The community is admirably resistant to chain stores (the one survivor can be found dispensing charred, overpriced coffee worldwide), and if PAX had not decided to move here we may instead have had one of the indistinguishable chain drug outlets. Instead we now have a splendid example of a superior, locally-owned business that is both professionally top-notch (I'm a geezer; I know what I'm talking about) and exquisitely attentive to its clientele. The pharmacist/owner, Bella, has a comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy, naturally, but is attuned to her customers. She has retained the staff who have been here for years, and brought in some outstanding people as needed. In short, even if I lived in Pasadena, I would still trek to Sierra Madre in order to get the sort of personal attention you receive here.

It's also just across the street from a medical center that includes various clinics, Arcadia MRI & Imaging Center, and other primary care doctors, so it's a very convenient spot if you need to pick up a prescription after a doctor's visit. My family has been using this pharmacy for years. Their pick-up process is very efficient. The staff at the front are kind and helpful, and they have several people working behind the counter to sort inventory and make sure everything runs smoothly. They sometimes offer delivery services, which has been a big help on busy days. While they carry a selection of over-the-counter products like Solstice products, Tiger Balm, Cetaphil, and Vaseline, I do find that these items tend to be more expensive than at other stores, so I usually prefer to purchase them elsewhere. Overall, Arcadia Pharmacy Center is a reliable and efficient neighborhood pharmacy with friendly service. I recommend it for anyone in the area.

So I called Walter at the pharmacy who owns the business if he would please send me a bottle of certain over the counter medication I need. He refused saying I should get somebody to go to CVS up the street. Unbelievable. Who's all about the money because the medication I needed was not very expensive.

Instead of politely informing me of the mistake, the attendant abruptly wedged herself between me and the register and announced, "You picked the wrong one," in front of everyone waiting in line. It was embarrassing and made me feel as though I had done something dishonest when it was simply an innocent mistake. Customer service is about treating people with respect, and there are far more professional ways to handle situations like this. I understand mistakes happen at self-checkout, but there was no need for the attitude or public embarrassment. In my experience, this employee is rarely friendly, never smiles, and consistently comes across as unapproachable. I enjoy shopping at this store, but I will be avoiding the self-checkout whenever she is working.

They went above & beyond my expectations with the service they both provided to me as a first time patient. Through the phone, I can tell how much more personable, caring, & concerned they were when it came to handling a recurring issue I had with locating/linking my insurance to my account. This was a complete 180 with how they handled this situation the 1st time vs. the multiple opportunities Walgreens had (put on hold for a really long time/long wait times/constant follow ups to see if & when my prescription was ready/repeatedly explaining the same issue with my insurance status, etc.). Anyways, wished I had switched sooner to Ralph's after now knowing how awesome their service is & feeling reassured in their ability to look into & resolving my problem! Also very impressed that they picked up the phone FAST after being traumatized by Walgreen's never-ending phone hold music‍. The pharmacy has a good sized waiting room. There were long lines at both drop off and pick up of prescriptions, but the line moved fairly quickly. I came around 6 pm so it was crowded. I waited about 30 minutes for my 3 prescriptions.
