We really enjoyed our dinner at Current. I absolutely love the vibe. We were able to sit in front of the fireplace, relax, drink, eat, and even play a game. My Waikiki bowl was tasty with greens, quinoa, black beans, squash, avocado, corn, chimichurri, and a light vinaigrette. My partner also enjoyed his BLTA wrap. The coffee and ranch water were good, but my ranch water could have used a lime. My only other thought is that the bowl has all cold ingredients. I'm not sure if it would make sense to have a couple of the items in there warmed up. Maybe, or maybe just make that clear in the description. There also could have been a touch more quinoa. Aside from that, it's a nice place, they have some cool surf stuff in the shop, and we would have gone back today if we weren't heading out!

Oh, my goodness! What a find. This place has a great upscale beach vibe, perfect for the summer morning or equally great to warm up in the winter with a cup of coffee or tea with their fireplace. The food is amazing, great flavors, amazing taste and that would be both at breakfast and their evening menu. Current is open in the morning with a great selection of food and drinks and then open again in the evening and lunch time with mixed drinks and lunch and dinner choices. The staff is welcoming and provide fast and great customer service. We came here multiple times during different trips to the beach, and this place never disappoints. Keep your eyes open for their cafe sign as if you don't look, you could miss it. Can't wait to come back and enjoy some good coffee and food next time we are in town. Until next time! Cheers!

Very good nitro cold brew coffee and friendly staff! Very good breakfast a solid selection of breakfast pastries and the quiche was fantastic! Nice seating area for getting your morning started should you be visiting town, definitely recommend!

Savory waffle. REALLY good, but ours was cold.

Update: 12/15/24. I'm a Long Beach local, and I want nothing more than to support local businesses, especially in the wicked off season. But after 4 consecutive failures, I need to update my review. I don't know if it's the personnel changes or what, but Current is no longer a 4 (or even 3) star restaurant. And it isn't just a specific time of day during which Current is failing. One evening, we ordered a pepperoni flatbread (burnt) and a Caesar salad to go. The Caesar salad was basically some romaine with a strange dressing, very un-Caesar like. We ended up returning both items. So we tried lunch. We got a salad that didn't include the correct cheese or salami. No explanation until we pointed it out. The next time we tried brunch. The quiche was burnt. We went again for brunch last week - this time the quiche was cold. Even when we asked to have it re-heated, it was cold after one bite. For the longest time, we recommended Current. But no longer. Until they make some changes, Current will get a pass.

We checked in with the hostess who saw the notes for my requests. The hostess took care to seat us at the perfect table to enjoy each other, the view, and the music. I saw a review where the couple didn't like their table facing the view but side by side chairs. We got that same table - we loved it for the intimacy and view! (We did book at sunset rather than after dark. *Note--yes we were facing the ocean and sun was beaming in but it wasn't an issue due to the adjustable shade. The service was as such that I believe they would have accommodated us had we been unhappy. YAY - we got Alyssa as our server! I saw her name in a few Yelp reviews and she didn't disappoint. Randall, whose name I also saw was the bartender - and ditto for him. They serve a "Cocktail for a Cause" -- this month was for Pride. It went down fast so I ordered a Sazerac and was a happy sipper. Starters: Clam Chowder and Burrata. One of the BEST clam chowders I've had (Alyssa did say it was a new batch from earlier that day so lucky us.) The Burrata didn't dazzle my tastebuds but it was still good. ‍ Entrees: Fried Rock Fish with hand-cut fries -- good. They dust the fries with rice flour before frying...different but still tasty. My partner is a hand-cut fries traditionalist so I enjoyed them more than he. Alyssa....chicken or pork... she said pork so... Pork Schnitzel: perfectly prepared with a wonderful onion gravy! Served with fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts. For my taste the fingerlings were a touch overdone and the brussels were a touch underdone (and no, I don't like mushy veg.) The live music was around the corner so we could still hear each other AND enjoy the music. Wonderful Cost was pricey but we left full of good people, good drinks, good food, and good music. Worth the money in my book!

It's not big...less than a dozen tables inside, there is outdoor seating, and when the weather is nice I bet it's a great place to be on a warm summer evening. Right on the water, with views of the boats. Ilwaco itself is a bit of a dungy town, but this place offers some delicious dishes, and the ambience is cozy, & romantic. We were immediately seated, as we were the only ones at the restaurant on this cold, wet PNW day. We both ordered a cup of their crab bisque. Delicious. It really hit the spot, and warmed up our cold bones. What I really liked about it was it wasn't too salty! Both my husband and I added a bit of salt and that elevated the flavor, but I liked that the chef didn't over salt it, and gave me the choice of how much sodium I wanted to add. My husband wished he had ordered a bowl. It is delightful, flavorful and a decent amount of crab in it, as well. (I enjoyed it so much, I forgot to take a picture of it!!) The chef really knows his stuff and has a great flavor profile on the menu. My husband ordered the Helm Burger with tots. He gave them two thumbs up. The burger patty looked fresh homemade, as opposed to frozen bought at Costco. It was a decent size, & thick and juicy. With the addition of bacon to it, he was greatly satisfied. I ordered the Deckhand. Let me tell you, this was a delicious sandwich! The pork is tender and juicy, the sauce is sweet but not overly so. The picked added a wonderful crispy texture along with the sweetness of the caramelized onions....it was a tastebud explosion. So good. And so filling. I had to take 1/2 home and was a bit annoyed when I found my husband ate it the next day for lunch! I guess that just means I'll have to go back sooner than later to order it again. I'd like to also mention that the tater tots were perfectly fried and crispy! The waitress from friendly and attentive and the chef was sweet and so pleased with our compliments. Don't wait a moment longer. Get yourself to Ilwaco and check this gem of a place out! You won't be disappointed.

We arrived before 5:00 pm, and it took a while to even put an order in. Even though we were sitting in the bar and there were a LOT of servers/bussers/etc. We ordered the Mushroom burger, the Chicken Bacon Guac burger and the Prime Rib Dip. Let's start with the pros - the Chicken Bacon Guac burger was pretty good! But the Prime Rib Dip had something like shredded meat on it, not sliced meat. So, when you dipped it in the Au jus, chunks of meet fell into the Au jus. Be ready to fish them out with a fork! The Mushroom burger was an exceptionally thin burger. Our server asked how we wanted it cooked. But it didn't matter. A burger that thin was coming out well done, no matter what. It had mushrooms on it, but not many at all. And we ordered the Cajun Tater Tots. Tonight, it was just like someone cooked tater tots, then shook some seasoning on them, and maybe the lid fell off the seasoning? They were drenched in some kind of Cajun-adjacent spice. We had recently been telling visiting guests that the Lost Roo was the one consistent, reasonably priced restaurant on the peninsula. We're going to have to stop telling people that now. Sadly, it'll be a while before we go back.
