Second time here and enjoyed myself. Great atmosphere and vibe. Service at the bar is extremely slow though. I sat there for 20 minutes before anyone greeted me and offered a menu. The couple next to me had menus and cocktails but waited just as long for someone to come take their order. Drinks are fantastic. My steak and frites was tasty and steak cooked propelrly, but it was cold (fries hot). I guess it got cold waiting on the fries. read more

So asked about a dish that we had at the Scottsdale location which was the pasta and steak. Well the manger came over and said they don't have that kind of pasta here. He then said the pasta they have reminds you of a radiator coil...like what!!! How are you comparing pasta to a engine part..im already turned off. Sir learn food etiquette lingo...Culinary drop birmingham put this as a standard on your resume. But I need to get back on track with the review So the place is cool vibes and the hostess are learning so I want say anything bad but the GM who was definitely the star of this place. Shout out to Nicole for trying to turn our first experience at this location around. She had to help the host out and explain to the young lady in a kind voice when someone has a reservation their table should be ready and they shouldn't have to wait. Their table is ready. So Nicole really is trying to help all over this place and she's doing an excellent job. So we order our drinks, they were amazing, I'm definitely here for the moxtails, so refreshing. Then our food came out hubs got the 36 hour ribs and I got the steak fritts. I'm talk about my meal, it was cold first thing I notice. The side salad was just tossed in vinaigrette with no extra seasoning for taste. The fries was hot and good, but the steak definitely needed as my grandma would say doctored up( more seasoning). Hubs ribs was good and tender, the sauce was the spotlight of the dish. The flavor of the ribs it self was masked by the sauce which he didn't mind. His coleslaw was garbage he said, he stated it lacked everything, they barley tossed it, it was very dry and there was no flavor at all. He didn't bother eating it. His fries was good and hot. So let's talk about the service, I don't want to say to much because this their first week so service will be attentive but the one the managers the short guy with glasses, he needs etiquette training. The atmosphere is chill. But anywho I don't think I would want to go back, I think I'll choose walk on's over this any day. read more

The staff was super friendly. We sat at the bar because we were on a time crunch. Super helpful staff. Food was delicious too! We both loved our meal. A little pricey for lunch. But overall we were both pleased. Nice classy atmosphere. read more

We had a great meal there on their opening night. The service was prompt and the server was funny and well trained. The decor was pleasant and the live band was great. No first night hitches-a sign of good management. I will definitely return. read more

The service was super slow, negligible. The ambiance was cold and loud. The food was cool as well. Don't know how to improve but just consider this a fair warning. It could have been just a fluke but who knows. Not going back. read more

My husband and I stopped on our way home and had an amazing experience. Everything from the service to the drinks and the food was amazing. We started with the pretzel bites which came with a provolone fondue dip... 10/10!! The drinks were fresh and very well made. The Espresso martini was the best I've ever had. Last but not least, the brunch pizza was a Detroit style pizza and all the flavors were top notch. We will most certainly be back! read more

My wife and I got a fried chicken plate. First time being there. Chicken was over breaded, cooked to long. Potatoes were luke warm. Slaw was good. Tea was peach, which was good. Publix makes better chicken. She agreed. Service was great. Ambiance was good. Sunlight cutting right through the blinds didn't help us and others. I saw many trying to block the sun from their eyes while eatting. Just to let you know there's been multiple people complaints about the chicken. Same problems. read more

Valentine's Day lunch. Food was basically awful. "Steak & Lobster" destroyed by a powerful salty sauce that was poured over the entire plate, sides and all. Everything drowned in this sauce and all tasted the same. Shrimp and grits usually a safe choice, hard to mess up, but they succeeded. Multiple conflicting ingredients that didn't work. Server was pleasant and apologetic. We are typically easy to please, but this was just too much, and we won't be back. read more

Last night, we went to Culinary Dropout, and all I can say is AMAZING. From the amazing food, drinks, and service. The ribs fall completely off the bone, and the sauce makes you want to lick your fingers. I would definitely recommend it. My wife had the steak, it was good, it was cooked perfectly. I will say I wish it had a little more flavor. But it was still good. Our appetizer was the WHIPPED FETA & TAHINI DIP. We decided to try something outside our norm, and it was amazing. It gave the perfect balance between sweet and savory. The service was top tier. I love the fact that all the servers wore their own clothes it added to the ambiance of the restaurant. Our server Isaiah was amazing. Super attentive to our needs and added to the amazing experience we had. All a small shout out to Matt They also helped add to the experience. We will definitely be returning soon. I'm looking forward to trying out a few other things on the menu (Detroit style pizza) read more

Worst place ever!!! Long wait, and the food is under 2 stars. I can get frozen food from Trader Jon's across the street and I guarantee you it will be much better. I ordered the fried chicken plate and it was the worst chicken I ever tasted to the point where I just put it out on the street for animals to eat. The pleace also is overpriced for the quality of food!!! Never coming back even if the food is free. read more

I went here with a party of 2. The wait was about an hour, but it was packed. The service was excellent I didn't have to wait at all to order, for food, or drink and the atmosphere is great. However I didn't love the food. Nothing was bad I just didn't love it. I got the fish and chips and my friend got a salad. Portion sizes are adequate. Probably won't be back due to not loving the food, but it would be a good spot to grab a drink - they're a little expensive but they're pretty good read more

The ambiance was great, however, expect a 2+ hour wait on the weekend. The food was....okay. I ordered the Steak Frites, substituting the arugula salad for a house side salad. The best thing about the night was the live music and the drinks. The Evil Jungle Princess was amazing! They added dry spices on top, and the charred lime was a nice touch. The Peaches and Rye cocktail was sweet and flavorful. Overall, we will return to try a few different items. read more

This place is simply delightful. Lisa one of the managers made our night. We had waited at another restaurant for dinner, waited 25 minutes with no service (we had been seated for our reservation) and left. Culinary Dropout completely fixed our mood. Delicious food, attentive service and a great time. We tried several of the appetizers (highly recommend the waygu pigs in a blanket). And their pizza and pasta is to die for. Go here!!! It's tasty and perfect for both couples and families with older children alike. read more

The wings did not have any seasoning. Bland with no flavor. The service was good. The restaurant fills up fast during lunch. We sat at the bar. read more

Me and my mom went out for dinner here for the first time and it was great! I had the Pub Burger and she had the fish and chips-- both were fantastic and filling. We sat at the bar because there was a 2 hour wait time for a table (we went on a Thursday evening). Disappointing but not unusual for a new, popular restaurant. However, as a customer, it was really depressing seeing all these open tables (numerous on the patio and inside) that weren't being sat. While from a serving standpoint, I understand that you only have so much staff available, it was frustrating to see so many missed opportunities for faster seating purely for staffing reasons. The overall vibe and look of the place was amazing! Every bartender looked comfortable behind such a large bar, and our bartender was very kind and personable (can't remember her name, but she wore all blue jean material and a tie dye hat!). That said, while the food was great, there were VERY few options. The drink menu was twice the size of the food menu, and there wasn't much that was too new or interesting on the food menu (besides the Korean steak option). For the price, I was hoping for some more variety. All in all, a good experience and very nice staff! (I accidentally got hit with a broken plate shard that bounced off the ground, and they comped my drink!) Congratulations to the restaurant on what seems like a successful opening and thank you to the manager Payton (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong) for checking in with us before we left. I would go back for drinks and apps, but might wait a bit more to see if they expand their food menu for entrees. read more

We had the opportunity to attend the soft launch of Culinary dropout and we loved it! Live music, great ambiance, and fun vibes. We ate their for Sunday Brunch and everything we got was delicious. Everything was amazing, the food, the atmosphere, the people who work here love their job and it shows. Happy hour menu is fire! I was here for the first day and the team really blew it out the park. The cocktails were super unique, definitely try the endless summer margarita it has a honey habanero infused salt that is one of a kind! The food was out of this world. Skirt steak and pastrami turkey is the way to go! read more

For months we watched for this place to open - but reading its press about it being - a "sports bar with music" - didn't hold a lot of promise. Luckily/surprisingly - we happened to drive by on a Sunday and it's parking lot was full so we pulled in to be told it was a "soft opening" and we needed an invitation. We used our age to get a "sympathy" exception and were seated at the big round bar in the center of the room - and discovered that for two - these seats were perfect. From what we now consider to be "our seats" every Sunday -we're on the front row to watch "Lex" as she shakes/mixes/and pours perfectly measured cocktails - like a machine - mesmerizing! TJ backs her up and makes sure that the coffee is perfectly hot for my friend, and always full, and having become accustomed to our idiosyncrasies - makes sure our food comes to us exactly the way we like it. I do believe we've had all but one item on the menu - but our favorites: the brussels sprouts with gojuchang seasoning - amazing - the tahini appetizer with the incredible toast points - the smoked Salmon appetizer - the pork belly nachos - yummm - and even the housemade chips!!!! The burger is amazing - the 36 hour ribs so tender (I get them with the sauce on the side) - the prime rib sandwich with au jus-just wow! They do a great version of "fish and chips" - and their salads are complex and flavorful. But I think the thing we appreciate the most is the ambiance the managers have created in this work space, and how the employees are encouraged to be their best selves, and how that allows them to make us feel like we're their favorite guests..... read more

I was on my toes waiting for this restaurant to open! CD is my favorite place in scottsdale, and Birmingham was a great choice for another location! 100000/10 Great service, food, drinks, and vibe! read more

The two stars are for the wait staff and the good drinks we ordered at the bar. The food was a definite miss. The caesar salad with added shrimp was comical. The shrimp were tiny and had no flavor. The dressing was decent but the salad had two croutons and the portion was really small for the price point. I've had better salad at a Publix salad bar. We tried the sausage and pepperoni pizza and it needed more sauce as it was too dry. Also, the Parmesan crust tasted burnt. We also ordered the Korean steak which had a nice flavor but it was really fatty and the dish was mostly vegetables. It was just a small piece of steak with mushrooms and bean sprouts, no sides or salad accompanied the dish. It was more of an appetizer dish. For $38, I would think there would be more to this entree. I travel to Alabama often and I would not come back here. This was a one and done deal. read more

Comfortable ambiance but overpriced, mediocre food. Do not mind paying for excellence but the food was lacking flavor, presentation, and under met expectations. Chicken was undercooked in the center and biscuit was dry. Skirt steak was tough and chewy. read more

I really wanted to give CD 5 stars. The service and ambiance was great, it really was! Unfortunately, the food was not. For the price, it was minimal on taste and portion. I am completely aware of the issue we are having with the cost of food, so do understand that I am willing to pay well for good food. This was not it. I heard poor reviews of CD but I never wanted to just take someone's word for it... well, it checks out. I hope this is temporary and that there will be improvements later. I would love to try it again once things get better. read more

My wife and I attempted to give the establishment a shot on a Friday afternoon. It was moderately busy. We were welcomed in by the bartender with two waters and a menu after about five minutes. We were never acknowledged again. After waiting to order for 25 minutes we walked out. Very disappointing. The service was deplorable. read more

Delicious brunch. All the orders were fantastic and the mimosas were also excellent although pricey.

We came for my fiancé's birthday so I made a reservation and we were seated right away, the food was very good, drinks were good and the turnaround on food to table was great. Our service however was not the greatest, our server Asiah was not the friendliest, she didn't introduce herself, she just sat there antipasti menu on the table with no explanation, she wasn't too helpful with the menu. She did check on us periodically but I'd say her customer service definitely needs work. Will probably visit again to see if my experience changes. read more

10 out of 10 recommend! service was on point! Food amazing! The black truffle mushroom pizza is the best!!

Went early on a week night. Average food prices to high. Had the Korean ribeye Cap steak and it was avg but small portion for $33. Friend had kale salad with shrimp. It came out without the shrimp. Instead of bringing out the shrimp separate they took the bowl back and she had nothing to eat for a while. Staff was nice enough but they dressed like kids with fanny packs. There just didn't seem to be an over all theme. I would give it a high C grade overall but not worth the price and not worth the traffic at the summit. I would not recommend to friends. read more

Culinary Dropout is a great edition to the Summit. Longer wait times so take that into consideration. Very nice ambiance with heating elements for colder weather. The Pizza Hut was great, definitely 5 stars!!! We will be back. Sweet server was so nice!
