I was trying to use several coupons and the clerk didn't know how to apply them to my purchase - so she asked another clerk, but he also didn't know how to do that (I'm assuming they're new employees). Whoever heard of an entire pharmacy that closes down for a half hour from 1:30 to 2 P.M for a lunch break? Well, this is what happens at CVS - this location, anyway. Moreover, when I went there recently to pick up a presciption, the pharmacy had just opened, there literally had to be about fifteen people waiting in line to get their prescriptions filled and only a single clerk processing their orders. The store itself is roomy and organized, but someone in management seriously ought to rethink their pharmacy's hours of operation. I would think that early afternoon would be their busiest time, when most customers would have the opportunity to drop by and get their medications. Obviously, they should hire more clerks or druggists, or both, to keep their pharmacy open. read more

STAY AWAY! TERRIBLE PHARMACY. PLEASE DO NOT USE. I have been calling both them and the Duane reade in the East 39th st several times over several days because my insurance ends today. It is the holiday season but I called before the holidays with no luck. I've explained to them that I will not have access to insurance for a while and I needed a 3-month supply of two of my daily medications and I have basically been playing phone tag to facilitate the transfer. Because it was the holidays, I was not able to visit the store physically. Please do not use either pharmacy unless you want to have a headache and inconvenience if transferring your important prescription. Staff is rude, incompetent, inconsiderate, lack empathy, and just straight up suck. I will never NEVER use this pharmacy again. Usually in don't have a problem with this cvs but it's disappointing when they hire incompetent people. Atris is one of them. My asthma is awful today and I went in to pick up my nebulizer. I asked her about it and she stated the machine was in the bag. Once I got home I notice it wasn't in the back. Had to waste more time and confront her, which she avoided me first until I called her out. When someone is suffering from a breathing issue, you don't sit there and lie. It's so frustrating when people can't do their job properly. And best believe corporate is getting involved because what this lady did is unacceptable. Side note: noticed there was a sign that stated verbal abuse Won't be tolerated and the person will be escorted out of the store. But employees like Atris make it difficult because she clearly made a stupid mistake and it makes you wonder how did she even get hired. Nearly every item in this store is locked in a plexiglass case, necessitating the painfully slow process of tracking down an employee to unlock the case for EACH. AND. EVERY. ITEM. that customers are attempting to purchase. Given CVS's astonishingly regressive and frustrating shopping experience, I have shifted to purchasing all of the items I previously bought at CVS via Amazon. This CVS claims to be open 24 hours, yet it frequently closes in the evening without explanation. In fact, the store even lowers a metal door right next to the sign stating that it is open 24 hours a day, every day of the week. This store has it all...vitamins, soda, pain killers, contact lens solution and a house band featuring the former lead singer of Color Me Badd. Pharmacy sucks. I've used this location 2-3 times and have glossed over the crappy customer service but this time was the last time..... They had both items ready for me and when I got home one of the the Rx's had to be taken a very specific way (prednisone) The bottle said refer to instructions and there were NO INSTRUCTIONS. I had to Google how to and when to take these pills. These morons gave me the pills loose in a bottle with no instruction when they are supposed to come in a foil pack with specific times for when to take each pill. I take the pills on day 1 successfully. Day 2 I accidentally took 2 pills instead of 1. I called the pharmacy and was on hold for 25 mins before anyone picked up. I explained my situation thoroughly and asked how I should proceed taking the rest of the pills. I get a generic response of how many pills I'm supposed to take that day. But that wasnt my question lady. PAY ATTENTION!! You're wasting my time and your own. She says hold on and now some rando guy gets on. Doesnt announce himself so I have no idea who the hell I'm talking to and I'm not about the repeat my story to someone who's not paying attention and doesnt know the answer. So I ask, are you a pharmacist. He says yes, so I explain and he gives me the same generic response of how many pills to take that day. So I say to him according to the manufacturer Im supposed to take the meds before or after certains meals (give or take) and per this pharmacist I just need to spread them out over the day. Great! Thanks for being so helpful Mr Pharmacist. If the manufacturer wanted me to be so casual about how and when I take these pills I doubt they'd put them in foil packets with instructions. But what do I know. All I do know is this place has an unacceptable level of care when it comes to putting crap in my body that I'm already leery of. Time to find a new pharmacy in the nabe. read more

Went to pick up my prescription and a full counter of seven employees was available but unwilling to help because it was 4 minutes into their lunch break. One very nice employee wanted to help but her supervisor closed the window on us while I was mid conversation with her. I explained this was my last chance to pick up my medication because the pharmacy notified me they would send my prescription back but the supervisor only cared about lunch hour. I'm not sure if there has been a change in management or totally new staff but the service has gone into the gutter the last few months. Everytime I come here the wait is 30mins plus because they can't get anything done in a timely manner. Even when the prescription is sent the day before my meds still aren't ready. Holy smokes is this CVS huge! Probably one of the biggest, brightest, and most organized CVS drugstores I have seen in the city. It's in a terrific location close to my doctor's office and was super convenient for when I had to get a prescription filled for a Z-Pack a few days ago. The pharmacy in this place is on the money, and is leaps and bounds ahead of the disaster of a CVS pharmacy up on 91st and 3rd in my neighborhood. Had no problem using my health insurance card as a new customer and my medicine was ready in about ten minutes. Professional, fast, and friendly staff here too. As I was waiting I had a chance to walk around this very clean and spacious drugstore. Seems like many sales were going on, big card section, grocery area, refrigerated drinks, toiletries, paper goods, and more all on one large floor. Already has a lot of stuff out for Valentine's Day - as if we need to be reminded! Open 24 hours too. Wish this one was up in my hood! read more

This CVS has been a god send. I recently transferred one of my prescriptions over to this location from a location on LI and they had some difficulty getting my insurance to approve it. Apparently insurance companies are allowed to decide how often you need a prescription, even when you're sick? Anyway, they worked with me on getting a lower cost since it would be out of pocket prior to the 25th and I am not eligible for an override. They knocked the cost down by A LOT and even called me to follow-up. They're also 24 hours, which is a nice touch. Thanks, CVS! read more

I had no idea what he was talking about, & clearly he was mistaken. He said he was "100% sure" he knows who I am & what I did there(???) Welcome to the neighborhood CVS! I'm pretty happy to get a new drugstore in the area. The local Rite Aid has unbearably long lines and gets heaps of the weirdest old people who move at 1/4 of a mph behind their carts. Duane Reade is OK, but they really don't have any good specials on things you need everyday. I've been at this CVS branch a few times already and I am happy to report that this is a great place for cheap drugstore type stuff (like toilet paper, dish soap, etc.) and grocery items too. Yep, I got some food at CVS! They had some seriously good specials on cereal, milk, nutrition bars and more. The staff was your typical New York City drugstore crew, but they did try to make me feel welcome and even offered to "show me around". That was weird! read more

How many pharmacists does it take to fill a simple prescription? Three. The answer is three. Or four, if you count the person I spoke to over the phone. I called a week ago and asked to refill my birth control. I asked for a six month supply and said I had a coupon. I was told it would take a few days because they needed to order it. Okay. No problem. After a few calls from CVS saying my prescription was ready, I went in to pick it up. I get ready to pay and I see the bag looks small, so I ask if it's a six month supply, and the pharmacist says no, it's for one month. I explain that I asked for six months and she says she'll fill it right now. I sit and wait, then get called up to the counter. Different pharmacist this time, and again I ask if it's for six months. She tells me no. It's for three months. I tell her I am waiting for a six month supply. This time I'm standing at the counter waiting for them to get it together. There's a third pharmacist in the back packing the prescriptions and she's talking about mine. So now we are up to three lady pharmacists dealing with my prescription. The second lady comes to the desk with two bags now - two three month prescriptions. I hand over my coupon and she's like you should have given this to me before because now I have to ring it up again - as if I'm supposed to know this. She tries to ring up the coupon and tells me it's not working. She says she found another coupon for a 3 month supply she could use. I tell her my coupon is for SIX MONTHS. The same six months of BC I've been asking for since I walked into the store. Again I am told to sit and wait while they put the two three month packs into one bag so they can ring it up as one prescription, instead of two, and use my coupon. All of this takes 40 minutes. 40 minutes to pick up a simple prescription that I was told was ready before I entered the store. 40 minutes and three pharmacists to figure out how to put 6 months of birth control in one bag. It's a comedy really. How many years do you have to go to school to be a pharmacist? How many degrees? Certainly more than I have. And the kicker is the lady who ended up ringing me up was the first lady I spoke with, and there was no thank you or have a nice day. Just rude silence as if I'm the one who did something wrong. read more

Terrible CVS - the worst in the city. No employee knows how to help me with the self check out. Jazmine was on her phone TEXTING when the line was out the door! She should have been ringing up customers! She should be fired right away. The line for a cashier and a self check out were both so long, I actually saw someone leave without paying. What a joke, maybe Jasmine should have been paying attention to helping customers instead of playing on her phone. Worst part - the manager was there and did nothing. Probably the worst CVS I have ever been to especially the pharmacy. The pharmacy assistant couldn't even type my medication correctly in the system and then proceeded to act like everything was ok. About an hour later (and a lot of disgruntled customers), I asked what was taking so long and then I was told that she typed it in wrong. The cashier was exceedingly rude when I asked her why no one informed me of the error. They handed me back my prescription and I left empty handed. I also think the overall layout of this CVS is pretty poor as well. There's very little space to move around and it is pretty confusing. read more

I came to you with a prescription that my insurance didn't cover and you immediately recognized that I was a provider and allowed me to change my prescription on the spot. What could have been a bureaucratic nightmare was instead a quick and efficient business transaction that was not at all painful. Working at a hospital day in and day out, I know that it's all too easy for people to do the bare minimum and become inflexible mechanical slaves. My pharmacy is CVS, but usually I go to the one on East 23rd st & lst avenue. This is the first time I have ever used CVS East 34th street pharmacy. Rarely do I find a drugstore worthy of a review, but I have to give some love to the awesome ladies working the pharmacy counter. I've been in there twice to pick up my Guardasil shot that I was taking over to the doctor to have injected (woo!). And both times, the ladies that waited on me were so incredibly friendly, helpful, actually NICE! I was sort of blown away... It was crazy convenient from where I used to work, and definitely is a returnable drug store if I'm in the area. read more

I looked at some the these reviews of this pharmacy and I was afraid to call in for service. I am so glad I did contact them. I called ahead and explained that I was traveling and I forgot one of my prescriptions. The pharmacist was swamped and yet she found time to fill my medications or at least enough to get me through the rest of the week. I did some some shopping at the store too for necessities. Everyone I encountered was polite, helpful and for a minute I thought I was back in Texas. NYC is a great place to visit and eVeryone there at CVS exemplified the excellence I have always expected and received from their employees. read more

I like that this CVS is large and has a simple layout. Also, 'cause it matters, the shelves are on the lower side, so you can see over them into other aisles. However, even though I could find my items quickly, I was scared by the long line of people who were checking out with just one cashier. Bummer. read more

This pharmacy is horrible. Four hours after a prescription is called in and it's still not ready. Then you're stuck waiting. They'll also call you multiple times saying your prescription is ready and then when you get there they don't have it. There also always seems to be a long line. read more
