Peaches and cream cake !!! Incredible !!!
Janet M.

Best cakes around - for years !!! Loved them in Eastie - got one last week in their new Chelsea location. Unfortunately- I dropped the box - upside down - my daughter cried - I tried to redecorate .... It didn't work !!! So what once was a beautiful cake - I ruined. But guess what ?? It was still absolutely delicious !!!! Our family is in birthday season Feb through May is hopping. Well def be back - fresh sweet and delish

Pastry: pretty good although I expected it to be a bit more buttery

Note: I'm reviewing the pastries only. I purchased two donuts and two swirly pastries. The donuts had a sweet filling which tasted like some sort of sweetened condensed milk paste. It was strange and unexpected but good! The swirly pastry was a little less interesting but not bad. My only complaints are that there were some flies in the store and too close to the pastries for my liking. That and a general gripe with bakeries that don't label their items or prices. My total was $7 for 4 pastries which isn't too bad a deal imo. I would definitely consider coming back again if I get a hankering for sweet non-chocolate goodies.

This was the cake the I wanted made for my boyfriends birthday .This is not a cake from Peaches and Cream.

Bova's Bakery - Pistachio Cannoli

Absolutely amazing…read more The line is LONG no matter when you go but 100% worth it. Inside is all covered in their amazing creations, no seating inside. Service was very quick, we were in and out in about 20-30mins despite the like being down the block. I prefer this cannoli over Mike's for sure. I still need to try Modern.

Bova's Bakery was highly recommended to me to come here by a local for their baked goods and…read morecannolis. Over two visits (the first time I came by myself and the second time, my husband wanted to come), I ended up purchasing: Original Cannoli, Large Lobster Tail, Pistachio Cannoli, Boston Cream Donut, Tiramisu. To be honest the cannolis here are not good. Because they are prefilled, the shell becomes soggy, which is rather disappointing. Cannolis are best filled right before eating but I can understand why Bova's Bakery fills them ahead of time.... to cut down on the time waiting and making it easier for customers to get in and out. The lobster tail was okay but I didn't find it to be anything really special. I felt the same way about the Boston cream donut. Of the things that we purchased, I liked the tiramisu the best. Please note that they do take credit card but you are charged a small credit card fee, which was not disclosed to me when I paid. I just noticed the charge on the receipt the first time I came and then paid cash on the second visit. Service was friendly from both employees helping me on both visits. With the exception of an elderly woman who seemed rude. I think she may have been the owner or family. I don't know if Bova's Bakery is worth the hype... If I was to come back, it would just be for the tiramisu.

It can get pretty fast-paced in there between ordering and checking out, and I completely understand that human error happens. That said, on my most recent visit, my total was almost $30 more than it should have been. When I questioned it, the woman at the counter smiled quickly and said, "Oh, I did the wrong math," and corrected it. I'd like to think it wasn't intentional..but to avoid just add as you go! We stopped by and were greeted by a nice generous line down the block, despite the line being super long it moved along fairly quickly. Once we were able to make it inside we were shocked by how many pastries there were to select from, but we wanted to stay on task with the main thing we came for.. The Cannolis. We ended up building our own 3 Cannolis, we went with one the traditional way, topped with some chocolate chips at the end, the 2nd one we did a chocolate dipped shell with a vanilla custard filling, and for the 3rd one we did a chocolate dipped shell with vanilla custard and topped with pistachio. The cannolis were so delicious and amazing and very much worth the wait. I also decided to get myself a triple chocolate cake to try and it was so rich and creamy and everything I'd ever want in an ideal chocolate cake! 10/10 I loved it!

Prices are pretty normal compared to other ice cream shops I've been to. I got a scoop of taro and a scoop of birthday cake. The texture of the ice cream is not too hard and not too soft. Honestly the best texture ice cream can have. The taro had a nice natural flavor, not overbearing at all. The birthday cake was good too, but the big chunks of frosting threw me off. Otherwise, I can see why they have very long lines.

The decor suggested a rather old-fashioned ice cream shop. Taro: A bit of a surprise. For an American/Italian ice cream shop, the most highly rated flavor online was taro, but after one bite, I felt it truly deserved its reputation. The ice cream was smooth and delicate, with a naturally rich taro flavor, and not too sweet. Matcha: A very standard matcha flavor from an American ice cream shop. Not too sweet, the matcha flavor was pure, but nothing particularly special. A safe choice for Chinese palates. Coconut Thai Tea: First time trying this, and quite an interesting flavor. The sweetness of coconut milk is the top note, followed by the bitter aroma of Thai milk tea. Bourbon Maple Pecan: The initial taste was the sweetness of maple syrup, followed by the nutty and slightly salty aroma of pecans. It's quite good, but a little on the sweet side.
