These cupcakes are amazing and they have Gluten free options as well. Definitely will order again.

Delicious cupcakes We tried lemon, peanut butter, Oreo, chocolate overload, vanilla and banana caramel.

So excited to find a place with vegan cupcakes! I'm vegan and my boyfriend is not so it's nice to find a local place with options for us both. Vegan cupcakes in the case every Friday, or you can pre order them for any day. The vanilla was amazingly incredible (saving the chocolate and biscoff for later!). read more

We were bopping around SoWa yesterday and found their truck. While the kids were "full", I could not pass by a possible good cupcake experience. Usually I would get a few and split with my companion(s), but since no one else wanted any I just got the one -- Hot Fudge Sundae. The chocolate cake was moist and very rich. I like the vanilla frosting with the cherry on top too. The truck guy gave us a bonus cupcake for free -- salted caramel -- because it got crushed and was not "presentable". Same chocolate cake so yumminess and a salted frosting. The frosting is interesting because I missed the cake at first so it was a bit salty BUT when you get the cake at the same time it works. Good solid cupcake experience! read more

The Chocolate PB and Hostess are my favorite - very moist with a choc filling. The lemon is also very good. The strawberry shortcake is dry and crumbly (like shortcake) and not filled with sufficient strawberry filling - hard pass on that one. Stop by, you won't regret it!! read more

Take out a loan to buy these cupcakes. Are they good? Yes. Are they worth almost $4 each. Nope!

Sweetness is one thing to look for in a cupcake. But, when you're greeted by the co-owner with a sunny smile, it truly brightens your dreary day. John exemplifies a true, great small business owner. He is humble, endearing, welcoming and takes pride in his products. Every cupcake made is of the finest ingredients, zero preservatives and is baked daily on site! Their signature cupcake is the Chocolate Sundae. (I should have taken a picture before biting into it. Too late, now.) They offer gluten-free/cupcake of the day, maple bacon cupcakes, caramel salted cupcakes, lemon cupcakes... all of which are meticulously decorated. The shop is adorable, and it matches John's personality. Clean, and deliciously sophisticated. The sugary smell wafts in the air in a hypnotic fashion. It was a pleasure to take a few minutes to talk to him and learn about his shop that had been opened for 17 months, his objectives and his love of desserts and for his nine grand children. My heart had melted when he helped a man orchestrate an engagement proposal to his girlfriend, written in cupcakes. How can't I say I won't be back? This is the go to local baker. I'm already thinking of bringing an entourage for my next visit! And, if anyone is reading this, my cupcake just vanished. Please send another cupcake my way! read more

I love the cupcakes here!! So delicious. They do custom cupcakes as well as their regulars. Each season they offer a different set of "special cupcakes". Pumpkin for the fall (yummy!!!) and light lemon cupcakes and such for the spring. They offer hostess (our favorite, hubby loves them!!), salted caramel, peanut butter, Oreo, lemon, Twinkie, regular vanilla and chocolate as well as their seasonal cupcakes. As I said, they also offer custom cupcakes. We have done BRENDA (on a few cupcakes) for my moms 60th, had customized Red Sox cupcakes for my dads job and all the broadcasters at WEEI & delicious and beautiful quilted top cupcakes for a party my mom held this spring. The talent and taste are AMAZING!! And they're a family business. What could be better?? Check them out :) read more

Fantastic selection of cupcakes! We were there closer to closing time on Sunday and they still had a great assortment. Blueberry pancake cupcake was inspired and so good. Just tasted beautiful. We got six to go including a salted pretzel and peanut butter cupcake that melted in your mouth. I can't believe I've never been there before - I might have a new cupcake addiction. Prices are great for the quality. They even gave us a free water which was nice. Can't wait to go back and see what they have. read more

I am in love... Seriously this is a bad thing that Cupcake City is so close to my house. I have had the Hostess, the Red Velvet and the Vanilla with vanilla frosting and I honestly can't say which one is my favorite, I love them all the same. Got a bunch for my daughter's birthday party and they were a hit. I was able to special order them in pretty colors with flower fondant and they were perfect. They are pricey, but most cupcake specialty stores I have gone to tend to be. And this is a good thing, because I'd be at the store everyday if they were less expensive. I consider them a treat once in a while and that is exactly what they are...a treat. Now, excuse me, I think I'm in need of a treat, right now! read more

Diverse and delicious cupcake flavors here at Cupcake City. We found them on Yelp and wanted to pick up a dozen for a birthday party. We sliced up the cupcakes so we could all try different flavors, and that was fun aplenty. While we all found the Oreo cupcake to be disappointingly dry, we give the benefit of the doubt that it was an off batch, because the other cupcakes were adequately moist. Favorites were lemon, chocolate peanut butter, mint choc chip, creamsicle, pb&j (!!!) and raspberry lime rickey (!!!!!!). The salted caramel was moist chocolate cake with creamy frosting and caramel drizzle, but really did not have enough flavor in any way - not enough chocolate or caramel, rather plain. The choc covered pretzel topper was delish but not sure if those are made on site ir if they're purchased like the Mini-Oreo topper. The price is on par with some Boston bakeries at nearly $3 per cupcake; we stumbled in on a Sunday $30/dozen special. All in all, we were very pleased with the variety and quality of these cupcakes and would definitely visit again. read more

The cupcakes here are perfection! I bought a dozen home to do a pretend "cake tasting" with my fiancé (we had to cancel our wedding this year). They were all so delicious... they also look beautiful. So professionally done. Since my first visit I've been back to grab 1 or 2 for the weekend as a special treat. Follow them on Facebook to be updated on which flavors they have available on the daily. I will update this review once I remember take a picture before eating my next cupcake. read more

I have always had the best cupcakes at Cupcake City in Reading, MA until today. $44.00 for a dozen and the coconut were stale and the hostess had very little cream on the inside. Not a good experience, especially when bringing them to an event and I just bought them right before I went, but they were stale. read more

Wow this place is fantastic. Ordered 6 cupcakes for a birthday and noted in the online order that it was for the occasion, and they included toothpick decorations that said happy birthday on top! The minute I walked in to pick up my order, I knew I *needed* an additional single cupcake that I would not be sharing. Went with Oreo..to die for. It tasted so fresh and not overly sweet frosting, like some cakes can be. I was glad to read that they do not use preservatives either. I will certainly be back to order for more occasions in the future. Or maybe just for my own Oreo cupcake again :) read more

I had been looking around to find some quality cupcakes for my sister-in-law's baby shower. I e-mailed a few nearby businesses and Cupcake City responded promptly to my inquiry. We discussed colors, pricing, and modifications, and it was absolutely seamless! My husband was able to pick up the cupcakes the morning of the shower and everybody LOVED them! The professionalism, the kindness and the speed to which Cupcake City executes their business is brilliant. Thank you all for such FABULOUS desserts - they were an absolute hit and we will definitely be back for our next function! Thanks again! :) read more

The CupCake City truck came to my office in Dedham. I have celiac disease so I asked the driver, Larry, if he had any gluten free cupcakes, but he didn't (they have to be ordered ahead). Much to my surprise and delight, he came back the next day with gluten free cupcakes for me!!! Larry and Cupcake City went above and beyond and I will never forget what they did. The worst, $3.75 each, tiny cupcake very little cake. Huge globs of very sweet frosting.

We hired Cupcake City to handle the dessert for our wedding and we couldn't have been more pleased. The entire process from start to finish was smooth. Karin and her team were responsive and communicative. They took the time to meet with us for a consultation to review options and taste flavors and made everything so easy. The delivery to the venue on the day of the event was handled without issue and the cupcakes themselves were amazing! We chose the Salted Caramel, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Carrot Cake, and Key Lime Pie. Each was delicious in it's own right and our guests raved about them. Overall Cupcake City provided exactly what we wanted and then some. Thank you!! read more

If I could add another 5 stars I would!!! AMAZING! Being in the hotel industry, we go above and beyond every day for our guests. The problem is that it is sooo hard to find GREAT customer service, let alone GOOD customer service. I had a last minute site inspection with a HUGE client, I called the ladies at Cupcake City to see if they could get me logo personalized cupcakes that SAME AFTERNOON.... (I did call one other place in Newton first, who refused to even talk to me same day) Cupcake City made it happen. They faced obstacles with the fondant, but they overcame them. I emailed them the logos, and they made it happen. Then I became a pest, called them back and asked for an 4 more cupcakes, and to have them boxed in twos. They did it without hesitation! I called them at 12PM and they had them to the hotel, as promised by 4PM. Not to mention the delivery driver was so sweet in making sure he didn't speed because he didn't want the quickly made fondant to get disrupted. Receiving this kind of customer service is RARE, and they went above and beyond for this crazy, stressed out sales person so that they could have that WOW factor their arriving potential clients. And they were so impressed and they said the cupcakes were amazing!! I cant thank them enough! AS far as I am concerned, there are no other cupcake places around! THANK YOU!!! read more

The cupcakes are ok I gave them 2 stars because honestly these cupcakes taste like any other cupcake you could get somewhere else like a regular bakery or a Whole Foods nothing special they look pretty but there average at best. My kids thought the frosting was too hard the adults didn't mind the frosting but were not crazy about it . I'm just insulted that I paid $3 a cupcake and went out of my way for something so average and underwhelming. I don't mind paying even $5 per cupcake as long as it's really amazing which these were not. I don't know why it has such high reviews maybe loyal costumers that just love one of the flavors this place carries or people just love the idea of going to a cupcake only store to buy there cupcakes not sure what it is but the place sucks won't be back and won't tell anyone about it except to say it sucks. -There Twinkie flavored cupcake does not taste like a Twinkie it taste like a plain old vanilla cupcake that they named Twinkie. The girl that helped me was incredibly sweet and nice. The store was small but extremely clean and cute very modern space. Very basic plain everyday cupcakes with cutesy names and sprinkles on top and that's what your getting over charge for read more

This place is better than most of the cupcake shops in the city and it makes me happy that it's only a town over from me! I don't go here a ton, but whenever I need a high quality dessert to bring or something unique I make a stop here. Ate the Red Velvet the next day. The frosting was great, the red velvet...it was good, but in my opinion I've made red velvet at home that tasted better to me. I feel like it didn't have quite enough cocoa flavor to it and it was a bright red. I'm used to my red velvet being a little darker, which makes me wonder how much cocoa is used in their version. Its not enough to make me change the rating though. Just a personal preference. This place is still awesome. read more

If you're looking for a great cupcake, look no further. There are a lot of different places selling just cupcakes and Cupcake City is as good ass it gets. They even have vegan options on Fridays and that was a life saver for my daughter in law when her newborn had a food allergy. I love the salted caramel and a few of the staples but they also make other flavors as the seasons change. I highly recommend this place. They're great to pick up and take home or to bring to a get together. read more

Yes, they are good, but...the cake part is too small and the frosting overwhelms it. Also, the chocolate frosting consistency is more like a block of fudge on top of the cake. Maybe go again if I was really dying for a cupcake, but it was nice to try it considering the publicity. read more

If you want fresh cupcakes with a homemade taste THIS is the place to go. Cupcake City started out a few years ago (2011) in Reading, out of a small shop on Main Street. They still operate here from that small shop plus have a cupcake truck, catering and more. Every single cupcake I have had from here has been awesome! They are always fresh, with a great texture and not overly sweet. The frosting is real buttercream, not that artificial "cream" you might get on baked goods from other shops. Cupcake City offers the REAL DEAL in their ingredients. Cupcake City always has certain varieties available such as their Signature Chocolate, Lemon and Red Velvet. They also have seasonal and specialty flavors. Descriptions of the flavors are on their website. On my visit today I selected 6 cupcakes: Signature Chocolate, Cranberry Orange, Nutter Butter (New), Lemon, Carrot Cake and Oreo. Price was $18 for 6 cupcakes. Not a bad deal for such a quality product. I also got one of their new Cake Shots in Salted Caramel. It's a small cake and frosting for "just a taste" or a extra treat. Cake Shots are $1.99 each. The staff here are terrific, friendly and helpful. They really enjoy their customers and working there. When you see the big pink "Cupcake City Open" flag out on Main Street, stop on by. Parking is very convenient, right outside the door. read more

Cupcake City is Outstanding! They have really done cupcakes right. they have a long assortment of flavors like Peanut Butter, Lemon, Smores, and Hostess. That is only just listing a few. They really taste great. They are beaked just right, not too sweat but full of rich flavor! I am so thrilled to have them close by in Reading, MA. They are such an amazing treat to indulge for yourself or even better to bring a a dessert to a friends house. They also host events and have a mobile cupcake bar. Cupcake City can hold its own with any of the other competition in the city for sure. Excellent and a must try if your in the area. i highly recommend it! read more

Such a good job! I ordered custom vegan cupcakes with design in two flavors and they came out perfect. For my birthday I wanted some cupcakes, and I had never been to cupcake city so I decided to give it a try. I bought 6 cupcakes: red velvet, carrot cake, twiX, sundae, Oreo and lemon/blueberry. What a great surprise of a find in Reading! By now I have visited Cupcake city 5 times and tried maybe 9 different flavors. Here's my little contribution: PROS: Delicious! The most important reason to go there is for the taste. The cake part itself is well made and the icings and other sweet enhancers are impeccable. Each type I tried over the past few months has been just right. Its well packaged, good size (not your typical "American Mega Value Size" item), well priced and simply delicious. This is definitely par (and even higher) to many fancy cupcake boutiques in NYC and Boston. CONS: Small variety. I would like to see more choices if possible. I think they are limited by the size of the store and the place feels more like a order / pickup style store with a little sales counter. Tiny bakery feels very blend and forgetful. I believe having a nice bakery adds a lot to the overall presentation and memory. Overall, I would highly recommend checking it out. You won't regret the sweet sweet taste. Love it! read more

We recently used Cupcake City for our wedding and they really delivered!! Their prices are very fair, they delivered the day of and set up on what we had laid out for them, and most importantly they tasted delicious!! Very expensive, small cupcakes. $33 per dozen, in fact. Ordinarily I wouldn't mind paying $2.75 for a cupcake if it wasn't miniscule like the ones from Cupcake City. I went there when they first opened and bought a few to try. I brought them home to my family where they received mixed reviews. The non-filled cupcakes were a bit dry and the filled ones were a bit too sweet. I figured I wouldn't go back but then I received a gift certificate from a co-worker for Christmas. Now I've decided that the only cupcakes from Cupcake City I'll get are free ones. read more
