I found your store (sitting at my desk in another state) by googling "cupcake bakery" near the hotel where the meeting was in Woburn, MA. I had ZERO idea on where to order 3 dozen cupcakes, with fall colors, to be delivered. Several businesses were revealed, but my thinking was if your name is about a city of cupcakes, seems like the best choice. I was not wrong. I ordered 3 dozen cupcakes for delivery via Uber Eats. The information I received from the business colleagues at the hotel, was that the order was fantastic! I didn't get to see them (or taste them), but it was shared with me that they were beautiful, fall colors, tasty and left a great impression with the group. I went into work today and a co worker brought some in. The only option left was a delicious vanilla cupcake with a delicious filling in the middle. It had pink frosting with pink sugar flakes on top but I took the frosting off. Not a huge fan of a lot of frosting. The cupcake itself was absolutely amazing. So much I had to take a picture of business label so I can visit one day and buy more. I'm currently planning my daughter's birthday so it may be sooner than I think. Not my normal cupcake place but needed some variety for a last minute Birthday Party for the boys and my normal place makes you do 6 of a flavor and I didn't need 48 cupcakes just to get variety so I came to Yelp and found Cupcake City and OMG we were not disappointed, the variety is crazy, tons of options, Lots of flavor! Carrot is my fave (I know weird, I just love it!!) but the carrot wasn't as great as the other place, but everything else was FAR BETTER!!! They even package is nice little holders for each one that hold them still! They have a seasonal changing menu as well which is nice. Strawberry Shortcake was my super want on this trip but someone else stole those ones so Ill have to make a special trip back just to get one before Summer is over! Over the course of a few days, some cupcakes from Cupcake City found their way from Reading to my table and then into my belly. It went something like this: Tuesday: A friend in that area happened to be driving past Tewksbury Community Market, which he discovered was open Tuesday afternoons during the summer (unfortunately, that market is now winding down for the season). He discovered a Cupcake City truck there and bought a package of 4 cupcakes. Wednesday: Same friend drove out here with the cupcakes. We started with the Red Velvet cupcake, and it just steamrolled from there. This cupcake had been refrigerated the night before, and it was already about 30 hours old, but it still tasted like it was only 30 MINUTES old! It was still quite moist and unquestionably delicious. I was content to stop there for the evening, but he said, "Now the Pumpkin Spice?" I couldn't say no, but I also remembered to take a photo of the remaining cupcakes before they somehow disappeared. The Pumpkin Spice was equally delicious and moist. It's more like a spice cupcake with a hint of pumpkin, and it also had a cream cheese frosting as did the Red Velvet. Thursday: Time to finish the remaining cupcakes. By now, with 2 overnights in a refrigerator, they were slightly less moist but still incredibly delicious. The Vanilla cupcake is basic good. We deliberately saved the Chocolate Bourbon Pecan cupcake for last, and we weren't disappointed. They even found a way to coat the toasted pecans on top of the frosting with the same flavor! I am not a fan of cupcakes which have exceedingly sweet frostings. The ones from Cupcake City are sweet, but not ridiculously sweet. I've also limited my sweets over the past few months - these cupcakes were both a (light) sugar high and a mental high, knowing there's really good cupcakes out there waiting for me when I can get to that part of Massachusetts again. read more

Closed Mondays, oh no!. As I was getting back into my car, I ran into the owners. They quickly went inside and gave me an complimentary assorted dozen. Asked me to donate to the Dana Farber if I so desired! As a childhood cancer Dana Farber survivor of 40 years, consider it done! Can't say how much this interaction brightened more than just my day. This review is long overdue! Cupcake City is, hands-down, my absolute favorite (and the best, lol) gourmet cupcake shop in the Boston area! Amazing customer service!!! Cupcake City proved to be the best cupcake shop around! My mother and boyfriend have been raving about this place for years so I knew I had to give it a try. My boyfriend recently got into a highly competitive grad-school program so as a proud girlfriend I knew I had to congratulate him with a sweet surprise! The only downside was that I am away at college in New York. Thus, being long-distance (400+ miles away!) means I couldn't pick up the cupcakes and deliver them myself. To my surprise, however, I realized Cupcake City was on UberEats. I immediately began putting together an order, but realized his favorite flavor - the chocolate chip cupcake - was unavailable. Only the daily flavors were available through the app. I figured it would shoot an email to the shop to see if they could somehow swap out a cupcake for the specialty flavor. After all, the worst they could say was no. The owner, Karin, was exceptional! She replied to my email within minutes and was happy to help me with the surprise. She even went the extra mile and let me add a little note with his cupcakes! PLUS, she emailed me the morning of with a picture of his cupcakes ready to go, packaged beautifully with a bow! Her dedication to her customers truly shows and none of this would have been possible without her help. It was a win-win situation! Always been a huge fan of Cupcake City. The cupcakes are cute, quality and generally delicious! I preordered a dozen for Christmas this year and was absolutely shocked when the girl gave me my total of 51.00. Last time I ordered from there a dozen was 38.00. Fifty bucks for 12 cupcakes is steep. Especially when they were offering a "walk in special" for 46.00. It was like being punished for ordering ahead. First time having the funfetti as well and I removed the frosting. It was bland which I have never experienced here. I'll be scaling back on ordering these from now on, just too expensive. read more

Most recently, I purchased a half dozen cupcakes to celebrate my little brother's graduation. I was able to customize the cupcakes and Karin, the owner, saw to it that the cupcakes were decorated in his school colors as an extra special touch! The cupcakes were amazingly fresh and very decadent. They recommend you do not refrigerate and instead eat them within 24 hours of purchase, as they do not use any preservatives, which I think is awesome. Coming from DC with Baked and Wired, Georgetown Cupcakes, Sprinkles and a plethora of other cupcake establishments; I'm was so ecstatic when I found Cupcake City in Boston! I've been looking for a great cupcake place in Boston and this is it. I'm also happy that they have a food truck in Boston because going out to Newton or Reading is a trek I'm not ready to make. I mean the cupcakes are that good but still why deprive us of such deliciousness with these far locations. But anyways back to the real review. So I saw the Cupcake City food truck at the Boston Local Food Festival, and I had already bookmarked the place on Yelp after searching for a decent cupcake place a few weeks earlier, so I knew I had to get one. I got the tiramisu and immediately regretted my decision on sticking with one cupcake versus two. The cupcake was moist and tasted amazing! It also had the right amount of icing on top so you could enjoy it with each bite without it being an overload. It might actually be better than Georgetown Cupcakes, but I'd have to try a couple more flavors before confirming that statement. But if you see the Cupcake City food truck I'd say stop and go for it, it's good. I really wish I knew the Boston areas in which the food truck resides so I could just go there anytime I please, but I will eventually find it and try more. read more

Cupcake city is a little hidden on main street going towards North Reading if you're coming from Stoneham it's going to be on your right tucked away in a little brick plaza. There is plenty of parking for this little bakery. They don't have a whole lot of flavors but they have a good 12 on display at a time. They are fresh and delicious. The frosting on the ones I chose was buttercream. It was light and not to sweet. Just enough frosting and not to much. The cake was dense and delectable. I prefer a moist dense cake. I bought 4 cupcakes. Chocolate chip which was awesome and also margarita, Oreo and nutty butter. I only ate the chocolate chip but I'm sure the others are yummy too.
