2 piece cod platter with fries, slaw, dinner roll
    Tony T.

Occasionally, I want to get a fish sandwich from a fast food restaurant without waiting for certain times of the year. After watching a YouTube video about comparing various fast food fish sandwiches, the top one was Culver's. I figured I'd have to try it as I didn't realize they had fish on the menu. They actually have a cod fish sandwich all year around and a walleye sandwich that is more seasonal. The first time I tried their fish, I had the cod sandwich. Wow, I was very impressed. They don't overly process their fish. You get a piece of a filet, not ground-up fish. The fish was very flaky. The breading was nice and crunchy. There was a good breading to fish ratio, where the fish exceeds the amount of breading by a large amount (I like that!). The size of the piece of fish was large. The only thing I would ask for is a little more salt on the fish (thought I'd NEVER say that about a fish sandwich!). Cod itself does not have a lot of flavor to me, so I think a bit more salt could have brought out more of the flavor the fish had. Not to worry though, you can get lemon slices if you like. The buttered bread/bun had a nice texture, not dry, but it is thick. They toasted it on one side so you got a bit of caramelization. It also came with shredded cheddar cheese, tartar sauce and shredded lettuce. The tartar sauce was pretty much standard in quality as other places, the lettuce was green, nice and crisp on my sandwich. The cheese was a bit underwhelming though in texture, which was a bit waxy, without much flavor. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the sandwich. To me, it's still miles better than any other fast food sandwich I've had. I forgot, I also had the onion rings. They were lightly battered and seasoned, I enjoyed them. On another occasion I tried the walleye sandwich. The preparation of the sandwich was the same as the cod sandwich except they used walleye instead of cod. Walleye has more flavor than cod and it definitely came out in the sandwich. If you like walleye, as I do, then you may want to choose that sandwich over the cod when they offer it. They also offer cod platters, with 1, 2 or 3 pieces of fish. You get a choice 2 sides and a dinner roll. I had one of the 3 piece platters and it was a LOT of food. The cost was $17, but for the amount and quality of the meal, to me it was worth it. Plus, I don't believe other fast food places offer seafood platters, at least around here. Overall, I would say if you want a fish sandwich or platter and are ok with going to a fast food restaurant, I say Culver's is the place I would go to.

In another state I used to live within walking distance of a Culver's. I just got a new car so I figured I'd drive it about 80 minutes to this one to try out the car. I probably won't do that again. Culver's is quite nice but maybe not going so far out of your way for!

Culver's seemed to have struggled for a bit and now they are one of our favorite weekend lunch runs. The shrimp meal is absolutely delicious, as well as the fried fish. For a Planck known for burgers, they do seafood so well! Order in the app, park in curbside and you're on your way to yummy food. The pretzel bites are very good, too. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely recommend!

I was visiting a friend in NC & had to stop in as there are not any Culver's in Virginia! The cheese curds are the best item in the menu! This one operated differently than I was used to. You place your order at the drive thru counter, then you pay, they give you your drink and a number. Then you drive around to the other side of the building where they bring your food out to you & take the number placard. My order was correct & fresh!

Ordered the cod meal via uber eats and was sent two hard, overcooked unbreaded pieces of (I guess) fish. Oh and they also gave me a handful of fries. Because I don't live far I took it back and the supervisor(I assume) asked the cashier "what's wrong with it?"before even looking at it. Had he opened the box he would've seen that mess. So they "refire" it and it still looked bad but at least they edible. I absolutely love Culver's but I don't think I'll return after this.

    Curderburger is back!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Culver's has the best fast food burgers in the state. Then came the curderburger. It is more than just a big cheese curd placed on your burger. No, this fried cheese patty is much larger than the burger itself. And the cheese just oozes out of every bite, it's really something to behold. I have yet to find a restaurant in North Carolina with juicy Lucy burgers on the menu, so I think this might be the closest you can get to that kind of flavor sensation. The employees are always fast and friendly. I'm actually amazed that people eat at places like McDonald's when Culver's exists.

We visited for the first time on 8/12/20. We looked at the menu ahead of time, so we knew exactly what we wanted. My son got a custard with his kids meal & absolutely loved all of his food. Yayyyy!!! I didn't like the fries so much, but the service was excellent. So, I'm giving them 5 stars. I haven't gotten service like this in quite some time. The food was fresh. That means so much to me. I will definitely be back.

The two of us eat at Over the Falls regularly and always enjoy it. I'm honestly surprised I hadn't written a review before. Lunch for two came to $65.80 + tax and tip, and there was more than enough food. I ordered one of my two favorites: the Ahi Tuna Pita (the other favorite is the blue cheese burger). I paired it with a side salad and blue cheese dressing, plus an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. My wife ordered The Barrel, their Philly cheesesteak, with a side of sweet potato fries. We also shared an order of house-made potato skins. It was far too much food, in a good way, and we took plenty home. Service was outstanding and truly a team effort. One moment stood out: when my wife hesitated to ask for sour cream for the potato skins, our server immediately said, "It's just 15 steps, let me get it for you." That small gesture made a big difference. The rest of the team was equally warm, friendly, and attentive. The ambiance works perfectly for us, lively, busy, and welcoming without feeling chaotic. I would be confident ordering virtually anything from the menu. We'll keep coming back.

My motto is simple: if you can't see the smoker and smell the smoke, the BBQ is going to be bad. This place is no different. My family ordered the pork belly burnt ends, pork ribs, chicken Philly, and smoked mac and cheese. Let's start easy--the mac and cheese. My grandparents used more salt and pepper in their mac and cheese than this place did. The only ingredients seemed to be noodles and cheese. What happened to flavor? Spices? Maybe some paprika, cayenne pepper... jeez, something. However, as a bit of a warning sign, the mac and cheese had more wood smoke flavor than anything else they served. Next, the ribs. Some people believe in the 3-2-1 method--I'm not a fan, but it can work. These people must believe in the 1-2-3 method: 1 hour smoked on a Traeger, 2 hours wrapped, and 3 hours cooked on high heat in the oven uncovered. That's the only way I can figure out how you end up with jerky-dry ribs. Not only were they dry, they didn't have any flavor. The chicken Philly was dry--my wife hated it. The pork belly burnt ends actually looked great--nice cube size, good presentation--but biting into them was a different story. Chewy, bland, and dry. I honestly don't know how you manage to do that with pork belly. Really disappointing experience overall.

Then it seemed like you needed to scream to hear a conversation. They also have trivia nights, so that likely isn't as loud. I ordered the Wagyu Burger, and it was cooked to order and delicious. The mashed potatoes for the side were lukewarm and rather dry and bland. The way they were presented at the table made it seem as if they were meant to go with something, like butter or gravy. I would not recommend the mashed potatoes, but the burger was delicious. The sweet potato fries, another had as a side, looked good, as did a salad. Service seemed good at first with the drink and food orders. But once the food was brought out, I don't think we saw the waitress again until it was time for the checks.
