They are a terrible company, and I am forced to use them due to my insurance. When ordering my most recent refill, the customer service agent asked intrusive questions about private conversations I had with my doctor regarding my illness and medication--conversations that are not their business. I receive one injection per month, so once it is administered, I have no medication left on hand. Despite this, the agent insisted I was attempting to refill too early and claimed I should still have medication available. He then stated that the prescription was written incorrectly. When I called back to confirm whether my order was actually being filled, a different agent had no record or explanation as to why I was previously told the refill was too soon. It is now February, and my last refill was in December, which only covered January. I have been calling since mid-January to obtain my regular February refill. This company is a joke. Their incompetence and lack of communication are unacceptable--especially when handling life-saving medication. If you use CVS pharmacy, STOP!!! They are the worst company and don't care about their customers at all! We were forced to switch to them for our daughter's specialized medication last fall. January 1st we got new insurance. We should have had 4 doses delivered since then and we've received NONE!!! 6 weeks without meds is unacceptable! They never call to communicate and have even cancelled orders without telling me. When I call, they always have a different excuse! First it was they didn't have the pre approval. Then it was the wrong department, then it was waiting on "insurance verification". I called and raised a little hell on Thursday and she was supposed to speed it up. Meds were supposed to arrive Saturday.... Guess what? No meds. No call. I called today and they now need our copay assistance because the copay is $6200!!!! Keep in mind, all this information was provided to them by me or the doctor's office in January!!!! UPDATE: CVS Says they will overnite my medicine before 9am. I agree great decision. Almost immediately I get a text and emaail telling me to refill my medicine that had already been requested. WTH? Then 2 hours later I receive a text message saying my delivery has been changed to 5 days from now due to the 4th holiday and weekend with no shipping. Ugh. Now today at735AM my doorbell rings with the medicine delevered UPS. WTH? Their service is so messed up. You are getting it, no you are not, yes you are getting it, no you are not, to now it is here. Ugh. Nothing is accurate at all. Epic fail after fail. At least now, this month my meds are here. Who knows about next month? Awful service. Actually beyond awful. If you want to be on the phone for 45 minutes to an hour every month to get your meds and then they do not ship it in time, then CVS is for you. They will raise your blood pressure and just keep apologizing. This is the 3rd time that they asked me to refill my meds, and the 3rd time that the delivery date it was supposed to come, has passed. Why ask me a date for delivery for a refrigerated drug if you just ignore it and do not ship it? EPIC FAIL. Everyone has to put you on hold and transfer you. Today after dealing with the robot chat online, I got transferred to a person, who 15 minutes into my chat, disconnected me. EPIC FAIL! There is ZERO service or caring about a customer needing medication in a timely manner. You cannot order it early or the insurance will not pay. So you order it over a week before you need it. Now add a holiday (the 4th of July) and they still do not ship it. Even the pharmacist said that it would ship with no issues. Here I am at home waiting for a delivery that never even shipped. The pharmacist even assured me that my meds would not be held up. LIE!!! It was never even shipped. It probably would have sat in limbo had I not called and wasted another hour of my life checking on it. Total BS. I am so fed up with this mail order pharmacy and the "ship when they feel" attitude. I do not know how people can use this service by choice. I have to use it due to insurance. 1 star reviews must mean that it is a crap shoot to get your meds on time. I had to switch to CVS specialty because of a change in insurance. I was on the phone with them for 45 minutes but was finally able refill my prescription. They told me it would be delivered 3 days later. The medicine never arrived and on the 4th day they sent me a message saying that they didn't cover my insurance after all and I had to switch to a different pharmacy. They didn't give me any information on how to reach the new pharmacy. Once I was able to get ahold of the new pharmacy CVS wouldn't allow a transfer of script (even though they never actually did anything with it) so now I need to wait 5-7 more buisness days for my meds to be shipped. read more

This pharmacy is, by far, the worst pharmacy I have ever had the unfortunate experience of using. For some reason the corporation that I work for forces us to use CVS Specialty Pharmacy. It is the only pharmacy my insurance will go through. Every single month I place my order for the same medication that I have been on for almost an entire year and every month I have to call in and wait on hold to find out why they declined my order. I then have to call the co-pay assistance company every month to verify that everything is still in order and then I get to call CVS back to tell them that they are wrong and to demand that they process my order. I am about to have to ask my doctor for a prescription for Xanax so I can deal with the anxiety I get every time my medication runs low. I am going to try to find out if there is any way that I can get around using this pharmacy in the future. It's not enough that I have an autoimmune disease that requires specialty pharmacy meds, but this pharmacy makes getting those meds as easy as walking a tightrope. Overnight delivery the next day was promised as a fix... They forgot to ship the medicine so they called me the next day to tell me they can't get it until yet another day, and yes, I'm still out of my medicine. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I have been taking Humira for almost a year. When I started taking the medication, I was using a different insurance company which was contracted with Briova pharmacy, and I never had problems getting my medication shipped on time. Now that I have switched insurance and have to use CVS Specialty Pharmacy, I have had problems every single time I have tried to get my medication reordered and have received terrible customer service every time there has been a problem. Initially when I switched, CVS didn't think they had a prior authorization from my doctor's office. After a week and a half of calling back and forth between my doctor's office and CVS daily, and my doctor's office faxing over multiple copies of the prior authorization, they finally realized that they did have the prior authorization all along. During this time I missed one medication dose. Every time I call to reorder my medication, I wait on hold anywhere from 10-20 minutes before my call is answered. Today I was on hold 25 minutes before somebody picked up the line. Three weeks ago, I called to order my medication. The representative I spoke to told me that my medication would be shipped the next day and should arrive at my local CVS (where I pick up the medication) the day after that. When I went to pick it up, the medication had never been delivered. Nobody from CVS called me to let me know that the medication was not shipped. Because I had to call and reorder, my medication dose was delayed by several days. There were no apologies for the missed dose, and when I called today to order my medication, I was told I have to wait or readjust my dose schedule because of the last dose being shipped late, and therefore billed to my insurance late. I could go on, but the general picture is a company that is understaffed, incompetent, and insensitive to the needs of patients. Every time I miss a dose of my medication, I increase the risk of forming antibodies to the medication that will make the medication less effective. If there was any way to switch the company that fills my medication, or even switch to a different insurance that fills medications through a different specialty pharmacy, I would do it in a heartbeat. If you can avoid working with this company, I would recommend going with any other option. read more

If you have a choice, do not use this pharmacy. Unfortunately, I do not have a choice for insurance issues. But I get Specialty pharmacy orders monthly for the past 3+ years and am amazed at the waste and incompetence of this company. I am surprised when an order received is correct. I cannot remember the last time that the order received was exactly as requested. They are not proactive about running claims through insurance until the very last minute, so if there is a billing issue or insurance issue, the result is missing a dose of your medication. They send supplies that I tell them not to send (this is the waste I speak of), and miss things that I do request. I've asked for Supervisors multiple times, and NEVER get call backs. read more

I used Walgreen's Specialty Pharmacy for many years and had a great experience. When I went on Medicare, had to change insurance and had to use CVS Specialty Pharmacy. In just 6 months of using CVS I've had several bad experiences. The last one finally did it for me. I needed a temperature sensitive medication and wanted to make sure it would have plenty of time to arrive during the week, so I ordered it on a Sunday. It is sent 2 day air, so I figured it would process on Monday, and arrive on Wednesday. To make a long story short, it didn't even ship until Wednesday, UPS delayed it again, and it finally arrived on the following Monday, 8 days after I ordered it and the medication was warm, not refrigerated. When I determined the package was going to be late I went on the UPS web site to research how to file a claim. It said that basically the shipper had to file the claim because they were the ones that contracted with UPS. I tried to call CVS and couldn't get past the automated phone system and it's preprogrammed answers. I finally sent an email and got a reply that said once we give it to UPS our responsibility ends. UPS said I needed to deal with CVS and CVS said I needed to deal with UPS. I've filed an initial claim with UPS, but I'm now dependent on both UPS and CVS to settle this and get me usable medication. Meanwhile, my usable medication is rapidly running out. read more

Terrible service. NO communication. I ordered a medication that requires refrigeration & shipping to my home each month on Dec 26, to be delivered on Dec 28. I received an email from CVS specialty pharmacy that the prescription was ordered and expected delivery date was 12/28/18. It did not arrive. I called to follow up and was told that there was a new delivery system in place & the prescription did not get shipped. There was no attempt to contact me and the prescription order just sat 'on hold' in their system. I've been told it will now be processed correctly and shipped so that I receive it on Jan 2. A similar thing happened 10 days ago when I was having a new prescription filled by them. It did not get shipped and the order just sat there, with NO communication attempted to me. Picked up a prescription via drive through after receiving emails saying it was ready. Got hope, opened it only to find the wrong dose - an older prescription. Called and was told it was my fault for not checking the order. Refused any kind of refund or exchange. Repeatedly told it was my fault. So, at CVS you cannot trust their pharmacist to fill a prescription correctly and must check up on them. Very unprofessional and basically makes clear they have no requirements for pharmacist. I wish I could give it less than one star! I am a heart transplant pt waiting 4 days for a medication. Every day I am told that the medication in on the way by UPS. I have at least 5 names of people that I spoke with that assured me my medication is "coming today". I asked to talk to a manager....but always told that he/she not available. If incompetence was an Olympic Sport, CVS Specialty Pharmacy would win the gold medal! Even before the SARS2 virus outbreak their service was inept. Even when they had an open credit card to bill my copayments, they failed to do so for 9 months and then threatened to cut off drug shipments for lack of payment! What do I have to do --run the credit card for you!? Once they finally charged my card, the hold order on my account persisted for over 6 months! When I discovered that I could get assistance in paying for my medications, they bungle that process too! Why can't they look and see how the claim was processed the last order and duplicate it?? The phone service is remarkably SLOW! A 15 to 20 minute wait is typical! Only one in 3 phone operators taking my refill order is even remotely competent. This is a horrible company. Even after speaking to the top three people Phil Malaboff, Dawn Matras and W Scott Backus, the director, who incidentally came from Comcast Cable, they refuse to do anything on any terms but their own. A refill was ordered for my daughters prescription. She has been on this medication for 15 years. 10 with CVS caremark with every monthly reorder being stressful. After the refill they waited until the day of shipment to state that there were no more refills. They said the Dr did not respond but could not communicating with the Dr. The Dr was then disturbed again, attempted to fax the form back to them... but the high ranking executive who gave her the fax number gave her a non working number. The Dr office than faxed to the correct office. Having received a promise from a manager I would be notified, I did not. I call the next morning and three hours later I am still being told that the Dr never sent it back. Then mysteriously they said the Dr office faxed it at 9:19 this morning. This was in fact impossible since the office was closed today for the Jewish holiday. Than they said that maybe that is when it went into their system. 24 hours after a doctor faxes it to an immediate fill line. They only stated that after being told there was documentation on the time that CVS accepted the fax. They refuse to call back and shuffle you around like a ping pong ball. This by the way is an 18000$ per month... and no there are no extra zeroes, prescription. You would think they would have some semblance of caring. The people at the top are useless, so one cannot expect those on the line making minimum wage to be any better than those at the top. Also as stated by the Director who used to work for comcast... they have a protocol and policy that if someone asks for a manager they are absolutely NOT to be given one. This was after he said the opposite, but later admitted yes it is a written protocol. I would advise companies to find another pharmacy for such prescriptions. read more
