We were walking around the shopping area and we noticed the sign for Mike's Pastry. I told my husband and stepdaughter to walk in and check out the pastries. In the North End, this store always has long lines we were happy to experience no wait whatsoever. The lady working behind the counter said that it gets busy after work and at night, but during the daytime it's usually pretty slow. We got two macaroons and they were delicious.... Yumm.....
If you want Mikes Pastry but want to avoid the North End parking situation, this location is an alternative. Located in Assembly Row with ample parking or access to the Orange Line. Here at Mikes you can get their famous cannolis, or other decadent pastries if you wish. Plus this location takes card! I love their Florentine cannolis although they did go up in price, now $10 :( Little pricey but yummy.
Lady who helped us was hilarious and helpful! Cannoli- five stars. Fantastic. Not too sweet. Huge. Creamy. I got the traditional one. The pistachio cookies were so disappointing. Last time I had them was 2001. Now they are soo sweet they are inedible for me.
Cannoli's were amazing... plus I got a dipped raspberry jam filled cookie... so good... all the desserts looked amazing...
Mike's Pastry is one of Boston's most renowned Italian bakeries. Every time I go to Boston, I always try to stop at Mike's Pastry for their cannolis. I had no idea that Mike's Pastry has expanded beyond its historic North End location to Harvard Square, Somerville's Assembly Row, and TD Garden. The Somerville's Assembly Row location is right by the office I was visiting so I had to stop by and grab some cannolis before taking the MBTA Commuter Rail home. Mike's Pastry is spacious and there are mouthwatering pastries in the display cases. On the wall, there is a photo of the different cannoli flavors. I chose the pistachio and peanut butter for my husband and the oreo and chocolate chip cannoli for myself. They are $7 each. Mike's Pastry is known for its iconic white box with bright blue lettering tied with string. The cannolis were as good as I remembered it. I really enjoyed the oreo and chocolate chip cannoli. The cannoli shell is crispy and the cannoli filling is so creamy and filled to the max. There are some tables inside and outside to enjoy your treats. The staff member that assisted me was very friendly and helpful.
I haven't been back in Boston for many years and was pleasantly surprised to find a Mike's pastry in assembly row. I had to stop and get some cannolis and also tried a chocolate roll. It wasn't busy at all, and the cannolis were piped immediately, so the pastry was crispy and delicious. The chocolate roll was way too sweet and disappointing. Unlike the location in the north end, this one was very calm and almost empty on Sunday afternoon and it also took a credit card!
When I think pastry shop I envision a cute cafe to sit and sip some coffee and indulge on a treat. However this pastry shop is just a grab and go situation. Prices seemed average for boston. Tried 2 diff cookies (one sprinkle, one black & white). Disliked both. The sprinkle cookie had no flavor and was dry. The b&w cookie was more like a cake. Not sure how the other desserts are, but don't recommend the cookies.
Not gonna lie. I was like, what's the big deal about a cannoli? But I like trying things I haven't before, and everything I read says to try Mike's Pastry. Knowing it was a touristy thing, I decided to try it anyway. I Door Dashed them. I ordered 3 so I can try a variety: pistachio, hazelnut and espresso. I didn't realize how big they are... After my second attempt, I still won't be able to finish, but then again, I did order 3 lol All three of them were delicious, but I think the espresso was my favorite. I'm a huge fan of cannolis, apparently. Absolutely delicious and creamy on the inside. Stop by Mike's if you get a chance and get a cannoli. You won't regret it!
While Mikes Pastry is known for their cannolis, I did not get the cannoli most recently. Went in just to browse but the cheesecakes caught my attention. They looked amazing so I had to get one, ending up picking the Pecan Caramel Cheesecake. While it's a little pricey, the slice was very generous. For me, I don't prefer my desserts too sweet, and this cheesecake hit the spot! Was flavorful but was not overly too sweet. Could still taste the cream cheese without being overpowered by sugar. Overall, if you'd like to avoid the lines in the North End, take the T for 3 stops to assembly for a crowd free experience of Mike's! I'm already eyeing the Brownie Cheesecake and will treat myself soon!
i stopped in to the famous Mike's Pastry post dinner, and tried their dipped peanut butter cookie. when i tell you it's one of the best cookies i've ever had, it is sooo good! it tastes like a mix of peanut butter and stella doro cookies. i would have been just as happy without the chocolate dip. of course, they have an assortment of amazing desserts on the larger side, from cannolis to lobster tails to cakes and everything in between. everything is delicious. ambiance: 3/5 food: 5/5 service: 4/5 mike's pastry: 4/5
The bakery itself was clean and bright. The workers weren't super friendly, though. I wasn't bothered by it too much but we were visibly confused since it was our first time here. We were expecting to see the cannoli in the display case and there weren't any. We had to ask more questions that we should have to be able to place our order. The cannoli itself were delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the Nutella - it was just okay & didn't have enough Nutella flavor for my liking. But the peanut butter?! Oh, I would 100% get that again. They're big cannoli - you can have it for yourself or share & be equally satisfied. We took our to- go and brought them home. They should be eaten same day or next day (even that's a little wilty) because the cannoli shell does get soggy. I would come again especially now knowing you just need to order from the menu board & not expect to see the cannoli before ordering. Hopefully the flavor you want is available!
Got this recommendation from a friend and the cannoli was quite delicious! I got the Florentine cannoli and it was really good! Only tried one though so I can't speak on the other flavors or other baked goods they have. Cool little vibe inside! It's cash only tho so keep that in mind!

The Plain Cannoli was light and not too sweet. The Raspberry was also not too sweet and had a healthy serving of raspberry jam. Despite having no customers at that time, the staff wasn't incredibly friendly. Instead of giving us recommendations, they were visibly annoyed that we were trying to figure out which ones we were going to buy. The pastries were good despite the service, so definitely give it a try.

So exciting that Mike's has a location in Somerville! We tried the chocolate crème and amaretto cannoli. The chocolate crème was okay- tasted like artificial chocolate pudding and personally not my taste. But the shell was very fresh. Amaretto isn't traditional but wow was it good! Super thick, almost like a paste filling with strong cherry and almond flavor. I would definitely get that again! The lady working was also super friendly and happy to accommodate allergies. There's some seating inside, but we enjoyed our treats outdoor. read more
I picked up some mikes pastry in Somerville after driving by the downtown location and seeing how busy it was. I was excited to be in and out in just a few minutes with my order. I got 3 things and all were terrible. I threw them all away. They were stale and were not a joy to eat. The 2 stars is because of the staff member. He's was very friendly and had great customer service but the product was blah! read more

I haven't been back in Boston for many years and was pleasantly surprised to find a Mike's pastry in assembly row. I had to stop and get some cannolis and also tried a chocolate roll. The black and white cookie was so good we came back 2 days in a row. The workers were friendly and the place had a cute vibe. The cannolis are on the sweeter side but that exactly what we were looking for. read more
Before our visit to Boston, we were made aware of the two main heavy hitters of cannolis and that if given the chance, we should stop by and pay at least one of the "Big M's" a visit. We were at Assembly Row having a meal and saw that a Mike's Pastry was here. Thought, "Excellent and quite convenient!" We were dragging our feet heading to their main location in North End/Little Italy due to the known long (albeit fast moving) lines, parking debacles, etc. We were so pleased that we were able to avoid all that hullabaloo. From our understanding, this location offers the same flavors and pastry options, so it's the authentic Mike's cannoli experience in the accessible Assembly Row. We decided to try one of their pistachio cannolis ($7). It was delicious and we were not disappointed. The pastry has a delectable crunch, the cannoli is well stuffed, smooth, and creamy with the perfect balance of sweetness. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the store was clean with ample seating. Quick service, convenient parking, and a very tasty pastry. Great visit and highly recommend. Thanks, Mike's! read more
Came here for a quick takeout order after dinner for some dessert. There was a small line, but the folks working were efficient at trying to get through it as quickly as possible. The interior was nothing special, but it felt clean. It definitely felt more like a grab and go spot rather than enjoying your pastry of choice inside. The price was a bit expensive, but you're paying for the name as Mike's is pretty well known. The quality of dessert didn't feel too different from the North End location. I enjoyed the cannoli and the tiramisu was tasty as well. If I'm ever craving a cannoli again I'll be sure to stop by this Assembly location in the future! read more
Tried the branch at North End and and had to get more cannolis before leaving Boston. They have some different flavors here compared to the other branch but tasty Just the same! Hazelnut Cannoli was my favorite! Really lovely creamy filling on the inside which had Just the night sweetness and went really well with the shell as well. Oreo Cannoli was delicious as well. Filling had that Oreo flavor and actual Oreo crumbs on the outside too. Not as good as the hazelnut though. Blueberry Scone was okay. I expected it to be really good, but the blueberries were all just on one side. Rest of the scone was plain. Turtle Cup was rich! Chocolate covering was nice on its own, and caramel flavor good too. Excellent pastries!!! Had a delicious time trying the hazelnut, Nutella, original Cannolis!!! We also tried the tiramisu pastry and it was amazing. Rich and creamy and flavorful ! Didn't get to try the cheesecake slices but worth a trip for more!!! Friendly and informative staff who make good recommendations! read more

So great!! A superb addition to assembly row. The cannolis are amazing obviously but any of the pastries are sure to make your day. Big upside to the original Mike's (tho I've only been there a few times because honestly there's better in the north end, as opposed to this one!!) is this location takes card and Apple pay. Last time I was in the OG was cash only. This is huge for me!! And right by all my favorite shops spas and work! The lady who gave me my pastry was in a contagiously good mood. read more

There's a few locations for Mike's Pastry and so glad we were able to stumble onto this one while attempting to get Celtics gear for a friend! Boston cream pie - for chocolate frosting lovers and overall cream cake lovers, this is a classic choice. It was a little on the sweet side for me, but still very good! The original cannoli - wowza, amazing and the perfect sweetness. Loved it! read more
I can only speak to the takeout experience at Mike's in Assembly Row, since we picked some cannolis up after doing some shopping in the area. I've been to other Mike's locations before and this one was very similar food-wise, so we decided to try some cannolis flavors we haven't had before. We ordered the amaretto and chocolate cream cannolis (which were about $7 each!!). Despite sitting in the container for a couple hours before they were eaten, the cannolis weren't soggy at all and kept their shape well. The amaretto one was unique and came coated in almonds with a chocolate drizzle on the shell. The chocolate cream one was a big let down, and just tasted like chocolate pudding filling to me. It was neither creamy nor cheesy, how I prefer my cannolis to be. Although they have some unique and interesting flavors here at Mike's, I'd just stick to the basics if you want a tasty cannoli experience! read more
Always wondered what a cannoli was supposed to taste like. This was crispy on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside. Very tasty. Had the peanut butter. It was a winner. The place is huge with so many options to choose from. Very clean place. Great service. They even box and tie it up for you. A+ Mike's. read more
Came to the house of the cannoli and it was okay but nothing out of this world. The filling is good but a bit bland and the crust could be crunchier. I had the hazelnut, pistachio and original, Nono stood out to me. I also tried the fudge brownie and it was a bit too sweet for me. Service was fast and rushed, which made the whole experience a bit tense. Definitely a tourist place but worth trying if you're in the area. read more
Staff wasn't very friendly, but the cannolis made up for it! The cannolis are huge and have great flavor. I got the espresso and the Oreo and they were both great. I will come back every time I'm in Boston and will recommend to everyone! read more

Stopped by for an afternoon snack for a tiramisu. The pastry was massive and definitely a good bang for your buck. It wasn't too sweet, but it was a bit heavy--perhaps better split among two. The tiramisu was very soft, and the ladyfingers were completely soaked in coffee. So yummy! Note: this place accepts card! I believe the Mike's Pastry in North End only accepts cash. read more

First time in this location, cleaner and no wait compared to the location in the North End. I brought 2 pistachio and 2 hazelnut cannolis. It is so good even is $5 each. Too bad they don't have lobster tail and cream puffs. Definitely will come back again if I am around the area. read more

Cannolis are hands down the key to my heart always! And mikes espresso cannolis are just my favorite. Assembly row is my favorite location to go. Parking is super easy and you get in and out. The store is super bright and in a great location with tons of other food spots near by to try too! Perfect for date night or a family night out. read more
Mikes Pastry is a must try Boston classic! Personally I don't find cannolis all that exciting but Mike's does an amazing job with them! Despite being fried, the shell is not oily at all. The filling is rich and creamy, and pretty sweet. I liked the pistachio flavor because they just roasted the nuts so it balanced out the sweetness of the filling. Definitely check out Mike's! The Lobster tails are also great, and very big!! read more
Very open space! Even on a crowded day at assembly it's not too hectic here- which is a nice change to the ambiance in the north end. Lots of the same pastries, same cool hanging balls of string to seal the boxes. It's a family affair- seems like cousins and moms/grandmas. I like that vibe. They're super friendly. I got a lobster tail and an americano. Nice strong European coffee! Second trip I got a caramel pecan cannoli and espresso. The cannoli had a fresh crispy shell. The flavor combo of caramel and pecan was classic and delicious. Would like to try the other flavors of cannoli (like amaretto) and the ricotta cheesecake in the future. read more

Mikes in Somerville is just pasterys, no bread?
I didn't see any bread when I was there but I thought the pastrys I bought weren't good quality
