Blackbird, my love, my favorite brewing company, with wonderful people. Met Harmony, one of the owners at an event a few weeks ago where we sampled her wonderful beers and when my mom came to visit, we knew we had to take her to Halloween music bingo on a Tuesday night. The bingo was a blast, but the beers were even better from the tap! It's so hard to choose a favorite when every single one is so delicious. We're so excited to find a brewery that every person we meet agrees is THE BEST!I wish I took a picture when our cups were more full, but the beers were too good for that.

A great (though limited) selection of wines in addition to their wide variety of house-brewed beer. Blackbird is a must when in Wake Forest. The inside seating area is inviting and the outdoor space is large yet intimate. It's easy to get lost in hours of conversation and great beverages. The staff is knowledgeable, welcoming, and feel like old friends.

Blackbird Brewery is a very nice addition to the newly constructed Wheatfield Shopping Center located on Forestville Road in Wake Forest. We went there last Saturday and it was busy. There was a vendors market occurring in the open space between the brewery and a pizzeria (Mario's) that we are going to try soon. There is outdoor as well as indoor seating. Inside they did a really nice job with the seating and decor. I had a beer flight consisting of their IPAs, Czech and Blonde Ale. Most of the beers here are German / Czech, Belgian and American IPA inspired. All were delicious. I then got a pint of the Thiology Hoppy Blonde Ale. It was also delicious!! They offer wine and Prosecco for the non beer drinkers. It's a fun place; check it out.

My beer friends really like this place, so maybe I just need to try some other brews as it wasn't my favorite. They had about 10 different beers on tap when we went. The berry sour I got was just not good. It was loaded with fruit (which I have no problem with as fruited sours are my favorite), but the texture was off putting...pulpy almost. It tasted like watered down Koolaid. I sampled the jalapeño ginger and that was awful. To each their own. I was glad to see they bad an outdoor area where children could run around and adults have seats inside because there's nothing worse than unsupervised kids rolling around while you try to sip your beer.

Newly opened brewery in Wake Forest. Today is day 4. Rectangular room in a storefront in the corner of a new strip center. The in-house brewery isn't up and running yet, bar is serving beers from others. A nice variety is available. It's family friendly, there's a few tables outside. Welcome to the neighborhood!

I was holding off on trying this spot until they started brewing their own beer which they have been for a bit now. It was one of the IPAs for me and the short schwarz (a smoked schwarzbier) for my husband. I really liked the service, beer and space here. If you are in Wake Forest, check this brewery out.

    Bar seating area. Very cool.

I took advantage of the fact that my wife, a huge wine and cider fan, but not a big beer lover, was out of town to stop in and try this place. I absolutely loved it. The bar,/taproom atmosphere was awesome. It was laid-back, classy, and the servers behind the bar were outstanding. Both were very helpful, very busy, but Took their time with each customer, and were extremely efficient. Most importantly, the beers were great! I had a flight, and everything was outstanding. The highlight was probably the oatmeal raisin cookie Porter. All the flavors were there, and I loved everything about it. if I didn't live an hour and a half away, I would visit this place frequently. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone that likes craft beer, or just a cool place to hang out.

What a great family friendly brewery! Located in a newish shopping center in Wake Forest on Rogers Branch rd. They have a great outdoor space with cozy couches and chairs with table top fire pits and lots of gaming area for all the kiddos. They also have events according to the web site. Friendly service and will definitely be back. Beer and wine served as well as some non alcohol for the younger crowd. I did see pizza box from nearby Romeos so its bring your own food.

The space is intimate with a wide door open to the patio area. They only allows dogs inside to order with you which in my opinion is a small missed opportunity based on the proximity of a vet and a dog training facility in the same complex. A nice selection of overall types of beer and offers flights for you to choose from. I had a glass of the The Insider Cabernet Sauvignon which tasted like mulled blackberries in the most delicious way possible. The staff is friendly and attentive and we will certainly be back soon.

    Great beer - fun Oktoberfest!

You MUST sample several of his creations, and take a moment to see the incredible brewery that is a huge part of the experience - his wife Lynn gave us a quick and amazing tour of the brewery, see pics. I had the Viking Burger, a carnivorian delight made from elk, bison, boar and wagyu meats and a half Norwegian salad that had us swooning with pleasure - a full salad would be a satisfying main vegetarian entree. Paul's Wisconsin Brat was so good, gonna hafta to have that during our next visit. Lonerider was very accommodating and accessible for both humans and dogs. Let's talk about beer and cocktails. As I was DD, you'll have to take my spouse's word for the beer. He enjoyed a couple of IPA's on the menu, and they very kindly made me a mocktail for half the price (which I'm grateful for as the drive back to Northern VA is kind of long, and I don't need to get pulled over with two newly adopted beagles already scared for their lives.) The outlaw extra menu, which is made up of specialty kegs on tap, also had a good variety on it. The big screen with all the different beers currently available is pretty cool. And I like that there's a fridge stocked up with take home beers, too. Plenty of parking outside. The beer garden was packed full of people and dogs and pop-up shops, still with room to sit and enjoy a beer or two. Inside there was plenty of seating and room to move around without stepping on any paws. I love that a portion of the proceeds from these events always goes back to TriBeagles, and I'm thankful for local businesses supporting these precious dogs in finding homes by providing event space. I wish we lived closer, Lonerider. We'd be here all the time.

Nice viewing area & brewing room potential to rent sq footage for an event. Dynamite smiling face behind the bar. Happy, pleasant, engaging, knowledgeable. A kitchen that's being rented to a mixed variety food menu. We had Gyros. Great quality & great size. Ordering was seamless. They had a little something for everyone. Think food truck without the wheels! Love that they offer 2 on tap ciders (guest taps) and 2 NA options. Things to improve- All breweries do trivia, bingo & karaoke. What's something that is identifying to CRB? Just seems a bit stale to be polite. Loved their live music and guest monthly schedule. Several of the beer (specifically the coffee porter & honey wheat) were high IBU in turn being very bitter. We wanted to love the wheat and the coffee porter but both left us longing for better. So if we are a brewery... be great at that. Why are we a full service liquor bar too? A few options to appease everyone but we were surprised at the bourbon choices. Not only does it look cluttered, it clearly was selected by someone who has a preference for liquor/bourbon vs. a brew master. Maybe do a rotating cocktail list or 4-6 out of this world drinks and cut the rest. Drink prices at this price should not have pre done sour mix in them. Quality liquor should mean quality ingredients too. Big thumbs down on that. We did love the mimosa cocktail idea and the beer-rita with the use of CBR beer. Sames from 6 years ago- Chairs still suck. Parking is a little bit of an adventure but not sure there is a solution but rather just something to plan ahead for. No niche beer... still. We had their newish beers in each category. Overall... Scottish is still a solid choice. Lack of identity/theme/flagship beer (although we were told their IPA was?) Overall this place could be rocking 7 days a week! It's a good place to run by after work or gather a group and play card games, have access to a nibble & drink.

Parking is okay, spots are a tad bit limited but we found a spot just fine mid-day. Outside, there is a play area for kids across from the bar. We wanted to sit outside but it was pretty busy with families so we opted for indoor seating. The inside is pretty open and spacious with plenty of seating. I ordered a flight which was a great way to sample some of the selection. Overall, the beers were good, but not memorable. There was karaoke when we went. It was quite loud and we ended up having to shout at each other to hear one another. Again, this was mid-day, so it was odd to have karaoke going. There were quite a few kids running around, too. One of my biggest complaints about bars in this area is that too many allow kids. My husband and I are DINKS and would love to find a place that's adults-only but it's kind of hard to come by these days. I also personally think it's safer to just leave the kids at home if you're under the influence but that's just my two cents. If you are the type to bring the whole family to the bar for day drinking, you'll enjoy Compass Rose. I think I'll try them again but I'm still on the search for an authentic no-kids allowed bar. Maybe next time, I'll sit in the actual brewery section and see how that goes.
