Amazing Great food, great friendly service, and accommodating. I have celiac and the chef altered and substituted to accommodate it, they have a theatre menu that came right away so not sure about the people who waited so long. It also seemed that other reviewers showed up with out making reservations. I laughed at the person who said "worst experience". I had just had tests the last two days for liver transplant and cancer. I should be so lucky. It was such an enjoyable experience for an evening with my sister who flew in for me. ...Spring 2012 Detroit Restaurant Week review... Cuisine did a very nice job of presenting themselves and what they have to offer during this DRW installment. Mom and I were treated very well by the staff, with enough people to cater to our every whim (we were visited by our waiter numerous times, the 'bread boy' made regular and welcome visits, and a sommelier). We enjoyed the low lit interior. I chose the Foie Gras Dumpling (2* - dumpling edges were a bit firm from sitting out in the elements, but the consomme was delish), Skatefish (4* - flaky fish reminded me of crab, and the blood orange butter sauce was yummy), and Almond Raspberry Tart (3* - a bit too firm but the rosemary ice cream was 5* amazing!). Mom chose the Caesar Salad (3*), the Mexican beef filet (4* - spicy crust, succulent meat), and German chocolate cake (4* - coconut ice cream...sigh) We had a couple glasses of of wine ($9 each) and split the Brussels sprouts side ($8). These prices are more indicative of what you'd spend at Cuisine (vs $28 each for the DRW 3-course). Mom and I decided we would be willing to visit Cuisine during a future DRW, but maybe not as a normal dinner option before our Fisher Theatre shows. read more

The food is good at least! We went before a show at the fisher, we weren't expecting a set menu for the show because it didn't say anything when we booked the reservation (which you don't really need), so we were disappointed when we only had a few options to choose from. Nonetheless, staff was nice and attentive, food came quickly and was good. One thing I will say, the decor of this place was stuck in 2001. I swear the glasses, plates, cutlery, even the lighting was all from the first day it opened. Not gross looking but this place could really do for some sprucing up. read more

The restaurant building is nice and warm with dark wood all around. The bar area felt like an after thought with a giant TV that didn't quite suit the atmosphere. The bartender, Fred, is wonderful. He makes the best classic cocktails like Old Fashion and Manhattan. The food was very goo but with very small portions and high prices my wallet vs my stomach were out of sync. I was here in June 2017 with a group that reserved the second floor. They should take a look around the room to see what a guest sees when they come up the stairs. An attic. Not a romatic, cute garret (A garret is a room at the very top of a house, just underneath the roof. If you don't have enough money to rent a proper room, you might be able to rent a garret), but an attic. It could be so much more. If the room was properly decorated and looked welcoming and inviting, this would have absolutely been a 4 star, and maybe a 5 star review. The moscato they serve is wonderful, the young men who were our waiters and barstaff did a really nice job. The tables were set nicely. Dinner was great in a timely manner, the shrimp cocktail appetizer was really good. The beef for dinner was really good, and the salmon smelled heavenly. Sorbet dessert with berries was really nice. My girlfriend and I came here for DRW. As expected, the place was super busy. We had a reservation, but because of the high traffic from DRW we had to wait at the bar until we could be sat. The bar is actually really cool, I love the feel of it. The bartender mixed our drinks perfectly. The service was a little slow, but that was expected and our drinks were half off. Once we were sat, I took in all the decor. The inside looks like your sitting in your rich friend's living room. I love the atmosphere. Our appetizers were potato leek bacon n chowder and kale salad. The chowder absorbed the sweet and salty flavor of the bacon so well. Listen, if you can make kale actually taste good, you're a winner. However, this kale salad was absolutely delicious. The texture of the quinoa with the crunch of the walnuts and the sweetness of the radish had me dying. We also had the truffle oil mac and cheese to share. For me, anything incorporating truffle oil is great. This did not disappoint. Our entrees were beef sirloin and pork shoulder. The beef sirloin was cooked very rare and the juices were perfect. The mashed potatoes and corn had a very light sweetness that complemented the beef very well. My savory pork shoulder mixed with the bitterness of the tomatillo and the elegant flavor of the goat cheese grits created a delicious dynamic. And finally for dessert, we were treated with a sort of chocolate custard and breton butter gateau with almond ice cream. The flavors of both were very rich and satisfying. I cannot complain about the service. All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating on a very busy night. I highly recommend Cuisine as a fantastic fine dining experience. read more

I had a good experience here. Don't expect super fancy. I found this place online and wanted to try it out. It's an old bldg and def looks it. When we arrived we parked right next door in the lot. They guided us to the back dining area. The waiter was a short Italian man that seems to have worked there a lot time. He seemed knowledgeable about the venue and the food. We started with the oysters and they were ok; hard to find non grainy oysters. For entrees we had: 1.Sea Scallop with corn risotto, mango, leeks and beet dust. 2. Thai Snapper with citrus butter, grilled bok choy and candied almonds. Sides: Tri Colored Carrots w goat cheese, hazelnuts and honey French Autumn Truffle Risotto The food was good. The drinks were small for the price. Menu is subject to change Decently priced (ave $40/entree) The ambience is a small crowd. Tables are close by so you can hear each other's conversation. Ppl at other tables talked to us while we ate which was kind of fun if you're ok with that type of decorum. Wait staff was nice. They showed us the upstairs renovations. read more

To begin this establishment is located directly across from the Fischer Theater... it is FAR MORE than a theater restaurant. A 1920s building with Chef Paul owning Cuisine for 17 years!!! Tonight I enjoyed a morel cassoulet which was as unique as it sounds. I enjoyed it, and let me tell you I am a Julia Child's "way to cook" cassoulet die hard fan but chef Paul blew me away again. The highlight of the evening? The Soufflé. Chef Paul makes a Grand Manier Soffle. That's right folks. Grand manier souffle. The waiter literally carved a hole into the perfectly fluffy dessert and pours the liquor in. Not to mention the wine offerings are something to dream about. Any other city.. this restaurant would be $$$$, for the price point and taste this place is beyond perfect. If you're a foodie- check it out, especially for a date! Oh and the service? Cuisine far exceeded my expectations. I had heard from friends and family how wonderful it is - but then, there a lot of great restaurants in the Detroit area - and I have ones I visit regularly. However, after a visit last evening, I certainly wish I wouldn't have waited so long to experience this one! The ambiance was delightful, and every dish at our table was cooked to perfection. From the scallops, duck, quail, fish and the scrumptious soup - each dish was incredibly delicious and presented artfully. Several in our party ordered desserts and they were heavenly as well. The waitstaff were warm and friendly, and even though it was quite busy, we never felt neglected. This is my new favorite Detroit restaurant! read more

The staff at the restaurant we're VERY nice. Drinks are amazing. HOWEVER the food is a different story! Tortellini was served in a brown sauce, horrible pairing. Lamb chops were not cooked right and they had no flavor. The sirloin had no flavor as well. The au gratin potatoes were super dry and they were really the worst we've (4 of us) have ever had. Located behind the Fischer Building, in a Victorian styeld home on Lothrop street, is Cuisine. Not many people in here when we went and the decor was a bit stale (thick drapey curtains, ornamental floral plates, etc), so naturally i was worried about the food. They started us out with a basket filled with hearty in-house made freshly baked bread. Toasty, warm, and scrumptious! Just the aroma of this fresh out of the oven bread had me drooling for what was yet to come! Anyhow, I ended up ordering the smoked salmon and scallops for the first course and wow - what a pleasant surprise! Flavorful, cooked to perfection, and melted like butter! As for the entree, i decided to get the lamb shank. It was a nice hefty (the size of a medieval club) serving of lamb with a great pairing of risotto, simply deeeeelish! Lastly, the caramelized apples & ice cream for dessert played with all the senses and was a wonderful ending to our meal. Awesome food here, and if you're going to the Fischer Theatre it's a great place to dine before a show! read more

Restaurants in New Center: Can't beat it! CHARM: It's got plenty. Yes, it's old. Yes, it's in a house. Yes, you might almost miss it. Yes, there's what appears to be an art gallery a few houses down, in another re-purposed house. Yes, it all works. Love it. FOOD: If you go when soft-shell crabs are in season, you HAVE to try it, as an appetizer, as an entree, in a tree, with green eggs and ham, whatever. JUST TRY IT. It was one of the top 5 things I've ever eaten in my life, and definitely the best soft-shell crab I've ever had, hands down. The flavor was savory, but citrus-y...and the textures were just out of this world. The rest of the menu ain't bad, either, but it changes often to accommodate what's in season. I remember having a lobster on pasta dish once (not lobster ravioli), and it was amazing, but I didn't see it again the next time. The scallops are always there, and they're pretty good. Also, there was a special truffle oil mac n cheese (that may or may not have had mushrooms actually in there...I can't remember) that was divine. SERVICE: Always a little bit awkward. Not sure what it is about the servers at this place. They're nice enough, but the rapport is always a little hard to establish, and they always seem a little bit...stodgy. It's hard to qualify. Our waiter last night was also the manager and after we were seated he ignored our table for over 25 minutes, then instead of simply apologizing and taking our orders, he was snarky and gave us a list of reasons why we couldn't be upset. He then continued to make passive aggressive little jabs throughout our meal! It was unbelievable!! He actually whined to us about the theater crowd (which we were a part of). My food was cold despite the plate being "too hot to touch" (meaning left under a heat-lamp too long). Our food took so long to get to our table that we had to take our last bites while putting on our coats and paying the bill. Our reservations were @ 6PM and we had to literally run to theatre across the street to make the show by @8PM! I was a waitress for over 10 years and I'm very understanding/forgiving when waitstaff are slammed and trying hard to provide good service (because I've been there) however, this was not the case last night. This was THE worst dining experience I've ever had! We will never be back. read more

I always thought the point of restaurant week (part deux anyway) is to get new people into your restaurant , and then blow their socks off so they will come back. Cuisine is a cozy space in a pretty convenient corner of "New Center" Detroit, with a warm ambiance highlighted by uniquely beautiful chandelier. The staff looked sharp, and enthusiastically ushered us in for our early Tuesday dinner. This is where the chocolate tart with fruit marmalade starts to crumble. Except for a few highlights, the food was strikingly average. The apps didn't start great... The salad was a wedge of undressed and bitter radicchio, served next to a grilled pear out of a can. The charcuterie plate was equally uneventful with my wife and I sword fighting over the only good morsel: the duck pate. With low expectations, we received the mains which didn't fare much better. The salmon dish was cooked and seasoned perfectly, but that was it. Nothing inventive, or interesting. It was flanked by a fried risotto cake which was ok, an inedible cucumber slaw which had an unpleasant grass clipping note, and a strange sweet sauce that I damned off with my bread. The thin sliced lamb dish was overly rested, tough, and gamey, toped with mint jello was just edible. This dish was surrounded by a tower of veg and some home fries from last weekends breakfast. With relief, we took our token desert and planned our escape, except it took 10 minutes to get the bill. I very much understand the challenges of presenting a high end meal for $27 dollars per person, but I wholly expected a better meal than what I can get at a J Alexanders. In this case, and on this night, a feta chicken salad sure sounded good. read more

I'm not sure what all the hate is about, but I was extremely impressed with the food AND the service! The ambiance is incredible - it really feels like you've been invited into someone's home (who actually has a master chef hidden somewhere behind the big Oz curtain). A group of us came for a Restaurant Week Prix Fixe treat and everyone was thoroughly satisfied, from start to finish. May I suggest: the Sturgeon, the Beef tenderloin, and the Veal Meatballs. All knock your socks off choices. John Brown was our waiter, and he was every bit as entertaining as he was efficient and polite. And finally this: Skip dessert, not impressive (at least not either of the two choices we were given), I suggest getting an espresso and going elsewhere for something decadent...that is, if dessert is even on your agenda (it's always on mine!!!!). read more

My friend and I stumbled across Cuisine on our way to see a show at the Ficher Theater and I am so excited we did. I had never heard of this place, so didn't really have any expectations when we walked in but I was pleasantly surprised (thank you Yelp application on my phone!). Cuisine is located in this old house across from the Fisher building , so there are multiple small dining areas nestled inside because they didn't much alter the original structure. We were seated in the front dining area near the bar and promptly greeted by our waitress. They have multiple progression menus which all looked amazing; however with our time constraint with the show we ended up ordering off the ale cart menu. We started with the parmesan broiled oysters, which were absolutely amazing. Whatever they put in the sauce that came with them must have crack in it, because I could have drank it out of a martini glass. We then shared the beef tenderloin and scallops, both of which were really good. I liked the scallops better because I didn't appreciate the sauce on the tenderloin, however the tenderloin was prepared very well. We also had a side of the truffle mac-n-cheese, which was a little underwhelming on the truffle side, but still good. This was the perfect little restaurant for us to go to before the show and it will be on our list for the next show we attend. It is a little pricey, so don't be surprised by that, however the food was worth it. read more

Cuisine is a stunning, quaint intimate setting in a home near the Fisher Theater. Considering it is listed as a top ten in Detroit, and French I was really looking forward to dining here. Yes, we came with two young grandchildren in tow. I reserved and commented a husband on crutches, and two young children. I will say they eat out in five of seven days a week, so dining out is a norm they eat anything. They have a wonderful craft drink menu! The drinks were creative and so good I ordered a second of the strawberry bandito. Granted the two drinks looked nothing the same. I rarely drink so I can say they were special! Peter came to get drink order, and informed us he was not the waiter for food. As Susie appeared I asked for the standard menu. When Susie appeared again I asked for the standard menu. I asked about something for kids. She informed me they make pasta for kids. I asked how much, also thought we would just order an adult order to share. She disregarded ever being a menu, ordered the pasta for the kids. Never would my daughter serve her kids butter noodles. No healthy value there. I asked for a bowl of soup for our grandson which never appeared. I had to ask if they had bread, if we could move dinner along. Susie never appeared again. I guess she could not be honest enough to say they were only serving restaurant week menu. I booked early enough not to be busy or interrupt the Fisher diners. The three course had great starter! The salad was terrific blueberry goat cheese! My husband loved the corn chowder! Main course was good tenderloin, but looked like a winter crock pot meal that lacked depth of favor according to our daughter. I would have expected better. My husband said the halibut was very good. I loved the strawberry oatmeal basil shortcake! A wonderful favor, cute presentation in a short canning jar! Great intro to summer desserts! I was so disappointed in dining here. They have plenty of staff working, but like Susie they size you up and determine whether you are worth them waiting on you or moving on to another table. read more

We dropped in on the first true night of winter. It was cold, blustery, and the snow was both frightful and delightful. We were craving warm comfort food and Cuisine is a stone's throw from our place, so we were grateful to get a table. Our server was nice, efficient, and was very knowledgeable about wine pairings for our selections. Their menu is consistently changing, so the menu online is not an accurate reflection of their offerings. I ordered a salad and soup, while he ordered the Dover sole. When you read the write-ups of the dishes on the menu, you'd be hard pressed to think Cuisine could rate anything less than a five-star meals. You read of creamy lobster dishes, slow cooked veal dishes complete with foie gras, and you get the kind of food porn visions that would be blocked by Websense if'n you were in your office building. But something about the pretension ends with the menu. Your brain tells your mouth this dish should taste really good, but in the end your mouth tells your brain that the emperor isn't wearing any clothes. I ordered the veal osso bucco with foie gras. This should have been a very flavor dish, but it was kind of bland and boring. That the meat lacked flavor wasn't that surprising, but that the sauce was also dull. The lady wasn't happy with her lobster dish either, which seemed odd since lobster in a rich, creamy sauce should be an automatic home run, but again, there was something off about the flavor.We both agreed that the duck charcutiere appetizer went beyond expectations, with the duck sausage being the perfect compliment of salt and poultry. But the spinach salad? Meh, it was a salad. I went back and forth with whether this was a two or three star review, and in the end, I decided I would give it another try to see if we just chose the wrong dishes. Cuisine is a warm, slightly dated restaurant that mixes fine dining and exceptional service with a TV at the bar. We got there right after the theater rush and it was quiet so they placed us in the front of the restaurant overlooking the street. The interior is a bit worn down but cozy, as it's an old house converted into a restaurant. I'm guessing the service here is hit or miss, because contrary to other reviews, our experience was exceptional. From the minute we walked in, we were well taken care of. Our server, Rusty, was supremely attentive and diligent in making sure not only that we were satisfied and had everything we wanted, but that the table was organized and arranged impeccably. His attention to detail, easygoing conversation, and good recommendations made for some of the best service we've ever had. In addition, Chef Grosz came out and introduced himself and explained what was on the charcuterie board we had ordered. Nice touch. The food was overall a 3.5 star experience. The charcuterie had some great stuff, like profiteroles filled with duck pate, but also had some duds. We shared a side of brussels sprouts, which weren't good. Maple and bacon. Uninventive, and for an ingredient as flavorful as brussels sprouts, I thought they'd do much better. My sig oth ordered the prime rib, which was perfectly cooked to medium rare. Some of the best I've had. I ordered the scallops, which were solid. Very rich. The sauteed onion and sauce that accompanied them balanced out the richness of the scallops nicely. I recommend that you try it. But make sure that Rusty is working, and ask him what thinks is cooking well that night. We were happy with the prime rib and scallops, both of which he recommended, and displeased with the other dishes, both of which he did not. read more

Fine dining. Set in a tastefully decorated large house in new center, this place is really a treat. We both had one of the progression menus, multiple courses chosen by the chef to go well together. I had the vegetarian and she, one including prime rib and scallop courses. Everything was marvelous. The service was friendly and helpful. Note, this is fine dining, if you are in a hurry you shouldn't be doing fine dining. Good food takes its time, but is very worth it. Highly recommend for a destination dinner out, but not a dinner-and-a-show probably, unless you allow two and a half hours and the place isn't packed with similar timed diners! read more

Haven't been to the restaurant in a few years, but was pleasantly reminded of its charms last night. If you appreciate fine food and fine dining, don't miss out. I just read some of the reviews below and this isn't a place for take-out or asking for substitutions because the kitchen focuses on seasonal and local ingredients. However, if you are in the mood for a relaxed evening in a comfortable setting, put this restaurant on your list. We had the six course progression menu, and each dish stood out on its own. The scallop with citrus butter was outstanding. Cute little spot on a charming little tree lined street in Detroit. They've really done a fun job turning an old house into a restaurant. I should preface this by saying I did go for restaurant week, so we chose from a limited menu. I thought the sorbets were really awesome - big fan! They have some really creative menu choices, so it's kind of a nice change of pace from your typical American fare. The service was ok, not great. The food was ok, not great. Some of the "old house" factor gave me the creeps. When a place kind of smells like my great grandma's living room, that's just not appetizing. Went to see the matinee at the Fisher Theater. It was a musical called Spring Awakening. Normally I'm not into musicals but this one had boob so it gets a thumbs up. I'm here to talk about food not boob on Broadway in Detroit, so let's get to it. We walked in just ahead of most of the cast of the show we'd just seen, including the two leads who had a very steamy teen sex scene together. After listening to the male leads accent I surmised he probably wasn't that into it. We were a half hour early for our reservation so we grabbed drinks at the bar. The cast was seated upstairs. The restaurant is a converted two story house. My vodka tonic came back a vodka soda, but I enjoyed the bubbles and ended up drinking the mistake for the rest of the dining experience. When the time came for our reservation we were seated upstairs with a partial view of the musical theater troupe. We were both ordering from the $27 / person Detroit Restaurant Week menu, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert. Not a bad deal for a classy looking joint like this with a Le Cordon Blue trained chef utilizing hard to pronounce ingredients. After ordering all of our courses at once our waitress was swapped out for a waiter who was clearly tardy. I got the duck charcuterie for my first and my girlfriend got the corn chowder with a bit of crab salad dropped on top. The array of duck salami, duck pate and duck other thing were pretty tasty. The corn crab chowder lacked pop, tasted bland. Also the menu description said corn chowder with crab salad which doesn't get the point across that the crab will be in the soup. A fellow diner asked that very question in fact. We both ordered the baked salmon for our 2nd's. I almost got the lamb mint thing, but wanted something a bit lighter. We thought the salmon was perfectly cooked, but again lacking a little on flavor. The highlight for me was the round potato cake accompaniment, which was a fluffy little morsel incorporated into each bite. 3rd course was dessert. I got a strawberry sorbet with cookie and fresh strawberries. Not bad, not great. My girlfriend got the chocolate torte (I think it was a torte). Anyway, it was terrible. I don't think it was made in house, and the caramel colored interior of the torte had a flavor not fit for consumption. The service was also lackluster. No butter for the bread. No soup spoon for the soup. No waiter giving us drinks. No waiter giving us a bill. The restaurant was fully booked and I think this one dude was handling all 8 upstairs tables on his own, which would be tough to do. I should probably give it two stars, but I had a good time and they only charged me for one of my three vodka soda's. read more

I don't normally write reviews but I felt compelled to warn others about my experience at Cuisine and I certainly hope that Cuisine's owner takes heed. I noticed that others have had similar things to say. . . It's Detroit Restaurant week! DRW is an event I look forward to and advertise greatly. A bunch of my friends and I LOVE going. It's a great way to splurge a bit and try new places without spending a fortune. I am a big supporter of Detroit and Detroit business. . . that being said, I wish I could rave about my experience at Cuisine and I regret that I have to report otherwise. So many things were wrong I almost don't know where to begin. . . Our waitress didn't greet us or acknowledge us until we had already been sitting there for 20 min. When she did finally stop by our table, she seemed exasperated, referred to DRW as "this shindig" and mentioned that she and the other staff were trying to "get people out of there" for the show. Her entire demeanor was off-putting, as it was very apparent she was irritated with the entire situation. She then disappeared without taking our orders. Thankfully, Ashley, who appeared to be in charge of bread and water, noticed us sitting there, and offered to take our drink orders. . . One member of our party ordered a beer from the menu, and it was reported back that the bartender had never heard of the beer before and that they didn't have it. IT WAS ON THE MENU! Ok. . . Eyebrows are raised and skeptical glances were exchanged among our group, but we laughed and anxiously awaited the opportunity to place our orders. Ashley brought bread. Refilled our waters. Finally, what seemed like an eternity later, our waitress comes by and says Hi to us. Apparently she still wasn't ready to take our orders because she zipped away again. When she comes back, she is unapologetic and hurriedly she takes our orders. Meanwhile Ashley, the water girl whom I now adore, seems to be the only person in that place smiling, being professional and courteous. She keeps stopping by to check on us and our drinks, recognizing that it had been a long while and we still were sitting there without food, she brings more bread. . . and seeing our pained faces, assures us that our food is coming soon. It's at this time that I look around the restaurant and start connecting the dots. . . and starting to worry. All of the staff were running around, obviously stressed or irritated, tables were left uncleared, I noticed a few wine glasses carelessly left at random places around the dining room, towels on the floor. . . . all things that should NOT fly at an upscale restaurant. Suddenly it begins to make sense as to why we had our choice of openings for reservations there, when everywhere else was booked. We are all starving at this point, and beginning to panic that the food is going to be as disappointing as the service. Realizing that we have been there for OVER AN HOUR and have not yet received our appetizers (soup and salad?!), and we haven't seen our waitress since she took our orders (probably a half hour ago?), we start discussing other dinner options. Finally as a group we decide that we have had enough and we don't care where we eat, we just don't want to spend our money there. We prepare to leave and request our bill from Ashley, who is again apologetic, and obviously sympathizing with our situation. It's then that our waitress shows up with soup, and plops it down in front of me as we inform her that it has been over an hour and we are leaving, she responds with "OK!" and whisks it away almost spilling it on me. No apologies, No explanation for the delay. The waitress was extremely rude, unprofessional, and didn't seem to give a s. . . We as a group are all very understanding of what stresses are present in the service industry, and understanding that the popularity of DRW might have added to that. . . but the service (or lack thereof) was inexcusable. We paid for our drinks and went out of our way to tip Ashley. We thanked her profusely for her understanding and all of her efforts. She seemed to be the only one holding it together at that place. Anyway, I unfortunately cannot comment on or review the food at Cuisine. However, based on other reviews, it seems we escaped in time to avoid further disappointment. After a very enjoyable dinner elsewhere, I realized that I had forgotten my jacket at Cuisine and had to return to get it. Thankfully, it was still exactly as I had left it, on the corner of my chair. . . but over an hour later, our table was left exactly as we had left it also. . . Still uncleared. I certainly hope that these issues get addressed, and Cuisine re-emerges as the note-worthy restaurant it was reported to be a few years ago. We drove by... again and again. It looked good... but we just somehow never made it across the threshold. Then we challenged ourselves to try 200 new places this year. Suddenly Cuisine was near the top of the list... and... it's going to stay there! Well located near the Fisher Theatre, near the highways in New Center. We went during Detroit's Restaurant week so we had a multi course meal at a reasonable price. And... it was all... quite good. The service was good. The food was tasty. The price was affordable.... Now I can't wait to visit the other 199 places so we can go back and try it again! read more

Had dinner before Hamilton at the Fisher. The food was wonderful & the wait staff very attentive. The tenderloin was a perfect med rare & the turbot in brown butter sauce was amazing. read more

We lucked out and got a table for four right before a show at the Fisher. We didn't have a reservation but they were trying a buffet upstairs. It was pricey, 45$ a person but all the food was delicious and I left full, satisfied and not too salty bout the price. Great service too. read more

Fantastic meal at Cuisine. It's a very pretty restaurant, across the street from the Fisher Theater. My friend and I split a fantastic steak, scallops, beet salad and short rib dumplings. Our server was knowledgeable and speedy. Great evening and heartily recommended! read more

Seems I'm not as gourmet-savvy as Brian T, but I have very fond memories at this upscale restaurant. First time I was there was one summer evening in 2005 when they had a weekly wine tasting night. I was able to sample various wines and eat some delicious appetizers. Second time, my boyfriend and I had anniversary dinner in 2006 (our 10th year!). Although food was on a pricey side, it was worth it. The setting felt very intimate, and the service made us feel very special. I think we had an amazing rabbit dish. Although I can't afford to eat here very often, I'd definitely recommend this place to those who can! read more

I have eaten at Cuisine several times before shows at the Fisher Theatre with my Aunt, who is a VERY picky eater. The menu at Cuisine is very small, but this is because the chef changes the menu on a regular basis and makes very unique entrees. My Aunt has a really hard time finding something every time we go there though. I, on the other hand, have never been let down by the fish entrees. They are incredible and unique. I have tried some kinda of fish here for the first time, and have loved every meal. Service is kinda all over the place. They seem understaffed for theatre nights, and sometimes, food takes a LONG time. The bread is very good, as well as the soup. Anyway, I would not suggest this place for kids or picky eaters. However, if you like quality food and don't mind waiting, this is a great French place in downtown Detroit. Also, I do think it's overpriced, but I have had coupons each time I went, which helped it out. read more

Truly hit and miss with the food. But never really good service. The exterior needs a bit of a facelift too. Some rot along the outside is not appealing. For the high price point Cuisine has to offer, there are better options opening daily in Detroit. read more
