DO NOT book a vaccine at this CVS location. The person in charge doesn't know how to run the insurance verification. After making an appointment for Covid and Shingles several weeks in advance and arranging my day around it, I had to just leave. I don't understand why the pharmacy doesn't take care of the paperwork before the customer arrives, to save a wasted trip. I called my insurance company as soon as I got home and they confirmed that my insurance covers these vaccines at the pharmacy level. I will never go back to that location again. read more

I don't go to this CVS often - if I'm in the area and need to grab a quick bottle of iced tea or pick up something that's crossed my mind, I'll bop in - but I was left very disappointed by the pharmacy here. As flu season is about to be compounded by COVID this winter - oh, goody... - the hospital I work for has an arrangement for all work - from - home employees to receive our required flu vaccinations at any CVS. I have not had a flu shot outside of getting it at work for the past 11 years, so I jumped at the opportunity to get on CVS's website and schedule an appointment. Easy peasy! Initially, I signed up for an appointment at the CVS on 93rd and Broadway - closest to my apartment - but received a call about 15 minutes later telling me that they had to cancel my appointment because they were out of flu vaccines for the day. Stinks, but I appreciated the quick follow-up. I saw that this CVS location also had available evening slots for flu vaccinations, so I signed up, filled in my insurance info, and received a confirmation that I was scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. appointment. Great! An hour prior to my appointment, I received an automated text, again confirming my appointment with steps on what to do once I arrive at the location, including checking in. As I avoid public transit as much as possible since I'm immunocompromised - better safe than sorry, plus a good way to get my daily steps in, HA! - I took the walk 23 blocks south. I arrived around 6:25, checked in on the app, and followed the directions to head to the pharmacy to the Drop Off / Flu Shot window. A staff member was in the back, and I caught her attention to let her know I was there for my 6:30 appointment. "Oh, the pharmacist left for the day." ...excuse me? "Oh...okay, well, I had a confirmed 6:30 appointment for a flu shot." The woman turned back to her work and just said, "Sorry, they left, sorry you can't get a shot tonight. Try again tomorrow around 11 a.m.," and moved towards the back of the pharmacy area. I don't get flustered too often in front of staff, but I let out an unintentional "...really?! *sigh* Okay...thanks..." as I walked away. Why they couldn't have contacted me ahead of time to let me know 6:30 didn't work is beyond me. Why confirm twice if I'm going to be ghosted? At least my usual CVS was kind enough to cancel, great customer service. In the middle of a pandemic that will be compounded by COVID, most likely, people need their flu shots, and to not honor an appointment as such OR be courteous enough to contact me to cancel or postpone it is just bad customer service. Hard stop. I did contact their customer service line to make a complaint about this incident...but if I don't Yelp about it, did it REALLY happen? Haha! ;-) read more

I just had a tooth extracted along with a bone graft. My dentist asked me where I wanted him to send the prescriptions and I, mistakenly, told him the closest pharmacy to my house. Duane Reade pharmacy was so helpful and told me they didn't accept my insurance but that I could go to the CVS on 77th St. and have the pharmacist call them and they would send over the scrips. Flash forward to CVS on 77th and "Hell Controlling Pills" Kim, their on duty "pharmacist." As I waited to be called to the counter, I witnessed an elderly man ask to speak to the pharmacist and as she was requested by the counter assistant Kim barked, without making eye contact with anyone but the scrips she was filling, "regarding what?" She never made eye contact with the gentlemen and I was called to the counter before I figured out the end of that interaction. At the counter, I explain the situation. The counter assistant seems confused at first but then hands me a form to fill out. I literally had to look up on my phone the number for the Duane Reade near me to write down on the paper to then hand to them, they wouldn't do it for me even though there was no one on line behind me. I did not know the exact medications as the Dr. sent them directly to Duane Reade. As I start to tell the counter assistant what I thought the scrips were, "Hell Controlling Pills" Kim barks, without looking at me, "Tylenol with Codeine is non-transferrable." I mumbled something to the effect of "but Duane Reade..." at which point she cut me off, looked at me with the coldest, darkest, eyes and repeated "Tylenol with Codeine is non-transferrable." So that was the end of that experience. I tried to tell her that she had terrible interpersonal skills. Walking out spitting blood from my mouth, I pondered why didn't she take two seconds to call and see if the medications I threw out off the top of my head were even correct? At worst she could have filled out my Amoxicillin prescription, right? While she may have been busy filling prescriptions, she is the on duty pharmacist and there was no one else in line. People are struggling for work and this person has a job? Oh joy, I asked my Dr. to send the scrips to the nearest CVS that was NOT this location but alas, Kim and I are destined to meet again. I will update this review if I misjudged after only a small sample size but I am not expecting to add anything positive. read more

I have to echo the other reviewers on something being seriously wrong with this CVS. There are always delays on all medications, and I often wait up to a week before they let me know they don't have it in stock. It has caused so much stress, and then when I go to call the pharmacy, I've been on hold for an hour and a half (which I'm sure is due to others having similar issues). Even the staff have confirmed there have been supply issues. I will say that the staff at this location are actually lovely and always friendly and as helpful as they can be given the support (or lack-thereof) they have from CVS at this location. read more

I am a physician and have to say that something is serious wrong at this CVS. They delayed filling my prescription by 48 hours --I thought --only to find that the text they sent me that my meds were ready was incorrect. I got to this location , was told to wait 10 minutes. After 30 minutes , they admitted they didn't have the medicine and had no idea when it would be ready. The head pharmacist was rude and his inexperienced staff need to be re-educated. An awful experience there start to finish. Avoid it at all costs. read more

This place is really nothing special. My family and I went to a playground nearby. We realized we forgot a towel for my son when he is finished playing in the water. I went into this place with the intention of looking for some sort of towel that would help dry him off and keep him warm (the weather was starting to turn and get windy). It appears they must be stocking this place during peak hours in the afternoon. I couldn't find anything like a towel. I'm not sure why I thought they would have one. It was a big maybe. I saw a bathrobe, high up on a shelf (I'm not that tall), and then spotted a blanket, also high up. I had do fo a few laps to find an end cap that had blankets I could reach. I think the only thing this place has going for it is the self-checkout. Hope I don't need to pop in here too often. read more

I have booked spots for various vaccines and have been told they are out when I get there. Wait times for prescriptions are nuts! Store shelves have been sparse for several months. Came in just for souvenirs. They have NYC magnets for $2.99 as well as key chains and post cards. Decent price for UWS area. My cousin and I went to other stores around the area (such as Rite Aid) and couldn't find any souvenirs. Yes, I know best bet would be in Chinatown but we had a flight to catch and were staying in the UWS. We got what we needed except NYC t-shirts. Friendly staff. Quick do it yourself check out (with assistance if needed). Clean and convenient store. read more

CVS Corporate PLEASE NOTE: This is the BEST cvs in the city. I've lived in every section of Manhattan and the representatives and associates at this cvs are friendly, extremely well informed, and put customers above all else with amazing teamwork. Please note tonight at 10:45pm that there was a drunk, aggressive, and extremely rude woman who demanded a receipt for a cash only self check out machine that was out of paper. I am well aware of this, it was noted clearly. She did not see it and blew up. The woman was screaming and berating your reps and they handled her flawlessly with smiles and kindness and understanding. Then she was so infuriated by their respect she demanded a full refund and credit.... for no reason other than the reps levels of respect for her upsetting her. They also provided this with understanding and kindness. The teamwork they exhibited was beyond compare, and this woman left upset and I want it to be known they DID do everything they could do flawlessly with the honestly undeserved levels of respect. Please know that I appreciate this team and every team at this cvs throughout each and every day for existing. I work crazy hours and they're always there with a smile and what I need, always. read more

She seems disgruntled and unhappy helping customers. I do not understand why people accept jobs working in customer service and then give customer sour-puss attitudes and looks. Nykia did not thank me for shopping at CVS when the transaction had completed. She could not have cared less. I said to Nykia, "Thanks and have a great day" and she gave me the evil eye look.I would suggest that the store manager talk with Nykia and the rest of the employees and once again go over what actual customer service should be. read more

If there was an option for 0 stars, I would choose it. I had a prescription for a medication following surgery sent there. They were unable to fill it. However, they have formally notified my insurance that they have dispensed which they have not because they do not have it in stock (which they did not tell me for over 24 hours!). Here's the worst part - I tried to get it sent to another pharmacy near to me and they cannot prescribe it because the central database says that this CVS on 77th street has dispensed it. I tried to call the CVS to change the status of the script in the computer but NO ONE PICKS UP THE PHONE. I cannot physically go to the pharmacy as I just had surgery. Thus, CVS is NOT providing me the medication AND their choice to notify the insurance company that they filled the script means that no other pharmacy will prescribe it. They STINK - talk about ZERO customer service. Now I have to go post operative evenings without my needed medicine. I would NEVER go in that store EVER again. read more

I haven't had the issues with the pharmacy at this location that other reviewers have experienced -- my trip to the pharmacy to get my flu shot this fall was easy and efficient -- but wow, the photo/production counter at this location leaves a lot to be desired. Ordered 15 photos online last week, and the order confirmation screen said they'd be ready at 6:35pm (2 hours after ordering). I didn't make it over to pick up the photos until 8pm, which was a good thing, because the receipt they had on file said the order was scheduled to be done after 7:44pm (totally wrong). The woman working at the counter was rude and looked like she had absolutely no interest in being there. Then, once I got home and reviewed the pictures, three were missing! It was about 15 degrees outside, and since I had over-ordered, I decided it wasn't worth my 50 cents to walk back over there and make a fuss, but come on. Won't be returning to this CVS for any photo-related needs. read more

Yes...another utterly miserable experience at this wretched store. No one can help, the managers are hung out to dry by their own superiors. Just trying to get my "no cost to me" OTC Covid test kits as is now mandated by the FDA and Medicare but no one has a clue how to do this. The pharmacy sends me to the front check out who send me to the pharmacy. Finally I decide to do it on line and avoid the human element entirely and am told that CVS does not accept my insurance (did I mention it is Medicare Parts A & B plus a Medicare supplemental plan along with a Medicare prescription drug plan?). I would never thought I would give a cvs four stars... But trust me I have my reasons...I never had such good service in a pharmacy before... Wowow talk about Good customer service .... They greet you hello and they greet you good buy... They help each and every customer when they see a confused face... to me that when I ask for help the person knows the answer if not he/she will go find out and be right back just to answer my questions... While talking to me he/she has eye contact... smiling... nice breath and NO B.O. or chewing gum.... I hate it when I'm checking out and the sale's clerk is on the phone or not having good social skills....this place is nice ...they don't take any customer for granted... W. Had the service help button pressed, and the person on duty just stared at me and walked away. Had to ask if he was working. Then when i asked him about the difference in price of something, he didn't believe me. So I told him I could go show him. He then angrily just told me to tell him the price & jammed his fingers into the screen to edit to said price. Honestly bc I could tell this was too much for him, I told him I didn't need to get the item if that would make things easier for him as the difference in price was pretty large, but he ignored that. This pharmacy was BAD before COVID. Staff were rude, frequently failed to perform and just plain didn't care. Then COVID hit. And nothing changed. Prescriptions are regularly messed up, not filled when supposed to be, staff are rude, and staff do not perform their duties with any semblance of care. Adding insult to injury, they imagine they are somehow now heroes and cannot be corrected or criticized for their myriad shortcomings and utter failure to provide even a modicum of customer service. This pharmacy staff needs a complete overhaul and retraining in the fundamentals of caring and service. It's really a shame this is almost the only CVS in the UWS. read more

Very rude and bad customer service! I asked one of staff members if she can check the stock on products for me, but the lady I inquired---I had a bad feeling as soon as I engaged with her, she looked *pissed* already---she was very rude and had no interested in helping me. She immediately responded "No we don't" and walked away. She didn't even know what I was looking for clearly because I didn't even specify the product yet. She was a Hispanic or Arabic woman with a long black hair wearing very red lipstick full of perfume smell. I could smell the aisle where she walked. It happened on Sunday, 1/28 around 1:30pm. She was so UNPROFESSIONAL with attitudes. I left the store, but on my way out, she was clearly aware she wasn't nice to me and she was looking at me on my way out, but just standing at the register doing nothing, but hanging out. She wasn't busy at all, but not interested in helping customers. I've thought of talking to a manager, I decided to write my experience here in Yelp to share instead. I was very saddened felt hurt by the treatment that left me wonder I don't deserve that. I headed for Duane Reade on 74th/Columbus. A lady I approached was super nice and walked me through where the product was....that's called professional and nice customer service. I just saw others' reviews and they are very similar to my experience. This store clearly need staff training, but I shouldn't care because I'm so not going back there to this CVS location. read more

Do not bring your prescriptions here! Today I have officially had enough. I had moved my prescriptions here back in September and asked for them to be put on automatic refill/ receive text alerts. Every month when I'd need my prescription refilled, I did not receive any texts nor was it automatically refilled. I have asked them to put my prescriptions on refill/text alerts every single time that I've come in to pick them up. Two months ago I go to pick them up and again am told that they are not ready because they were not refilled AND the prescription has been on back order for two weeks. The pharmacist says my only option is to pay out of pocket $108 for the brand name. I reluctantly paid and the pharmacist promises to put it on refill & sign me up for texts. Last month, yet again, no text or refill! Yet again, prescription is on back order and no one had notified me. This time the pharmacist suggests a generic "comparable" to my initial prescription. After being reassured by the pharmacist that the formula is exactly the same and I should not have any issues, I can confirm I have been suffering from side effects of this other generic prescription for the past month. Before I leave the pharmacist tells me to call before I am ready for my next refill. Taking their suggestion tonight I attempted to call the pharmacy. After being on hold for 20 minutes and not speaking to anyone in that time I have had enough! I am tired of telling the employees every month that I am still not on automatic refill/not receiving text alerts. Now that I have suffered side effects by switching to a "comparable" prescription as the pharmacist suggested, I have had enough! read more

I scheduled a flu shot online at this pharmacy for 6:45pm on a Monday evening. No indication that there would be a problem, and in fact there was a specific button with that time slot on it. Registration was confirmed, including by e-mail. When I get to the store, they inform me that the flu shot person leaves at 6pm. read more

Went to this location once because i was around 79th and didnt want to trek down to 57th but boy oh boy was that a mistake. First, it was raining so bad that day they had leaks from ceiling -- one aisle literally closed because it was slippery. Second, their inventory was poor. It was special 99cents facial tissue but the shelf was empty and they didnt restock it. What a shame really. Third, staff was so impatient she kept on yelling 'next' to the customers to used machines as if we were sheep. Oh well, i guess im going to stick to 57th one. read more

This CVS is close to my apartment so has been my go-to store more out of convenience than preference. Usually, at least half of the self-checkout machines are either broken, not accepting cash, or giving customers problems. This can create quite a long line. I've tried to print photos there before and the machine didn't work. None of the employees seemed to care at all. The vast majority of employees are so rude that it's awkward. I've been flat out ignored by them and they will complain loudly about things when you're right in front of them. They also are pretty rambunctious with each other sometimes for being on the job. Furthermore, they have the strangest stock patterns, and will receive things regularly and then they just disappear from the stock indefinitely, or they seem to stock like 5 at a time. I don't expect a huge amount from CVS, but this CVS fails to meet even the lowest expectations. Also, the hours on yelp are incorrect. It says it closes at 6 pm as I'm posting this (on Sunday) and this store is 24 hours. read more

Friendly and helpful staff. Cashier wished me happy birthday and two people thanked me for coming in on my way out. Selection is good.
