She then walked back to our table with me to inspect the receipt and my family's food for herself. I've never in my life had to prove that a restaurant made an error on my order in order to get it corrected. I was polite and even smiled when I took the receipt and the wrong order back to the counter and asked for a correction. The person who responded instantly made me a suspect. I guess, I forgot what part of the South I was in. The correct sandwich did eventually arrive, but by that point the experience had already soured the meal entirely.
