I had not been here in years, so I decided to plan a dinner with some friends. I arrive there about 6 PM and they're happy hours till 630 so I did get a margarita on the rocks. It was very delicious and Tyler was our bartender I believe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar area is so classy and they also have discounted appetizers from 4 to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had made reservations about a month in advance because I knew it was gonna be a party about seven or eight of us. Mabry was our server and she was very attentive. I usually get the crabcakes, but I decided to go with the nachos appetizer, but it was big enough for a meal so that's all that I got. On the description, it says spicy ground beef, but the server assured me that it was not spicy and she was correct. I got a salad before my meal with poppyseed dressing and it was so fresh. The tomatoes exploded in my mouth. And to end the evening, I have the peanut butter pie, but forgot to take a picture of it, but I did take a picture of the cheesecake that my friend got. I will definitely be back sooner than later

Great spot to eat if you are shopping at the Summit! The bacon jam burger was amazing! Wonderful service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Upscale restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was there today for my birthday month promotion that gives $10.00 towards your meal. I ordered Prime Rib with Aujus , sweet potato fries and Asparagus, it was cooked to perfection! I love it. This meal really made my day! Service is fast and the server is very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambience is superb.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Surely will be back even if it's not my birthday. Thank you Village Tavern for my yearly treat.

I was in Birmingham for a work trip and our team chose dinner at Village Tavern. We were a large group, and the staff handled it well. Service was pleasant, attentive, and genuinely friendly throughout the evening. Given the size of our party, the food took a little longer to come out, but it was understandable. Everything that hit the table looked impressive. I originally ordered the Halibut Hemingway, but they were out of halibut, so I opted for trout instead. The flavor was solid, well-seasoned, and the portion was generous. We started with several appetizers, and the standout was the Shanghai Flash-Fried Calamari. It was bold, flavorful, and had a nice zing that made it hard to stop eating. For dessert, we ordered a variety to share. The clear winner for me was the cheesecake. It was rich, balanced, and a great way to end the meal. Overall, a great choice for a team dinner with reliable food and strong service.

The food was a experience. The spring rolls was the appetizer and the was delicious. The chicken went well with the Napa cabbage. The sauces was great for dipping. I loved the orange sauce it had a little kick to it but not to much. The old Fashion was made to perfection the citrus balance kicked the cocktail up another notch. The grilled meat loaf was amazing this was my first time eating meat loaf with gravy. Chef kiss!!!!! The service was great reminded me of a Michelin service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was soft lite and easy on the eyes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I shall return

I enjoyed the salad very much , the service was very friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place is clean and not too noisy[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Will definitely come back and recommend it highly.

I've been for lunch many times but not for dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seating in the main dining area, which is a bit louder than other areas I've been seated, probably because of the higher ceiling. Wasn't so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves like other places, though[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I got the chicken alfredo, which came with broccoli. It was pretty good. I've also previously had the meatloaf which was good, too. I definitely recommend their mashed potatoes and gravy. The staff is always attentive and pleasant.

Our family loves to go to Village Tavern for brunch. We love ordering the crabcake Benedict. The service is always really good and the food is even better. I don't like eggs and I always get a substitution and they're always very reasonable with what my options can be.

I arrived before a friend and decided to sit at the bar. I was seated there for at least five minutes before she arrived, and even after she got there it took another 5-10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We arrived around 7ish, and although the restaurant was crowded and lively at first, service did not improve as the night went on and people started to leave.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've only dined here for brunch before, so this was my first evening visit. Drink-wise, Village Tavern delivered--I ordered the French pear martini, the tropical cosmo, and a lemon drop, and all were very nice. My friend ordered the Brussels sprouts and the Cajun seafood fettuccine and thoroughly enjoyed her meal. I'd come back for the drinks for sure and to try more dinner options, but I probably wouldn't sit at the bar again and would hope for better service next time

Ask for Briana!!! She provided my party of 3 with the most engaged service during my recent visit. She was great! Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks. I was sad to learn that they no longer have steak fries. I was devastated!!! I really was..... [[HIGHLIGHT]]Village Tavern is always pretty solid. The vibe here is really relaxed and casual but still offers great service & quality food[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].

Ordered the prime rib and it was great!! But what made our first visit to Village Tavern in Birmingham truly special was our server, Rebecca. She made the experience one of the best restaurant visits we've had. Thank you, Rebecca! We'll definitely be back.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun time for lunch on a Saturday![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just dropped in while on a road trip--Stephen was our outstanding server! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quiet and comfortable place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The brioche French toast was excellent, rich and gooey! Served with great hash browns, freshly prepared with lots of onions! Hubby had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans!

Came for a work lunch with my team. We had reservations so we were seated once everyone arrived. Our server, Courtney, was so kind and personable. He was funny too. Made us feel at home. We ordered several apps. I picked the calamari, no peanuts and sauces to the side. I guess I adjusted it too much because it ended up being bland. I tasted the crab dip, it was pretty good with those yummy pitas. I didn't taste any others but I didn't hear any complaints. I ordered the seafood pasta as my entrée. It was a huge portion with tons of shrimp and sausage and some large scallops too. It was petty good. My buddy ordered the blackened salmon and shrimp and the portions were also large. There was the sashimi app, which was enjoyed by my peer as her entrée. My manager had a salad that randomly came with a tiny blueberry muffin. We all ordered various desserts to go. Butter cake was my choice... it didn't disappoint.

We decided to come on a Friday night I did make reservations beforehand and I highly suggest making them especially on the weekend and you can make them online through their website. On this evening, they had Tyler Giddens playing his keyboard and singing along. He was very good and I was able to chat with his wife and she told me that he plays around town so I definitely look forward to hearing his music again. Fowler was our server and he was very attentive. We started off with the brussels sprouts and the pork belly nachos. They were both equally delicious. Last time I was here I got the chicken tacos and I was so impressed. I got them again. My son got the Mac burger, which he completely devoured. My brother got the short ribs which he enjoyed. He also got a to go Mac burger as well. This time instead of Mississippi mud pie I got the monkey bread which was very delicious and it had apples in it as well. I love how the staff gets to wear whatever they want, and they can express their style. I did visit the restrooms and they were very clean. The only negative is sometimes the parking lot is real busy and if it is, you kinda have to park across the street. It's not a far walk but a lot of the drivers at the Summit area. They tend to drive crazy. I will definitely be back. I haven't had a bad meal here since I've been coming. Not sure why, but it wouldn't let me post any more pictures.

Only took me two years but I finally had a chance to sample!…read more As much as I hated Macaroni Grill leaving, I was excited to hear that Culinary Dropout was going to be in Birmingham. Sharing a parking lot with PF Changs at the Summit, CD has ample parking and right at the corner of 280 and 459 so finding the place would not be a problem. It's actually in a great location at the Summit where you can have a nice meal, then head over to the AMC practically next door for a movie or go shopping at the shops at the Summit. Backed by James Beard-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox, CD now has 13 locations nationwide with this one opening back in March of 2024. Thus, the restaurant looks great with high vaulted ceilings, brick patterned walls and a clean contemporary look with booths and tables scattered throughout. There's a nice large bar that serves beer, wine and cocktails. Above the bar are large screen tvs and to the side is a small carved out area with a small stage for live entertainment. They can entertain group dining and with the tvs, bar and a stage, a nice gathering can be had for all. Outdoor covered seating is also available making a cool weather brunch outside a nice option. Their menu is diverse but comprehensive and include everything sandwiches and soups to pastas and burgers. Some of the stand-outs on their menu include Detroit Pizza, Fried Chicken, Rainbow Trout, Roasted Salmon, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Korean Style Ribeye, Meatloaf and 36 Hour Slow Roasted Pork Ribs marinated in jalapeno BBQ sauce. One of my favorites was the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue starter that I had heard so much about. The bowl of round pretzel balls coated with just the right amount of salt arrived soon after our drinks. A small little cast iron bowl filled with provolone cheese rested on a base with a tea light underneath to keep the cheese warm. Tearing open a pretzel ball, dipping in the cheese... Yom Yom Yom Yom! Our table ordered Fish & Chips, Prime Rib Dip sandwich and Fried Chicken. I tried some of Jeff's beer battered fish. Fried to a beautiful golden brown, the crispy batter hid a tender, flaky cod (I believe) that was delicious. Tammy got the prime rib dip sandwich. It arrived with a small cup of au jus, fries and a slice of pickle. Tammy enjoyed her sandwich but wished there was a little more fontina cheese and horseradish creme fraiche. I sampled the fried chicken plate. Be ready to get messy with your hands because it normally consists of a leg, thigh and half of a breast. The nicely fried seasoned breaded exterior had just the right crunch revealing steaming juicy chicken underneath. Yom Yom Yom Yom. My buttermilk biscuit had a nice golden coat with a soft fluffy center. The coleslaw was also delicious. But my mash potatoes with gravy was dry. If we had received our meal 10 mins earlier, it would've been perfect. I suspect that our four top was left under the warming lamp a little too long before it was served. Prices have a wide range from 12 to 42. CD's ability to make a reservation online is a big plus. We were able to make a reservation the day of on a busy holiday weekend. It also happened to be storming during our visit and the lights even flickered for a second resetting their Direct TV and FIFA Soccer feeds, but we were fortunate that the restaurant and kitchen didn't have to close due to a power failure. It can get loud especially if they have live entertainment. The high ceiling helps with the high decibels, but CD may not be your spot for a quiet romantic dinner unless you're in one of their private rooms. Our server Eva was very attentive and never let our drinks get too low. Even the floor manager Taylor stopped by our table to welcome us. CD is a great place for a good time. They host live music, local bands, games, private dining and group celebrations. I look forward to returning and trying the Salmon next time. Welcome to Birmingham, Culinary Dropout!

This is a spot with a heavy regular rotation. The people of Mountain Brook/Vestavia are here for dinner. It's a specific crowd. Service was great, the waitstaff is very friendly and on top of things. My dad ordered the "Magic City Manhattan" -- I'm not normally a dark liquor person, but I thought this was fantastic. I think it was the pecan liquor which made it so good. We split the muscles appetizer, which was great. The broth was so warm, garlicky, acidic, perfect. Love. And the bread that came with was great, too. If I'm being picky, the bread services' butter could've been more room-temp and easier to spread. But that's me being extremely picky. We ordered the lamb chop entree to split, too. Again, great. This is a fantastic spot if you're not looking to travel downtown for dinner. Easy menu, crowd pleasing. Definitely suited for an older crowd, which can be harder to find in the downtown spots.

My guest tonight is a healthy eater, so the menu was perfect. Lots of farm to table options, vegetarian options, as well as fresh fish and other great proteins. We ended up having the seared tuna with soy pearls, yellow beets, feta and dates, and the spring salad with fried goat cheese, pistachios, apples and raspberries. Everything was fresh, well prepared and delicious. Service is always wonderful. Seating is limited so make reservations as early as possible. Bar seating available first come first served. There's a number of off-menu items so be sure to ask your server! My only complaint is that best tables are held for the "regulars;" so I guess it's time to become a regular at Foodbar.
