A view from Congress Street of the exterior. Ooooh!!!!!

A so-so outlet of the CVS chain; the interior isn't particularly neat, the service is only so-so fast, but the employees are reasonably friendly. Was last in here to purchase toiletries when staying at a hotel, as well as to pick up some snack food. Snack food, they have in plenty. Travel-size toiletries, not so much. Particularly puzzling was the shortages of store-brand allergy medicine. Perhaps there was a run due to cedar fever season? Worth a visit if you're out late, inhaling substances that you really shouldn't be putting into your body, and suddenly find yourself in the grips of the munchies.

Beware this person is a thief.

WARNING: possible price gauging This store seems like any other CVS till you actually look at the prices. I picked a gallon jug of water. Brought to self checkout. It was priced at $9.99. A gallon at $9.99? I thought it must be a mistake. Asked the cash register attendant to fix because it's a mistake. He called the manager to fix. Manager said he can't fix the price because it's not a mistake. Price is higher because of supply and demand. Then I realized that after the February 2021 winter snowpocalypse (the following weekend) they had raised the price. Keep in mind Governor Abbot issued a warning to all the vendors to avoid price gauging.

I had vowed never to set foot in here again, but given I underestimated how much cat food I had and it's Christmas day (grocery stores are close apparently) I had return here. I am upping the 1 star to 2 for being open today, but I will again never set foot in here. A) The clientele. Did the gang-bang just let out? I mean Jesus Christ (Happy Birthday!!) was it scary in there. B) The staff. My god the staff. If you read my prior review of the place I'd say the same shiftless bunch are still around. This one person let everyone (particularly the unfortunate girl working with her) know what "C" in "CVS" stands for. I will say that girl that checked me out was nice, but not enough to make me forget that which cannot be forgotten ... THE PLACE SUCKS.

It is what it is. A convenience store. I work within…read morewalking distance of here & it's available when I need them most. Plenty of Red Bull & other energy drinks in stock whenever I've got the 2 o'clock sleepies & lots of generic snacks whenever I have the mid-morning munchies. Their staff, like most convenience stores, rotate & tends to have a high turnover. The ones who have been here awhile are nice & willing to help. Some of the "less permanent" crew have been rude & not so willing to help but then again, they typically don't last that long for what I assume are obvious reasons. Their management tends to be friendly, attentive, and are always hard at work maintaining the store throughout the various times I've stopped by. Gas prices are average for a Shell station & their "convenience store food" that's on the heat lamps look questionable at times. They do, however, have a made-to-order menu with a speed oven (similar to what you see at Subway & Starbucks) if you want something that hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp. I personally haven't ordered anything like that yet but would if I was really hungry. You might wonder why I would write a review of a Circle K? Considering it's proximity from where I work, I consider myself a regular here & the more permanent staff who's been here throughout the years might not realize it but I feel like I've come to know them as if they were my own work colleagues. In the end, we're all trying to make a living & this store more than represents that.

Ironically job recruiters are outside, must need more people to clean the bathroom. In Austin if you don't go to a corporate owned gas station like Buc-ee's or Quiktrip it will be garbage. If you live in the square enclosed by William Cannon, Stassney, South 1st, and Congress - this should be your neighborhood quick-mart. One day, I went to pick up a 6-pack of Negra Modelo for a small gathering at my house. In line in front of me were two men, each carrying their respective beer of choice: one had an Olde English 40 oz, the other had a 6-pack of Bud Lite. All I'll say is that I am Mexican, and the three of us were quite the portrait of ethnic stereotypes. I'll leave it at that. Another night, I'd gone with my boyfriend to pick up some wine for another gathering at our house. On our way to the cash register, this man stormed up to the owner with a stack of photocopies, demanding his money back. The owner explained that he must pay for all his copies. The angry customer argued that he would not pay for defective copies and ranted that the copying machine should be fixed. When the owner would not give him a full refund, but only a refund for the defective copies, the man grabbed the receiver off the phone hanging by the front door and threw it so hard, a little piece of plastic hit my head. Then they went back and forth several rounds with very ridiculous expletives involving each other's mothers and sisters. I'll deduct one star for violence.
