Enjoyed dining at the Statler after show at the Fisher Theatre. They offered a fixed price menu with choices for appetizer, salad, entree and dessert for a reasonable price. We decided to go with that after my first choice of scallops were not an option as they were all out. We started with cocktails La Jolie and French Martini which were excellent. Calamari was appetizer. Beet salad was excellent. Entrees of Braised Short Ribs and Ragout were very good. Desserts were key lime pie - large and delicious. We also ordered a chocolate dessert that they served with a candle celebrating a birthday which was a special touch. Pleasant atmosphere, good service.

The statler is a beautiful French restaurant that looks how you'd expect. It was dark and romantic but surprisingly not very busy on a Friday night. The staff were informative and knowledgeable. They have validated parking in a garage connected to the lobby which was really nice in the winter & so convenient compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered the charcuterie board to start and I especially loved the fresh honey. I also got the beet salad and thought it was good & had a hearty amount of toppings. The short rib meat was average but I really like the carrots, parsnips and purée that accompanied it. My friend ordered the duck, the butter poached mushrooms and the hashed potatoes. Her sides were the way to go! I also highly recommend the French onion soup. They also have a nice selection of cocktails and mock-tails for anyone that doesn't drink :)

Yet another terrible experience. I gave this place a 2nd chance and I'm still disappointed. Let me point out the one thing that was phenomenal-- the service (our waitress and waiter: Veronica and Andre) were nothing less than amazing. The food however was atrocious. I ordered the shrimp Moroccan pasta. It was unseasoned. The flavors of the sauce were unbalanced and left a serious aftertaste. I sent it back and they brought me a burger. I didn't even eat it-- gave it to homeless man. Lastly, when the bill came, they would not allow us to separate the checks. We spent about $1000 and then had to calculate the bill. Very tacky. That was my last and final time visiting. I now understand why it's always empty.

Brand new Executive Chef in last 90 days and WOW what an amazing new menu and experience. Some old favorites still on menu like Duck and short ribs- but includes new options for our non beef or pork eaters (my hubby). I enjoyed Salmon with Risotto and Rainbow Carrots- large wild salmon portion. My Husband had grilled U-12 shrimp with handmade pasty in a light Parmesan sauce. We ordered elevated Mac-n-Cheese with homemade noodles and rich fresh cheese adults will love. The ultra smooth mashed potatoes are creamed with butter and garlic. Finally dessert- Chocolate Mouse covered in dark chocolate and Hazelnut, chocolate cake with a chocolate spoon to eat the dessert. Impressed with cost point and size of menu items. If you want to order To-Go do order in person at bar and sBe 25% over app! Great restaurant to take a client since David Whitney Marriott is across the street or a great date night inside or on outside patio.

Over 1 hour to get our food! Now the waitress' fault, this place is criminally understaffed for a Saturday night. Onion soup was great. Steak fries was cold when it hit the table, then they microwaved it and it became well done- yuck. For all of the wait and cold food they took 2 drinks off a 2 person tab. Not coming back even though it has a nice ambiance.

Came here as part of a large group. I was very excited since it's one of the restaurants my friends have been hyping. I wasn't really sure what to expect since I'm not very familliar with French food. Lamb en Ballon, Escargot, Steak Tartare- The steak tartare was easily forgettable, not heavily seasoned, but the meat also didn't have much flavor. I couldn't taste any smokiness from the sea salt despite a neutral background. I wish they had mixed everything in the the tartare so you didn't have to mix in the Scotch egg yolk which was slightly challenging. Amazing presentation though. The snails were unique. I have never had them before so it was interesting to try. They were heavilty drowned in the garlic butter sauce so it was hard to discern the taste. The profiteroles were good. The lamb meatballs were delicious! Not overly gamey. The mint sauce really complemented the lamb and this dish was executed perfectly. Chopped Caesar Salad- A normal salad, nothing special. There was a thin smattering of finely shredded cheese and salad dressing on top. Braised Short Rib- Very impressive presentation. The beef was tender and moist, and the jus at the bottom added additional flavor. The bed of vegetables were coated in the delicious jus and were cooked perfectly. Mini Chocolate Mousse Martini- Not really sure why they served it. You could scoop the mousse up in a single spoonful, haha. The presentation was nice but not a lot of substance. I feel bad for the dishwasher who has to remove the crumbs encrusted on the side of the bowel. Not sure if I would come here again, but it was good to try it out!

We had a wonderful date night at The Statler. The food and drinks were delicious and the atmosphere was warm. Our server, Katrina, went above and beyond to make our experience great! I have Celiac and she verified everything with the chef, who was able to easily accommodate making everything gluten free.

Pastry tray gave a nice little flair towards Parisian eats.

Good: Being that the FreePress race was happening it made it difficult to find a good parking spot, which made me late for my reservation. Thank you for allowing me to dine for brunch. I ordered the poached lobster Benedict. Unfortunately the lobster didn't taste fresh. I frown on sending my plate back, but there was no way that could ignore the taste. So, I was offered to order another dish. The salmon salad. No salmon was available (heavy sigh) Grilled shrimp was offered for a replacement. The shrimp also had a non freshness taste as well. By this time I was frustrated and hungry. I ate the salad and put the shrimp aside. Pictured : The short rind bordelaise This dish was good but would've been great tasting if it was seasoned a bit more, and was served hot. I didn't want to leave hungry so I gave it another chance by ordering a cheese danish (tasty) and coffee. Thank goodness for the staff, which saw the concern on my face and was very attentive to me. 5 stars for that.

Since my partner is Frenchie, I love going to "French" or French style restaurants. Looked this place up, and we were headed to Detroit for a show. Cute spot, very welcoming hosts/ manager. Told them we came up from Ohio, and they brought over a comp glass of bubbles. Nice touch. Ambiance was there. Food not so much. Frenchie ordered the mezcal drink. Tasty. I had the "smoked" old fashioned. The first drink she made me, the ice cube was forgotten, whilst the drink with the whole smoke show of lighting the chips and uncovering the glass votive over top. She apologized and was going to do it over, the correct way, but it wasn't a big deal to me. What was a bigger deal was that it was completely unbalanced. It was too sweet for an Old fashioned, which really took away from the Japanese whiskey itself. Meh Having come back from a trip to France a few months ago, I craved escargot. Normally served in an escargot type dish where there are basically little cubby holes for the snails in butter/ garlic, the "fondue" they were swimming in when it came was to be desired. Think hot water, a tiny bit of buttered broth. Ew. Did these snails come from a can? They were small and um, not great. The profiteroles were more like puffy soup crackers. Not sure what was happening here. Frenchie has the foie and waffle. Sounding kitschy, but the execution... terrible. The piece of foie was on the small side. The waffle was fat and so sickly sweet. You need a little sweetness / tart to break up the fattiness or richness of the foie, but in this case, it was utterly lost in translation. Coquilles St-Jacques. Scallops cooked well. Pomme purée tasty, lump free. Mushrooms, juicy, seared properly. Crispy leeks. No they were a bit underwhelming, gummy even. Artichokes, good. Bacon, a smidge on the chewy inedible side. Perhaps they use old or leftover accouterments. Frenchies duck was cooked perfectly, skin could have been a touch crispier. Side of pomme. What in the hell happened to the garlic bits? They were stuck to the inside of my teeth. Legitimately felt like I was eating candied pieces of garlic. I tasted them the rest of my evening and throughout the show we went to afterwards. Uncomfortable. Dessert. Ugh. Tasted like one that had been sitting on the the cart all day. Cake? No. Dry? Yes. Even the frosting was separately falling apart from the "cake' awful. Not fresh, not even close. Whipped cream over whipped. Sauce, I'm guessing from a commercially bought squeeze bottle. Why? I ate some of the hazelnut topping by itself. Bill with tip, $283. Never again. Never for that price.

The highlight of The Statler was definitely the staff and their high level of service. The food could've been better. I ordered the Steak Frites and for $65, the quality of the steak and the flavor profile should've been much better. I highly recommend the truffle fries. For steak fries, they were a 1000/10 and was the highlight of my meal (along with the freshly baked bread).

Finally tried the Statler! It's been on my places to visit since they opened in Detroit! Perfect timing with the opening night of Beetlejuice at the Detroit Opera House! I made reservations to ensure we had enough time for dinner prior to the show. Note: The Statler has a happy hour at the bar and a pre-show menu in addition to the dinner menu. Our waitress Lindsay was awesome! She was so kind! Everyone we met was great! From the host, to the individual that took us to our table, everyone was great! I ordered the pre-show menu, which includes an appetizer, soup or salad, entree, and dessert. For my appetizer, I ordered the salmon rillette. I love smoked salmon! Definitely enough to share! For my second course, I ordered the French onion soup. The bread/cheese ratio was perfect. I don't like French onion soup that has too much bread and cheese. For my entree, I ordered the steak. The flavor was good. The only negative was the steak was well-done, when I ordered it medium. Lindsay was happy to re-make, but we didn't have enough time due to our show. For dessert, we got chocolate chip cookies to go. I follow the Statler on IG too! I saw that they were celebrating their one year anniversary and mentioned this. We were given a complimentary chocolate pot de creme. That was so delicious! Overall, our experience was great! Would love to bring my in laws in the summer. Definitely coming back to try their happy hour at the bar too.

Excellent meal Refined food and experience. Greg the waiter was excellent. I was expecting more mother sauces on the menu since it was a French inspired menu. I would definitely return.

We went to NYE dinner with son and his girlfriend in this relatively new (2 years old) space downtown. Pro tip: pay for the valet parking, we maybe saved a tip but walked four blocks to a lot. Everyone enjoyed their drinks- French 75, French style ale, a rose and a rye "re-fashioned". Lamb meatballs were awesome. Calamari terrific. Escargot just ok but the croutons made the dish. One flaw was that the fresh bread came too late for the delicious sauces. Ragout was yummy. Scallops were cooked nicely but somehow a few of them were a bit over salted. The whipped potatoes sprinkled with crispy bacon and mushrooms took the dish over the top. The sole was a little mushy but the potatoes made the dish. Bouillabaisse was scarfed up, terrific broth, lobster and mussels. Carrot cake was the best, no key lime pie and the other dessert was too sweet. Service was prompt (surprise it was hard to hear) although as the restaurant got busy (went early) our server had more to attend to.

Between the two of us we had the beet salad, burger and steak tartare. Burger was good, but not the best smash burger that I've had. Beet salad was fine, however the cream cheese was a bit overpowering against the orange oil. It was dying for some citrus. Steak tartare was a bit dry, meaning that a small dab of olive oil would have added to the richness and overall mouth feel. I did not really taste the egg although I did see a dab of yolk on the tartare. Needed a bit of salt also to enhance the taste Menu was small, but it did cover a cross section of French bistro dishes. All in all, I thought it was a bit overpriced. So I will have to consider returning for a full meal. I would come back for a burger and beer at the bar.
