    Awesome Seafood Cobb salad!!!
    Catrina T.

Stopped for lunch - was in Birmingham for the R&B Tour. It was PACKED at 3:00 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. The atmosphere was lit. There was a bit of a wait so we stalked the bar area until someone vacated their seats. We were finally seated. We ordered cocktails and crawfish fondue to start. Service was a bit slow as there was only one bartender and the restaurant was packed. Eventually another bartender showed up to help out. I ordered Swamp Thing for my cocktail and my husband ordered Coceaux Loco. Both were good. The fondue tasted ok but was a bit more watery than normal. We ordered etouffee and rainbow trout. The entrees were good, fresh and hot. Service was a bit slow but again it was really crowded. Whenever I'm in Bham, I will be stopping at Pappadeaux for a great meals and good drinks.

Beautiful restaurant, great food, great service! If you are looking for a nice date spot - this is it! Very romantic. Huge bar area. Food did not disappoint.

It's hard for me not to go to Pappadeaux when I'm near one. There was a short wait to be seated & our table was comfortable & clean. Our server was kind & helpful. There's plenty of free parking in the lot. Love: bread (warm, soft & buttery with crispy edges); hot honey gator bites (crispy, balanced sweet & spicy); Mississippi catfish opelousas (can't stop ordering this!) Dislike: sweet potato pecan pie (did not translate well; crust was too stiff)

Is it worth it? Originally started in Texas, this Pappadeux's took over where Ralph n Kacoo's stood off 280. They have been there at that location for over ten years now so they must be doing something right. The restaurant is big and I mean big. The main dining room is spacious with many tables. The adjacent room is filled entirely with a bar for patrons to just hang out, relax and watch some tv. There's also many places "outside" that you can chill as you wait for your table or just eat outside (when it's warm enough). I am aware of how "busy" PSK can be since it's very popular, and we were a 9 top so we made a reservation for 7p especially since it was a Friday night. It was a little annonying that even with our entire party present we weren't seated till about 740. Our server Nylah took our drink orders almost immediately. She went around the table like a pro explaining the specials and offering apps. Our water and teas arrived almost instantly but those of us who got alcohol had to wait a little longer and surprisingly Sarah's Mango lemonade took the longest. Our mozzarella cheese sticks arrived quickly as well. These were some large cheesesticks and stacked presentation was nice. The marinara sauce was also nice... not overly tart. Our party ordered a variety of dishes: Shrimp & Grits, Shrimp Brochette, Pasta Mardi Gras, Redfish Pontchartrain, Blackened Catfish Opelous, Crispy Salmon, Trout & Crab, and seafood gumbo. I was expecting a long wait since we were a 9 top, but our entrees arrived in a reasonable amount of time except Sarah's Crispy Salmon. I had to ask Nylah who checked on the progress. Some of us were almost done by the time Sarah got her Salmon. I can only comment on the dishes I was able to sample. The seafood gumbo was disappointing. When you're at a place that's supposed to elevate your dining, PSK fell a little short. Why am I holding PSK up a couple of notches? Because their prices are also a couple notches higher. I can understand that it's a little challenging when you want to bring out 8 entrees (remember Sarah didn't get hers for awhile after ours) at the same time. Thus my Blackened catfish Opelousas was not as warm as I would've liked it to be when it arrived. The flavor however made up for it. The catfish was blackened nicely. It was covered with crab meat and mussels and served with dirty rice. Yom Yom Yom. It would've been perfect if my entree was served with (or we had some) a biscuit or bread to compliment my sauce (more on this later). My version of exceptional dirty rice leans on the edge of moist to almost dry with the rice almost steaming. This dirty rice was almost too dry albeit it had the right amount of "meat" in it. Tammy's Pasta Mardi Gras was a little warmer than mine. The tomato cream sauce was excellent. The large jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage atop the bed of linguine made a beautiful presentation. It came with some lightly toasted bread. Matthew's Shrimp Brochette also looked beautiful. The grilled shrimp wrapped with bacon with monterey jack cheese was on par with what I was expecting. His dirty rice was as disappointing as mine. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their entrees and most of us enjoyed it enough to make to go boxes for later. It's been a few years since I've been to this or any other Pappadeaux's but I seemed to remember that they provided a complimentary starch such as bread or biscuit, but tonight was not the case. It perturbs me that an elevated dining restaurant like PSK doesn't do this. Come on PSK. In this market and with today's fussy foodies, if you're charging $18 for a bowl of gumbo, you can provide patrons with some complimentary bread and butter. Otherwise, Walk-Ons (and others) are nearby with a solid comparative line up. It was a boisterous and busy Friday dinner crowd which made conversation a little challenging when talking across a 9 top, but that was expected and we had a good time. Nylah was attentive, superb and was just all around in a good mood! When you're dining at this level, there's a certain amount of preconceived expectations and after tonight, there was some room for improvement.

    Dozen oysters

My experience at this (Alabama) location had both positives and negatives. The drinks were good once we received them, but the server initially forgot about our order. She was friendly but inattentive, which resulted in a reminder for our drinks. We chose this location out of convenience, but the Atlanta location has better service and food. The oysters were really good. However, our entrees took a long time to come out, even though the restaurant was only a quarter full. When it did arrive, both dishes were incorrect (server error), but the server did offer to comp them. However, we had to wait a bit longer for the correct dishes to come out. The manager discounted our bill, but it was a strange amount of $11, especially considering the long wait for our food and drinks. Overall, the service was friendly but disorganized when it came to details. On a positive note the food was delicious once corrected. And once we asked for the manager to explain the $11 off the bill, he ended up comping the entree.

The food is always delicious. If you have never been you have to get the fondue ( the biggest life hack is to also order a side of fries to dip). Their Greek salad has the best dressing. I have never had anything I've disliked from here, though I do tend to shy away from getting fried seafood. I'm an oyster girly so I get them both ways. The raw oysters were a little big for my liking, but the ponzu mignonette is fire. The drinks are good, the 3 wheel motion is my favorite but I opted for a peach sidecar at the suggestion of our bartender Jerome. Service was good not great, but one of the bartenders was training and will ultimately find his footing. Crème brûlée is phenomenal. I love this place I'm so glad Birmingham has a location! Sit at the bar, when you go to ensure prompt service. They are a chain restaurant and their decor reflects that, but they are also a scratch kitchen and their food is solid.

Stopped in Pappadeaux's in Birmingham for the first time while in town, and it did not disappoint! I had the Pasta Mardi Gras and swapped the crawfish for shrimp--delicious! The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the portion was very generous for the price. Service was great and fast, and everyone was friendly without being overbearing. The ambience inside is average, not too loud, making it easy to enjoy your meal and conversation. They have a huge bar with plenty of whiskey options, though the beer selection isn't very wide if that's what you're looking for. There's also very ample space and an outdoor patio with a water fountain, making it a nice spot to sit and relax before or after your meal. A bonus: they give a free dessert if you're celebrating a birthday, which is a nice touch. Overall, the food quality and quantity were excellent, and prices were very reasonable. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in Birmingham!

Well, I had not been to Pappas in a very long time. We went for lunch but there aren't any lunch prices anymore. The server was awesome and she smiled the entire time we were there. I had my bday coupon and that's why we went. The place was very clean and the music was old school. I can say the food was still good but the prices going up so much made me think of other alternatives for good seafood.

Nice place for a surprise birthday party. All enjoyed the dishes they chose. Not my first time being here and I have never been disappointed., this time I had the Atlantic salmon. Cooked to perfection as medium well. Salmon should be ordered as though yo were ordering steak.our servers were point on. We had two. Ours was Alcedra N and she pampered us. Know it's company policy to add a 20% gratuity to parties of 8 or more but according to the receipt your gratuity is up to you. I always choose to honor the request.

Had a great experience here on NYE! We made a reservation for 6:45pm and were seated around 7:05pm due to the crowd. Our waitress, Jordan, was great!! I had the Rainbow Trout with Jumbo Lump Crab, broccolini, and dirty rice. All amazing! I started with a house salad, a glass of wine and a the Shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux.

This review is solely based on my visit here to pick up a gift card. The hostesses greeted me and directed me to the bar for assistance. I was immediately helped by the bartender. I was able to complete my transaction pretty quickly. The service was fast & friendly! The gift card packaging is very classy and professional.

I decided to use the boudin as a 'dip' and scooped it up with the chips. Ooo-ee that was good. I had the Blackened Shrimp with sides of red beans and rice and gouda grits. My friends arrived about 15 minutes before I did and were seated on the patio. When I arrived, the hostess escorted me to join them. We reviewed the menu and waited for our server to greet us, offer water, or take our drink order. That never happened. After sitting there for more than 35 minutes, not a single employee acknowledged our table. No server stopped by, no one offered water, and no one checked to see if we had been helped. We were essentially invisible. I finally had to get up and speak with the hostess, who immediately moved us inside. The manager came over, apologized sincerely for the oversight, and offered us a complimentary appetizer, which I appreciated. While he handled the situation professionally once he became aware of it, it should never have reached that point in the first place. What was most disappointing wasn't the wait--it was feeling completely ignored. At a restaurant known for its exceptional service and premium dining experience, being overlooked for over half an hour without even a glass of water is unacceptable. I've always had excellent experiences at other Perry's locations, so this visit was especially surprising.
