As the owner of a franchise representing a Japanese brand--where hospitality, courtesy, and respect for others are deeply valued--his conduct was especially disappointing and reflected poorly on the brand. Mistakes happen, but they should be handled with kindness and grace, not hostility. Update: Mike, I appreciate your response; however, your description of what occurred today is not accurate. At no point did I ask or expect you to produce my order "in 10 seconds." When I arrived, you told me that my order would take approximately 10 minutes as you were adding it to the "bottom of the queue". All of the available seats were occupied, so rather than stand inside the restaurant, I went to wait in my car. I then received notification you cancelled my order.When I returned, I simply asked why you cancelled my order. Naturally, I was confused because I had already been told that my order was being prepared and would take approximately 10 minutes (after waiting a previous 40 minutes). What was most concerning was not the AT&T outage or the additional wait. I understand that technical problems occur and that those circumstances may have been completely outside of your control. The issue was the way you spoke to and treated me when I asked a reasonable question about my order. Your manner toward me was rude, aggressive, and unnecessarily hostile. I did not come into the restaurant demanding that you produce an order instantly. I asked how long it would be based upon the timeframe you had already given me. I also find it disappointing that, rather than acknowledging how the interaction was handled, your response attempts to characterize me as making unreasonable demands and yelling because you could not "produce an order in 10 seconds." That is simply untrue and deceptive. I at no point made any demand nor did I raise my voice. Customer service is often most important when something goes wrong. I would have had no issue being told, "I'm sorry, our internet is down and unfortunately it is going to take longer than expected." Instead, a relatively minor inconvenience became an unpleasant experience because of the manner in which you chose to communicate with me. The consistency of the udon was al dente, and the curry broth was not too thick either. I got the nikutama soba this time around and the egg was perfect and flavorful! A Delicious Trip Down Memory Lane!…read more Two Saturdays ago during our Plano visit, I was thrilled to discover a Mitsuwa Marketplace in the Legacy area, just a quick drive from The Colony! If you've been to the Mitsuwa in Edgewater, NJ, you'll understand the nostalgia. This location may not be as huge or spacious as Edgewater, but it still delivers that familiar Mitsuwa experience: Japanese groceries, a mini food court, and plenty of ready-to-eat goodies. The Tiger Prawn Tempura for $3 was an absolute steal--huge, crunchy, fresh-tasting, and delicious! We also grabbed lunch from one of the food court vendors before wandering through the grocery aisles and stocking up on some familiar Japanese favorites we've been missing. But the real standout? The customer service. Shoutout to Alex at the register, who was incredibly patient and accommodating when we asked about finding a cooler for our long drive back to San Antonio. He pointed us to customer service e to make sure we were taken care of. Enter Eddie, who took it a step further. He actually went into the back storage area and found us a clean, used styrofoam cooler--and then gave us three bags of complimentary ice because their ice machine had run out! Talk about going above and beyond. Great food, nostalgic finds, and genuinely kind people made this more than just a quick grocery stop--it was a little trip down memory lane with a side of Japanese comfort food.
