I…read morecalled him on a Thursday morning asking if he could do a dozen lemon cupcakes for my son's first birthday and have them ready by Saturday - a real last minute order. He said he wouldn't have time to add custom decorations, but I had an idea and had him frost 11 in green and 1 in red. When I picked them up on Saturday, he added two cookies to the box. I also ordered a meat pie and a kofta wrap and while I was waiting, he gave me two pieces of warm baklava, fresh from the oven! Absolutely delicious. When everything was ready, he carried it out to my car for me, since I had the stroller. He's such a kind man. And oh my gosh... possibly the best cupcakes I've ever had. The frosting was light and more buttery than sweet. I usually take the frosting off of cupcakes but I didn't this time because it was just too good. The lemon curd center was tangy and just the right level of sweetness. I will return to Michael's for every birthday/anniversary/party from now on. Oh and that meat pie is going to live in my brain forever. So aromatic and delicious... I got it for my husband but had eaten half of it by the time I got home. Whoops!

She made me feel as though nothing mattered more than making my niece happy--true old-school customer service. We discussed several options, and then Keri joined us: the Picasso of cupcake baking and design. She was tremendous, and watching her sketch and talk through ideas was incredible. It is a wonderful bakery of bundt cakes. Why can't they have more than one kind of frosting? I'm not asking for a frosting bar (although far be it from me to be the one to discourage that kind of thinking), but cream cheese frosting is a very specific flavor and not everybody likes it. Buttercream seems like a pretty easy, and the odds of someone liking it if they do not like cream cheese frosting are pretty good. When I asked about an alternative the staff was very nice about it, I just could not hide my surprise.
