We were walking around the shopping area and we noticed the sign for Mike's Pastry. I told my husband and stepdaughter to walk in and check out the pastries. In the North End, this store always has long lines we were happy to experience no wait whatsoever. The lady working behind the counter said that it gets busy after work and at night, but during the daytime it's usually pretty slow. We got two macaroons and they were delicious.... Yumm.....
If you want Mikes Pastry but want to avoid the North End parking situation, this location is an alternative. Located in Assembly Row with ample parking or access to the Orange Line. Here at Mikes you can get their famous cannolis, or other decadent pastries if you wish. Plus this location takes card! I love their Florentine cannolis although they did go up in price, now $10 :( Little pricey but yummy.
Lady who helped us was hilarious and helpful! Cannoli- five stars. Fantastic. Not too sweet. Huge. Creamy. I got the traditional one. The pistachio cookies were so disappointing. Last time I had them was 2001. Now they are soo sweet they are inedible for me.
Cannoli's were amazing... plus I got a dipped raspberry jam filled cookie... so good... all the desserts looked amazing...
Mike's Pastry is one of Boston's most renowned Italian bakeries. Every time I go to Boston, I always try to stop at Mike's Pastry for their cannolis. I had no idea that Mike's Pastry has expanded beyond its historic North End location to Harvard Square, Somerville's Assembly Row, and TD Garden. The Somerville's Assembly Row location is right by the office I was visiting so I had to stop by and grab some cannolis before taking the MBTA Commuter Rail home. Mike's Pastry is spacious and there are mouthwatering pastries in the display cases. On the wall, there is a photo of the different cannoli flavors. I chose the pistachio and peanut butter for my husband and the oreo and chocolate chip cannoli for myself. They are $7 each. Mike's Pastry is known for its iconic white box with bright blue lettering tied with string. The cannolis were as good as I remembered it. I really enjoyed the oreo and chocolate chip cannoli. The cannoli shell is crispy and the cannoli filling is so creamy and filled to the max. There are some tables inside and outside to enjoy your treats. The staff member that assisted me was very friendly and helpful.
I haven't been back in Boston for many years and was pleasantly surprised to find a Mike's pastry in assembly row. I had to stop and get some cannolis and also tried a chocolate roll. It wasn't busy at all, and the cannolis were piped immediately, so the pastry was crispy and delicious. The chocolate roll was way too sweet and disappointing. Unlike the location in the north end, this one was very calm and almost empty on Sunday afternoon and it also took a credit card!
When I think pastry shop I envision a cute cafe to sit and sip some coffee and indulge on a treat. However this pastry shop is just a grab and go situation. Prices seemed average for boston. Tried 2 diff cookies (one sprinkle, one black & white). Disliked both. The sprinkle cookie had no flavor and was dry. The b&w cookie was more like a cake. Not sure how the other desserts are, but don't recommend the cookies.
Not gonna lie. I was like, what's the big deal about a cannoli? But I like trying things I haven't before, and everything I read says to try Mike's Pastry. Knowing it was a touristy thing, I decided to try it anyway. I Door Dashed them. I ordered 3 so I can try a variety: pistachio, hazelnut and espresso. I didn't realize how big they are... After my second attempt, I still won't be able to finish, but then again, I did order 3 lol All three of them were delicious, but I think the espresso was my favorite. I'm a huge fan of cannolis, apparently. Absolutely delicious and creamy on the inside. Stop by Mike's if you get a chance and get a cannoli. You won't regret it!
While Mikes Pastry is known for their cannolis, I did not get the cannoli most recently. Went in just to browse but the cheesecakes caught my attention. They looked amazing so I had to get one, ending up picking the Pecan Caramel Cheesecake. While it's a little pricey, the slice was very generous. For me, I don't prefer my desserts too sweet, and this cheesecake hit the spot! Was flavorful but was not overly too sweet. Could still taste the cream cheese without being overpowered by sugar. Overall, if you'd like to avoid the lines in the North End, take the T for 3 stops to assembly for a crowd free experience of Mike's! I'm already eyeing the Brownie Cheesecake and will treat myself soon!
i stopped in to the famous Mike's Pastry post dinner, and tried their dipped peanut butter cookie. when i tell you it's one of the best cookies i've ever had, it is sooo good! it tastes like a mix of peanut butter and stella doro cookies. i would have been just as happy without the chocolate dip. of course, they have an assortment of amazing desserts on the larger side, from cannolis to lobster tails to cakes and everything in between. everything is delicious. ambiance: 3/5 food: 5/5 service: 4/5 mike's pastry: 4/5
The bakery itself was clean and bright. The workers weren't super friendly, though. I wasn't bothered by it too much but we were visibly confused since it was our first time here. We were expecting to see the cannoli in the display case and there weren't any. We had to ask more questions that we should have to be able to place our order. The cannoli itself were delicious. I wasn't a huge fan of the Nutella - it was just okay & didn't have enough Nutella flavor for my liking. But the peanut butter?! Oh, I would 100% get that again. They're big cannoli - you can have it for yourself or share & be equally satisfied. We took our to- go and brought them home. They should be eaten same day or next day (even that's a little wilty) because the cannoli shell does get soggy. I would come again especially now knowing you just need to order from the menu board & not expect to see the cannoli before ordering. Hopefully the flavor you want is available!
Got this recommendation from a friend and the cannoli was quite delicious! I got the Florentine cannoli and it was really good! Only tried one though so I can't speak on the other flavors or other baked goods they have. Cool little vibe inside! It's cash only tho so keep that in mind!
We heard about this bakery even before coming to Boston and needed to try it out. They have multiple locations, but the one in Assembly Row was the most convenient for us. The Plain Cannoli was light and not too sweet. The Raspberry was also not too sweet and had a healthy serving of raspberry jam. Despite having no customers at that time, the staff wasn't incredibly friendly. Instead of giving us recommendations, they were visibly annoyed that we were trying to figure out which ones we were going to buy. The pastries were good despite the service, so definitely give it a try.
With all the hype we were so glad we drove to Assembly Square to get some shopping done and stop by this famous cannoli chain without having to wait in line. This location at Assembly Square feels new and clean and it seemed like the area was still being developed with new residential buildings. My fiance and I aren't Bostonians but we stayed at the heart of the city for a weekend. We were able to drive to Mike's in 15-20 minutes on a Friday morning. For our first time, we chose two distinct but classy flavors of cannolis - Hazelnut and Florentine. First bite into the hazelnut cannoli we fell in love with the crispy dough, even though it was pre-filled. The filling was just delicious. Florentine was a bit harder to work into because of its caramelized dough but the flavor was still great. The two cannolis with a cup of iced coffee kept us filled for the whole morning and until early afternoon. Just to compare, we had a showdown of cannolis from Modern Pastry Shop and Bova's Bakery. Mike's Pastry was truly the home of the cannolis. We will be back when we are in Boston. read more
Cleaner than the original store in the historic district. Staff all speaks Russian somehow. Got two cannolis pistachio and Nutella. They are both very good. The shell was crunchy even after a couple hours and the cream help up pretty nicely. I like this more than the Boston cream pie. Please don't get the cream pies. They are overrated. read more
Same Canoli's from the same people and at a new location. Mike's at Assembly Row has a good sized selection of canolis and other pastries but doesn't have nearly the crowds and the craziness as they do at the North End location. I got a butter pecan canoli this time. It was extremely sweet. Nicely assembled good filling and the ends dipped in crushed pecans. Yum! read more
We stayed in a nearby hotel and wanted a snack. Mike's was the first place to pop up. We were not disappointed! Thankfully it wasn't busy as we found metered parking right in front Mike's. I'm sure you could park by Trader Joe's and walk. The gentleman greeted us at the door and told us to take our time and let him know when we're ready. My sister and I got a chocolate chip cannoli ($4.50) to split. It was huge! Maybe the size of an iPhone XS, if not bigger. We also got the rainbow champagne cookies, chocolate dipped cookie, and coconut chocolate cookie. Everything was great. I did a little research afterwards and did not know that this is a pretty popular chain. We'll definitely be back! read more
Just as good as the one in the North End, minus the "original location" feel. They have the perk of accepting card versus cash only, with more space and less wait. Can't help but love Mikes! PS. Can you guys please sell T shirts? :) Order: - regular cannoli - rainbow cookies - ricotta pie - Boston cream puff read more

Literally so close to Encore Boston Harbor, I would say 5 mins driving. Right next to the MBTA. We did not wait too long, we ordered a few of their cannolis, tiramisu and blueberry muffin. Everything looked well stocked and service was super friendly. I found the blueberry muffin to be really tasty with a good amount of blueberry chunks. I have had better tiramisu before, it just lacked flavor for me. Cannolis was not too bad, good filling and crunch for the outer layer. Nothing was too sweet. read more
Cheap delicious desserts that you cannot pass up. They offer a large variety of Italian cookies, cannolis of various flavors, cupcakes, cakes, lobster tails (large eclair sort of thing), cheesecake... if I lived near one of these I would be fat read more

I don't know how I've missed this in all of our trips to Assembly! I love this location. It's comparably less hectic and busy. We have been a number of times and the quality is on point. The cannolis are fantastic and the cookies-by-the-pound are a perfect take-away treat. So glad there's another location! read more

So I'm from Seattle and this is my first Cannoli and I was sent to see Mike. You know he is the home of the Cannoli I'm told by his coffee cup. First off they have many colors and flavors to choose from and other goodies for you to enjoy. I first asked about Mikes coffee because if I get one more (I've only had one) cup of water with cream from Dunking Donuts I will die. So mikes coffee is rich and great flavor, as for the Cannoli I picked it was espresso. I'm not a sweets guy but had to order it since I'm here. I thought the inside was whipped cream it's not it's a heavy cream and folks these are NOT finger food you need a fork it's a job to eat. It's not too sweet and Mike has done a great job. I think for me it's not something I would eat at 8am again but after dinner. read more
You can never go wrong with Mike's pastry. It's really well known in Boston and I'm glad they finally opened another location here in assembly. I decided to get some dessert after a long day of shopping and this was the best decision. I've had their cannolis at their other locations, but I'm not a huge fan of them so I opted for their chocolate cake. As soon as I walked in, I had my eyes on it. They have a huge selection to choose from which is always a plus. The chocolate cake was a lot of chocolate hence the name but this could easily be a three person dessert. I shared it with my boyfriend and we both couldn't even finish and we LOVE desserts. I love the fact that this location has tables to sit down at while you can eat and catch up with friends unlike the other location in north end. read more

The cheesecake is fantastic! It sits on yellow cake instead of graham crackers and that makes it unique. I have never had cheesecake like that before and it was great. I have been here multiple times and stop in every time I visit Boston. On my last visit, the cheesecake had no yellow cake bottom. Not sure what changed but the cheesecake was not the same. I was really hope that was a fluke and they get back to making it how I had it the first few times I visited. Happy Hunting Yelpers!!! read more

There is little to no line at this Mike's Pastry, unlike the one in the North End. I got the red velvet cupcake, and the cream puff. The red velvet frosting to cupcake ratio was pretty even, it was a lot of frosting. It was a big cupcake, and it was also really really sweet, sweeter than I prefer. But it was good, I liked it. The cream puff was good as well, and pretty big too. read more
This was my first time trying Mike's Pastry!! I think the lines at the North End location always made me not want to go... which is a good reason because those lines stretch on for miles!! I happened to be in the Assembly area and was craving cannolis. This particular location didn't have a line, phew! It was a weekday around 6:30 PM. The selection of sweets here aren't as big as the location in the North End, but it was still varied! We got the chocolate mousse cannoli, ricotta cannoli, and expresso cannoli. The worker packaged it in their signature rope-tied box expertly and quickly. Our total came out to be $15.50 for four cannolis. The ricotta cannoli was very big in portion!! I didn't really like how chunky the ricotta filling was- I would've preferred it to be smoother, but it was still pretty tasty! They didn't skimp on filling for this one- there was plenty! The chocolate mousse cannoli was my favorite out of the two, though the filling here was skimpy. It consisted of chocolate mousse sandwiched between ricotta filling. The finishing touches? Lots of chocolate chips sprinkled on both ends of the shell and a chocolate drizzle! Yum! There were so many textures happening at once and it made for a unique combination + experience. The shell wasn't as good as the ones we've had at Bova's Bakery in the North End, though. I'm glad I had a chance to experience Mike's Pastry! :- ) read more

I was visiting Boston for a few days and heard about this Bakery and wanted to try it out. Went on a Friday night right before they were closing, and it was still busy. Even though they were about to close they still had an amazing selection. I bought like 15 different things, and they were all amazing. I was also extremely happy with the prices, everything was very reasonable. I would highly recommend Mike's Pastry to everyone, and I can't wait to go back. read more

I love the North End for the atmosphere, but this location has a LOT going for it. Parking is much easier (but no longer free like it used to be a few years ago). They take credit cards, so that's an improvement! There seems to be more selection here (is that even possible?!) and less rush. The interior is nicely modern and it looks like you can even order cake - who wants to brag that they have a Mike's Pastry cake... ("Sorry Aunt Marge that you missed the party- it was a MIKES PASTRY cake!" "Oh dear me...") So, if you're wondering if you should go, just go. I can't imagine you regretting it! And maybe bring some home (in a cute box tied with string) to Aunt Marge while you're at it! read more
Amazing pastry variants. I loved the variety and they are one of the best bakers around. The pastries are fresh and sell out so quickly. Many things to choose from.. just drop in and grab something for a great dessert of the night after your dinner. read more

Holy cannoli! I had heard these were the best around, and they were right! We ordered 4 cannolis because we didn't know how big they would be. It was a lot of food! The place is always crowded, but we discovered that although the line is out the door, service is fairly fast. I like that they have a lot of different flavors to try. This is a place that you need to visit if you're ever in Boston! read more

It is a popular Italian bakery in North End that features awesome cannolis. They have many flavors to choose from. I ordered the amaretto cannoli and it was amazing. It was definitely one of the best cannolis I have ever eaten. I also loved the hazelnut cannoli. The pistachio and oreo flavors were good but the former flavors were better. Besides the cannoli, I have also ordered the Nutella cheesecake. It was average. It was thick and solid unlike the best cheesecakes I have eaten that are smooth, almost like mousse. If you are visiting and planning a trip to Boston and looking for recommendations (especially food), feel free to message me for my itinerary. You can also find the electronic copy through the link my profile. read more

I was super excited to try this location after years of positive experiences with the north end location. Unfortunately, the taste here is much different than the north end location. Both my mom and I had a traditional cannoli with pistachios and a cappuccino. The cannoli shell was greasy and had a strong oil flavor and The ricotta cheese was not as fresh as I remember from the north end location. On a positive note, this location is far less crowded than the north end. We were actually able to sit and enjoy our cannoli in the bakery. I'm hoping this was a one time incident as this location is more convenient and has more parking. read more
I struggled giving four stars to this location because the peanut butter cup ($2.50) was just so awful that, were I to review Mike's on this item alone, it should probably get three stars. And yet three stars wouldn't properly convey how good the other pastries are, like the eclair or the cannoli (both of which my friends loved). So, here we are. All I can say is that you should NOT get the peanut butter cup. It may have been naiveness on my part but I fully expected it taste like a Reese's peanut butter cup... and it didn't. At all. The chocolate was rock hard, and the inside was just peanut butter. The peanut butter and chocolate weren't wed together to form that delicious harmony; it felt like I was eating a bite of chocolate, and then a separate spoonful of peanut butter. Just yuck. On the plus side, the people are nice and they do accept credit card! read more

What exactly is the Florentine Cannoli??? Doesit have spinach and ricotta blended into the pastry shell?
Mikes in Somerville is just pasterys, no bread?
I didn't see any bread when I was there but I thought the pastrys I bought weren't good quality
