Wish I had a picture to show you, but my jumped right in on the cheesesteak sandwich and my fingers were too messy to touch my phone. I'm in visiting from out of town and a friend mentioned two restaurants, one a pizza joint, the other a cheesesteak place...obviously I went with the cheesesteak place! I'm picky, especially when it comes to cheesesteak sandwiches...so I had elevated expectations with the place coming so highly recommended. Stepping inside, I was already pretty sure this was going to hit some high marks...it smelled good...it wasn't a "hole in the wall", but it had that vibe aside from being clean. Staff was nice, I explained I was a first timer and they walked me through the popular items, but I already knew I was going cheesesteak with everything on it. It was late and I didn't want to engorge myself so I went with the 6" instead of the 12" and got the fries with it. OK...they know what they're doing here...it came out wrapped in brown paper with sandwich paper (is there even such a thing...there is now) and it was steaming hot. I pulled back the paper exposing this beast of a sandwich...12" would have been too much (at least that's what she said. The cheese was melted throughout the steak...oh my God, this is the only way these should be made. The meat was lean, no grizzle or bad spots, they trim it perfectly for flavor and texture. Mushrooms, onions, peppers...and awesome bread, it was perfect and the first taste confirmed my beliefs! This IS the perfect cheesesteak sandwich and I'm not in Philly...how? One disappointment...the fries are coated...I'm not a fan of coated fries and almost never eat them. I usually ask, and pass if they are, but forgot to this time. I wasn't going to waste them...surprise, they were pretty damn good. I'll give them. 7.5 out of 10 and that's a solid score. So how do I score the Philly cheesesteak...9.9999 because does a true 10 exist outside of Bo Derek, well, maybe Phoebe Cates...Fast Times at Ridgemont High changed my life! So, don't kid yourself, you won't find a better cheesesteak...better get your butt over there and confirm what I already know! I will be back next time I'm in town! Great! I had the 6" Philly with Cheese Wiz. SO HUGE! The sandwich was 4.5" in diameter, approaching 5". Can't fit it in my mouth. The meat was good, the peppers and onions were good the wiz was good the roll was good. Tasty sandwich. I am spoiled by Frankie's south Philly's Cheesesteak in Tucson, which was about as authentic as you can get out side of Philadelphia. They ship their hoagie rolls from a Philadelphia bakery. And the way Frankie's puts their cheesesteak together is divine. This was just a half a hair under, it was so good. And it was so big and packed with meat. I couldn't finish this 6 incher. And it is very thoughtful that they provide a plastic fork and several napkins. Moochie's also has several sauces: jalapeño, chipotle, and Ranch maybe? Anyway, they threw in a bunch--and I mean a bunch--of jalapeño sauces and a couple of chipotle sauces. All in all, 7 sauce containers. The sauces are really good. Hardy and full of flavor. It is so tempting to eat this Philly with the sauce and I did for a few bites and really enjoyed it. But the flavor of the sandwich was so good, I didn't want to spoil it. This location on State Street seems a bit older and a hair tired, but still comfortable. There is enough parking and it is easy to get to. The service was pleasant and friendly. I definitely recommend Moochie's. I'll be back to try their sides. That, after all, is an important part of having a Philly cheesesteak. (Frankie's had killer sides.) 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Your food is great but dang you have to work on your speed. Typically I'm pretty patient man but dang you're slow. 5 people working and let me put a Asterix on working. Because it was really just 2 guys and I mean men. There was 3 people (women) just standing. 11 customers ordered zero subs and I was here at 10:56 am and it's 11:24 am and none of us have a sub. Oh .. now 10, a guy who already ordered just walked out pissed. You really have to be pissed to pay $20 for a sub and bail with out. I don't get the middling ratings for this place, because the cheesesteaks we had were delicious. They were as good as, if not better than those we used to crave from their original downtown location over a decade ago. Bread is just right, crispy on outside, soft in the middle. Meat super tender and flavorful, each piece coated in a thin veneer of cheese. I always grab a bottle of jalapeño sauce and squirt on each bite. Prices are a bit steep for fast food, but it's worth it. As for other food here, fries are pretty good - on the greasy limp side but satisfying dipped in their bottled fry sauce. Sweet potato fries not as good. Hard pass on the cheesecake cups (too soft & sour). It is nice this location actually has tables to sit at for a change, and usually no line unlike the downtown location. Bathroom is micro small. Considering how many workers are here, I was surprised they screwed up our order.. They seem to socialize A LOT in back. But they eventually did make it right. I'm just glad to see Moochie's has expanded into a local chain. I'll definitely be back in. read more

Unfortunately, Moochies doesn't deliver the same quality of food anymore. The standards have slipped while the prices keep climbing. I waited over 20 minutes for my order, and the pizza cheesesteak I tried was a major letdown. The steak tasted completely unseasoned, and the sandwich overall lacked flavor. Moochie's is one of my favorite places to get a good Philly Cheesesteak. The sandwiches are filling and you can get different sizes. They are very filling and flavorful. I've driven past Moochie's restaurant ~50 times in the last couple of months and thought "I wanna go there and try that one out" because cheesesteaks right? It's located at 7800 S. State and a couple times when I've stopped it's been closing for the night with chairs up on tables and people cleaning inside. Pro Tip: location closes early like around 830 pm. Yesterday I stopped in around 6:00 pm and it was moderately busy. Stood in line for a few minutes and the counter-staff was pleasant. I ordered the original cheesecake (no not cheesecake, cheesesteak) and I'm not gonna lie, it seemed a little bit expensive. $17+ for the 12" original. Went home and opened it up. It's enormous and I could only eat half. It was so good. It comes with mushrooms, white cheese and the onions and peppers. The cashier recommended the jalapeno sauce which I also highly recommend. As I was waiting for my to go order 5-7 minutes, this dad and son (I'm guessing from their conversation, apparent ages and physical stature; both over 6 1/2 feet tall) came in and ordered off of the cold sandwich menu like a couple of pros. Now I know there's a world of different, popular choices and variations on the menu that I want to try. Next time I plan to try something called the Atomic or maybe a triple Italian... I was also a very disappointed in the amount of sweet potato fries I got. They are more expensive than regular fries and my dish was not even full. We had been working at my Moms all day. We were tired and hungry. Moochies was open so I ordered since we're about a half hour out. When we got there and they were closing our order wasn't completely ready. I had asked very specifically for my meat to be well done it wasn't. I had asked for mustard and it was drenched in it. The bread was also soaking in it. I won't do that again. Their Macaroni Salad is great though I should have just had that. For two sandwich combinations the bill was $44. I have eaten at the Moochies in Salt Lake for years and the cheese steak is always delicious. I took friends to the one in Midvale a couple of day ago and recommended to them the cheese steak. When the food came the meat was like ground up hamburger looking, it had no onions on it and a skimp of white cheese . It was suppose to have onions and melted cheddar on it. I was pleasantly surprised by this place! The building is relatively unassuming, they offer dine in, take out, and delivery. I ordered a classic philly cheesesteak and added lettuce, tomato and Mayo, plus a side of fries with fry sauce. My partner ordered the cheese chicken (basically a cheesesteak but with chicken). You can get a 6" or 12" sandwich. The cheesesteak was really good! I haven't had one in years and really enjoyed it. The fries were crispy and the fry sauce was tasty. We use to go to the one in Lehi before it closed. So I thought I'd try this location for old times sake. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The prices have gone up and the meat in the Original Philly is significantly less. Hubby and I split the footlong. Got an order of fries and cheese curds. Those parts were prob the highlight on the meal and the prices for those were reasonable. The parking is limited as with the indoor seating but there were some outdoor tables too. Its right off a very busy State St road so good location for them and easy to find. The sauces were good-- both original fry sauce and jalapeño and they didn't charge if u want more. read more

We're from out of town in Midvale Utah for a few days and was steered here by my hairdresser at home. She suggested Moochies for a great cheesesteak sandwich. At lunchtime today we headed over to check it out and there were a fair number of customers in there when we arrived. We noticed they have a promotion if you scan a QR code they will give you four dollars off your bill for joining the club and also a generous $15 birthday bonus you can use for about a month. We ordered a Philly cheesesteak sandwich 6 inch size and a Ruben 6 inch size as well. Also a side of their 50-50 fries which are regular fries and sweet potato fries mixed together and finally a fountain drink. At home we don't really have any good options for Philly cheesesteaks that I have found so I'm always on the hunt for a killer cheesesteak and this one was not disappointing! It came with optional onions and mushrooms which I ordered both the only thing else was missing that I had had in the past were sweet red peppers. The Ruben we ordered was killer as well with really yummy pastrami. They have a couple unique sauces that they have in-house for fries and a jalapeño sauce which goes well with the cheese steak sandwich. They had a local birch soda as a fountain drink which was a nice change of pace from root beer and was really tasty! I always trust my hairdresser to steer me in the right direction food wise she really knows her stuff! So happy we came here for lunch today they have three locations in the greater Salt Lake City area we were just lucky this one was a mile away from where we're staying :-) read more
