Stopped in Culinary Delights for the first time today, while in the area. I got a Chicago dog and split an Italian beef with my husband. The food was so fresh and amazing. I wish I got a pick of the Italian beef but I scarfed it down before thinking of it. The man behind the counter that took our orders and served us, I assume was the owner. He was nice and genuinely wanted us to enjoy our meals. He was also fast! I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning! read more

I really wanted to like this place because I'm from Chicago and miss a good Italian beef. But they disappointed me in a couple of ways. I ordered for pick up. I was trying to make small talk and the people there were not warm. It went sour when I gave them my credit card to pay for my order and the machine cut my credit card, on the magnetic strip. The owner tried to put a knife in the card slot to take my card out and it still didn't come out. There was a younger lady working there and then it went from ok to bad. She yanked the card out and gave it to me. I told her my credit card is cut and she didn't say anything. I couldn't believe my eyes and I said your machine cut my credit card. She said, "It's not the machine, its your card." She was so unbelievably rude coming from left field. The owner tried to diffuse by saying they have a new machine but this lady was a ticking time bomb ready to explode. I told them that I really wanted to support local businesses but her attitude was so sour that I would not support their business. I can deal with ordering a new credit card but I cannot deal with rageful and angry service. In regards to their Italian beef . . . I asked for hot and wet. They didn't know what that meant so that should habe been a red flag. The beef tough and very stringing. The ratio of giardinaro and beef was completely off. I would not recommend if you are looking for authentic Chicago Italian beef. read more

Fast and delicious. Called ahead to pick up sandwiches for lunch and the paninis were coming right off the press when I got there. I got the crazy russian panini and it was fantastic- you can definitely taste the horseradish and the pork was high quality. We ordered two but just ended up splitting one and saving one for later. The homemade roasted pork is excellent! I enjoyed it in the Crazy Russian Panini which included cheese, onions, pickles, tomatoes, mustard and horseradish. The panini came out hot and the flavors were fantastic! I was so full after but wouldn't have said no to another one - its that good! Hoping to try the homemade roast beef next time. The owners are almost always there serving and cooking. This place is their child and it shows. Good service from everyone; excellent food for the price. The menu is eclectic--ranging from variations on hot dogs to Greek, Syrian, and even Russian food. The atmosphere is not electric or lively It is simple, almost like a cafeteria. Alex the owner is wonderful and great host. First time here. We stopped in on Saturday to grab a quick snack and found an assortment of fresh homemade food. It all look yummy, but we were only looking for a quick snack so settled on a few Chicago Hot dogs and fries. The dogs were exactly as you would find in Chicago, right down to the poppy seed buns and sport peppers. So Culinary Delights hit the mark for us. So rare is this delicacy in these parts, I must give kudos to Culinary Delights in Natick, (formerly Spalla's). A great little spot in Natick. Went looking for a new place to try and stumbled across this little gem. The owners are SUPER nice and friendly. You'll feel at home in there. They explained the entire menu and the fact that they were partially a European grocery, carrying the more items in limited quantities. The Chicago hot dogs looked great. I didn't try one, but wish I did. I opted for a hot Italian roast beef sandwich. It was great! Pros: 1. The roast beef is great! It came on a fresh baked hero roll, with plenty of sweet peppers and just enough 'gravy' (I don't like too much au jus myself). Also tried the homemade mac and cheese which was great too. 2. They make everything fresh, so be prepared if they run out of things. This is good though, because it means their dishes are fresh. 3. They do party platters and have a pretty good selection of cheeses and cured meat, like salamis. They also bake whole loaves of bread to order! yumm! 4. Hot dogs looked great! 100% beef, on a poppy hot dog bun with all the fixins. I wish I had gotten one, but couldn't eat another bite after my giant roast beef sandwich. 5. Friendly staff, clean restaurant. Tables are inside and out. Great spot to get a quick lunch. Ask them about their food, they're happy to tell you. Cons: 1. I don't really have any. Tips: 1. There really isn't a decent selection of turkey or chicken in the deli meat case. I think there was one turkey breast you could get sliced. I think they specialize more in European cold cuts, so don't expect to go and do all your deli shopping there. A lot of cured bacon, salami, hams, and pork type deli meat. Anyway, just be prepared if you want sliced turkey or Boar's head deli meats, they don't carry those, though what they do have looks amazing. read more

On Thursday, July 12, 1979, at Comiskey Park in Chicago, an anti-disco disc jockey named Steve Dahl organized a Disco Demolition Night. At the climax of the event, a crate filled with disco records was blown up on the field in between games of a doubleheader. Admission was discounted to 98 cents for attendees who turned in a disco record. Mayhem ensued. Attendees rushed onto the field, letting firecrackers, empty liquor bottles, record frisbees, and other foreign objects rain down. Some climbed the foul poles, while others set records on fire or ripped up the grass. It was Harry Carey's last day with the White Sox. Chicago has given us so much. Deep dish pizza, skyscrapers, the zipper, and the twinkie. Both Ferris Bueller and the ferris wheel. Most importantly the Windy City has given us the Italian Beef. It's roast beef sliced paper-thin, soaked in au jus, and layered generously, dripping wet, onto a vertically sliced Italian sub roll that is sturdy enough to not dissolve when wet. The meat is topped with sautéd green bell pepper slices ( sweet ) and giardiniera ( hot ) The only place in Massachusetts that sells them is Culinary Delights in Natick. 18 napkins later... I tried their dessert. The Sweet Cheese Dessert came with sour cream and this white cherry fruit preserve. I lost it. I was tempted to storm the kitchen, climb the fridge and whip bags of potato chips but refrained. If it hadn't been for that Disco hating disc jockey Take me Out to the Ball Game Harry Carey would've never been a Cubbie. read more

I'm not much for leaving reviews but this place deserves 5 stars. We got an Italian Panini and Combo Sandwhich, both hot, and a side of fries. Both sandwiches were delicious and I would get them again. The peppers on the Combo made the sandwich. Fries were perfect. Crispy and hot with the coarse salt. The gentleman who made our sandwiches was very accommodating and happy to have customers! Go here, get a great meal and feel good about it. read more

I recently visited this restaurant to get a bacon egg and cheese on a roll, I had just missed breakfast and decided I would try the meatball sub, with provolone and Parmesan flakes beautifully spread over the top, The owner of this place takes pride in everything single move. When the sandwich came out, I was ready to pay, they said no sit enjoy and pay afterwards. The meatballs were piping hot, huge, smelled amazing,and so delicious. I stopped in, picked up two dogs, one chili cheese and one plain. I was so happy! I don't know anywhere else from Natick to Boston that serves hot dogs for pick up other than Casey's so to find a specialty place like this changed my world. The dogs were fantastic and the service was friendly and efficient. I could tell they take pride in what they do and have a knack for being warm and pleasant without having to try. So delicious. Since the husband is Polish we also pick up some stuffed cabbages- get them before they sell out for the day. So good. Just like Chicago. The hot giardiniera is truly hot. You may want to to try the mild first or ask for a sample of the hot. They'll pack one extra for dinner too. The Chicago dog has authenticity too.
