Still, I always seem to find myself at Fortnight. And their beer has always been delicious, with plenty of varieties to sip from either on a cold December day or a blazing hot spring afternoon. They also have a lovely beer garden and, at least when I've been there, a tasty food truck on site. Staff is friendly, with self-service ordering at the bar (the line can definitely get long sometimes). I gotta say, the beer isn't always as cold as I would hope it would be - could be I'm just used to a different beer temp vibe here in the PNW. One ale I recently tried I had to bring back to the counter as it was so warm I thought I'd accidentally been given a cask ale. Oddly, they weren't really apologetic about it and were happy to charge me for a different (colder) beer, even though I'd only taken a couple of sips from the ale. Not the biggest deal, but worth noting that you might want to ask for a sample before committing to a pint, if for no other reason than to verify it's being served at a temp you like.

I went right after it opened so it was pretty empty during my visit, but there's a ton of seating (both indoor and outdoor!) and I can imagine it gets pretty busy at peak hours. I grabbed a 10 oz pour of the flagship IPA and hung out for a few minutes. Honestly, the beer was not my favorite (and didn't taste much like an IPA to me at least...) but I guess that's personal opinion :) The bartender was nice and the vibes were solid inside. Overall, there are a bunch of breweries in the Triangle, so I'm not sure I'd come back to this one as my first choice, but if a friend wanted to meet me here I wouldn't complain :)

That made us laugh and we were thirsty so we decided to take a break from shopping. We parked at VF parking lot and discovered that their doors were locked even though the hours on the door said they should have been open. We noticed South Line Brewing right beside it and saw people so we walked across the parking lot. We were immediately greeted by some friendly patrons (looked like they were having an event) and went inside. The bartender asked us what we would like to sample and we quickly found a beer to our liking. We inquired about the brewery next door and she informed us that they were closed for good. (Not this brewery's fault, but how rude that there was no posting on VF regarding this!) We really enjoyed our time here. We had a couple of beers, got a burger from the food truck, and just relaxed and people watched. I got the Notorious Bean Coffee Cream Ale and it was delicious. I had two and they went down very easily LOL. The vibe was excellent. LOTS of different seating...kinda felt like hanging out in your best friends garage (only in the best way possible!) Even sitting inside felt like sitting outside and enjoying a nice summer afternoon. If I'm ever back in the area, I will definitely stop by again!

I also noticed they had some liquor behind the bar if people preferred mixed drinks versus beer :) Not useful for me, but I appreciate that they're prepared! I ordered a beer and it was solid. My wife and I chilled on the couch for a bit and it was pretty comfy. The bartender was nice as well. Overall, we had a pretty good time at South Line and would definitely consider coming back!

I was a little surprised when I walked in and no one was manning the bar indoors, but a sign helpfully suggested that I check the outdoor bar, and sure enough, everyone was out there. I grabbed a beer and chilled on the "common patio area" (shared with South Line, I guess?), which was pretty nice. The beer I got was solid, and the bartender was nice. I was happy that the tip screen suggested reasonable bar tips ($1, $2, etc.). Overall, not a bad time at all, and I'd definitely come back here. We sat outside this time, but the indoors also looked reasonably comfy.

They also have a bar and offer mixed drinks for your friends that may not be into local breweries. Cary Gold was crisp and refreshing, Farmer's Dance was light and flavorful, and Blonde Roast was a standout with its smooth coffee and vanilla notes. We sat out front at the patio table on the lawn. It was a beautiful afternoon with a nice breeze, perfect beer drinking weather. I tried the amber and really liked it. Smooth and refreshing. They were fans, too. The house was gorgeous, bathrooms were clean and there was lots of outdoor seating. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.
