(I was already irritated bringing my 74 yo partner here because the google directions suck and once you go up the parking trying to figure out how to find the entrance is challenging already so there is that, and then you have to ask someone where labcorp is because its not obvious and then you have to check in on a stupid machine, which is enraging because i fail to see how increasingly making us interface with screens is making the world better for anyone except billionaires.) uh but i digress. Aside from that frustrating and de-humanising intro to the place, I came along with him because labcorp will not take cash and my partner does not have a credit card, and they have always wanted payment up front before since he's doing self pay. THIS TIME THEY WOULD NOT TAKE MY CARD EVEN THOUGH I AM STANDING RIGHT THERE TRYING TO GIVE IT TO THEM . This is even more infuriating because they have a machine for it, and I went out of my way to go there for this reason. Instead the dude insisted on billing me for it. Not only do i feel it should be illegal not to take legal tender, they now made me have to go out of my way all over again to figure out how to log into his patient portal (he always gets confused) so i can pay his stupidly expensive lab bill after the fact, wasting yet more of my time. We will find an alternative to Labcorp next time. I'm tired of this

I've had my share of lousy lab experiences, but this one was surprisingly positive. My husband and I could not get the scanner to recognize our appointments, and though I wish they had an actual human in the waiting room for customer service (the reason not 5 stars), when I got the attention of the folks behind the closed (and locked) door to the lab area, I got friendly service to help get things on track manually. We were both seen within a reasonable amount of time from when were scheduled, and my phlebotomist, Michael, had a really nice way about him. He was happy to get me into a chair that reclines because I have anxiety; he got that needle in with zero pain; and he kept me talking and distracted through collecting 8 tubes of blood, though I'm glad I was in the reclining chair because I did feel woozy toward the last few tubes. I usually end up with some bruising the next day, but there's none, and my arm isn't sore. 5 stars for Michael and many thanks! :)

You have ONE JOB. I've been here so many times, even with appointments and they can't find my lab order. Why do they even exist. Poorly run location. Just, burn it to the ground!!! I had a good experience going here for routine bloodwork for the first time…read more The staff were helpful & kind, they drew my blood in an expert fashion - no pain, quick stick. I came as a walk-in around 2PM on a Tuesday if that helps. It might be busier during other hours. For check-in, they have a kiosk to scan your ID (drivers license or other ID) and Insurance Card. It's easy to do, the instructions & animations to guide you were easy to follow. For parking, I parked in the designated lot for the medical center. This is where Maps will direct you if you enter the Colby Street address. From the parking lot, the move is to enter the glass doors that say 'building management'. The elevator or stairs up to the 1st floor where labcorp is located (there's no signage to indicate this is the door to access the stairs or elevator, but it is). Elevator is directly to the right upon entry through the glass doors. I will say parking was expensive - it cost $10 for the hour & 10 minutes I was there. But given the location so close to the emergency room, it's kind of unavoidable because finding street parking in the area would be miraculous. Next time I'll check if they validate. I notice this is one of those businesses that has a ton of 5-star reviews, and also a ton of 1-star reviews. This seems pretty common with places like this - labs, pharmacies, dmvs, places where people already don't want to be because they are zero fun and are sometimes understaffed, so if something goes wrong with paperwork or billing it's extra frustrating. So take my review with a grain of salt, and def read all the reviews before picking a Labcorp location. In my own experience though it was a good place to have my blood drawn.

The phlebotomists, however, are lovely and well-meaning.

BUT HOW IS ANYONE ELSE SUPPOSED TO??? Completely not her fault at all! She's probably had to STOP what she's doing and help so much people... Since then, I have been on hold for nearly an hour each time I call in, and no operator will pick up the phone. I've had an urgent referral sent over and can't even reach anyone to make an appointment. I've been to other Stanford Health clinics and didn't have this kind of experience. Upon checking the address of this Kaiser, it is the one where MacArthur Broadway Shopping Center used to be over 50 years ago. (3600 Broadway) I have visited this Kaiser to get my prescription refills because the Alameda Kaiser pharmacy is temporarily closed. The cafeteria is a decent one to have breakfast and lunch. They have a nice atrium with plenty of plants. Last year in April, I was hospitalized at this facility. I had a mild heart attack and remained there for about four days. The nurses during the day shift were wonderful and took care of me. However, the nurses on night shift wete not as attentive. I had to use the bathroom in the early morning (3 AM) and I pressed the button numerous times for help. Nobody checked to see what was the problem. I couldn't do a pee pee dance while lying in bed. No assistance? Desperate time calls for desperate measure. Okay, I placed my feet on the floor and that triggered the alert button in the reception area. Immediate assistance! They did not want me to get out of bed without being escorted to the bathroom. What was I supposed to do when I could not get any form of assistance? Thank goodness I did not relieve myself on the floor. Drawback: The line for the pharmacy is hella long with people waiting in the hallway to pick up their prescription from the pharmacy technicians. There aren't too many chairs for people to sit and wait. That is bad for people who have problems with prolonged standing. Such is the case for me when I have sciatica issue and the feeling and my being is a pain in my butt. Parking in the garage can be problematic, too, especially when the garage is full. Ugh!

They are leagues ahead of Richmond, which is why I may change my medical care to this facility. Ironically, I came here 30 years ago for surgery and had a good experience. but the surgery was a drive through and I arrived in the morning and went home in the afternoon. This time I stayed for four days, in a private room, and was so taken care of. The nurses were amazing and my doctor, the one who operated, and the doctor overseeing the operation, were wonderful. They really know how to talk to you and see you and actually answer your questions, unlike Pinole where my doctor dismissed everything I said and told me that I was in menopause because she knows my body more than me. She also refused to do the surgery earlier because she said it was cosmetic without symptoms. I had symptoms, but she didn't listen. But Oakland was so different. Even the food was good, I had choices. The Indian food was good. Some of the other options were bad because anesthesia affects how we taste food (for some people). I'm also grateful for my scare of it may be cancer, because it meant that the monster at Pinole was not operating on me and I was in a lot of pain, but I would have moved mountains to get another surgeon. So I didn't have cancer - thank goodness! But the nurses on the floor were caring. They didn't always answer the button when I pushed it, but they were doing their best, and being on an oncology floor, I know that there were a lot of things going on. I have more pictures and will post. The only wrinkle was that transport was slow to respond to my request to leave, but I learned that there were only two people on deck that day, so it took a while. Even he was really nice. I love this medical center.
