This is the first time I've left a negative review for a place. I went out to get a treat and my experience tonight was horrible. I ordered two items, an ice cream sundae and one of the pre-packed pints. I had to wait in line for my food to be brought to me for almost 20 minutes. I had to remind them to give me my pint. When I opened the sundae, the ice cream was almost completely melted. Eight dollars for ice cream soup. They also didn't give me any spoons or a receipt. My last Culver's experience was in Wisconsin visiting my brother-in-law last year. The experience here was the same. The burgers are similar to, but different from the other chains. Each one has their hook. At Culver's it's a toasted buttered bun. I also like that it's traditional ketchup, mustard, onions and pickles. Most chains seem to need some special sauce. I remember liking the custard a lot, but we didn't have any this trip. This review is about the burgers. I split a deluxe bacon cheeseburger combo with onion rings and a single butterburger with cheese. That allows checking the taste of the beef with and without toppings. The beef is that generic fast food/mega mart ground beef. You get the texture of meat, but there really isn't any beef flavor. Like most places, it's cooked past well done. I like a toasted bun, but the butter is not something I really like all that much. The toppings are average. So, it's another fast food burger. The onion rings were quite good. Real onion and decent batter that's not too heavy. Frozen, or not, they were hot and put the rings I had at Iggy's over the weekend to shame for a lot less money. I'd like to try some of the less traditional items and have custard. I'll update again then. read more

America's love of hamburgers and fries is well known and the proliferation of burger joints is clear evidence of that. Culver's is part of that burger tradition. They serve up burgers, chicken sandwiches, party melts and other food along with fresh frozen custard and shakes. We ate here tonight for the first time. The restaurant itself seems like a dressed-up fast food restaurant. The interior is very nice for a quick service restaurant, large booths and tables with wood verneer and large framed photos of iconic Utah landscapes throughout. The floors were tile and there was a lot of rock all around. The burgers were served on a toasted lightly buttered bun and were pretty tasty. I wish I had known their hamburger patties were so small though. The burger patties are practically paper thin, thiner than In-N-Out even. Get a double or triple. Trust me. Fries were fine, tasted OK, but ultimately were nothing special and a little dry. The Oreo shake we ordered was good, but Iceberg serves up better. read more

They have a monthly flavor, which I believe for October it's all about the Pumpkin Pie! Their Butter Burgers are very tasty, with many different styles & toppings you can add or take off. Their meat patties are thin, but satisfying. Plus if you're really hungry you can add up to 3 patties to your burger! Recently I ordered their Veggie Burger, Deluxe style & I was pleasantly surprised - It was delicious! Add along their piping hot crinkle fries, a drink or a shake & I'm in heaven! Did these young employees jokingly keep giving us the wrong order on purpose? We spent AN HOUR in the drive thru waiting for our correct order and they never brought it out to us. Sometimes that wouldn't itk me so, but we had been unable to eat all day and were both hangry as hell. The initial wait was 30 minutes for a completely plain burger and a salad. When our food finally arrived from the sleepy eyed kid we double checked our order because they are so inconsistent. We quickly found out that the fries were ice cold, why when we had waited so long ? The salad was NOT the salad we ordered, and there was no dressing or utensils or napkins. They have the building locked down to customers but we went in by the unlocked door near the drive thru and showed our receipt clearly stating what we ordered. The boy looked very confused at the receipt and then stared at the menu for a long time. I don't know if he was doing this as a goofy act to impress his buddy employees or if he thought we did not actually order our food from culvers because he acted as though they didnt make salad. It was so odd. Why not ask for help if he was confused? We listed out the 5 specific toppings for the salad. They reassured us it'd only be 5 minutes and they'd bring it out. 20 more minutes later the salad arrives, had to ask for dressing, again. Still no utensils, again, no napkins, again. We pull out and I glance at the salad- only 2 out of the 5 ingredients were on it with the addition of a joking amount of bad/slimey cucumbers. The addition of bad cucumbers seemed malicious (no cucumbers were requested and do not come on the salad we ordered). After all that waiting, with the Ice cold fries, a now cold burger, HALF full sodas that tasted moldy and the completely wrong salad again we had to get TF put of there. These kids don't care. They made us uncomfortable even though we were paying customers. That's why we didn't bother going back in to try and get the right food. I felt as though the next time they may have tampered with it. There was no reason to keep giving us the wrong salad and to take an hour to do so. We waited all day for food and were completely disappointed by the service, accuracy and quality from this location. Never go here, but especially not on a Sunday. Wow, I don't know where to start! I walk in on Sunday evening and the front lobby is filled with trash. Immediately, I noticed an old grease smell when I walk in with garbage and broken tiles on the floor and throughout the restaurant. Workers were arguing about things, throwing food around, eating with their gloves on, and then, presumably going back to serving food, definitely not what I have seen in other Culvers as far as cleanliness and orderliness! Workers had earbuds in, so they couldn't even hear the orders of the customers, they were rude, and very incompetent! And if I could find a number to call the FDA, I will, and I fully expect this restaurant to be shut down over these grievances! Old ketchup on the walls by the trashcan, as well as trash, scattered throughout the restaurant! The problem didn't seem like a bad crew or a bad shift, the problem seem like terrible management! The butter burger was a first for me. The burger was well cooked, I got mine with onions, lettuce and pickles. I kept it very simple. I ordered the fries and onion rings. The onion rings were on point. However, the fries were crispy outside, but not so cooked on the inside. My son got a crispy chicken sandwich which he shared with me, and it was so fresh and crispy (they way I like it). It would have been better if the packets of Gulden Mustard were fresh (the packets were a bit hard and nothing flowed out of them). It's hard to imagine that you can improve on ice cream. So, you can imagine my surprise when I discovered frozen custard. I had heard about it, but got my first taste of this amazing suprise when they built Culver's near my home. Being lactose intolerant, milk based products like frozen custard are a special treat that I only allow myself upon occasions. But this dessert makes taking the Lactaid pills word it. I also really like their burgers and fries, which are always high quality. And their customer service has always proven excellent at this location. Utah needs another burger place like we need another season of road construction. In a state where there are some significant burger stand-outs, Culvers in my opinion falls somewhere right in the middle. The burger itself was pretty tasty, but I wasn't blown away by it. The patties are super-thin (think In-N-Out), so if you're anything more than a little bit hungry, get a double. Their root beer float was really tasty. Made with their "handcrafted" rootbeer and their house-made custard, it is a creamy, delicious delight. Their fries are of the crinkle-cut variety, which is never my favorite. Culver's fries were just ok. One item I could definitely see myself coming back for would be their fried cheese curds. The cheese curds are salty, crunchy, and really delicious. Culver's was one of my go-to fast food joint when I lived in Detroit, and I was excited when I saw that Culver's was opening in Utah. It is the only place to eat in the 7 blocks between my apartment and the freeway, so I go there more often than I normally would. Culver's wins the convenience award for me. That being said, I don't like everything on the menu. Your experience with Culver's will probably depend on what you order. The ButterBurger is their signature food item, and unless you request a single, the default is a double. I don't usually order the butterburger, but I do like the mushroom swiss variety. The pot roast sandwich is my favorite. I like the cashew chicken salad. The soups are tasty, but nothing too unique. The cheese curds are tasty, and I always upgrade my baskets from fries to curds. The kids meals are a great value because they include a gigantic ice cream cone. Culvers excels in their desserts. The shakes, sundaes, and frozen custard are wonderful. They have a shake of the day, and I haven't had one that I didn't like yet. It's a little pricier than other burger joints, so I hope that they adopt a value menu like the mid-West locations. But as I said before, it's ridiculously convenient, so I'm sure I'll keep going when I want a quick fast food fix. read more

Butterburger? What's a Butterburger? That's what I wanted to know as a I perused the large, and unexpectedly diverse, menu at Culver's. Well I now have the privilege of knowing what makes a Butterburger...well..buttery. It's the Delicious golden flavor of the freshly buttered, slightly toasted bun that envelopes a fresh juicy patty, cheese, thick smoky bacon, lettuce and tomatoes...and don't forget the pickle on top! Delicious doesn't begin to describe it. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say it was the best burger I've ever had but right now I can't think of one I have had recently that topped this one. Here's a tip for moms and dads...the kids meals are awesome. Your little Scoopie can come with a burger, hot dog, corn dog or chicken tenders. It also comes with a coupon that you can take back to the counter at the end of the meal for a free scoop of frozen custard...uh huh huh...not ice cream...frozen custard!! I was expecting my little guy to come back with a tiny sample size free scoop. Oh no...he came back with towering cone of velvety smooth chocolate custard. I was also impressed by the delightful customer service. Now granted, this place just opened a few days ago, so we'll see if the best foot forward stays forward for long. But the staff were friendly and accommodating. They helped refill drinks, brought over condiments, cleared our table and checked on us periodically....even though the place was packed. This place didn't know the meaning of the phrase self-serve. Also something that I found exceptionally helpful was the online nutrition guide. I checked out the menu online before going to the restaurant and found the nutrition guide that let me choose my menu item, add or remove condiments, extras like cheese and mayo, and build my whole dinner with fries and all then calculated the customized nutrition information. This was so helpful for those of us counting points for weight watchers! I know a few mega-chain fast-food places that could take a lesson from this place on things like quality, customer service, variety, and online menus. Now my only problem is figuring out when I'll be on that end of town again so that I can go back! read more

I read reviews about the butter burgers and thought I'd stop to try it out. I got the Culver's Deluxe with Fries. The deluxe comes with two patties and veggies. I was pretty damn hungry so when I sunk my teeth into that burger, it was bliss :) The burger was really good. Meat had a nice flavor to it and the butter bun went well with it, too. Oh, and the fries were delicious! Crunchy, flavorful, and not salty at all! I just went to the Habit Burger grill a few days ago but I have to say that the Culver's burgers beats the Habits'. I definitely recommend trying this place out, at least for the burgers. There's all sorts of other things on sale here, but that's what I came for and I wasn't disappointed! Yummy! read more

Oh my frozen custard! I wish Culver's would move to Davis (or Weber) county. Because I really enjoyed our meal there, & I wish there was one closer to me. I had the butter burger. I picked up a distinct hint of buttery-goodness in the first bite. But after that initial taste, the butter flavor faded. I'd rate the burger as average. The deep-fried cheese curds were fun. Surprisingly, the chicken tenders were the standout of the meal. Two of my kids ordered them & I snuck a bite. They were so good that I told my husband to try some too. He agreed! They were fantastic. Fresh, white chicken meat. Perfectly breaded & cooked. I'm definitely ordering chicken tenders the next time I go. And of course, there was the frozen custard! It was delicious. I went for the Cheddar ButterBurger with Bacon Combo Meal. First of all, the burger was pretty small, but at $6 for the combo, Culver's is less expensive than most. But I expect a BC combo lunch to get me through the afternoon. In this case, I had to hit up the muffins in the breakroom at work about 3:00. Maybe I should have ordered the Double. . . Anyway, the patty was thin, but tasty. The bacon was barely adequate. Toppings were plentiful and fresh. I really enjoyed the bun. Nice texture. Not too dense, not too soft, not too sweet. Just right. The pickle jammed into the top with a toothpick is an acceptable gimmick. I'm OK with crinkle cut fries, but my order could have stood another minute in the fryer. I'm alway glad to see a self-serve condiment and soda bar where I can mainline fry sauce and get a free refill of Minute Maid Lemonade. All in all, not too great, but not too shabby. read more

I swear I've reviewed this before! But I can't seem to find my review! Before I saw the nutritional information, I loved Culver's. I always come here for the chocolate with peanut butter concrete mixer, and the cheese tots. The cheese tots are delicious, but if you don't eat them fast enough they begin to take on a chicken texture. My favorite item from Culver's is their concrete mix ins. You simply cannot go wrong with chocolate custard with half a jar of peanut butter mixed in. I recently downloaded an app called "Restaurant Nutrition" and looked up some of my favorite foods. I think my eyes almost popped out of my skull when I read Culver's nutritional information! A medium chocolate w/ mix in concrete mixer has 996 Calories, 89.0 fat grams, 393.0mg of Cholesterol, and 122.0g of carbohydrates. This is insane! I normally get the large! I couldn't bring myself to look at the calorie information on that one. The cheese curds are just as bad! 6.74oz of cheese curds have 670 calories, 38 grams of fat, 75mg of cholesterol, 1740mg of sodium, and 54 carbohydrates. Well, we now have another place to get a burger, fries and a shake. I got the mushroom swiss something or other burger. It was decent. Better than a 'standard' fast food joint for sure, but not super spectacular. I think the cheese was real and not the fakey stuff that most burger places use, either that or I was really distracted while I ate and didn't notice.... I will say, the menu was a little more varied than most, so I'd be fine to go back a few times to try things out. And while I only had one little sip of a shake, I wouldn't mind heading there for ice cream. But overall, it's not a first choice destination for me. I think there is a lot of sentimentalism attached to this place for those who had them around growing up. I get that. It was really crowded when we went, and they were clearly training new employees, but I feel like they did try to go above and beyond to be useful. They do deliver your food to the table and will get sauces and drinks for you to be helpful - which would be really nice if you were taking a bunch of kids out to eat. For starters our cashier was rude and had an attitude. My girl friend and I got the bacon deluxe and it come with no bacon.

Ordered their sourdough melt single, was excited to try it, couldn't see any meat opened the bread in what they call a patty it was a literally see through and didn't cover more than half of the overall bread they had some cheese and a couple little pieces of onion. I took it to the general manager, he confirmed that this is the way it's supposed to be made. He offered to replace the sandwich, I asked are all the burgers the same size patty? He confirmed all singles are the same size patty. I said for 350 and a see through patty I'm not interested in any other sandwich. Got my money back. The corn dogs tasted fine, for $1 each on special this week . The chicken and dumpling soup $2.50, had literally no dumplings in the entire cup & limited chicken, although flavor was fine. This place is a really good idea for a fast food place, but it doesn't tickle my personal fancy all that well. I think that the sheer variety will get me to go back again, but I wasn't terribly impressed with anything I ordered. The cheese curds and burgers that my companions were, I think, much better. My BBQ sandwich was firmly "meh", making me think that you're better off sticking to things native to the Wisconsin (Culver's origin, I think). ice cream was pretty good. I'd happily get it again, but it wasn't special. I will say one thing, and that this is easily the nicest fast food restaurant I've ever seen. It was actually clean, the service wasn't brain-dead, and the bathroom was not that of a fast food joint.
