This store is bigger than the other CVS stores nearby. The remodel makes it seem more so. The cashiers are only located on one side at the front of the store and there are so few of them and the wait can be long : ( I've usually found what I needed per the CVS promos that I receive via e-mail. The CVS Coupon machine also works here and doesn't need to be re-booted or run out of paper like at other locations! read more

Today, I came in for a box of feminine products. When I went to the counter to check out, a young male cashier asked me if I would like some dark chocolate to go with my tampons. He informed me that he's "been around a lot of women" and they "always want chocolate around that time of the month." And then continued to drone on about what could help me during this time. What the hell?! I was so embarrassed I could hardly say anything in response. I don't need a 20-something commenting on what he thinks I "need" during my menstrual cycle. I think you need to invest in some harassment training, CVS. Let me buy my tampons in peace. read more

Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after 3 different prescription pickups having major issues - prescriptions not being ready on time, 25 min waits with only 2 customers in front of me while two other people are chatting and laughing behind the counter, sending me to multiple lines when the person in front of you could solve the problem, lack of notification that a prescription was late for a second time. I went here yesterday morning around 9:30am to pick up a prescription for my son. For the purpose of this review, ethnicities must be noted. When I walked up, behind the counter there was a short stubby white woman with glasses, wearing scrubs, and 3 other pharmacists, all of Asian ethnicity, in lab coats. As I walked up to get in line, I heard the short white woman discussing someone she had just spoke with. One of the Asian pharmacists asked, "what did she say?" To which the short stubby white woman responded, "Who knows. She no speakee English", and began laughing, clearly insulting someone who had trouble understanding the language. I was shocked. The only excuse I can give her is that she didn't see me, and had made an ignorant, racist comment while not knowing a customer was there, hearing everything. However, then I heard her ask the other employees if they wanted her to take care of me, as she now saw me waiting in line. One of the other pharmacists told me they'd be right with me. The short stubby woman proceeded to talk about what she perceived as the laziness/incompetence of another employee who had worked the previous shift the day before. All in plain earshot of me, and now another customer waiting behind me. On top of all this, when I finally was taken care of, the pharmacy had misplaced my son's prescription and now needed to re-order it. I left there offended and annoyed. To the short stubby employee with glasses, if you must be such a racist ignorant idiot, please wait until customers aren't in ear shot to hear the filth coming out of your mouth. read more

Hetr's where to come if you want to have a heart attack from arguing with total incompetence staff. Cashiers asking you to use your fingers to enter your card number when other stores are smart enough to have cashiers enter it on their prrsonal register to save germs. The girl with the mask right under her nose is an indication of how STUPID the employees are. Can't think with solutions or even answer questions without requiring you to hang out in a germy store for 30 minutes then cop an attitude when you call them out on it. Has really gone downhill since implementing self-service and remodeling the store. Shopped here since it was Long's and really, really miss Long's. Long's had a family atmosphere and long-time employees who felt like neighbors. Now it has an industrial feel to it that's very inhospitable and I HATE the self-checkout. Pharmacy staff - 18 Oct around 6:00PM - impatient, condescending, unhelpful - Pharmacist was on dinner break - should that matter? Maybe the young woman with the beautiful name had a bad day. Well, so did I - but I didn't share it. I had just picked up my husband from the JMuir Trauma Unit and needed a vital prescription filled. Holy cow! Excuse me for bothering you. AND the needed medication was not in stock - what? AND she told me go to the Bancroft location but wouldn't/couldn't call to check if they had it. What?! OK, I need to stop. Walking into the store late in the evening, the manager Lilly was at the door smoking. There was two registers open, one at the door and on further in the store. George helped us at register 6, he was friendly. Very time the door opened the wind carried in the cigarette smoke. With all the health concerns it seems the manager of the store would take more concern for her customers. We will not be back. read more

The bulk of pharmacy employees at this location have been downright awful for many years. It's been brought to the attention of the pharmacy mgr, the store mgr and area mgr yet nothing improves. This CVS has a huge parking lot. They are conveniently located in Walnut Creek near the freeway. The restroom is gross, but if you gotta go, you gotta go. The customer service is okay, nothing spectacular. I'm really glad that they have a pharmacy. I just like they that are always open, and that you can get discounts when you buy multiple packs of stogs. read more

Even though they scanned my card they didn't accept my extra bucks and when I explained and showed clerk that I can check my extra bucks on online and see there is $20 extra bucks available but he called his manager and manager claimed it is just manufactures coupon even though it shows Extra bucks. If I could give this pharmacy a -10 I would. Worst customer service in the Pharmacy. I had five different prescriptions at five different times and each one had an error or overcharge. When I tried to transfer my prescriptions to Safeway it took Safeway five calls, me two calls to Pharmacy - where the staff hung up on me - and two to corporate. They told Safeway to call my doctor themselves, gave them my doctors information (without my permission) and said I didn't have refills available (which I did). Then they told me that Safeway had never called them - which is a lie because they gave Safeway my doctor's phone number. I filed two complaints with Customer Service and never heard from them so have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. They are terrible and can't be trusted with medications. read more

Today a girl with tattoos on her arms and pink hair that's came up to me saying that she has her eye on me and then started to yell at me: unless you intend to buy something you need to leave right NOW!!!". I came in to purchase a few items only to be confronted by a woman who was apparently having a bad day. I do not appreciate when someone is rude the moment you approach the counter. That's what happen. She was so unprofessional and irritated she proceeded to swipe the credit card keyboard away from my direction and tell me "Fine!" As though she was pissed . Because Walnut Creek is one of the medical hubs of the East Bay, there are like 40 CVS's in the area. I'm exaggerating obviously. Whenever I need meds ASAP I have them called into here. It's always busy here. they have like 3 pharmacists on duty. This time they were, you guessed it, busy as hell. It was going to take 40 minted for my baby's antibiotics. I parked in a front spot right by the front door. As I fed the baby in the car I was able to watch all the people coming in and out with their goods. My observations are that no one ever walks out with more than one bag. Most purchases I saw people with were one thing. All kinds of things ranging from candy, milk, Kotex, vitamins. Finally it was done. The line wasn't to long and I was able to quickly get a consultation with the pharmacist. They were very helpful. I've also noticed that the cashiers in the regular store are faster than most CVS employees. Probably because this place is always busy. So this is the go to emergency pharmacy and the go to place for that one item that you need. Just one thing nothing else. read more

I've gone to places before where they'll look up your purchases on your registered card so if you lose your receipt (like me), they would be able to find your purchases and refund you. But no, not here I guess. I was told that they would give me store credit which I refused to take because other places have looked up my phone number and found my purchase through there. I already don't go to CVS and now I'm definitely not going anymore since they overprice their items (compared to Walgreens) and refuse to look up your purchases through their registered card. $10+ for Batiste dry shampoo here and $4~ at target, $5~ at Walgreens. John Muir called in my wife's prescription to this location at about 11am, and they informed the hospital it would be ready in about 2 hours. I arrived at 6:30pm after work to pick it up and was told the pharmacists are "filling it now." I was certain this was a lie because the timing was too coincidental, but hoped that meant they were going to bust their asses to get it ready. 15 minutes later they call a sick elderly gentlemen up and say that his prescription's ready. When he gets to the counter they tell him they are out of stock on one of his medications. He rightfully scolded them for having him wait 30 minutes for nothing. Same thing happens to the next customer they call up. They did not inform her they were out of stock on one of her meds and she verbally executed them. When she asked questions like "Why did you tell me that it's being filled?" "Why are you out of stock?" "Why did you make me sit here for 30 minutes like an idiot?" Every question was answered with silence or defensiveness. Thank God my stuff was ready right after her performance. I give this place 1 star because there is always something like this when I go here. My prescription is rarely ready when I've been told it will be, or nobody is at the counter when they are supposed to be, etc. The problem with this store is that they are not upfront about what they have available and they are consistently slow and dishonest about when prescriptions will be ready. The customer service is completely inexcusable given that I can (and will) fill a prescription at 10 different stores within a 2 mile radius. read more

Worst Pharmacy. They have terrible customer service, both for myself (hung up on me twice before I could even say bye) and my doctor. They always put you on hold and usually it's like "Can I put you on hold for a second?" and they put you on hold without you getting in a word. FOREVER. Horrific pharmacy. lost prescriptions, bad attitude, hanging up on calls or ringing off the hook, putting on hold for 15 minutes, not calling back and asking you to do their job (calling Dr for refill). over all I think the FDA should void their license or we should just class action them or malpractice if there indeed is such thing for a pharmacy. This is serious criminal neglect. it took me 5 calls to them, 1 hours on-hold and two calls to the Dr (who had to fax the prescription again and again) . overall two days to get a prescription filled. I am just shocked that such a place exists in the US. the person who put me on indefinite hold twice (answers with "can you hold" and puts me on hold right away without waiting for an answer) was "Masha " or Asha or something like it. DO NOT rely on them for critical medications. Update: Transferred my prescription to Walgreens on treat. Naturally CVS gave Walgreens a hard time, but all was done after a couple of phone calls (I can't imagine what the nice girl in Walgreens went through though, it did take her at least one day and not for lack of trying - she followed up with me a couple of times). read more

Before I begin, I would just like to state that my review is solely based upon the customer service I received and the demeanor in which AHMAD at the CVS Pharmacy conducted himself. I have been diagnosed with Asthma my entire life so indubitably my doctor has prescribed me a rescue Albuterol Inhaler. I only use my inhaler as needed, when I am exhibiting symptoms (shortness of breath/trouble breathing/emergencies). My last inhaler was running low, so naturally I took my prescription down to the pharmacy to have it filled (This was my last refill on this prescription). Mind you, this was about a month ago according to the records in the CVS Pharmacy database. I had no issues getting my prescription filled and I was in and out of the pharmacy in about twenty minutes. I have since used this particular inhaler one time since getting my prescription filled. It worked fine and helped my shortness of breath. The next time I used my inhaler, it was not working correctly. The steroid/medicine was not distending from the conduit so I assumed I received a defective inhaler from the pharmacy. In an attempt to fix the inhaler, I tried blank tests in the air to see if the medicine would come out. Nothing. Yesterday (April 26, 2014 at around 9:45am) I took my inhaler back to CVS to get a replacement. I first spoke with the receptionist or pharmacy tech and she told me I would have to speak with the manager. The manager on duty was "AHMAD." After describing my situation to Ahmad, he said there was no way to give me a replacement. At first he responded with, "it's empty you need a new refill." This is INCORRECT because I just got my inhaler and there is a dosage counter on the back that says I had almost a full prescription left in my inhaler. Then he proceeded to say it was broken and without mentioning it, accused me of tampering with my inhaler and inferring that I was just trying to get a new one or free medicine. Every time I would try to speak, AHMAD would cut me off, raising his hand in the air and persistently made statements such as, "You're not listening," "it doesn't matter," "I cannot do that," but would never give me an explanation as to why. He made statements that it was "illegal" or that I had no refills left. He also accused me of abusing my medication and because it was a month ago, "who knows what you've done with the medication since." I kept trying to tell him that it's an emergency inhaler and that I don't use it every day (he's the pharmacist so I'm sure he knows). The inhalers start off with about 200 dosages and my inhaler was down to 140 when I brought it. He said that because 60 dosages had been passed, who knows what I had done with my inhaler. I kept trying to explain to him, even demonstrating in front of him, that I tried multiple times to force out the medication by pumping multiple times (wasting the dosages which is why the count is so low) and nothing would come out. Old inhalers never had the dosage count so if this was five years ago, how we would he even know how many dosages I had used anyways? I left the pharmacy and contacted my insurance multiple times. Each time I called, I spoke with a different representative who all told me that the pharmacy should have no issue replacing a defective inhaler. All they have to do is take the bad one, send it back to the manufacture and the manufacture will send them a new one. All the while, AHMAD should have no issue giving me a new one when I return to the pharmacy. They even gave me a phone number to call so that he could speak with someone. I returned to the CVS Pharmacy later that afternoon to speak with AHMAD again and he still resisted. He wouldn't call my insurance and he wouldn't call the phone number I gave him. At this point he increasingly got more and more defensive, and wouldn't even have a normal conversation with me. At one point he picked up the phone but never dialed anything. When he didn't want to speak to with me anymore, he handed me off to his coworker, slammed the phone and walked away. I was able to have a normal conversation with the coworker and I ended up leaving to go to another pharmacy. I have since gone to multiple other pharmacies (Target, Safeway, Walgreens, other CVS locations) who told me AHMAD at this particular CVS was wrong and he easily could have replaced my inhaler for me. Now I get it, maybe this particular CVS is special and they have particular protocols. However, that doesn't give you a reason to treat a customer or anyone the way AHMAD treated me. I completely agree with the other reviews on Yelp stating that the employees at this pharmacy have bad attitudes and mistreat their customers. I was appalled at my situation and just disgusted with my entire experience at this CVS Pharmacy. The entire face of CVS and the CVS Pharmacy brand should be embarrassed with AHMAD. I highly recommend using a different pharmacy where they treat their customers with respect and the courtesy they deserve. read more

Seriously the worst customer service ever! These people are very incompetent and take FOREVER to help you! If there's a problem with your prescription, they don't call you, they wait until you come in and then you just have to come back another time since it will then take them 30 minutes to fill it. Twice now the guy helping me forgot he was helping me and just started doing other things. They never remember your name- you have yell it across the pharmacy to them at least 3 times. All the people seems very unhappy with their lives/jobs who work here- never friendly! I'm so bummed because I just moved right down the street from this pharmacy and I was excited to be so close... now I have to find a different one that further away because I won't waste my time here anymore. read more

I have been frustrated with this place for years and am finally forfeiting the "convenience" of a chain pharmacy and switching to a local one. My complaints are mostly with the CVS electronic prescription system/platform, which runs everything. Half the pharmacists here are helpful and friendly; the other half not so much. The app and online prescription system, which is supposed to make refills and deliveries simple, is constantly wonky, fails to put through refill orders, constantly tries to automatically refill prescriptions despite that I haven't requested them, fails to automatically refill prescriptions that I HAVE requested. When I try to add credit card payment online it won't recognize the card, and pretty much every time I go in person (after waiting in a long line) their computer system is "acting up," freezing, being a general pain in the ass. Just don't go here. It is maddening. read more

My daughter tried to exchange a chapstick that was purchased with a $5 store credit for trash bags. The staff could not figure out the exchange and brought the manager in. The manager Licia refused the exchange saying the credit was only good for another chapstick. When I went in to discuss the matter Licia refused me also but without explanation as to why the credo could not be used for the bags. I left threatening a Yelp review. When my daughter went back to get Licia's store number to report the incident, Licia followed her saying she was going to call the police. She then followed us outside while on her cell phone and yelled that if we came back in to her store ever again she would call the police. I contacted the store relations manager and was given a voice, apology and a $25 credit. I do and did thank her for that. However I also contacted CVS corporate and the CEO and have received no response. Therefore I feel compelled to share our event and warn others to stay away from that store at all costs!!!! If an employee has the audacity to claim rights to "her store" and threaten us over a $5 dispute then you may be the next victim at "her store". read more

Staff could be nicer and they are short staffed so things take forever BUT people also are super mean to them which makes me want to say...they're doing their best. Just need to be patient with them.
