Employee treat DoorDash Drivers like trash.
Many DoorDash drivers work hard every day to deliver food quickly and safely, yet they are often treated with very little respect--especially by some restaurant staff. In many cases, restaurants act like delivery drivers are a burden instead of a valuable part of the food service system. This rude treatment makes the job harder, more stressful, and honestly, unfair.
One of the most common issues is being ignored. Drivers will walk into a restaurant to pick up an order and be completely overlooked by the staff. No greeting, no eye contact, no update on the order. Sometimes they'll stand there for 10 to 20 minutes with no one even acknowledging them, while regular customers are helped right away.
In other cases, restaurant workers talk down to drivers or act annoyed just because someone is picking up a DoorDash order. Drivers have been told things like "You'll have to wait, we're busy" in a harsh tone, even if the order was supposed to be ready. Some restaurants make drivers wait outside in the cold or don't let them use the restroom, even if they've been waiting a long time.
This kind of treatment is unfair. DoorDash drivers are just trying to do their job. They don't control when an order is placed or how busy the restaurant is--they just pick it up and deliver it. Without them, many restaurants would lose business, especially from people who rely on delivery.
It's time for restaurants to recognize that delivery drivers deserve the same basic respect as anyone else. A simple "hello," clear communication, and treating drivers like humans instead of a nuisance can go a long way. Everyone is working hard--and we're all on the same team. read more
