Lovely Astoria institution. Combination bar/music venue/restaurant in the historic Labor Temple building. I mostly come here for breakfast, which is solid traditional American breakfast fare. Bacon and eggs, hashbrowns, blueberry pancakes, and the like. Staff is super personable and friendly. Food is great. Highly recommend. This is my go-to breakfast place in Astoria.

I walked into Silk City meets the Trocadero. This gem in Astoria is what this Philly girl needed today. I got a seat at the counter and cup of water immediately, such an attentive staff. I ordered a half order of the Matty-J. This is not your typical biscuit sandwich and gravy. The gravy was thick and flavorful, smothering the biscuit stacked with sausage patty and egg over easy, frosted with shredded cheese. I added wee bit of tabasco with bottomless black coffee and I was transported to Sundays in the 90's at the Silk City Diner. This place has an eclectic vibe with pinball machines and stage reminding me of the Troc in its heyday. The staff is friendly as well as the patrons. The grillman was working NONSTOP, sign of a disciplined master chef. If you're in the Portland area this is definitely worth the drive to the coast(2hrs). I made it and so should you.

Just had the Matty J biscuits and gravy sandwich. Absolutely yummy! I definitely recommend. The restaurant overall is pretty cool. Breakfast diner in front and a bar in the back. They have pinball machines a stage and more booths in the back. The waitress is a sweetheart and attentive even as the place got busy. If you are in Astoria check it out.

If you want an American breakfast in a quiet dive - the Labor Temple can't be beat. I had pigs in a blanket with gravy rather that syrup & sugar. Yum!

We stepped inside to Hank Williams on the jute box. This place is a local art deco treasure with labor history. Now it functions as one of the coolest places in Astoria. The food is standard diner fare-- nothing special-- but our server, Cindy, was a rock star.

Great food still, been coming here for years and I really enjoy it. Fast and friendly service, nice selection of music to go along with my breakfast. Coffee hot and tasty, food was very good and portions large. The wait was a bit long and the prices (along with everyone else) went up but otherwise, no complaints. I will miss this place when I move

The set up here is quite interesting and comes very close to a one stop shop. It has part convenience store and beer bar all wrapped into one and the tap list of beer is pretty extensive. Lots of local or PNW area beers on tap but they also have some exclusive beers of their own that I almost missed. I was ready to go but Steve pointed this out to me so we got a beer here after all. I liked the tucked away seating and at the time we were there there wasn't anyone else having a beer so the peace and quiet was appreciated. The beer that we had was a lager and it was okay. It was apparently brewed out of Bend, Oregon but I am not sure if another brewery does this for them or not. The flavor highlights with this lager is a breadiness and somewhat of a clean aftertaste. It was fair but it kind of gave me the impression of a big corporate beer as I didn't see much personality to it in the flavor profile. But other than that I did enjoy my first visit to a Growler Guys and as the name implies you can bring in a Growler Bottle and select from the wide list of beers to enjoy.

Worker's Tavern offers a full bar along with slot machines. There is an ATM on-site for those who need to take money out to gamble with. Indoors is small but has tables to seat large groups. In the back one will find an outdoor seating area with a dissimilar vibe than the tavern. During our visit, the kitchen staff was about 45 minutes late so we weren't able to order breakfast right away. Once the kitchen staff decided to show up, there were quite a few people ready to order their breakfast which caused disjointed and undercooked meal deliveries. Table service was not offered inside or outside. All transactions are done at the bar. The breakfast menu doesn't list pricing and when I asked about the prices, I was told they change regularly. Shady statement. While waiting for the kitchen staff I sipped on a Bloody Mary for $12 and my wife sipped on a Screwdriver for $6.50. The Bloody Mary seemed a bit overpriced to me. Two people in our group ordered the Chicken Fried Steak and it was still frozen on the inside when served. Worker's Tavern corrected the meals; however, I'm certain the meals were undercooked due to the pressure of the late kitchen staff and the hungry demands of the morning patrons. It is imperative that staff show up at their scheduled shift times. I wanted to try the Cheddar Fritters & Syrup but was told they were out of the item. My wife and I shared the Mushroom Swiss Omelet for $14 + $4.25 up-charge to add sausage to the omelet. We were both happy with our meal choice. Overall, Worker's Tavern has potential; however, that potential was severely during our visit.
