I've had the worst two days of service at this restaurant in West Jordan. Yesterday I went through the drive-through and waited, waited, waited. Finally, after sitting there with nobody speaking to me through the speaker, I decided to leave and go to McDonald's, as I drove around through the drive-through to get out, there was one car at the window and no cars parked at the restaurant. On day two, today! I was able to go through the drive-through. I ordered two mustard dogs with extra mustard I paid for my meal I left and as I opened both hotdogs, there was cheese on them. Now I for one love cheese, but it wasn't what I ordered and I didn't want to taste the cheese on my hotdogs, I just wanted to taste the mustard. We have lived in the area for over 20 years and have eaten here many time over that time period. But I think it is going to have to come to an end. The hot dogs we get are always terrible. Old and wrinkly. Almost every single time. I just wonder if they save those for the drive in people cause anyone sitting in the restaurant would definately take them back.,,but when you get all the way home would you? We usually just get mustard dogs so as long as you pile on the mustard they are usually somewhat edible. A couple years ago I did complain when it was really bad and got an apology and coupons for a future visit. After that it seems to get ok. Not better. And definitely never fresh but ok. But the first issue was changing to coke. Not a huge issue but an issue. I am not a COKE ONLY or a PEPSI ONLY person but weinershnitzl is the only place that you need it to be Pepsi! But that's handleable. We just stopped getting drinks. But still the "old man" hot dogs were more often than not. Then we got hot dogs only the other day and the price was ridiculous! (Never noticed that before since we always got drinks and fries too). But $2.79 for a small mustard dog?! That's is usually old and wrinkled?! Well today we went. Took our kiddo here for his birthday dinner because 7-year olds get really excited about a hotdog restaurant! We were disappointed to learn they don't yet carry the Tastee-Freeze ice cream products but we carried on with lots of hotdogs, corn dogs and chili cheese fries. The service was fine. Nothing over-the-top but we felt seen and taken care of. The food was fast food but actually pretty good. I'd go back again for the all-beef kraut dog. The drop in stars is due to the actual condition of the restaurant. It needs a major update! The chairs at the tables were literally wearing out--wood sticking out from the upholstery. There is only one table in the entire restaurant to fit a group larger than 4, and everything is bolted to the floor so you can't combine tables for a larger group. There are two gender neutral restrooms but one was out of order and the other wasn't in a usable condition. Ick. So would I go back? Maybe. We would order two chili cheese dogs with fries and dip our fries in our chili. Was so tasty!! So you can see I'm a long term customer. My top 5 dogs are chili cheese, chili, mustard with relish and onion, corn dog and just a good old original plain mustard dog. All of their dogs are sinfully delicious even the chili purger is good. My wife says these are called Hamburger Stand where she grew up. In any event, while I've occasionally strayed from my regular order, I've never been as content with the regular. The regular is the chili cheese combo. Chili cheese dog, chili cheese burger, and chili cheese fries. I don't know what it is about their chili, but it just "goes" with hotdogs and burgers. Other places may attempt the chili-challenge, by smothering their offerings with chili, but it just doesn't compare to der Weinerschnitzel. While their chili may be the bomb on dogs and burgers, I'm certain its not something to be enjoyed ala carte. It's like Robin to Batman, a great sidekick. The frequency of my visits coincides with the frequency of their coupons for the chili cheese combo. Otherwise, it just seems to be a bit out of my price comfort zone. I'm about 50/50 when it comes to dine in or drive thru. Unlike others, I've never experienced Drama at the Dog Drive-Thru. I do occasionally worry about the dog running away (going out of business), and what I'd do for my chili fix. Locations in South Jordan and Draper have closed in recent years. Their app (which I've never collected enough points to redeem) says it's being discontinued in April 2017. OMG, I've gone to so many fast food restaurants, and all of the other places serve drinks that are watered down to the point that it might as well be seltzer water, if it isn't flat. I've been going here recently, mostly for hot dogs. I haven't been inside, only through the drive through, so that's my disclaimer. The outside seems to be pretty average for fast food, but the tables outside don't look too inviting and underneath the widow in the drive through is pretty dirty, but that's me being picky as I've seen that with plenty of smaller fast food chains like that. My food is always hot, the buns are soft and taste like the nice ones from the store that aren't generic and have probably been baked more recently. As far as the menu goes, pretty average, but the quality of the food makes me give it a little extra. Heck, sometimes McDonald's gives me an old, dry bun. Nothing like an old, dry bun to ruin your meal. One big problem they have there is customer service. They aren't just "blah, I hate my job, I'm just trying to get through the day, I'm so bored", which I could care less about. There is a clear tension feeling that's almost hostile. The tone they use is incredible. I can't even remember the last time I went somewhere and the employees were this rude. I like to get their 5 dogs for $5.95. Advertised it's corn dogs and chili dogs, but I just want plain work ketchup. I wouldn't think that would be a huge deal, but when I order it, to me the tone is like I asked for a ridiculous order or even a whole different cuisine. The first time I asked if this were possible, a female employee was actually very nice and said no problem. (EDIT: I have found the day employees are average to friendly.) However, since then on it's like, how dare I, the audacity, etc. They'll ask afterward "no fries or a drink?!" Iike I've committed a huge sin. This probably sounds dramatic, but trust me, it stuns me too. Every time I go it makes me not want to come back. There's a female that works at night that has more attitude than my 17 year old sister. It's almost hilarious when they tell me, "have a nice day" because they are really good at putting a little damper on my day. Look bucko, I know your job sucks, your life probably sucks, but you don't have to draw everyone into your misery. My guess is they all feed off of each other's moods. I worked for RadioShack for two years, don't you tell me how hard retail is! I'd give this a 2 star rating, but the fresh buns are too much of a plus. read more
