Food first, thoughts after... Let me just say the service was amazing. Our waitress was a cultured young woman who did an amazing job checking in on us and guiding us. We chose the restaurant because we were staying at the hotel. I would say dishes wise they are more on the sweet size. The potato crips had jam around them. The lamb had a sweet glaze on top. We came to the Ross Bridge restaurant as a group of 10 girls for my friend's bachelorette spa day, expecting a fun and relaxing brunch before our massages. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences I've had. I called several days ahead to ask about reserving a table and was told brunch was first come, first serve only. To make sure we could sit together, two of us arrived at 9:30 AM for our 10:00 brunch plans. We were initially told we could either sit outside split between two tables or wait about 20 minutes for a table inside together. We agreed to wait. After waiting 40 minutes, they attempted to seat us... split between two tables inside anyway. At that point, what was the purpose of waiting nearly an hour? We declined and chose to wait longer so our group could actually sit together. During all of this, several staff members acted as though our group was a huge inconvenience. There was rude behavior, dismissive attitudes, obvious staring, and even employees giving fake names when asked. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were bothering them simply by being there. We finally got seated around 10:45. Our waitress was polite, but service was painfully slow. Right after ordering, I explained that we had massages beginning at noon and asked if she could prepare our checks early so we could leave on time. There was no sense of urgency about this, everything was still extremely slow and took way longer than expected. It took 30 minutes just for us to receive a mimosa, and then another 40-45 for food. Mind you we still have appointments at the spa which the staff were aware of. Around 1130, right after we got the food, I reminded her again that we urgently needed our checks to make our appointments. She assured us they'd be out within 15 minutes, but we didn't end up signing checks until almost 11:50. We then had to rush across the resort stressed and late for what was supposed to be a relaxing spa experience. What should have been a low-stress, celebratory brunch before my friend's wedding became chaotic and disappointing. The food was fine but overall terrible experience. Between the disorganization, poor communication, rude staff, and extremely slow service, this experience completely missed the mark. I would not return to this restaurant and would strongly recommend eating elsewhere before coming to the resort. read more

We always stay at the Renaissance when we come to Birmingham mostly because of this restaurant. We usually do their breakfast buffet but this time we tried dinner. It did not disappoint!! It's amazing how a server can make a meal ... or break it. We have breakfast at Brock's this am to celebrate a special day. Food was very good, especially the omelets. However, our wait service was subpar. Our server did the bare minimum while others helped to pick up the slack. We had to ask for drink refills each time (when we asked, our server's response was like, yeah, yeah, I'll get to it) and our server did not remove our plates when we were finished. At the over $30 price point for brunch, I expect more. Very disappointing. read more

Very good experience on Saturday morning with my wife and another couple. We all went for the breakfast buffet and it was really good. The fresh omelet and the croissant French toast with strawberry syrup were top choices. The service was excellent. The price is steep so prepare yourself but for a splurge it was worth it. read more

Great service, not the best food. Our server Dakota was amazing, but the food was subpar. We ordered the prawn and mussels for a starter. I love prawns but the taste was off. The Red snapper and lamp chops were great, but every single side we tried was bad: asparagus, potatoes, and the risotto. I pray the chef goes back to the drawing board here, as the meats were great, but not much else- even the bread was off. read more

We had a great time on mother's Day at Brock's. The hotel restaurant tends to have buffet brunches on most of the holiday weekends, and Mother's Day was no exception. They offer a wide variety of breakfast items, freshly sliced beef or ham, salads, and fresh decadent desserts. Seating is available both indoors or outside. On this date, it was a bit hot outside so we chose to sit inside. For our party of two, there was no wait - larger parties should arrive early if waiting is going to be an issue. Drinks were refilled consistently by Debra, who was a pleasure to have as a server. We will certainly be back on both holidays and many other days. read more

Ok, we came today to have breakfast before playing golf. This is my first time eating breakfast here outside of the fabulous buffet on the weekend. I must truly say that it was just as great as the weekend buffet. I had the mushroom omelet and the French toast. The omelet is filled with potatoes, diced ham, jalapeños and feta cheese. First time eating here since the renovations and I must say we were impressed. We love Brock's for a date night experience and this visit was one of the best due to the delicious food and great customer service we received. There was a small hiccup with our reservation which was quickly remedied by the manager. Wasn't my favorite visit. From our waiter to the food it was ok. Frittata was cold in places the French toast was eggy and mushy (good taste but not prepared well. My omelet was very good! (Made to order)our waiter was so quick to bring the check (stating no rush) but when we needed water or even silverware we had to request and find him! Short Review: RUN AWAY! Seriously. I've had both dinner and breakfast here. The food is disgusting and expensive. Everything. I eat out 70% of my meals each week. This is probably the 2nd worst place I've eaten in my life. You've been warned! Long Review: Brock's is the "fine dining" restaurant at the Renaissance, and they should be ashamed of themselves to call it that. The wine list is actually decent. Stop there. Please! I ordered the cheese flatbread to start. How can you mess up a 4-cheese flatbread? By undercooking the bread and the wrong mix of four cheeses. I then ordered the mushroom risotto for my entree. What I got was what looked like rice pudding! There were 2 half-shredded mushrooms in the bowl. Really? Cut asparagus. And way too much mushroom sauce (or whatever the hell it was). They tried to top it off with shaved parmesan too. Didn't help. I ate about 1/4 of it. I then asked for 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream to wash down the horrible taste in my mouth. She brought me a scoop of coagulated gelato. I hate gelato. I hate coagulated anything. Aren't you supposed to throw old food away? I then made the mistake of thinking they couldn't screw up breakfast, so like a fool, I went back. None of the menu items are anything you'd put together regularly for breakfast, so I opted for the $21 buffet. Unlike a lot of buffets, they make you pancakes from scratch here, in addition to the omelettes. The pancakes were the skinniest things I'd ever seen, and not fluffy. What's the point? The omelette was fine; the usual of what you get at a buffet. The coffee...eh. Why did I waste my time and money again? 1 star is the lowest I can go, so that's what they get. This restaurant was decent nothing really that special about it. My waitress was very nice. I ordered the gazpacho which was a gazpacho and to me wasn't cold enough for a cold soup. Then I had the melon salad with burrata which was probably my favorite thing I ordered. It was served on a Himalayan salt block which could over power at some points. But was very tasty overall. And the. I ordered the chicken flatbread that had a pesto sauce and was kind of dry and blah. My dirty martini was made perfectly. I ordered the chocolate dessert and it was pretty good. Ice cream. Pretty good resort/golf club dining.... This is the restaurant at Ross Bridge Resort... much better than the average hotel restaurant. Great service - our waiter was very attentive and helpful. They claim to be Mediterranean, but there were plenty of "Steak and Potatoes" type offerings. Upscale surroundings and decor. Nice views... Four of us ate dinner. Started with a huge selection of Antipasti - Mushrooms, Dried Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic, Prosciutto, Bresaola, Manchego, some dried ham, etc... Great Mediterranean starter. They had a column of cheeses, one of meats, one of vegetables. We got the "pick three from each column" selection for $14. Excellent. We skipped the salad, preferring to hit the desert menu later. They have a good selection of wines. We went with a Wild Horse Pinot Noir for $40 which is the low end, but we are familiar with this bottle - and it's just fine. Maybe a $15 to $20 dollar bottle at your local retailer. ADVICE TO WAIT STAFF - The only complaint that I had was the inconsistent distribution of the bottle into 4 glasses... Pet peeve of mine. Don't try to pour 4 glasses evenly in one rotation unless you are good at it - 175ML should be in each glass - I'm guessing one had 100 and one had 275. Not a good thing. You would not expect one steak to be 3 times the size of another. They have Grilled flat breads, Tapas, Pasta. Again we passed. All 4 of us selected the Tenderloin @ $38. It came with a sweet potato casserole and broccollini, I asked for the polenta cake, dried tomatoes, and asparagus that came with the Ribeye - sounded more interesting to me. Not a problem and it was well prepared. Steaks were grass fed, I suppose it's a bit unusual to find restaurants serving grass fed. They were cooked to perfection, in spite of 4 different requests for desired doneness. Desert was a real killer. Berry and Rhubarb Cobbler with Vanilla Gellato (hope i spelled that right), Bread Pudding - which was HUGE and GOOD, also with a scoop of ice cream of some sort (I declare this to be the winner - and suggest that it was enough for two) - The other side of the table shared something like a creme brulee, to be honest, it gets lost in the excitement over the bread pudding. My son and daughter-in-law have eaten there several times. I would go back. Christmas Eve 2016. I've been staying at the hotel eating breakfast here. Multiple times. The breakfast is, for all practical purposes, 'as good as it gets'. The menu is excellent. Eggs Benedict to simple two egg breakfast. They all are about $15. Coffee is superb. Their buffet is simply amazing. The pans used to serve are the first clue. They are heavy, heated, with counter sprung lids, about as impressive as you will see. A zucchini frittata was a high point. Conecuh Country sausage which happens to be a favorite of mine, Prosciutto ham... omelets cooked with an extensive list of ingredients. I has mushrooms and brie cheese. Hostess Terry never stops working to find a place for guests. Chief Billy is a patient gem at egg station who will get it just right. Server Camilla is indefatigable at getting guests exactly what they want inside or outside. The FOOD is FABULOUS! The smoked salmon, sweet rolls, ham casserole, and beautifully presented fresh fruit are all you need, but do NOT miss the croissant French toast with BANANA's FOSTER SAUCE. It is exquisite. The grill master at the poolside turns out wonderful grilled chicken. Meghan at the bar is very strong and treats each guest as if they are the first and only of the day. What ever they are paid, it is not enough. Only negative is that 19th hole restaurant serves crab claws, but has no fish forks to get it out. read more

We had breakfast here twice, during our stay. They have a buffet, which we didn't have the appetite for and we thought was overpriced, so we chose to order from the menu. The waitstaff were friendly but young and inexperienced and it took forever to get our food. I think the priority in the kitchen is given to room service and keeping the buffet filled. The waitstaff made silly errors like not asking how we wanted our eggs cooked and bringing cream when we asked for milk. My poached eggs came with one egg whites runny and the other poached medium. Can't imagine how the chef managed it. We decided it wasn't worth the time or the money and drove offsite for the rest of our breakfasts. read more

We celebrated a friend's birthday here and had a wonderful brunch. The selections were varied - shrimp, bacon, sausage, salmon- and the service was attentive. Our server, Jennifer, brought our waffle, with banana foster's syrup and butter, to our table as soon as it was prepared. She kept our juice, coffee and water flowing. We had a group of six and Brock's accommodated us at a nice round table, but it was right by the entrance and foot traffic was distracting. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. We started with the 24 piece antipasti. We all thought it was great and I would recommend it to anyone. For $27, it was loaded with cheeses, meats, olives, peppers, and pickled items. The wine list was adequate and the selections were good. Our entrees were delivered quickly. My Bolognese pasta was excellent. The Airline chicken got raves at the table. The "Elevaton" dessert was outstanding. Overall, the food was worth the experience, the ambience was good and would have been better if we were seated in a better place, the wines were complimentary, and the service was top notch. Today I got a little spa time in with my sister. We each had massages and additional services. She opted for the pedicure and I for the mini facial. The place itself is lovely. Being a resident of Atlanta, I am familiar with a lot of "Spas" so it was pleasant to arrive at a place where from start to finish they treated you like royalty. Even though we only booked two services each we were given robes and shoes and told we could enjoy all of the amenities for the day. We spent time in the whirlpool, read and relaxed in the guest area, and finished up in the steam room. I felt pretty accomplished as I was able to read, send emails, catch up on work and then just do nothing for an ENTIRE SUNDAY! Talk about getting refreshed before work! The rooms themselves were kept clean and well stocked. If an employee was coming in at anytime to clean or replenish they always checked on myself, my sister and the other guests. There was water, tea, and snacks ready and available to each of us along with popular magazines, ottomans, towels, and other items to be comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were never crowded and came fully equipped. We even had the option to brush our teeth there if we wanted. Each of our services were pretty decent. For the massages please be warned...if you know your stuff and want an experienced massuess I'd ask for them specifically and be sure to stress that when you are booking the appointment. They were just "ok" this afternoon and while that may sit well with some people, I don't like paying $125 for a deep tissue massage that doesn't relax me or make a difference. I'm a serious athlete and I stress that no matter what place i go to, so I expect them to deliver. My massuess was awkward and clumsy. I was glad when that part of the day was over. My aesthetician however did a GREAT job on my mini facial. She was conversational but not too talkative, very gentle, and thorough. Next go round I'm trying a body treatment and a longer facial. I think it's safe to say I'll stick with my regular massuess at home. I don't want to risk disappointment anymore. Overall great place! I was staying at the ross bridge hotel with some friends and we went to this restaurant which is in the hotel. We could not understand most of the menu and a friend of mine got the scallops. When she bit in to them they were sweet, slimy, and frankly raw. We asked the server to take it back but he didn't remove it from our bill saying that "that's how we always cook it" sorry sir but if you're cooking it like that then you're sending people home sick! read more

The food was delicious! I ordered the Salmon and Brie salad and loved it, the only thing that kept me from that fifth star is that the service was so-so. Not bad but not necessarily great either. My friend has been going to eat here for years and he decided to take me out and I'm so glad he took me to this new place! All in all, we had a really nice dinner. We enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas brunch at Brocks. Dinner was good, although not worthy of the pricing, even taking into consideration the resort overhead. A one star deduction for lack of value. So, I have to deduct stars for value. I had the pasta carbonara, which was fine but nothing special. Overall, it was bland and lite on bacon. And a one star deduction. My brother-in-law had the beef filet, which was excellent but $20 more than it should have been. Jessica took care of us. I think she is management, but it being Christmas Eve, she jumped in to keep things moving. In any event, she was very gracious and hospitable. The brunch was excellent, and while I probably will never eat $20 of breakfast food in one sitting, I gave a valiant effort. The croissant French toast was delicious, as was the conecah sausage (really the best sausage in all the land). Ross bridge is a very nice facility, beautiful grounds, and a good place to park for a few days if you need to. read more

The food was excellent. I had the scallops. He had the steak. Both were fabulous. Service was great. The chef kept coming out to make sure everyone had what they wanted. We also had a couple of appetizers. They were SMALL, but I guess they are appetizers. The entrees are a better value, tho the caprese salad was delicious as was the four cheese flatbread, but, like I said, not quite the value for the $$. We also had the breakfast brunch the following morning. $17, worth it!! Great variety, omlette bar, lox, fruit, GRITS (it is Alabama), and everything else you could possible want.
