Has been here forever.. seriously. Went in tonight with husband and I have to say first off the quality has really been suffering. Cream filled cupcakes had a micro amount of cream filling, the pastries are primarily miniatures, I asked the girl working tonight if they ever make traditional size eclairs anymore and the look she threw me could have intimidated Satan himself. She proceeds to argue with me that these 1 1/2 " eclairs "were traditional size". Um no sorry they're usually much larger. The selection of Italian pastries has also become extremely limited over the years. The prices are IMO a bit too high considering the recent lower quality. An area (Malden, Everett, Revere) that once thrived in Italian bakeries now has very few and its disheartening to see what is becoming of these few places left. Too bad they haven't thought to get rid of those semi-useless racks in the middle of the store and that circular cake case to make room for bistro style seating, serve some coffee beverages, stay open later and revamp the pastry back to what it used to be. read more

Almond Macaroons and the plain Macaroons are always great. The strawberry with chocolate dip is very huge and fresh. My next stop whenever I go to see my friend in Everett. Would recommend people to try this local bakery. read more

I ordered my wedding cake from here. When I first went in, the owner quoted me $200 for 80 people. I updated my counts to 60 and she didn't lower the price (I had just enough cake for 50 guest plus a couple extra, so glad I rounded high). Then I requested it be delivered at 1:30pm (as noone would be there to receive the cake from my party) for a 3pm party. At 4:30 (half way through the party), I sent the maid of honor to the bakery, because after an hour of calling with only a busy signal we were ready to buy cupcakes from stop and shop. Apperently they delivered it at 12 to the fridge without telling anyone and put it next to OUR salad. We didn't have salad and our food was delivered at 2:45 (on time). I got no apology or compensation of any sort but rather a bunch of "that's how we always do it" "we told the bartender" (no they didn't, we asked him if he saw a cake first) "I've never had a mistake and I do hundreds of wedding cakes a year" Well I don't give a crap about the other weddings. They're not mine. And you messed mine up. Thanks. Never going again. read more

Been going here for years. Pies for Thanksgiving, cakes for special occasions, and pastries. Every time it has been great and fresh. Elm St bakery in Everett is good, but Continental is definitely better. Never had a bad experience. This is my go-to place for baked goods. read more

Walked in at 4:50. Woman comes from back room and says "we'll be right with you. We're closing in 6 minutes ". Ok, there are two of you. What could take more than 5 minutes in a bakery? And why be so rude about it? Just left. They are obviously doing a booming business and don't need the customers. They should change their closing time to 4:50. read more

This place is usually a hit or miss for me. Ive been here several times, the pastries and cakes are ok with a decent selection, but the service is terrible. I came in and picked up the only strawberry shortcake for my stepdads birthday and the girl at the counter dropped the damn cake on the counter and then laughed. They went in the back to go fix it, took over 20 minutes, the staff kept looking at me and laughing, and they didnt discount me for the inconvenience. Ok so where do I start? Ok so we had ordered our wedding cake since May, chose the design and everything and paid for it in full in June, our wedding was last weekend on the 18. So a few days before the wedding we were going around making sure that everything was in order and ready for the wedding. When we get to the bakery, they said they couldn't find our paperwork. That should have been a red flag for us. Eventually they did call us and say that they found our paperwork and everything is ready to go. Well when Saturday, July 18th came, and the cake was delivered, oh my god was I pissed. Not only was it not the right size, it was even the right cake! The cake was not the right size, it was not the design we picked out, I never got a piece of the cake, along with several other guests because it was too small, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the right flavor. Personally I think they lost our paperwork and just said they found it and tried to make a cake out of what they remembered from our meeting. That's $575 down the drain. I love this place. Canoli's, cheesecake, rum cake, cookies, its all YUMMY!! I come from California and always stop here. The prices, services, and quality of food is great. I've been going to Continental for years. I agree with my mother who says that they have the best ricotta pie anywhere. She lives in NJ and has sampled ricotta pies from some of the best Italian bakeries. I love their mini-pastries, especially the Neopolitans. I stop by when my sweet tooth acts up and I want a treat with minmal guilt. When it was time to get a sheet cake for my sister's milestone birthday, I ordered it here. She requested yellow cake with butter cream frosting and we had them decorate it with things meaningful to her (e.g., yarn and knitting needles). EVERYONE at the party raved about how delicious it was. There was a "write-o" on the cake, but it just gave us something amusing to talk about, especially because my sister is an editor. read more

My husband ordered a cake from this place for my b-day and the cake flavor was wrong, the outside was perfect but inside was strawberry shortcake vs the chocolate cake that he had ordered. The cake was good but I was disappointed it wasn't chocolate. I've been getting my kids birthday cakes here for the past 2 years. THeir prices are super fair and reasonable and they do beautiful work. Have a cake with cannolli filling in the middle ...IT"S HEAVEN!!! And their BIG cannollis are just about $1 with the smaller ones costing less...can it get any better than that. They are very friendly and work with you to get what you want done. Highly recommend and will probably even get my wedding cake from here. read more
