I know I'm on the hook for $215 Why She didn't state the reason I told them run it thru my insurance (medicare) first. I've been reluctant to be serviced by any Oakland health facility, & after visiting this location today, 7/9/25 I have every right to be. I had an appointment at 4, got there 10 minutes early, & wasn't "seen" until after 4:25 pm. After 1 failed attempt to draw my blood the lady asked another 'adequate' professional to attempt drawing my blood. Without even trying, she sent me to another cold room, while they both sufficiently serviced other patients that came AFTER me. This location lacks professionalism, proper time management and consideration for ALL patients. I will continue to go to Pleasanton and Livermore locations where I'm literally serviced and complete within 10 mins or less of my scheduled appointments. I had an appointment but was very lucky to find one open still less than 24 hours before. If you do not make an appointment, you may not be seen at all, as the folks (6) on the standby list that day were told they would not be seen cause they had many appointments and there was no room. My Phlebotomist was excellent. I have bruised many times, some at Quest, from a blood draw and was tired of this since I know it should not happen so now I make sure to tell them to be careful NOT to give me any bruises! He dealt with me with great care and I was grateful and relieved that I left with only a very small red dot from the needle! It was my first time at this Oakland location, came mainly cause I did it at the last minute and it was the only appointment available anywhere but it worked out very well all considered. I cannot stress enough that you need to make an appointment or the likelihood that you walk in and get the lab work you need is slim. Even with an appointment, my wait was fairly long, seen at least 35 minutes after my time. Street parking was easy as people were coming & going frequently & you easily see the lab in the back right corner of the lobby. I definitely would return to this Quest but only with an appointment. read more

Forgot about the blood test I needed before my upcoming doctor's appointment, so I went online to make an appointment at the location in my City, but they were booked up two weeks out. Since I needed the test within a week, the location by Summit Medical Center had openings, which I booked. Since I'm a Quest patient, I just confirmed my information on my account and I was pre-registered. Quest is located in the lobby on the right as you enter the Broadway-Webster Medical Plaza. I tried checking in through the text link, but had difficulty, so I just checked in on the pads in the waiting area. There were six chairs in the room and a large LCD panel giving the status of the check-ins. My appointment was 9am and I was called in around 9:10am. I gave the lab tech my paperwork and ID and she entered the info into the system. She then took the vials of blood and I was all set to leave. This office was more modern and larger than my usual location. Only negative is that they don't have a parking lot, so it's metered street parking, though spaces were easy to find. If I can't get an appointment at the location by my house, I'll be coming back to this location. read more

There was about 5-6 people ahead of me, waited until 11:00am to get called, was done by 11:15. The total time it took for me to check in and leave was about ~55 minutes. Kinda long imo with a appointment. I had to walk back to my car in between waiting to get called to add more time to my car because I didn't think it would take long. I scheduled an appointment for my elderly father. The appointment was for today July 7, 2022 at 4:30pm. My mother took my dad to the appointment and they waited for about an hour or so (because they arrived early), then they were completely denied service (even at their scheduled time). My mom showed the attendant the confirmation code she had, and according to my mother, the attendant just rolled her eyes at her. I am livid my dad is in his 90s he cannot afford to wait around for test performances and results. Which is why I booked the appointment when I did. I never had issue with the morning crew, but whoever works the late afternoon/day shift needs to show more compassion for the elderly. Two weeks ago, the quality of the experience went from ok to terrible. Wait times tripled, waiting room was full. People were actively annoyed and there was no explanation. No appointments seemed to be honored. The status board showed 13 customers being served when there are only 5 testing stations. For twenty minutes at a time, no patients were called in. I spoke to the manager and she said that they were being overbooked on the computer without the resources to handle it and didn't know when it would be fixed. Routine blood work needed. Walked in at 9:15 AM on a Thursday. Put my name in the computer, sat down to wait. From the time I put my name in the computer to the time I walked out the door was 20 minutes. I am taking off one star because when I walked in there were about five people there, and one poor older lady didn't realize that they take the appointments before the walk-in's. The staff had not yet turned on the screen in the waiting room that shows everyone's (shortened) name and whether they are walk-in or appointment, and how long their wait time is. This is an awful experience with a particular phlebotomist that works in this site. Had an appointment today,however, the phlebotomist Grace, could not locate the other. This has never happened to me before. The technicians have always been able to help by accepting me to email the order to them. She said they do not do that anymore. She also "required" masking which is not an issue but currently its no longer "required" but recommended per se. So I am diabetic and fasted but nothing happened this morning. It was a wasted effort. No wonder this place has that negative reviews because of some,not all, of its incompetent workers. I was unlucky to be helped by such an incompetent,unhelpful filipino phlebotomist named Grace. I really don't know what is up with all the negative reviews. I've gone here a few times and had no problems, with an appointment or as a walk in. Yes, they are totally automated now, so there is no receptionist, but the office is efficient and they have a board up which shows you where you are in the queue. I went in today, had an appointment and it was super easy. When I got there I used the link in the text that they sent, and I was immediately checked in. No need to do anything else. They called me right at my appointment time and I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes. The only negative was it was a little hard to find parking today, and with the rain, that was a bit of a drag. But that is not their fault. My tech was efficient and expert at the blood draw and pleasant to boot. No complaints from me at all and I will continue to use this office for tests. read more

I made an appointment here for blood tests and a urine analysis. My complaint is not about the wait time (about 20 min) but the quality of testing and safety. I asked for a butterfly needle but the tech informed me they did not have any. Honestly I have never had a lab tell me that. I have very thin veins and when the tech withdrew the regular size needle she pierced the vein all the way through and I ended up the next day with a 3 inch by 3 inch bruise on my arm. In all my 65 years, I have never had a bruise like this from a blood draw! Then the urinanalysis. They did find elevated white blood cells but nothing else of concern so when I went to have the bruise evaluated at an urgent care clinic a few days later, I asked for another urine test as I was still having bad pain. There they found a very elevated white blood count, positive for nitrites, and a cloudy appearance to the urine, all of which were indicative of an infection according to the physician assistant at the urgent care clinic. I took my 11 yr old daughter here a couple of months ago along with her father on a Saturday morning. They both had an appointment right after each other. I was having issues checking in my daughter with the kiosk machine. I thought I checked her in successfully twice and wondered why her name did not come up on the screen. Long story short, the lab closes at 12:00 I showed the lab tech a confirmation of the appointment and she was nice enough to see her. It did take a little while to collect all the blood samples since she manually had to put the orders in first for the allergy panels. I felt bad, but she was so nice and patient. I was told that I couldn't be seen by lab technician Farina N. because she was taking her last appointment. I asked he when was her last appointment time because on the website, over the phone and on the literature it says that the lab closes at 5pm. I walked in at 4:50pm. As a person who understands the importance of closing time, I wanted to know that time the lab takes their last patient. Farina kept over talking me and told me I was keeping her away from another walk in patient. I told her that she was keeping herself away from the patient. The whole time she talked to me she could have serviced myself and the other patient. Please train your staff better and honor your service hours that are posted. Zero stars read more

So far horrible experience. My appointment time is for 1145A, it's Saturday, and the facility is supposed to close at 12 noon. I arrived 10 min early, parked, debated if I should even put 30 min on the meter, and went into a PACKED location. 4 people were waiting in line and every seat in the waiting room was taken but there were kiosks to check in. Cool I thought, let me check in with plenty of time to spare for my slot. So, the system finds me by my phone number but it says my estimated wait time will be 202 minutes! That's got to be a mistake. Then the last guy in line, not amused by my pace, tells me that they're all waiting and they all have appointments. He proceeds to list off their appointment times 10-something, 11-something-- an elderly woman who is leaning against the wall points out that they close at 12N, then someone chimes in that "the guy" behind the closed door has said that they're not going to close until everyone has been seen. It's now 30min past my appointment time, I'm trying to process the situation, my expired parking meter, nobody from Quest to confirm or deny the situation and I'm just appalled that this is the atrocious level of service that is provided. Hire more people Quest. Pay them properly. How can you run a business this way? UPDATE: It's now 1230. I have 40 min on the meter and came back to check. The board is turned off so you can't even verify if you're on the list. There's a young girl here with her family whose appointment was for 1045A. Her sisters are sitting cross-legged on the ground in the waiting room. We're the only 2 people with appointments left. The rest are walk-ins. A woman says you can't rely on their check in system, she wasn't on the list despite using it. There is only one visible person working at this location. Unbelievable. 1240- Unamused guy just left. Labcoat guy who is pleasant despite the situation told me I'll be right after the 3 girls who had 1045A appointments but weren't showing up on his list. I had 30 minutes on the meter and he said I should probably add another quarter. Going to do that now. 1PM- Elderly woman is back and she has an 1130A appointment. Meter is good for 20min but I may need to add more money on the meter! This is crazy. Girls are still in and it takes about 10min per person. I can't even. I'm afraid to leave and more people come in. Someone chimes in that the meter maid apparently makes rounds at this time. 115PM - Elderly woman left without being seen, added 30min on the meter and girls are still in. No seats in the waiting room do I'm standing; I've had nothing to eat yet. 145PM - Just got to my car. Meter expired. I was called in at 130pm-- 1 HOUR 45 MINUTES after my appointment time. The 3 girls with 1045A appointments had taken 50 minutes. Labcoat guy says he doesn't usually work here and couldn't get into the office to set up until 8A and by that time people were waiting. He says if I had been in the waiting room he would've seen me earlier but not sure how that's possible bc Unamused Guy had an earlier appointment, he was in the waiting room the entire time and he was seen just before the 3 girls. And 3 girls had 1045A appointments. Key points- * Do not use this location, especially on the weekend. * Use the parking garage. Don't park at a meter. * Appointment times don't mean much. You may still be waiting more than 2 hours! * Labcoat Guy was pleasant, competent, but working alone. Quest needs to staff this location. * Waiting room board was not operational. Going to Quest is a painful, unpleasant bureaucratic experience. They treat you like a number and use only digital means to communicate. You can't talk to a human. When someone does come out to the waiting room with any sort of announcement, they are hurried and difficult to understand. The large information screen is mostly not useful. They identify people waiting by the first 3 letters of their first names. A Tom would be listed as "Tho" which looks like someone's last name. The Make an Appointment online process is defective. Once you have entered some basic information and checked the box as to why you need a test, there's no way to advance to anything further. No Next or Submit button is available. These people are deservedly given almost universal low ratings. read more
