They did seem out of some stuff and I grabbed the last lobster tail ($8) The red velvet cupcakes looked really good and I would defintely recommend coming here for any sweet treats or cakes. Since I walked here I can't advise on the parking, if lucky you'll find some street and you may even be able to park in the lot to the right of them. They have SO many items on the menu, it was actually hard for me to decide. I settled for a Red Velvet cupcake, a Dulce de Leche Cupcake, a mini ricotta pie and a cannoli. I appreciate the mini sizes - especially for the Cannoli. It's rich and was stuffed with filling without having that overly heavy after cannoli feeling. The ricotta pie is hands down my favourite it is soft and crumbly and just the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. The cupcakes were beautiful and tasted fresh. I called no one picked up so I stopped by to talked to them and one person told me oh the baker doesn't believe that I'm telling the truth because she did make a half vanilla and half chocolate and and I said she didn't and if she did why would I have wasted my time left work early to come see her. Unfortunately I have to write this review and only give two stars based on my most recent experience with this bakery. I will say that I have used this bakery many times in the past for customized cake ordering and have never had an issue until today. I placed an order for a cake and the girl who was taking the order was not paying any attention to me. She didn't ask me anything about how I wanted the cake to look and she was rushing through taking the order. Still, i placed the order because it was a fairly simple cake and I trusted that they would do a good job as they have in the past. The next day, I got a call from Continental Bakery saying that I never picked up my cake. Well, thats because I placed the order for a cake to pick up a week from now and the girl who took the order put down the wrong pick up date. Instead of apologizing to me for the mistake and assuring me they would make a new cake for next week, the person on the phone treated it as if I made the mistake. I had to cancel the order after this experience because I was afraid that they will just place the cake in the freezer for a week until I pick it up. I would recommend training your staff to be more attentive to the customers. When someone places a cake order they should be confident that the cake will be fresh and ready on the date requested instead of having to worry that the order is incorrect because the order was rushed. I will be taking my business to Elm Street Bakery from now on. read more

Oh Continental Bakery, please move to FL and open up a store! I'm so addicted to their cookies. I'm having withdrawals now that I'm home. I was able to walk to this bakery from where I was staying. I got a lb of cookies on my first trip and a chocolate cannoli. Second trip was to take home more cookies and cannoli's. I believe the cookies were close to $8lb and the cannolis were like $1.70? Not bad prices compared to the non Italian bakery here. They charge over $12 for a lb of non Italian cookies.. blah!! They do make specialty cakes, they did have a few displayed. I wasn't able to try their cakes or pies. I am trying to convince my brother to send me a lb of cookies a week! lol! This was the first place I hit when I came to town. I'd defiantly go back! The only thing good I can say about order was that it was ready on time. This has always been my favorite bakery for pastry and cookies and I have no issue with these products, but my son's christening cake was a disaster. I did a cake order, custom, with the cake decorator a couple of weeks earlier and did it in person. We designed a plain buttercream cake that was supposed to have different shaped leaves in different color greens cascading down the side all in Buttercream. I told the baker it had to feed 20. She initially told me a medium cake would be best, but when I questioned why, she said it was better to feed 25-30. I insisted on a small knowing there's always leftovers. When I picked the cake up yesterday the woman who brought it over asked if it looked right and I said not at all. I let her know the leaves WERE in different color greens, but they were all the same leaf and they were in fondant which I hate. She looked at the instructions on the back of the order form and saw all the specifics for my cake. She even said my design sounded pretty!!! I took the cake since it was for my son's christening this morning and there was no time to get another cake made. I had prepaid in full for the cake at the time of my order, $50. After I told them about the mistakes they didn't offer any money back or anything, just that she'd let the baker know. Not sure how that was going to help me in that moment. I would have let all this go but no one ate the cake! It was terrible!!! The buttercream was waxy, overly sweet and almost inedible, I had to peel all the fondant leaves off that were thick and nasty, and the cake tasted like it had been frozen! I threw away more than half. Thank god I insisted on the smaller cake. This was an awful experience and I will never order a cake from there again. read more

When the cakes are fresh and well-made, they are a 4 star bakery! However, the inconsistency of their cakes is a huge problem. We often order cakes for special occasions and of late we have found them previously frozen, incorrect, poorly decorated, or, as was the case yesterday, missing an entire layer so half way throughout cutting the cake fell over. We have addressed some of these issues with the owner, and she simply tries to mend things by offering a discount or remade cake...that is really not the point. She clearly has some inept individuals working for her, and the quality of the place is suffering because of them. These cakes aren't cheap and a messed up or lousy cake ruins an otherwise happy occasion. It's both unprofessional and inconsiderate to run a business in this manner. I ordered my wedding cake from Continental Bakery and I found the whole process to be stress-free. I called ahead to find out if I needed an appointment and was pleased to find out I could come in any time the wedding cake specialist was there. So, the day I wanted to go in, I just called in to make sure she was there. I was able to go after work. We tried several cakes and chose the strawberry short cake. I was so pleased with the cake. It was so moist and the frosting was delicious. My guests loved it as well. I would highly recommend them for wedding cakes. The cheese cake is great too! read more
