Specializing in Hazy and West Coast IPAs, Altered State Brewing was rated Top Ten New Brewery on USA Today's top 10 New Brewery list! With their ever changing array of distinctive IPAs (Hoppy & Hazy), heavily fruited sours and stouts they are with out a doubt a beer lovers dream! Rotating taps, indoor and outdoor patio space makes this the perfect venue for friends, family's & co-worker meet ups! If you're ever in the Raleigh or Triangle area stop by and give them a try, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the brews or the hospitality!

Great things come in small packages, and that's certainly the case with Altered State Brewing. This was my first visit to their physical location, but I've had a good number of their beers thanks to friends sharing cans or tasting parties. There's only been one I haven't loved so far. Altered State makes small batches, so don't wait to go when you hear of something good. (They only use Facebook on social media.) If you enjoy thick smoothie beers or fruited sours this will more than exceed your expectations! The owner told me that they add full size pie crusts into their Key Lime pie beer! I got a s'mores stout which had wonderful layers of flavor from the graham cracker, marshmallow, to chocolate. The tropical smoothie fruited sour was out of this world, too. It was like a summer tiki vacation in your mouth. It was a good thing I had dinner plans because I could have put a few of those back. There are 4 or 5 full size picnic tables and then a couple stools at a bar type area outside. There is no indoor seating. If the City of Raleigh ever provides all their permits, they're hoping to move not far from Compass Rose Brewery in north Raleigh. Can't wait! Currently they're open limited hours on Thursday-Saturday.

Ok, so second time here, didn't post a review the first time but this brewery freaking knows how to make good beer. Their IPAs and sours are excellent and the other stuff is damn good too. Nice outdoor space. And you can't beat their prices on the flight, heck you get five tastes for less than 10 bucks. Awesome sauce. It is one of the best breweries in Raleigh, right up there with burial. You need to come try this, and I really don't wanna say this because it's so chill and uncrowded but holy cow. Funky tasty IPAs and their Wunderbar variations are on point and very tasty. This place is definitely not going out of business like the brewery next door did.

Altered State is finally serving beer but on release weekends only. They are located next door to Black Fire Brewing and have teamed up to offer one large outdoor space. There are no beers on draft, just cans and bottles that they pour for pints and flights. I tried a flight which consisted of the Losing California, Nektar, No Sleep, Pineapple Milkshake and Vortex of Decadence. My favorite was the Nektar, it's a gose with cherry and raspberry. I'm hoping that their hours will expand soon. I can't wait to try more of their beers, cheers!

The best IPAs in the whole state. They exist simply for beer excellence and deliver it in every pint. End of review.

I was actually a little nervous going in because certain Chinese dishes tend to upset my stomach, so I tried to avoid some of the heavier noodle and chicken dishes that normally do that to me. Honestly, I think that was the best decision because I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and felt completely fine afterwards. I started with the crab rangoons, which were perfectly creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside -- absolutely delicious. Then I tried the pork-filled bao buns, which was my first time ever having them, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them too. Everyone else at our table seemed to really enjoy their food as well. I genuinely didn't hear a single complaint. We also ordered some drinks that were delicious, and both our server and the rest of the staff were absolutely fantastic and very welcoming throughout the night. The atmosphere and vibes inside are honestly one of the coolest parts of the experience. It somehow feels like a mix between a brewery, a florist, a bookstore, and a Chinese restaurant all at once. It's such an interesting and unique space that doesn't really feel like anywhere else. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would absolutely come back to try more items on the menu.

I stopped in just a they were opening on a Friday and thank goodness I showed up when I did, this place gets packed quick and you should book a reservation to be on the safe side. I was most excited about the duck egg rolls but ended up being my least favorite not because they were slightly on the dry side. Flavor was good, and the hoisin honey sauce really helped! The seafood dumplings were second best, stuffed full. The soup based was amazing and it also came with some bread for dipping in the leftover sauce. The pork and chive shumai were my favorite! A little bit bigger than bit sized but worth the mouth full! Absolutely would recommend. I'll 100% be back for more food. The bar side looked to be more casual, the dinning room was full of high tea attire so I did feel a little under dressed, thought it would be slightly more casual. They have the cutest library with free books to read but only while you dine in. The flower and book shop are in the middle of the space. Super cute, limited options but great for a last minute bouquet!

The service is always fun and i enjoy the open atmosphere. This Belgian-inspired brasserie continues to be one of my go-to destinations for great food, craft beer, and one of the best Painkillers in town. My must-order dish is always the crispy beer-battered pollock paired with their perfectly seasoned truffle fries. The fish is light, flaky, and fried to golden perfection, but the real star might be their housemade tartar sauce--it's absolutely addictive. A few other standouts from our table included: Savory risotto topped with seared shrimp and blistered tomatoes The NRBC Juicy Burger loaded with onion straws and beer cheese Every dish was packed with flavor, and it's easy to see why this spot remains a local favorite. Whether you're stopping in for a craft beer, cocktails, or a hearty meal, this is a place that's always worth the visit.

I've also been to the Durham location, check out the review if you want to know more. Panysaurus over all is a very cool place (either location) but they have drastically different vibes - which in my book is a good thing. The Raleigh location has a smaller footprint and doesn't have the same outdoor patio vibe. The dinning area is a bit small but turn around is quick and there is plenty of space to stand and socialize if you're just there for the beer. I really love Ponysaurus beer, their pilsner is nice but their kolsch is my favorite. The Raleigh location menu has lots to choose from, we had a margarita pizza with pepperoni, hummus and wings. I can't recall what was in the hummus but we practically licked the bowl and the wings were a big hit too - note the Durham menu is a bit scaled down but one thing that's consistent with both locations is the amount of pita that came with the hummus. There is nothing worse than getting a huge bowl of hummus and only a few pieces of hummus or chips. Both locations knocked it out of the park - plenty of WARM pita for everyone. Service was great, we did't wait long and the tables were turned over quickly. They use a mobile app for ordering food which makes ordering fast and efficient and the food is delivered to your table - which I must note came out very fast.

This…read morespot has the perfect laid-back vibe for a weekend meal, plus an unbeatable view of downtown Raleigh, seriously, if the weather's nice, try to sit on the patio! We had a 70 degree surprise January day while we were there, so we did just that. We started our brunch with a couple of drinks: a bloody mary and an iced coffee. The bloody mary had a nice kick. Just the right amount of spice without going overboard. The iced coffee was smooth, not bitter at all, and honestly a great pairing if you're not in the mood for booze. To start, we shared the Dill Pickle Pimento Cheese with ripple-cut fries. I'm a sucker for pimento cheese and this one was outstanding. The dill relish gave it a tangy, fresh twist that worked so well with the creamy cheese. Scoop it up with those crispy ripple fries and you're golden. It's a shareable appetizer, but honestly, I'd come back just for that. For my lunch, I had the Chicken Caesar Pita. This isn't your average Caesar wrap. It was tasty, I wasn't expecting the chicken to be pulled, but it was pull juicy, marinated chicken, tons of Tuscan kale for a hearty bite, and generous shavings of parmesan. The charred Caesar dressing brought it all together with that smoky, savory flavor. The pita bread held everything nicely without getting soggy, and the portion was just right: filling, but not overwhelming. Service was super friendly and paced perfectly, not rushed, but never left waiting. Menu options looked creative and inclusive, with plenty for vegetarians and craft beer lovers, too. We had a great experience and I'll definitely be recommending it to friends who are going to Raleigh!
