Great local store. They let you meander and are helpful when I asked questions. Fabric selection had a large variety.

I'm pretty new to fabric arts but excited about all the future projects! SAS had SO much stuff. All kinds of fabrics from fake fur to satiny-y types. And all the bits to fancy things up, sparkly trim and buttons and things like that.n The staff were friendly to me and helpful and I heard them interacting with others in a friendly way. I look forward to getting supplies here as I learn how to make things! Parking was easy as well.

Not only…read morewere they not helpful, but when it came time for me to check out I was told to go to another line, cool but I've never been here before and yall let me wonder for 10 minutes without offering help, so I go to the next line and the first thing this girl tells me is that next time I'm in here only water is allowed. I asked her if this was posted anywhere and she said it was. No where was this posted. Not on the door, not next to the cashier no where. I'm a rule follower, the more rules the better in my opinion. Not only does she bark this order at me, but after I tell her I don't see a sign saying no drinks (I had a sealed bottle of Gatorade on a 84 degree day) she says it's there......spend your money elsewhere. I happily went to Michael's and spend over $80 on fabric, just because they treated me like a human and didn't bark orders at me. I'm sorry you hate your job girlie, but it is not my fault. -10 stars DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU SIMPLY WANT FABRIC FOR A CHEAPER PRICE. There are other places with cheaper prices, but if you don't mind spending the extra dollar. Russ at Michael's at Tempe market place was so available and willing to help me, plus he served as a Marine and National Guardsmen for +21 years. Take your money to a place that will treat you well. Not here. So I tried calling the store to ask if I could speak to a manager, a girl named Becky got on the phone, started telling me not to curse at her (I wasn't cursing) then hung up on me. When I tried to call back i was hung up on again. Then the next time I was met with the same hostility. I tried to call another location to get the owners info, and was told that Becky is in fact in charge of all the locations and is the head of Sas. I pray God blesses you and your business Becky in the same way you bless others. Best believe I will tell everyone I know not to shop here.

Since then, Mulqueen has moved to their present location but no longer sells vacuum cleaners. However they do offer parts from a demo vacuum Miele model, which they are willing to sell. I stopped by and a kind staff lady brought me the part but unfortunately neither of us could easily slide the telescope wand handle. She was honest and said it wasn't worth purchasing. I wouldn't have bought it either and appreciate her transparency. While I was there, I browsed through the sections of the store. I discovered embroidery machines, quilting patterns, supplies and a room full of fabrics for sale. I'm sure this will be a source for goods for patrons of Joanne's Fabric and Craft stores. It is sad that Joanne's is closing 800 locations after filing bankruptcy this past January. If I sewed or did any of the above I would be excited to visit here-but I'm not the sewing type. i even find sewing a missing button on clothing a chore! I am happy for those who still have places like this to shop at.

I had not great experiences at the Phoenix sewing multi-brand store (not Mulqueen or Bernina). I had said I wanted to stay under $1k and had received the most appalled reaction and customer service. Contrast to Mulqueen. Walk in, all the machines are on & ready to play with. I had called to check availability of a few models and chose this location over tempe based on machines on the floor. I brought scraps with me & set to testing but was quickly confused by some of the buttons. A woman appeared right about that time, sat down next to me and walked me through it. Keep in mind this was a $500 machine not $3k or something. She even suggested a less expensive version next to it often used in their classes (Janome) ultimately decided this was too basic & I missed computerized so she walked me to the Juki I requested next & I quickly set to work testing it. This particular model (hzl f600) was over m y budget but I knew the basic functionality was similar to the ones I was considering. Absolutely loved it! Denim, slippery rayon, no issues. She said you know we might have this used. She walked me to the oasis of used/refurb machines. They had every machine I was considering-available used/refurb and under $1k!! I ultimately got the f600 used -could not be happier-and saved enough to buy way more fabric than I need. My only complaint is we need a location in Phoenix or Scottsdale!!!! The gentleman in the refurb area was also super helpful answering questions the woman couldn't (she had long gray hair but didn't catch a name). Well worth the 35 minute drive & seriously only place I will go for machines.

So I drove over an hour to get to the store to take it in and Ronnie the repair tech told me it would cost 179$ for a tech to look at the machine plus any additional cost of parts. We signed up for the Blankets & Besties workshop, where you make a chunky blanket. You get to choose your color from a list and note it when you register on their website. It was $85 before tax and came with 5 skeins of yarn, with the option to add more (I think for an additional $15). I also put in the notes on my registration the names of my friends so that we could sit together. The workshop was at 6pm on a Friday and lasted about two hours. There was my group of three and three others, plus the owner/instructor Lauren. Her instructions were easy to follow, and she would jump in if we needed help. I made a few errors, and she was able to fix them for me. I ended up making my loops too loose on the outside and too tight on the inside, so my blanket came out a bit small. But I think it was decent for my first attempt. It's so soft. I keep it on my couch to use as a lap blanket. We all had a great time and would definitely come back to try other workshops. My coworker had tried one of the resin workshops and really liked it too.
