A view from Congress Street of the exterior. Ooooh!!!!!

A so-so outlet of the CVS chain; the interior isn't particularly neat, the service is only so-so fast, but the employees are reasonably friendly. Was last in here to purchase toiletries when staying at a hotel, as well as to pick up some snack food. Snack food, they have in plenty. Travel-size toiletries, not so much. Particularly puzzling was the shortages of store-brand allergy medicine. Perhaps there was a run due to cedar fever season? Worth a visit if you're out late, inhaling substances that you really shouldn't be putting into your body, and suddenly find yourself in the grips of the munchies.

Beware this person is a thief.

WARNING: possible price gauging This store seems like any other CVS till you actually look at the prices. I picked a gallon jug of water. Brought to self checkout. It was priced at $9.99. A gallon at $9.99? I thought it must be a mistake. Asked the cash register attendant to fix because it's a mistake. He called the manager to fix. Manager said he can't fix the price because it's not a mistake. Price is higher because of supply and demand. Then I realized that after the February 2021 winter snowpocalypse (the following weekend) they had raised the price. Keep in mind Governor Abbot issued a warning to all the vendors to avoid price gauging.

I had vowed never to set foot in here again, but given I underestimated how much cat food I had and it's Christmas day (grocery stores are close apparently) I had return here. I am upping the 1 star to 2 for being open today, but I will again never set foot in here. A) The clientele. Did the gang-bang just let out? I mean Jesus Christ (Happy Birthday!!) was it scary in there. B) The staff. My god the staff. If you read my prior review of the place I'd say the same shiftless bunch are still around. This one person let everyone (particularly the unfortunate girl working with her) know what "C" in "CVS" stands for. I will say that girl that checked me out was nice, but not enough to make me forget that which cannot be forgotten ... THE PLACE SUCKS.

Bathrooms were gross and the prices were insane. $4 for Silk (soy milk) vs ~$2.60 at HEB as an example. Yikes!

Apparently, not realizing this page already existed. Anyway, covering all my bases and doing a review here as well. Note: I've also suggested an edit for the duplicate businesses. Ok now that is out of the way. Review time: I really love this location so much. The store is huge with wide aisles making it easy to navigate compared to the smaller stores. Even if it's crazy busy on a Sunday afternoon you can still get to the items you need with ease. The store is still very clean and of course modern since the rebuild. Employees are friendly. The shelves are stocked fully 99.999% of the time. I live extremely close to the East 7th Street store (5 min away) and opt for this location time and time again.

I love that they have a parking garage so if it's pouring down with rain, one doesn't get drenched trying to get one's vehicle with a basket load of groceries. On the ground floor, there is True Texas BBQ with ample seating. One can take the elevator or escalater up to the second floor to the supermarket. On the escalater, there is one side for you and the other side for your trolly of groceries. I have abandoned my neighborhood HEB and now patronize this one at 2400 S. Congress Ave.

I travel different states; many CVSs that advertise 24/7 also have pharmacies open 24/7. but this GM proceeded to READ ME THE RIOT ACT implying, how stupid could i be to think that, scolding me about the laws of Texas not allowing pharmacist to work 24 hours, blah blah blah. How ignorant is this guy?! that's why they have "shift" work and that's why they have two or possibly three pharmacists on duty at 24/7 advertised CVS stores. As I'm leaving, he has the audacity to insult me again, demanding "you can read Pharmacy hours on door". Is this guy so ignorant that he presumes people coming to his store are neighborhood people easily driving by. who does this guy think he is? His family didn't teach him manner that's for sure. he should be fired. Then, later when I Thru went through RX drive-through,, the pharmacist or assistant was also very rude. Intentionally unfriendly and rude intentionally!! would not say a greeting , "good morning, welcome, etc. I asked a question. She pretended to ignore me. I asked again. She turned to me at the window as if angry and bothered that she was having to dignify a response to a question I had asked her.... She could barely choke it out. And then when we were done with our transaction, she did intentionally did not say thank you you could see her character. You could see what a vindictive nasty person she was.!!! ! I guess the GM had gotten to her - to poison the well for your customers is one of the most unprofessional things any mgr or oharmacist can do. I rarely write these things, but when I do, it's because they screwed up and they should not be working there. This area of town has a lot of problems, but that doesn't mean they cannot keep their standard of service at a reasonable professional level and these people did not, and there are too many people out there that need jobs so they need to be invited to work out or get some professional manners, and higher standards, Service.

I only came to the 5th Street Target because it was the only place that had what I needed,a simple pen for black label for homemade gifts. I came against my better judgment, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. First off, the parking is a mess. You have to park in the garage and get validation to avoid paying $7. There's no handicap parking right in front of the elevator entrance either, which makes things way harder than it should be. I could have used street parking but didn't feel like being hassled by the men that wait in front of the store. Once I got inside, I started noticing a man, Hispanic, curly hair, maroon shirt, no name badge walking past me multiple times in different sections. First in the makeup aisle, then again when I moved to another area, and again a third time. It really felt like he was watching me, not shopping. He made me super uncomfortable. I was using the Target app to scan items and make sure I was getting the right prices. Just trying to get in and out quickly because, truth be told, I've been avoiding Target for a while now. When I checked out, one of my items rang up higher than what the app said. I went to Guest Services, showed the price on my phone, and was told I must've grabbed the wrong thing. I hadn't, I scanned it myself before adding it to my cart. All this over a few markers. I'm sticking with my boycott. I came here trying to support my own project and left feeling watched, dismissed, and frustrated.
