3 years later and this is still our favorite restaurant in Wake Forest. The recipes have never changed and the staff are still amazing as ever. We have been here twice in the past two weeks to say our goodbyes to friends as we are moving out of state. We will truly miss Norse Brewery. You really cannot go wrong with anything you order. Our favorite dish is, of course, the Viking Burger paired with duck fat fries and the Frikadellar to share. The Mango Hefeweizen and mango margaritas are delicious drinks as well. Whether you sit inside or out, you will feel cozy and relaxed while you eat delicious food! read more

Buddy... if you think that dinner service is bad... wait til you've had their "brunch." And by "brunch" I mean, "we are out of literally almost everything that comes with the most basic egg or waffle thingie" and the staff is even more unenthusiastic, slow, and unattentive. We took my aunt here. That lady will never say a negative thing about anyone and anything. Even she was blown away by how awful this choice was... Never again Norse Brewing Co. I hope those terrible cover bands on the weekends bring in enough rubes to keep you afloat, because the food, drink, and service is... so bad. read more

First visit. Czech style Pilsner was good...could have been a bit more hops/different hops. I tried their noted Wagyu/Elk/Boar burger. Huge, not disappointing. I prefer mine more well done...but wild game should not be over cooked. Service was friendly. Yes I would recommend. read more

Big fan of Norse! It has a "neighborhood bar" sort of feel but the food & speciality drinks are elevated for your typical bar. The Brussel sprouts will convert you! Great indoor & outdoor seating options & they offer "things to do" like painting nights & trivia nights. Check them out! read more

Good draft beers Hamburger devoid of any juices, pretty bland Duck Fries, not sure of the appeal for these versus regular fries. served barely warm, nothing special. Service ok, although did not check back after receiving our food. No reason to go back read more

Can't complain about a place like this! We stopped in yesterday and the food is still amazing. Beer cheese tots, meatloaf and a wedge salad. Lots of mixed drink options and can make your own. The cold brew martini was delicious! The waitress we had this time seemed to not know the menu and I cannot think of her name but she was very attentive to us and came back with answers to our questions. Can't wait to go back! read more

We ate here about 3 years ago - before we moved here - and it was outside behind the eatery, with tables under a shaded area - food was awesome then, and we're happy to be back dining here as WF residents! The Norwegian-inspired menu is full of hearty and flavorful items. Our opener of Loaded Beer-Cheese Tots paired with a couple of co-owner/Brewmaster Brad Wynn's brewed on-site beers was heavenly. You MUST sample several of his creations, and take a moment to see the incredible brewery that is a huge part of the experience - his wife Lynn gave us a quick and amazing tour of the brewery, see pics. I had the Viking Burger, a carnivorian delight made from elk, bison, boar and wagyu meats and a half Norwegian salad that had us swooning with pleasure - a full salad would be a satisfying main vegetarian entree. Paul's Wisconsin Brat was so good, gonna hafta to have that during our next visit. The award-winning structure is a joy - 2 levels, dog-welcoming al fresco dining available front and back - and the downstairs bar where regular events occur - just amazing! Regular events include Thursday Night Trivia, as well as stand-up comedy and murder mystery nights. An ongoing calendar of events that are easy on the pocket, making a full night of food and fun for all. Check their website - wakeforest.norsebrewingco.com - for all the details. Another downtown Wake Forest must for locals and travelers alike - Paul and I will be regulars, I can tell you that! Check it out some weeknight, you'll be glad you did‼ read more

The beer is pretty good. The food is good but super expensive. I like to go and eat out on the back deck. The service can be hit or miss. But overall I like it, I just wished they would have a wider menu. Pizza would be a good option with the history of the place. read more

The pimento burger and Viking burger are incredible. Beer is great, I ordered a whiskey sour which was good but nothing special, it is a brewery after all. Our server was funny and attentive. The interior is what you would expect of a pub, music is loud. Would go back! read more

The service was GREAT. Very attentive and patient with our party of 10 and 4 children! The food was good... I didn't hear any complaints. I had the regular burger and was delicious. The fries delicious. The Mussels delicious. The Brussels Sprouts not so much. They were mushy on the outside and hard on the inside. I only ate 2. I'll try a salad next time. read more

The food and beer were good. I was pleasantly surprised with the food and the buns! The vibes were cool with plenty of different space inside for live music or down below chill vibes. The service on a Saturday night was a bit stretched. We waited forever for food! And we were starving, which didn't help the situation. Cool place to try. read more

Awesome place for a large group, and the food is as good as the beer looks (I'm part of the Anti Social Sober Club, sorry. No reviews of the brew). Avocado on sourdough was filling, even for a guy who loves meat. Definitely upgrade your fries to include the duck fat; so damn good I may start raising ducks to try to make my own fries. The boy liked his hot dog, but that bar is pretty low. Don't miss this spot if you're looking to eat and maybe grab an adult beverage in old downtown Wake Forest. read more

Norse is a nice little bar with plenty of character. Different beers on tap some change here and there. While sitting at the bar you can see where they brew the beer. The food is amazing! I had the Viking burger- it was cooked really rare like I asked it had a mixture of bison, elk, wagyu and boar together which made it tender juicy and delicious. It came with a side of sweet potato chips, they were good. I also got to taste my husband's food which was Elk sausage it was tasty , the mustard they put on it was really good. My husband didn't like any of the sides offered and got their duck fat fries which we all tried and they were odd (we didn't eat them) Bathroom was clean service was good and fast. read more

Norse Brewing is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. They have a great variety of freshly brewed beers and ciders, and everything on the menu will knock your socks off. I especially recommend the Viking Burger, made with bison, boar, waygu, and elk. The sweetness of the caramelized onions and tomato jam really cuts the richness of the blue cheese sauce. This is the best burger I've had in a very long time! read more

I tried Norse the week they opened a few years ago, but am only reviewing this visit where I got a beer flight (no food). As someone who regularly tries higher quality beer from across the country, I can say this was very average. The "nitro" stout didn't feel like it at all...those should have a creamier consistency and what I got was not it. The amber lacked good flavor. If you're wanting somewhere to hang out in WF, this would be fine. The food may be more their gig than brewing beer. read more

Too busy. We should have just left. The servers were trying their best but it seems like the kitchen needs help. It probably took every bit of 75 min to get our food Servers did their best to accommodate us with a French fry appetizer and drinks but it was a long wait The place is super noisy .... Would have preferred to eat outside but the food was good I had a BLT that was delish. The duck fat fries were not the best. They were shoe string fries and cooked a bit too long so they were dry Would give it another shot on a less busy evening read more

I was a fan of Norse until the past year or so. Prices have increased significantly (more than inflation) and the portions are shrinking. I fully understand that food is expensive, but when you pay $18 for a burger, you'd expect a full tomato slice and a full leaf of lettuce. It just isn't worth the price for what you get. Service at the bar has always been good but at tables, it's hit or miss. read more

First time visiting Norse Brewing. It's in a convenient location in downtown Wake Forest. The atmosphere is really laid back. Ample indoor seating with outdoor seating too - dogs allowed on the patio. The bar service was good; kitchen staff were slow. I had a BLT, pasta salad, and a cherry sour ale; very good. My husband had a Viking burger, fries, and a Hazy IPA. He asked for his burger to be cooked medium-well but it was well-done, had a strong charcoal taste, and the fries were cold. The patrons sitting next to use sent an item back saying it was cold. Maybe they were short staffed? Wish I could give more stars. read more

Sat in the back patio during lunch and had a great experience. We brought our 6lbs Yorkie and they had water bowls ready for her! We ordered the Viking burger and the salmon burger. It was pretty okay to be honest, I had a lot of people recommend this place and their burger so I had high expectations. Personally, I don't think it was anything exceptional. If you live by locally and looking for a convenience spot to come and hang out and have a drink, it's a nice ambiance but I wouldn't Go out of my way to come here. I would say the best and most flavored thing I had here was the the dill lemon aioli on the salmon burger, everything else is pretty mids. Nice random touch, it had these marine biodegradable compostable straws, they don't see that off in a restaurant so that's a big bonus in my mind! read more

Friendly staff and great atmosphere! Food was good and there's a lot of variety. We will be back!

When visiting a friend in the Wake Forest area, we decided to stop into Norse Brewing for a quick lunch. Since we could not decide on what to order, we shared a few items so we could try more things. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, the beet salad, the Viking burger with truffle fries. Everything was really tasty!! If you are willing and able to share food, I would highly recommend ordering a few things for the table... Hopefully you won't regret it! read more

Food is good, the waitress unfortunately seems to be the only one working on the group project. It's currently not busy at all for a Saturday night at 745p. We got here at a little after 7 and my wife and I have been able to order 1 cocktail each. I ordered a beer at about 730 and when the bartender/hostess finally came out from the back where the beer is brewed she found time to pour my beer. We did notice that she had looked over numerous times but continued to braid the hair of another girl. The food is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, just don't expect prompt service, or at least not tonight. read more

I returned to Norse Brewing for brunch. I wish they took reservations as we had almost an hour wait. But it is a busy place and had live music and an artist painting as well. So that made it fun. I'm not sure if they offer that every Sunday or if it is an occasional treat. It was loud from other tables so it was hard to have a conversation at the table. I didn't go with any of the brunch options as the Viking Burger caught my eye. It was a blend of bison; elk; boar and wagyu. I made a good decision as it was so very good. It came with fries as well. I liked that there was a handheld machine to process payments at the table as it was so quick and easy. I will be back to try some of the other menu items although it will be difficult not to order the Viking Burger again as it was that good. read more

TLDR: Neat Viking themed brewery with efficient customer service, delicious entrees, and strong beers. After viewing the mouth-watering menu online, we decided to stop here for a beer flight and a late lunch. Parking is available around the side of the restaurant. Stop at the hostess stand to be seated at an indoor or outdoor table or sit at the indoor bar. We chose a few seats at the bar. Immediately the efficient bartender greeted us and informed us of the QR code menu. They also have paper menus per request. We requested a paper menu and chose beer flights, elk sausage with duck fat fries, and a Viking burger with sweet potato chips. In the beer flight, we liked the brown ale and wit the best. Although the beer was enjoyable, the food was the star. The elk sausage was delicious and it was paired with an amazing spicy mustard. We wanted to purchase some mustard to go and were informed that it is available online and made in Asheville! The Viking burger similarly was flavorful and surprisingly juicy. The duck fat fries were fatty, but oh so tasty and seasoned well. The sweet potato chips are crisp and salty. Our orders were accurate and the bartender was incredibly attentive. Overall, we had a great visit and recommend this restaurant to others! read more

Norse brewing company prides itself on its three pillars of Beer, Food, and Family, all of which were exemplified during our visit. Their food is a unique mix of American/Scandinavian flavors, their dining area feels reminiscent of the Great Hall of Valhalla, and their brewing process is an art in itself. We were able to sample a few of their beers on the tour including: -Phat Thor stout (ABV 5.9%, Flavor profile included chocolate, coffee, and caramel) -Stratalounger IPA (ABV 5.3%, very light and refreshing with tropical citrus notes) -Tettenhall Cranberry cider (ABV 6.5%, flavor profile was crisp, juicy red fruit, and cranberries, my buddy's 'favorite) My personal favorite was definitely the That Guy's Beer Brown Ale which was rich in caramel notes and biscuit like flavors (ABV 6.4%). The brown ale paired perfectly with the Norse burger which included a blend of bison, boar, wagyu, and elk patty and was topped with caramelized onions, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, all on a union special bread bun. The delicious food included: -the radish toast which was @union special sourdough topped with huge radish slices, goat cheese, olive oil, black pepper, and sea salt. This was surprisingly very satisfying and had us coming back for seconds and thirds . -The prosciutto wrapped grilled asparagus was savory and thick -the Frikadeller dish were meatballs were flavorful and topped with goat cheese gravy, pickled cabbage, ligonberry jam. We can't wait to attend their trivia event and their dnd night. Outside seating is also available, which is perfect for those spring summer days. read more

Stopped by for dinner, the ladies had wine and I had the Astrid beer. My wife had the Wrapped Asparagus with prosciutto and provolone cheese. Which she loved and it was cooked perfectly. She also had the BLT which was fabulous. Our friend had the Norwegian Blue salad and it is made in the shape of a Viking Ship and then with grilled shrimp another fabulous meal. I had the fried filet of flounder on a Union Special Bun that is made especially for this restaurant. Had Mac and Cheese as my side and this was very good. Our server was Brooke and she was great, very professional and courteous to us the whole evening. Always checking on us to see what we needed she is the server to have. Thank you for this wonderful meal keep up the great work. Loved every minute of our visit there. Many local craft beers so a excellent selection for anyone's taste. read more

Norse Brewing Company has a nice environment, and I liked that they had little games for kids. However, the seating was uncomfortable since all the tables were high tops. A big downside was that the menu didn't have calorie information, which always knocks a star off for me. The waitress was nice, but the food took forever, which made us late to the event we were going to. I got a cheeseburger and mac and cheese--the mac and cheese was better than I expected, and the burger was good too. Overall, I'd give it 3 stars. read more

Super disappointed in the food here. I had a BLT that cost 15 dollars I think .. and I honestly could have done a better job myself. The presentation was terrible. For 15 bucks , make it look good on the plate at least. And the fries were terrible read more

This is primarily on the food as we didn't try the beer or anything on tap (beer, root beer, cider, etc. ) First the decor is pretty cool, they are going for the norse/viking theme and it's pretty cool. Not as much indoor seating as I would have expected, but they brew their own beer and that takes up space. The food was pretty adequate overpriced brewery food. We got the norse burger and it was just adequate, not sure if any of the game meat was in it, but it was ok.. the tots are straight from the bag. The avocado toast, lots of toppings with very little avocado.. the best of everything was the beet salad, lots of beets. What really brings it down was while we were leaving, we saw the owner/manager,etc walk in carrying the meat straight from what looked like the grocery store. I know everything comes from the store, but for the price it could be locally sourced.. Decent food, but pricy read more

We had an amazing experience at Norse Brewing. The brews were really good, we tried a flight and found the Cranmerry sour especially delicious for the holiday. Smoked Manhattan was a really cool twist on a classic, they served in a little mason jar with the smoke captured inside. If yummy brews and cocktails were not reason enough to go; the food was terrific. I loved the shrimp and grits which comes with pork belly and mushrooms. My daughter thought the chicken and waffles were some of the best she has eaten. Hubby's eggs, bacon, and biscuit were good as well. The biscuit was excellent and perfectly done. Outdoor seating is available in front and back. We will definitely be back. read more
