I like the Alto app. It makes it easy to work with them. Usually, they can deliver the same day or next day. They are very responsive on customer service. On some of my deliveries, they have not been able to deliver immediately. Recently, they sent me a message that they had to finalize insurance payments first. It was for a fairly common drug, and I have very common insurance. It ended up taking two days. I needed the medicine then. Most of the time, the deliveries are seamless. A delivery person leaves the meds with my doorman. I discovered that for some prescriptions, but not for others, I have to meet the deliveryman in person with a photo ID. Recently, the deliveryman came to my building, texted me, which I didn't even see, and didn't even ask the doorman to ring up to my apartment. I called the delivery man later, since I had his number from the text and asked him why he only texted me and didn't have the doorman call up. He said, "It's not my job." read more

I placed an emergency medication pick up order at Alto for same day delivery. The order was mishandled by the team and was filled but not delivered causing me to miss a dose of emergency medication. I recommend not using this company if you have urgent medication needs as they are not reliable and offered minimal compensation as a byproduct of this negligent oversight. read more

Alto Pharmacy has been a hit or miss for me, leading to an overall inconsistent, unreliable, and sometimes stressful experience. Toward the end, things improved--but only after I figured out how to work around their issues. One major frustration was the fluctuating prices of my fertility specialty medications in the app. (I had competitive pricing with my medications thru price matching.) I suspect this is due to software issues, but it meant I constantly had to call to correct the pricing. Communication was another challenge. The phone support team and the chat support team in the app often seemed disconnected. While they recommend using the app or website for faster responses, they also state that replies can take 2-4 hours. In my experience, calling was often quicker, though I still spent anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour on hold. That said, one positive experience stood out--I needed to order a medication for pickup, but the app wouldn't allow it since the pharmacy wasn't open yet. Calling wasn't an option either since the pharmacy wasn't open. However, when I reached out via chat, they pushed the order through and ensured it was ready as soon as the pharmacy opened. I noticed their response times tend to be much better in the mornings via chat. On top of that, they did have an injection room and I was able to inject myself to be on time with my medications. Overall, while Alto has potential, the inconsistency in pricing, communication, and customer service made it a frustrating experience at times. As I said, it was better at the end when I learned how to work around their problems. Their actual storefront itself is very nice and cozy. You can see into their warehouse which I thought was quite different from a regular pharmacy set up. I do think if you have a very simple prescription to get, then Alto Pharmacy can be very helpful and easy to use. I would use Alto again for a much *simpler* prescription. read more

My local CVS pharmacy was unable to fill my order so my doctor sent my prescription to Alto Pharmacy. I didn't know this existed! Kindof like the pharmacy version of Gorillas/Getir (RIP) . You can get the prescription delivered to you or you can pick it up. I chose to go pick up my prescription- when I got there, the place was packed with delivery guys (literally just like a restaurant.) Pick up was smooth. Also recommend getting the app. read more

They kept tampering with the amount of refills on my prescriptions, as well as turning 30 day prescriptions into 90 so ill have to wait to refill. They keep trying to charge me for covered medications. They made up lies and claimed that New York policy is you can only have one refill on a prescription. My other Pharmacy went ahead and sent it to them multiple times and they still somehow don't have any refills. I contacted my doctor to send over the refills l, she did so and somehow they're still unable to process that I have refills. The outcome is they were reported for professional misconduct and I'm waiting for my prescriptions to be transferred to a different Pharmacy. I don't have High Hopes about my prescriptions being transferred. There's probably some law in New York that only applies to alto Pharmacy where they don't have to do any aspect of their job. read more

They were supposed to deliver paxlovid, then after 1 hour on hold I was told they did not have the medication. I requested that they transfer it to walgreens diamond hts. They never sent the prescription. They wanted to charge me $1,400 for the medication(I knew something was wrong) I called the next day and after 2 hours on the phone was told they do have the medication and would only charge $20 to deliver it today. They did not deliver the medication. I called my doctor for a new prescription. Had a televisit with my doctor and she prescribed me meds through Alto Pharmacy. At first I was thinking just send it to my local pharmacy but then I was told they deliver same day (if not overnight). So done and done - saved me much time and effort. When you're not feeling well or looking your best - who wants to go through the trouble to get dressed to go anywhere?! My doctor provided me with the customer service # in case but Alto texted me a link on my cell minutes after my appointment. I didn't have to make first contact! They sent me a text - to inform me that a prescription was written for me by my doctor. I clicked on it, chose to download the app (you can stay on the web version if you prefer), created my account and approved the script. Voila! The meds were delivered to my door hours later. I should mention, it even found my health insurance card info for me. I didn't have to load an image of my card nor type in the info. This was so convenient. I also liked that when I put my prescription in the cart, it asked if I needed anything else. Suggested a list of items like allergy meds, vitamins, other OTC stuff. I found that helpful indeed. I didn't order anything else this first time using Alto - but the prices I noticed were fair and comparable to my local CVS. I was looking at the different allergy meds just to compare. I'm a first time user and plan on using them again. I noticed in the features, they have a "transfer pharmacy" option where I can move my prescriptions to them. That's my next move. read more

Tech meets pharmacy. I downloaded the ap n It took me a bit to realize I need to use it like a shopping ap, add med to cart n ck to set delivery. After that, the ap let's you know delivery time window. Specially when you are sick n can't leave the house. Or have a sick child, n can't leave her home alone. The only thing, what is this w caramel candy? i was reading the reviews, I didnt get the caramel candy they mentioned on other reviews . That would have been a nice touch. I wanted to add that since I wrote the review below I found out that my delivery was missing 3 items. I saw another recent review mentioned that items were missing from the package I would double check if you got all items when you receive the delivery. --------------------------------------- I had poor experience with Alto pharmacy and here's why. (Please also see my conversation with them attached) 1. When they reach out for delivery date specifically asked my meds to be delivered 4 weeks later time since some of them needs to be refrigerated and I won't be starting treatment til later date. They went ahead with delivering the meds that day without my consent. I asked the rep and they said they did not see my message which I don't believe because last message they sent me was a question for anticipated treatment start date. (also I responded immediately.) 2. Delivery notification & instructions for me was sent 10 mins before drivers arrival time. The med package I was receiving was worth couple thousand dollars & need to be refrigerated. if I didn't happen to be at home I could lost couple thousand dollar worth meds. Also on the delivery instruction they provided, it specifically said I should be wearing a mask (which I did) and so will the delivery person be. Delivery person was not wearing a mask when he had a direct contact with me which made me uncomfortable because I had a surgery a week ago and currently have low immune system. 3. Even after discussing above issues with customer service I don't think they properly apologized. For above reason I do not recommend Alto pharmacy. Part 3 - So I thought maybe I was being a little overzealous in my being upset with these incompetents, so I'm trying to get medication it's not going to be available till April 16, You'll be dead by the time you get your medicine with these incompetents ! Part 2 - No one ever called me back nobody messaged me back and I have canceled my account with this company - already found a replacement. I got everything done in one day, not two weeks and holding. I am really disappointed at all that time I had to waste with this venture Wow - its just too damn difficult to use these peeps - Takes weeks to get set up, all they do is blame the. Transferring pharmacy, but oddly they were the ones that couldn't get Alto to respond. The tipping point - after being later than the latest delivery time, the driver calls you to go to his car cause he's double parked. So its not really delivery its still self serve and poorly executed at that ! It's actually easier to deal with people at a physical pharmacy. My doctor recommended Alto Pharmacy for a new medication that has just been approved and not available yet in most pharmacies. I was blown away by Alto's service. Everything was done online, Alto found coupons that dramatically reduced the cost of the medication and then they hand delivered it to my apartment at the time (within a two hour window) I requested. My doctor sent a new prescription there and the process was easy. However that's where the convenience ended. I spent the last five days trying to get them to transfer one prescription from my cvs and they did not respond to messages nor did I think they ever called the cvs on the phone - couldn't get a straight answer on this. (They claimed the pharmacy "didn't respond to their requests" maybe they were faxing them from 1990?) Ridiculous. When Alto first came out they were the best in the business by far. I recommended them to everyone. They got all the meds in time every time that included an ice piece of candy. Then the candy started being eaten by the drivers most recently I've been charged for meds that I have not yet received these are meds that literally keep me alive. Hour plus long hold times, meds charged for but not delivered you name it they screwed it up. And when you call to complain about paying for something not received you get a snotty customer service person who says a manager will call you back with 24 hours. I take this med daily. They cancel and reschedule medications on the day of refill for medications which are on auto refill because they are "out of stock". WHY WOULDNT YOU ORDER THE MEDICATION BEFORE THE EXPECTED REFILL DATE IF YOU KNOW THAT ITS COMING UP?!?? And...worse is that YOU CANNOT GET A HOLD OF ANYONE THERE. My Dr said they are the ONLY pharmacy in the entire city who carried the new Phizer Anti Viral Pills. People are not kidding about terrible customer service. I have never experienced a company that is so incompetent with dealing with insurance. I've been using Alto for maybe a year and I have to message customer service before every delivery because they consistently run my insurance incorrectly, delete my insurance information, and add random insurance plans that I have never been on and try to run them instead of my actual insurance. It's impossible to get ahold of anyone in customer service, and when you do, they have no idea what's going on. I'm super lazy about standing on pharmacy lines, but I think I'm going to have to start doing it because I just can't deal with this nonsense anymore. read more

This is my first time using Alto and I was so impressed with their service. First: The app is so easy to use, you can see the prices for each medication, how much your insurance will cover, and clearly See the approval status for each. So you never feel like you're going to end up with unexpected charges. Second: the customer service was really outstanding. a Pharmacist will assist you along the way and work with you so you get the care you need in time. (some of my meds were time sensitive and my pharmacist was so on top of it!) Third: the delivery process was so smooth! I was worried that some meds needed to be refrigerate and I may not be home on time. I was given a clear delivery window, and was able to track the package all along, even got a text when my courier was 12 and 3 minutes away. I honestly have no idea how this pharmacy is still in business. Considering they're a delivery pharmacy, I've had to come pick my prescription up nearly every time and have waited on the phone for a total of 6 hours in the last week in attempt to figure this out. This is now the 5th time that I've gotten there after being told on the phone, as well as in the app, that my meds are ready and then have gotten there to be told they're not. And have come over 30 minutes each way. So beyond unprofessional. They cancelled my prescription without contacting me and then told me that the doctor's office said not to fill it. When I was like "WHAT?" They said that they didn't have any in stock. Basically, they lie to cover up incompetence. They also allow me to schedule a delivery and then notify late in the day that the medicine isn't in stock. And once they rescheduled my delivery FOUR TIMES - until the prescription had expired. Because of them, I've had to go unmedicated... it's impacted my health and job.
