I'm from California and was in Arizona for a training when a few of the girls and I decided to stop by Culinary Dropout for lunch. Overall, it was a great experience. I ordered the Asian salad, and it was absolutely delicious. It was packed with flavor, fresh, and the portion size was just right. The restaurant itself is huge, with plenty of seating and a spacious, comfortable atmosphere. The service was great as well. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our visit. My only real criticism is that the menu felt a bit limited, especially for vegetarians. There weren't many vegetarian options available, which could make it difficult for some people to find something that appeals to them. That said, the food was great, the service was excellent, the pricing was fair, and the overall experience was very enjoyable. I would definitely return the next time I'm in Arizona. read more

I'll give it credit that the ambiance is great and the cocktails are tasty, but the food really let us down. Was here for a large company meal of 13 people and we all seemed to agree on a few things. The wings were terribly salty, and they did not get finished. The brussel sprouts while tasty were absolutely drenched in oil, guessing deep fried for too long or at a lower temp. Lastly the short rib bowl was FAR TOO SWEET, and the risotto or whatever it was sitting on was basically watery flavorless grits. A few also got burgers and reported they were just very plain run of the mill burgers. This place could really be a knockout, but they need to get it together in the kitchen as that part really put the place off my radar for the future. We had the pleasure of experiencing their Bar Blitzen area! You do need a reservation for this! This place has been on my list for almost a year now, and finally got the chance to come here for brunch. I wanted to leave a great review of this place, and the food tasted amazing however I had to knock off a couple stars for the service. I came with a party of 6, and we were seated almost immediately. We placed our order for drinks and food, however it took almost 30 minutes just for the appetizers to come out. There were several open tables, and for brunch it definitely wasn't as busy as it usually would get for dinner. When we finally received our entrees, I ordered the Turkey Pastrami and substitute the coleslaw with lettuce, however when I got my sandwich almost 40 min after sitting down, I just received pastrami in the middle of a ton of lettuce. Fortunately, our server apologized and had my order remade, but it delayed my order another 10 minutes. Overall, I felt like the service was very slow. We spent almost 2.5 hours there, and only spent less than an hour eating. The food, however, was delicious. read more

Service was pretty good, ambiance for brunch was pretty good, food not what was expected, based upon rave reviews! The cloth napkin that my silverware was wrapped in did not smell good.. leaving wet items too long causes this "spoiled" smell. Not conducive to a pleasant dining or drinking experience. Our sweet server immediately replaced it with a wrapped set from the vacant table next to us. The deviled eggs were pretty good, as were hunny's chicken wings. I would not normally order spaghetti at a sports bar, but older reviews raved about it. Parts of my tagliatelle pasta were crispy- over-heated in an oven, I suspect. The Basil was peeled off of the top of my bowl and set aside, as shown in one of these photos. The sauce was not great, either. The manager, I think, (lady with heavy black glasses) stopped by and offered to have another plate prepared, but we declined. I would suggest setting paper napkins or coasters under glasses, as they sweat and drip onto your patrons. All in all, we were sadly disappointed and won't be returning. If you're not a fan of very sweet dishes, I'd recommend skipping them. The sauce tasted more like candy syrup than a savory glaze, and the rice was overcooked. On the positive side, the steak and frites were cooked perfectly and ended up being one of our favorite dishes. We also enjoyed the wings and nachos, both of which were flavorful and well executed. I had the grapefruit mocktail, yum, and presentation was lovely, it was refreshing. We got the wagyu pigs in a blanket, the white truffle deviled eggs, and the bacon wrapped shrimp. They hit it all out of the park. It was exactly what it should be and then some and we enjoyed every last bite. It was quiet as it was the end of a Monday night but server was still attentive but not overly attentive. The food was great and Cole's personality brought it all together nicely. Culinary Dropout has several locations through-out the valley. I went to the one in Gilbert on a week night. The buttersquash and Kale salad was outstanding and a large portion that I had enough for the next day. The service was excellent and I did not feel rushed at all. They allowed us to stay past the closing time. It is an excellent vibe. I know they have music there but I have never seen it. I highly recommend this place. The only thing I didn't like is that you can't park right in front of the restaurant and have to park in a garage or across the street. That is not the restaurant's fault as all the restaurants near there have the same situation so no stars are taken off. I know you can host a private dining event as I have looked into that in the past.
