This food truck came to our neighborhood. I was super excited to try it. I got the seafood gumbo. It was really good and had great flavor. Hubs got the swamp burger. That thing was HUGE! He really liked it as well. The kid got the pasta. She said she liked it but didn't eat much of it so maybe not. Lol We also decided to try the hurricane w no alcohol and the bread pudding. Hubs added his own alcohol but didn't love it. He would probably skip that next time. Bread pudding had a bit of a boozy bourbon sauce. It was very good but heavy! I only could eat half. I will be happy to order from this food truck again.

This Food Truck was in a nearby neighborhood 04/13/2021. I was drawn to the Crawfish Pizza, something a little different. I made it out a little early, so the line wasn't long at all. I placed my order and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I told the young man I would be in my car and he took my number to give me a call when ready. Overall, a pleasant experience. The crawfish pizza is topped with crawfish, peppers, onions, sausage, and mozzarella. This pizza was absolutely delicious!!! I think with each bite, there was crawfish and sausage. The toppings were evenly distributed. If ever near again, I will definitely check them out and venture to order the AndyGator burger, beef and alligator. Maybe. . . we shall see. I may just stick with the gumbo, red beans and rice, or shrimp and grits.

I love a good food truck experience. Slag Heap brewing in Trussville featured this food truck , so I decided to give it a try. Prior to making the trip to Slag Heap, I was able to review the Gumbo on the Geaux menu. FYI, there is a good truck app ( Food Truck Pub), which is amazing because I was able to place my order and schedule my desired pick up time. I highly recommend this app if you love food trucks like me! When I arrived for pickup , my food was being bagged. I couldn't get home fast enough to dig in! I guess I should tell you all what I ordered and my thoughts on the food. Ok, I ordered the seafood gumbo , red beans and rice , fried okra and bread pudding. Yes, all of this!! Honestly, my least favorite was the fried okra. It was fried up beautifully but lacked flavor. Everything else was out of world!!! The 10 oz seafood gumbo was extremely good. Loaded with seafood and the perfect amount of rice and seasonings. The best seafood gumbo I've had in a really long time. So so good! The red beans and rice presentation was so pretty and the taste did not disappoint. I was impressed with the portion size and everything about this dish hit all the right spots on my pallet. Last but not least , the bread pudding. I am quickly becoming a fan of bread pudding! The whiskey sauce took this bread pudding over the top and I enjoyed every bite! As you can tell , this food truck experience was great! I highly recommend you track them down real soon. Their menu did not disappoint and I can't wait to try more of their menu. I will definitely be getting more gumbo! Oh , I can't forget to mention that the young lady who assisted me was so warm and welcoming. Everything about my visit was GREAT!

First off I'm from Lafayette , LA and this is NOT no cajun food , the gumbo had tomatoes in it so that was an instant turn off and the flavor was still not good the "juice" had no flavor . I also got the Crawfish Quesadilla and they asked if I wanted it seasoned and I said yes and there is absolutely NO flavor or season on this Quesadilla.. The crawfish taste like dirty crawfish and a little fishy.. The Menu said 14$ for the Quesadilla and I was charged 16$ for a plain crawfish Quesadilla and then I didn't keep the peppers and everything else in and on it.. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who wants Gumbo or "Cajun Style" food this was NOT it.. Disappointed.

Our waitress was very, very nice and personable and knowledgeable. Any questions that I had she always had an answer for and she was very patient with me as I am kind of a picky eater. The crab claws were amazing the seasoning on the crab claws Were a hit. I ordered the redfish Rockefeller and my daughter ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. Let me say the red fish Rockefeller has a distinct taste. It is very overpowering from the fish. It has a sweet onion taste and if you like that, then I would recommend this dish, but I didn't like it at all. Our waitress was very nice and told me to pick another dish. I decided to go with chicken dish. I think it's called Bayou chicken I'm not quite sure but it has a crawfish Louie sauce. I asked for the sauce on the side just in case I didn't like it and I'm glad I did. The sauce is thick, very thick like a gravy and was tasteless. I told her I would just pay for the entrée and not worry about sending it back, but the manager came over and asked me how was the dish and I told her I wasn't a fan but I would pay for it. He said no and brought me the menu again and told me to pick another entrée I was surprised because normally by this time you know, people are over it and, not really willing to please the customer but they were. I decided just to play it safe and go with fried shrimp which came with fries and coleslaw. I'm glad I chose this dish because I really enjoyed it. Also, the French 75 was really really good.

I wish it was served with tortilla chips instead of bread (which is nothing special) but never the less it was VERY tasty and had a hint of spice which wasn't too overbearing. I had to add in my own seasonings and the shrimp and chicken tasted like they had no kind of seasoning. I would not get that again. Overall I would come back, especially if other items taste like the creole dip!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to enjoy the patio. However, I took off a star because not a single staff member shared how things work there! After being told we could sit anywhere, we found ourselves just waiting without any guidance. At last, a server delivered food to the table next to ours, which prompted us to ask why no one had come to us. She was super apologetic and handed us menus while explaining that we need to go to the register to order and pay first, and then we'd get a number for our table. As for drinks, if you want an adult beverage, you have to order those separately at the bar. You'd think there'd be some signage indicating the process since it's a bit different from the usual! But let's talk about the food! We split the shrimp & grits and chicken & pancakes. While I usually prefer my grits creamy, I still found the shrimp mix to be tasty! The pancake was a tad thick for my liking, but the fried chicken was definitely the highlight--it was absolutely delicious! Oh, and the Hennessy Margarita? Totally on point! Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit!

There's a big shopping center parking lot with plenty of parking so that's not a concern. It's in more of an older shopping center in an area. That's not very well kept. Either way, we felt safe and wanted to try a new place for dinner. The Restaurant is very colorful and I love that about it. In the photos that I saw online, I didn't realize that the chairs were just covers that had all the beautiful colors but either way it's a lot for the eyes to take in. We arrived on a Friday evening close to 5 o'clock and we were the only ones there until we were just about to leave. I do believe that they have more orders that are picked up by DoorDash and delivery services. I was excited to try the stuffed grape leaves and my plan was to get the hummus with pita bread and add lamb to it for my entrée. Unfortunately, they were out of the stuffed grape leaves, and when I tried to order the hummus, they were also out of the hummus. That was unfortunate, but I went ahead and ordered the chicken Shawarma roll which came with french fries. We both liked our food, which was fresh and flavorful. The fries on my platter don't look appetizing, but they came out hot in seasoned just right! We also ordered the fried green tomatoes and place of the stuffed grape leaves that we wanted as an appetizer. They came out hot and fresh and was very delicious. Both of our meals, including one soda for my son was only like $36 which is excellent in today's economy! We both also took some of our food home so the portions are good. Overall a good experience. I'd definitely try it again. It's not one of my top choices with all that Birmingham has to offer but definitely worth coming back to.

With all of the mixing of the different flavors together, it was completely disgsting and inedible. Next, I went with a friend who had never tried Ethiopian to eat dine-in, thinking that hey, maybe it was an issue of getting take out. So disappointed. The food is SO SALTY that all I could taste was salt. Ethiopian food is known for robust, unique flavors and I absolutely love berebere. Couldn't taste any of those spices or flavors.
