Italian Beef sandwich like the one in The Bear.
    David M.

After watching the TV show "The Bear" I wanted to find a spot in the Boston area that made the Italian Beef sandwich featured on the show. The sandwich at Culinary Delights was fabulous! Loved it. Stop in. Worth the trip and the staff were great.

Yes to Culinary Delights. Delicious lunch with lots of variety, spanning European flavors and plenty of American style, too. A bonafide Chicago Hot Dog is available and recommended here. Served with all the trimmings from neon green relish to celery salt accompanying a classic Vienna Beef hot dog. The famous 'snap' comes standard, of course, though I think the dog could have been plucked from the water a couple minutes sooner. Even better than the Chicago Dog (IMO) was something called the Beantown Dog. Still the Vienna Beef, only now smothered in what else, Boston Baked Beans plus bacon! Best to share with someone to make sure everybody is all good after this culinary explosion. Also tried the handmade/homemade dumpling soup. Melt in your mouth, savory and satisfying in a comforting thick broth. Fantastic. Maybe even better than the hot dogs. Really, everything they presented here came out fresh and tasty and completely surprising given the geographical location. They also have a number of food items on their shelves which come from far away. The food was great, the staff was focused, and the cheerful owner is behind the counter and ready to answer any questions.

Chicago dog on top, Coney on bottom

Alex's dogs can't be beat! I am so stuck on The Chicago and the Coney that I never order anything else. They are guaranteed to get my endorphins going! The Chicago is a slightly spicy concoction with delicious green and red peppers - (not too hot )- delicious bright green relish, a perfectly sliced pickle over a very tasty hot dog. The buns that Alex uses are wonderfully tender and sprinkled with poppy seeds. The Coney uses the same delicious bun, but it is loaded with excellent chili and lots of diced onion. I like these two hot dogs so much, that I cannot order just one - i must order the complete set of two

Bacon egg and cheese English muffin

This may be the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. They even make sure to salt and pepper the eggs. The people here are so friendly and it's such a cozy and cute environment. Absolutely perfect experience all around and I will be back for sure!

We're loving 'Culinary Delights'. It's hard to explain - Alex tells you what he's making today and you tell him what you're in the mood for. Delicious. We loved the chicken schnitzel with rice and corn side salad. Great fries. 'Crazy Russian' sandwich was noteworthy!

Have tried a lot of so-called Chicago hotdog places, especially since becoming part of the "diaspora" several decades ago. You can get a Chicago hotdog here, it's great, and you might think it's no big deal, but then you realize you're not even in Chicagoland, you're in Natick, MA. Love it.

That killed it for me to buy more than one. After checking out Yelp photos and the online menu first upon arrival, I settled on the "New York Style" hot dog with small fry (3.50) and no drink. It came out to $15. It took a little while to get my order. I was there ordering with the cashier before some guy came after to order by kiosk which got his order first. My hotdog was loaded and tasted amazing. After finishing, I wish I had another because I wasn't full even after the fries. But I could never pay $20 for 2 hotdogs. Shop was clean and cute inside. Cashier was nice. A fairly new resident recommended the chicken bowl next time. The only other location is on the Natick Mall. They would be more busy if they come down $3-$4. Hope they aren't wasting their toppings with these prices.

I had the chicken bowl it was a somewhat small serving of chicken. I moved it from the bowl to cut it up. I ended up eating just the chicken, sour cream and beans. For the record: under the ADA (and Massachusetts law, which follows it), a business can ask exactly two questions -- is this a service animal required due to a disability, and what task is it trained to perform. That's it. No vest, no ID card, no paperwork required, full stop. I said as much, was met with attitude, stepped out to keep the peace, came back in with documentation anyway (which I didn't legally owe him), and got a passive-aggressive "well you could've shown me that at the beginning" -- followed by a genuinely bizarre stare-down over the counter. Charming. Then, while waiting on my order, I made the mistake of taking a video of the (admittedly cute) interior -- 100-year-old diner car, hard not to want a keepsake -- and got yelled at for filming, with a pointed accusation that my brother outside was "also filming," said like it was a crime. Meanwhile this place has an active social media presence built on customers doing exactly that. You can't crowdsource your Instagram content and then treat a phone camera like a weapon. Oh, and the hot dog itself: $5 for a boiled dog on white bread, no toasting, no char, nothing. A sad little snack to cap off a genuinely unpleasant interaction. The building has real history. The guy behind the counter does not deserve it.

All the patrons in the place were happy and the crew was meeting customers with smiles and efficiency. He had a ziplock full of change that he had brought to buy his lunch. Before I could step in to offer to cover the difference he needed the man up front who I assumed was the manager calmly and without pause or judgement said that it was ok and that he would take care of things for the boy and that things were all set. The young woman at the register also was helpful and kind to the teen. I thought their demeanor and kindness was great and it made my day. As I left I stopped to speak to him to praise them for being such good people and for the great customer service. I went to hand him a big tip for the two of them since I was so warmed by their humanity and helpfulness but I was met with a very humble no, no, no and I saw that he was very pleased though that I spoke up to give them praise. I stopped by for lunch at Hot Doogy in the Natick Mall, which had their soft opening on Friday December 13, 2024 and grand opening on Saturday December 14, 2024. This food court location is order at the counter with pickup counter and also offers two touchscreen ordering kiosks (card payment only), and pickup order lockers. They offer a good variety of special Brazilian style hot dogs ($8-$16 range), chicken nuggets, rice bowls, fries, onion rings, cold drinks, milkshakes, acai shakes, ice cream sundaes, and kids menu. I ordered the Chicago Doogy ($11 plus tax)-grilled beef hot dog, yellow mustard, relish, diced onion, tomato wedges, dill pickles, sport peppers, celery salt on a poppy seed hot dog bun. I also ordered a Crispy Chicken Bowl ($13 plus tax) which had soft yellow rice, shredded cheddar cheese, edamame soybeans, lettuce, tomatoes, corn, sour cream and breaded pieces of crispy chicken topped with a creamy drizzle. I was also given a 15 percent off grand opening discount. My order was bagged and ready to go in about 7 minutes. The Chicago Doogy had a good firm bite and a good mix of ingredients for a tasty hot dog. The crispy chicken bowl was made well (not slapped together) and was very filling to eat. Overall, Hot Doogy is a still good place to stop for hot dogs and other eats and treats, now open at the Natick Mall.

Known locally as "The Chat," it's tucked away in a neighborhood overlooking Dudley Pond, in what began life as a private fishing lodge nearly a century ago before becoming a speakeasy and eventually the local institution it is today. It definitely shows its age--and I mean that affectionately. (The Dudley Chateau) The building is well worn, it gets packed, it can be loud, and yes, the restrooms have seen better days. None of that has stopped us from coming back several times a year. Why? Because the food is consistently excellent, and so is the service. The menu goes well beyond what you'd expect from a neighborhood pub, and we've yet to leave disappointed. The staff somehow manages to stay friendly, attentive, and efficient even when the place is buzzing. The Dudley Chateau isn't trying to be trendy or upscale, and that's part of its charm. It's comfortable in its own skin, and so are the people who keep coming back. If you're looking for spotless, quiet, and polished, this probably isn't your place. But if you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a genuine local institution with plenty of character, it's absolutely worth the visit.
